Migrate this user page to Login wiki?[edit source]

Hey @Zppix:,

Since this bot is very involved in cross-wiki monitoring and as an IRC relay, I'm wondering if it would make more sense to migrate this bot's user page from Meta to Login wiki so as to utilize a global user page that would be seen on all wikis? Also, I created a user page for MirahezeBots on Public Test Wiki, but can delete that if you end up creating a global user page. ;)

Cheers,

The shutdown of MirahezeBots and FOSSBots LTD.[edit source]

Yesterday as of 3:30PM UTC-5, FOSSBots LTD, including MirahezeBots will be ceasing operation.

Around 2016 (approximate year), I created ZppixBot, it was very bare, had just the basic functions that you would find in a typical IRC bot, it was mainly just used as a testing version for me to help develop piaget2, a bot that at the time was used in some of English Wikipedia’s IRC channels. About a year later in 2017, I joined Miraheze, at the time it was mainly just the sysadmins and founders running just about everything, so I asked them if they would be interested in a information IRC bot, and so then I got to work developing commands and other things for Miraheze to use, in that time Google Code-in started, and Wikimedia was one of the organizations that were mentoring the students, so I added a few tasks to their Google Code In to work on ZppixBot, had a couple students help me develop new things to help with making these Miraheze-specific changes, one of which was the welcome message that was sent to each new person to the IRC channels. Over time, with the help with RhinosF1 and a few others the project took off and expanded in ways I never thought were possible, we became unofficially known as MirahezeBots team, and I was the Project lead, and Founder. We then quickly adapted to Miraheze’s use of Discord by implementing a Discord-IRC relay. Around 2021, I stepped down as the Project Lead and semi-retired from Miraheze, over that time, the project continued under the lead of RhinosF1, and later incorporated the project as FOSSBots LTD. Towards the end of 2022, I came back and was asked to serve as the Ethics Advisor.

I write all this because, it pains me and saddens me that 7 years of work has ended like this. What the future may hold, I’m unsure, but still looking back going from a project developed basically solely by me for a year, grown to such a big project, with its own official company. So for the last time, I sign the following,

Zppix

Ethics Advisor

Former Project Lead

FOSSBots LTD

As a former member of Fossbots/MirahezeBots, it is sad to see it shut down, but it had a good run. I was on the team on and off for somewhere around 5 years (2017-2022). I put a fair amount of work into the backend systems, and some work into development of MirahezeBot, but unfortunately I started to not have a ton of time to actively contribute to the project, and so I resigned so I could focus on college and my Miraheze SRE duties. We had a number of contributors, some of whom have left us.
