I need contributors on my wiki, where can I get contributors?--Wikieditor668 (talk) 12:16, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

@Wikieditor668: Welcome to Meta, and to Miraheze. Thank you for your question, and for using the {{help me}} wiki support tool. This is a common question from new wiki bureaucrats. While you can ask for volunteers or contributors to your wiki on community noticeboard, stating what you need help with, or no more than once every day or two on Discord, the reality is wiki building is actually a very solitary activity. While approximately 10-20 new Miraheze wikis are created every day, roughly the same number are deleted per Dormancy Policy every day. In short, the best way to develop a community is to write great content for your wiki, have an aesthetically appealing design, some (but not too many) local policies, and the like, and the community will come. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:24, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus Thank you! Where can I ask for other editors to come? Wikieditor668 (talk) 18:09, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
@Wikieditor668: You can make one thread on community noticeboard, linking to your wiki and stating exactly what you need help with, or you can post infrequently in the #general channel on Discord. Dmehus (talk) 18:21, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I did post on discord earlier today, but no one think I clicked the link. I can post again on discord tomorrow when I have access to my school PC. Wikieditor668 (talk) 18:25, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Apologies for the delayed reply. Okay, just make sure you don't ask for volunteers too often, or create more than one community noticeboard thread. As I said above, the reality is that wiki creating and building is usually a solitary activity. You may well be the only contributor to your wiki. If you develop an appealing aesthetic, have a logical page navigation scheme, and write informative or useful content, in turn, you will bring both visitors and contributors to your wiki. If you want to ask specific questions on wiki building, you will likely receive more and better responses on Discord. Dmehus (talk) 16:29, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
