Requests for adoption/boilerplate

Hi, if you go on Requests for adoption you can see that if you put "yes" or "no" as an option it still says "No answer given", that is what I was trying to fix. Reception123 (talk) (contribs) 07:16, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Are you a steward? Rsterbal (talk) 23:30, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No? If you are referring to this, I removed it because I felt it added nothing to the discussion, as a summary of all viewpoints should include the statements made by users as they support/oppose. If you feel differently, feel free to restore it, although keeping it updated is up to you and whoever else wants to. -- Void Whispers 23:37, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Meta sysop

Hi, as you're already helping out a lot here, I'd like to propose you as Meta sysop on Meta:Requests for permissions as your actions would be more appropriate as a Meta sysop than CVT. If you're interested either tell me or make the request yourself :) Reception123 (talk) (contribs) 06:34, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your successful steward request, and on being the first non-sysadmin steward, and on managing to acquire the 20 votes necessary! I'm sure that as a steward you will continue doing great work here, and that the extra tools will help you to continue combating vandalism (and taking care of any other requests). Good luck!

Issue with the efn template

Hello. I've asked for help with this on the stewards' noticeboard, and was pointed towards you for help with this. If this is an issue outside of your scope, sorry for bothering you. Also, if you don't mind, could you point me to a sysadmin who could help me with this, if that scenario is the case?

Copied from the noticeboard:

I've been using the efn template on my wiki but I struggle with it. Instead of outputting lowercase letters from the Latin/Roman script, it gives out the type of letter followed by a number (example here). Is this something a steward can help with or will I have to fill a feature/extension request? If its the second, what do I have to request specifically? Waffitti (talk) 16:16, 23 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey there, sorry for the late response. I first started looking into it as soon as you had posted about it, and I figured out that it has something to do with the way that the ref parser tag works. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time recently to learn the specifics on how it is supposed to do what you want it to do. However, I do believe I figured it out. If you import the pages located here it is likely that it will function properly. -- Void Whispers 02:16, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello. Sorry for the pushiness, this had long been an issue with my wiki I wanted to solve but had no idea how to. Importing those pages did fix it, I can't thank you enough for helping me with this. If you do figure out the specifics behind it, I'd love to understand them, but don't feel pressured to learn them if you don't have time. Waffitti (talk) 19:04, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Last Week in the Mirror

Thanks for creating the wiki that I requested! But I find that, to re-create the presentation I had used elsewhere, my wiki needs the DPL and OPTION/CHOOSE extensions. I clicked on the link and got daunting messages that, before I could proceed, hopefully to discover whether these extensions are even available, I had to disclose my real name and email address to a third party. This is not necessarily a deal-breaker, except that it came up in the name of OAuth, which I had read required me to sign up with Google and let random people plant software in my cellphone, and these are deal-breakers. Are you able to just switch on these features at TheMirror? I've elected to deal with you folks; why does it seem that non-routine requests have to go through someone else? Spike the Dog (talk) 18:17, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A list of extensions we have available are listed here. Since my only guess for DPL is DynamicPageList, and I have no idea what OPTION/CHOOSE would be, might I suggest selecting what you know you need from there? If you cannot find an extension you need on that list, they can be reviewed and added. Please note that in order to look into an extension, we will need to know it's exact name, and preferably have a link to any available documentation. Also, if you were referring to signing up on phabricator (provided that you were at phabricator.miraheze.org), it's not actually a third party - it's hosted by us as well (the ticketed system is easier to manage and keep track of than a page on this wiki). However, if you are unwilling to sign up, I am willing to relay any request you make here through. -- Void Whispers 18:38, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for calming me down! I am now registered in Phabricator. (It did not insist on disclosure of my real name, so the pop-up window should stop saying that Phabricator will need to know it.) (In fact, when I eventually pay you for this access, I am very willing to mail a personal check, and very unwilling to disclose anything to PayPal.)

It appears that what I need is to install RandomSelection and DynamicPageList3 at TheMirror.miraheze.org (PS--and install myself as a bureaucrat), and although Phabricator appears to be marvelously structured, I don't see anything about configuring a wiki. So I am now confused at a higher level.

Here is a separate question. At Uncyclopedia, when uploading photos, one option was to assert "fair use for parody." I see that Miraheze is more diligent about protecting copyrights, and agree that, if you got a DMCA request, you would probably delete a photo rather than waste time debating whether its use was permitted. I have stolen photos with impunity, not to benefit from the photography but to use thumbnails as a springboard for original comedy; is that disapproved here? Spike the Dog (talk) 20:35, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For future reference, if you click the star at the top right, you should see an option for "Request features", which will take you to this form. I've requested that the extensions be enabled without the need for opening a task though (but in the future, similar requests should be directed there). No current comment on images and copyrights. -- Void Whispers 20:57, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you! Installation/opping worked. Spike the Dog (talk) 21:46, 27 August 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

One more question from TheMirror.miraheze.org: The new archive page "Donald Trump" calls for itself to be added to the new category "News archive" but this hasn't happened, even overnight. In addition, using Special:Categories, I see artifacts pertaining to a page I brought over from the old website but have since deleted. Is there a background process that has stalled? Issue with col templates

I've been wanting to use "col" templates in my wiki, but they seem to break entire pages (example here. Is there anything I can add to my wiki to stop this issue or would I have to fill a feature/extension request? Waffitti (talk) 06:26, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Vandal arrives

I noticed that "Willy on Wheels" has created a user name here and asked to create a wiki. I permabanned him from Wikia Uncyclopedia for installing himself as a site-wide personal meme and general vandalism. This might not disqualify him here, but at the least, I will go out on a limb and suggest that the wiki he requested will have nothing to do with automobiles. Spıke (talk)19:19 1-Nov-2017

Images via CSS

On the rfobasic wiki, why does the Common.css file fail to provide a background image (blue texture) for DIV.sidebar (as specified in {Start sidebar}? Example in this page. The fallback blue pastel background is present but the blue texture fails. Am I specifying the filename correctly in Common.css? Is it not allowed to specify a .GIF? This is a frill, but I'd like to get it right if Miraheze supports it. Spıke (talk)02:35 9-Nov-2017

It looks like it's working properly to me, have you tried bypassing your browser's cache? -- Void Whispers 20:24, 9 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Rats! Yes, I have flushed the cache several times. Have you merely used the feature, or did you look at my page and see the textured background? It is failing for me right now, though the Object Inspector confirms that the page is calling for the texture and the page it is calling for is present at static.miraheze.org. Thanks for investigating. Spıke (talk)20:45 9-Nov-2017

Ban appeal revert

Hi, please don’t remove support votes from my ban appeal just because you believe that they were made by a troll. Any and all votes count. Amanda123 (talk) 01:18, 19 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

So you tellin me that someone asking you for a panties shot is ok? Sure. Refactoring comments because you disagree with them? Sure. Taking only the parts of comments you agree with? Sure. Careful. -- Void Whispers 01:42, 19 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I never said that the comments themselves were okay. For the record, they are not. However, the support vote itself still counts as a valid vote, especially when the results are very close like they are here. Additionally, I didn’t refactor comments just because I didn’t like them — I removed a comment that was making a blatantly false statement about me. I have never operated porn spambots or done anything remotely like that, which is what the user was claiming. Amanda123 (talk) 01:53, 19 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just to note, as per Special:Diff/37075, a rationale should be provided for a vote. The user did not provide any rationale pertaining to the actual subject that is being discussed, so it would not have much weight anyway. I also disagree with trolls/abusers being able to keep their votes when their only purpose is clearly to disrupt. Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:26, 19 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello!

Thanks for the welcome Void. I just have a question for you. Are all wiki's public here? I was hoping to make mine private, with the ability for users to only be able to edit their own pages. Is that possible here?

Thank you in advance. NWNJade

No, a wiki can be prívate if you would like it to be. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 23:10, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In fact, the wiki you requested is private, so only you (and users you add to the member group) should be able to read any more than the main page. If you want it to be more visible, but with editing restrictions instead of read restrictions, you can make a request on Phabricator. -- Void Whispers 23:38, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I only want the wiki visible by people I add, and editable only by people I give permissions to. Does that make sense? For example, I want users only to be able to edit their personal pages, and not other people's.

Questions about Void-bot

Dear Void,

I noticed you have a bot. I have 2 questions about the bot:

  • 1) Is it a modified version of wm-bot?
  • 2) Is the source code (including your modifications if applicable) open source?

Thank you for answering my questions in advance

--Sau226 (talk) 13:20, 7 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is not a modified version of wm-Bot as wm-Bot is written in a different programming language entirely (c#) whereas void-Bot is written in JavaScript and Python. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 13:35, 7 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

And to answer the second question, no the bot is not open-source at this time. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:50, 7 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Extension of rights

Dear Void,

Could you please review my rights and take appropriate action? My rights will expire soon. While I have not used my local account much my bot has made many page imports and attempted to fix many of the issues found in content. Therefore I would request that you either extend the rights for a reasonable amount of time for all accounts, let them expire or process the adoption fully.

I await your response

--Sau226 (talk) 13:15, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Added permanent 'crat and sysop to your main account. If you need to extend the rights on your bot, you should be able to do so on your own now. Cheers -- Void Whispers 16:49, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help with citations

For my wiki, I pretend to implement a quoting system like the one used here, linkable in pages like this example. I've managed https://hirapedia.miraheze.org/wiki/Magazines/'90s to get the text blocks in the wiki], but all text contained within comes off as centrered instead of to the left, and there seems to be lacking parts for the blocks to be cited within articles.

Besides that, there is an issue with the "Reflist" template. On some pages, its been set up to output 2 columns of text. However, when the segment that makes it so is removed, it keeps outputting 2 columns instead of the expected single column, as seen here. What could be causing this? Waffitti (talk) 21:12, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Waffitti: Looks like there is an align="left" missing somewhere. I'd suggest putting it in the same space as colspan="3" (in Template:Reference). The reflist seems to be designed by the software in order to have "smart" behavior. For example, on my screen, the page you linked to that should have two columns has three (until I zoom in, and it becomes two). It would seem that not specifying a number of columns defaults the software to deciding the number of columns based off the size of the display. -- Void Whispers 21:26, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help with converting infobox templates from wikia

Hello, I need help with converting the infobox templates that I used for my wiki on wikia to be compatible with miraheze. For example, how would the template for the infobox on this page look?: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ambush_on_Suurja

I need to be able to have certain rows divided into two columns as shown in the example. Back when my wiki was on wikia, I used this source code for one of the infobox templates, which is going to be very similar to the code used for the example I linked:

<infobox>
 <label>Previous</label>
 <label>Concurrent</label>
 <label>Next</label>
 <title source="name" />
 <image source="image" />
 <group>
   <header>Details</header>
   <label>Beginning</label>
   <label>End</label>
   <label>Setting</label>
   <label>Outcome</label>
 </group>
 <group layout="horizontal" show="incomplete">
   <header>Combatants</header>
   <data source="side1" />
   <data source="side2" />
 </group>
 <group layout="horizontal" show="incomplete">
   <header>Commanders</header>
   <data source="commanders1" />
   <data source="commanders2" />
 </group>
 <group layout="horizontal" show="incomplete">
   <header>Forces</header>
   <data source="forces1" />
   <data source="forces2" />
 </group>
 <label>Civilian casualties</label>
</infobox>

You can also view the exact code for the template used in the linked example here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Template%3ABattle

Please help me understand what changes I need to make, and then I'll be able to update all the other infobox templates on my wiki as well and finally have it up and running on Miraheze. --^Vitiate^ (talk) 18:24, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help with Infobox Album

For the implementation of the "album" infobox on my wiki, I decided to emulate Japanese Wikipedia and add their cover/tribute color, as it would be helpful for its needs. Applying it to pages (like this one), it does not recognize the album's type, erroneously branding it as a "Studio album".

Besides that, on some pages (namely this one and that one, the infobox produces a "" string on the top of the page, and I have no idea what is causing it. There is also an aesthetic problem that, while small, causes some inconvenience. On the "chronology" section of the infoboxes, like the one on this page, there is a significant amount of spacing between the titles/years, the section heading and end of the infobox. This, in comparison, is more compact. Are there any ways that those issues can be fixed? Waffitti (talk) 14:29, 9 April 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

issue

Hello Void. I wanted to reach out and request your support in resolving a table tools fragment error on my Omniversalis wiki. I'm getting tags on my articles whenever I use Template:Infobox officeholder, and I cannot isolate the template causing the problem. It was recommended on the community noticeboard that I look to you for assistance on the matter. I appreciate any support you can provide on the matter. Vivaporius (talk) 20:53, 27 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Vivaporius: sorry for the delay in a response, these past few days have been rather busy. I'll take a look as soon as I am able, but the issue already appears to be something non-obvious. -- Void Whispers 19:42, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ugh. It's an issue with the parser. Or just that nested infoboxes are poorly designed to begin with. The thing is, the parser is taking html like Text and getting rid of the opening and regurgitating the closing tags. This may be an upstream issue, or it's possible that I can engineer a better method to nest infoboxes. Either case will take longer than I would have hoped. -- Void Whispers 22:39, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

PageNumbers

Hi Void, thanks for your previous suggestion re the issues I've recently had getting the highlightable page numbers to work. I was wondering if you get time would you have another look into it please? They seem to be very hit and miss, most of the time not working and only when logged out. When logged in they don't show at all for some reason. I have just created a new page - British War Aims - about a political statement given in 1918. I have included all the relevant djvu pages from the index using the required wikitext but the numbers don't appear. They should also be on this page Great Britain at War but has the same issue. The linkable page numbers in square parentheses should be there but they don't show up, and if they do they don't always remain. The behaviour is very odd and makes the Proofread Page extension a little redundant if this part doesn't work. Can you shed some light on the problem. Thanks. Borderman (Talk) 01:07, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Additional: Not working in Chrome but periodically in Safari and Firefox. Also, the highlighted area is out a bit, not highlighting the correct text. Borderman (Talk) 01:14, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'll look into it, there appears to be some sort of issue with the script that needs ironing out. I'll see if I can't figure it out. -- Void Whispers 01:17, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Try adding mediawiki.cookie to the mw.loader.using call at the top of common.js so that it looks like this:
mw.loader.using( ['mediawiki.util', 'mediawiki.notify', 'mediawiki.cookie'] ).then( function() {
-- Void Whispers 01:27, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks Void, I think that's done it so the numbers appear when logged in. However, when logged in there is no indentation so the numbers are behind the paragraphed text. When logged out the indent is too small, should be more like 3em. I need to be able to style them so that they have the correct indentation when logged in and out. The highlighted text still doesn't match properly with the original transcription. Any suggestions? Cheers. Borderman (Talk) 11:04, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Borderman: Sorry for the late response, I've been away. Anyway, it looks pretty good from my end now, but let me know if you still need anything. -- Void Whispers 21:48, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No worries pal. I had a look through some wikisource css and found some code that matched what I needed to get the indent. The only problem is that it indents the navigation bar at the top as well, which I changed to a simple template of my own design so I didn't have to look at the Lua error on the wikisource version (which I find too complicated anyway). If there is a way for the indent to NOT affect the navigation bar that would be great, otherwise it'll do for now. I would, however, like to be able to include "The Great War 1914-1918" in the black bar (in white text) on the Vector skin which I have tweaked slightly to emulate aspects of the Pivot skin. Is there a way to add some text to the #mw-page-base section at all? Borderman (Talk) 23:25, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm not sure if there is an easy way to get the navigation bar to not line up with the text, given that it is included in the same column. I don't think it's possible to add text up there without using js. In MediaWiki:Vector.js, the line
$('#mw-page-base').innerText("The Great War 1914-1918");
would add the text, but it is then in severe need of styling. -- Void Whispers 17:10, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok, I'll leave navigation bar as it is, it looks fine anyway. I think Wikisource have done something to their Template:Header to get theirs to go full width. Regarding the title text for mw-page-base, I have tried adding the text to Mediawiki:Vector.js but it hasn't done anything. I don't mind the styling, I can take care of that with css, it's just getting the text their in the first place. Borderman (Talk) 19:05, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh,right, that would be because I goofed on the code. It should be
$('#mw-page-base').innerText = "The Great War 1914-1918";
Sorry about that. -- Void Whispers 19:08, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The text editor says: Error: Missing ";" before statement. Saving anyway to see if it works. Borderman (Talk) 19:30, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It seems that I'm doing a bad job keeping track of what's what today, so I've updated the code myself after doing some testing. -- Void Whispers 19:33, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks Void, I see the text now. I also forgot the = sign in my previous save. Will add some styling. Thanks again. Borderman (Talk) 19:41, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Change purge link from wikisource to my website

Hi Void, where do I look to change the code for the purge icon within the proofread page extension example on this page (the middle of the three icons, top right)? The icon links back to wikisource but I need to purge the local pages instead. Thanks. Borderman (Talk) 20:51, 15 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Update: I have hidden all three icons with css as none of them worked locally. Maybe I could have the purge extension as an alternative? Borderman (Talk) 21:46, 24 July 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help dealing with vandalism

I've installed ProtectSite, thanks for the tip! Right now I'm trying to figure out how to revert images changes. And remove the unwanted images from the history, do you have any tips on how to do that? Thanks in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spark (talkcontribs)

(talk page stalker) You can revert changes to images by simply reverting back to a previous version of the image (found in the file history), or just by deleting the image altogether and re-uploading it. You can delete an image the same way you would delete any regular page. Amanda Catherine (talk) 02:04, 23 August 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

(talk page stalker) Other system administrators have said that this skin was previously installed but was removed due to incompatibility. While I have been unable to personally verify this, and the MediaWiki documentation page says that it is compatible with MediaWIki 1.23+, it is looking like this skin will ultimately be declined for one reason or another (someone also mentioned that the code is under or unmaintained, which again I have not confirmed but if true would be a non-starter for any installation of skins or extensions). Thanks for correcting me at Wiki request #6322. Sorry I didn't see the subdomain and I thought that the user was requesting the URL as "wiki". Next time, I will check the subdomain so that I won't get into this confusion again. Thanks. Pkbwcgs (talk) 16:26, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Actually, I think it is wrong. The user at Special:RequestWikiQueue/6322 can't have their custom URL as "Wiki" so they won't get a custom domain. Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:51, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Maia mediation

Hey there, thank you for responding to my issue.

It's unfortunate that you went down the mediation path, because I'm really trying to embrace that the drama has calmed and I'm careful to not have anything brought up again. Many, many members of the community simply wish to ignore the situation and "not involve themselves", but I've requested via our Discord server that anyone who wishes to help out with this, message me and I'll send them the link.

Truly though, I made the Maia Song Contest and therefore, surely they shouldn't be able to create a copy? I think it is very sad that this needs to even be debated, as the creators of the clone wiki (maiasc.miraheze.org) were removed from the original due to their toxic behaviour and attempts to manipulate situations such as these. I have some screenshots of nasty Discord messages that made digs at me over past mental health issues also, if this helps at all.

I wasn't 100% sure how I should best voice my concerns, so I posted it under the 'Discussion' part and advised others to do the same. The consensus is though, the community is in near-unanimity that the original wiki is the only legitimate home of the Maia Song Contest, and they should not be allowed to use the name and parade the contest as their own. If they do it outside Miraheze, I would have to go down another route to have the plagiarism removed, but otherwise, I hope you are able to help me with this. All the work I've put in over the years (just see my contributions), and you'll see why I'm so passionate about why my work should not be duplicated in this way.

Sorry for giving you a big paragraph to read, but I hope it brings some clarification on the subject. I truly hope the clone wiki can be deleted as soon as possible, as they are already messaging members of the community claiming it is "the real wiki" and attempting to confuse them. Surely this is against rules of some kind?

Kind Regards, -AuroraBorealis (talk) 21:28, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, thanks for getting back to us on the situation. We decided to go this route because we were essentially operating in the dark. We have no idea what was happening behind the scenes, and decided that the best way to resolve it was to force a public discussion where we could better get an understanding of what was going on. Going into the discussion, we were under the impression that there was perhaps an even divide, or just a disconnect somewhere. If there's anything that you want to tell us that should not be made publicly visible, please email it to stewards(at)miraheze.org so we can investigate. -- Void Whispers 21:50, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you, and I will email you also tomorrow. Given that it appeared an even divide, when this is not the case, is it possible that a different route be taken? The discussion itself shows how undivided the community is on this (we all just want the copycat wiki gone lol) -AuroraBorealis (talk) 23:17, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hey Void. There are now nine members of the community who've given their opinions and unanimously agreed that the splinter wiki should be deleted as it has no community support and is otherwise an unnecessary, malicious duplicate. Is this enough for something to be done? -AuroraBorealis (talk) 17:43, 13 December 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Uncyclopedia 2

SO what is going on with this 'Uncyclopedia 2' project from Psl631? I have blocked him from Uncyclopedia (wikia hosted) for a week for ignoring my request not to spam another website - Uncyclopedia 2. --Romartus (talk) 22:21, 31 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

To update my own post. I see this article (as edited here - https://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Florence_Nightingale?action=history) appears on Uncyclopedia 2 (here https://uncyclopedia2.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Florence_Nightingale&action=history) with only one previous edit - from a bot. So all the previous article's history and contributors have been removed. I presume therefore this is going to happen to ALL articles imported - either from the Uncyclopedia hosted at Wikia or Uncyclopedia hosted independently? You know that's not on. --Romartus (talk) 13:17, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This is new information to me. Until that user had imported those hundreds of pages, the wiki appeared to be complying with copyright requirements, but now, due to the user's imports, it is not. I was also under the impression that Psl631 did not want to copy the contents of existing Uncyclopedias outside of setting up the basic framework (policies, templates, etc) needed to get the wiki working. I'll be keeping my eye on this as it develops. -- Void Whispers 13:34, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I did not copy from the wikia uncyclopedia, I created pages from own work with some content copied from en.uncyclopedia, the Uncyclopedia.co wiki. --Psl631 (Let's Chat!) 13:37, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I am aware of that, but Kink lewis imported over 3000 pages from the Uncyclopedia on wikia. -- Void Whispers 13:46, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In that case, I request those 3,000 pages are removed if sourced from Wikia hosted Uncyclopedia. How it should have been was for writers wanting to submit articles to Uncyclopedia 2 but only if the article was their sole effort or they had the agreement of ALL the other editors at Uncyclopedia (wikia). For the purposes of illustration, this was the arrangement made between Uncyclopedia (wikia) and Uncyclopedia.co back in 2013. --Romartus (talk) 14:04, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have gone through the uploads. All seem to originate from Uncyclopedia (Wikia). I request 'King Lewis' account is blocked until we can resolve this. --Romartus (talk) 15:06, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Is it OK that I can block "King lewis" account indefinitely and remove him from the "admin" group on the uncyclopedia 2.0? --Psl631 (Let's Chat!) 15:41, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── That may be a good idea. Should I setup a tool to delete all the imported pages? -- Void Whispers 16:00, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I removed his permissions, and should I block him also? --Psl631 (Let's Chat!) 16:16, 1 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Questions about names and deleted wikis

Hello! I have 2 questions for you. Question1 Is it admissible to create a wiki with the name of a deleted wiki (I was admin)? Question2 I know the conditions and rules of deletion for a wiki, but can some data be retrieved eventually? Is there any chances (eventually) ? Question3 Will it be a premium feature one day, where you pay, and can keep a small, inactive wiki for a longer period?

Thank you! --PERCE-NEIGE (talk) 14:04, 15 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Do you know when your wiki was deleted? If it was recent, there is a better chance of recovery. There is no reason you can't create a new wiki under the name of a deleted wiki (that's part of the reason we delete inactive wikis after all). It is currently possible to exempt wikis from the Dormancy Policy, provided they fulfill certain criteria. -- Void Whispers 16:17, 15 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for the quick reply. So, I will recreate it, but I doubt it qualifies for dormancy exemption, except if there's a way to have a premium.

Is it possible to have an exemption if I pay? I know your site is meant to be free, but I love your service, and my wiki may be inactive for a while, depending on my workload or burden of family.

To be able to recreate my wiki easily if something happens, is there a way to automatically backup it on a cloud service and on a personal hosted site (but that is not a wiki). I'm very novice, but I could try to learn if needed. I will ask you to recreate Cogitopédie, with a private part, and a public part (that I hope will be useful). Is it possible? — Preceding unsigned comment added by PERCE-NEIGE (talkcontribs) and my last question: do you know how someone can use the extension called whitelist? Maybe there's better alternative for an hybrid private-public wiki?

@PERCE-NEIGE: Hello, you do not need to pay for an exemption. If you have a good reason (such as it can be used to be read or that you have to leave but you will return) it is perfectly fine for you to request an exemption. And no, we do not have that extension but it should be possible to do something from Special:ManageWikiPermissions. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:21, 18 February 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you!

The problem is that I don't have any "good" reasons, except my private & professional life, so, I think the best thing for me would be to find a way to backup the site. Do you know how I could backup automatically to a private place from my hosting provider?

So, could you recreate the wiki please for me, I will try to use the special page, but I don't know if I can make 2 categories of pages. One which I own all the rights, and one readable but not editable, by anyone on the Internet. I'd like to categorize pages like this.

Other question: What are the mediawiki extensions that are activable on a Miraheze wiki? EDIT: I see now the list of extensions that can be activated from my wiki. This question is closed. I' still seaching answers to the way to have private and public pages, and to be able to do automatic backups.

Wikirunning request

Hi Void! I recently submitted two requests for new Wikis, namely Wikirunning and Wikirunner. Wikirunner was submitted by mistake; I would like for just Wikirunning to be created. I intend to create a high-quality Wiki encylopedia about runners, running events, coaches, etc. with expanded notability guidelines. Once it starts getting big enough, I would prefer it to have its own domain name at wikirunning.org. Thanks. Runnerpedia (talk) 15:41, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's been handled! Cheers -- Void Whispers 17:39, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks! I'd like to learn more about how to import templates into my new wiki. As an initial test, I've imported XML dumps of 11 articles from the English Wikipedia (example: https://wikirunning.miraheze.org/wiki/On%C3%A8sphore_Nkunzimana ). So far so good, but many template boxes such as "Infobox person" didn't show up, even though I made sure to export the templates. TME has some good articles with no or few broken templates, and I wonder how they did it. Where should I start? Runnerpedia (talk) 18:43, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Additionally, I'd like to:
  1. Rename my Wikirunning wiki to WikiKimbia (Kimbia means "running" in Swahili) in order to focus just on runners from the African continent, since Wikirunning is potentially too broad for a relatively new project like Miraheze (we'd have to import up to tens of thousands of articles from Wikipedia to comprehensively cover running on my new wiki). Alternatively, we can just delete Wikirunning and start up WikiKimbia from scratch
  2. Import all of the articles from English Wikipedia's Category:Kenyan long-distance runners if possible, to give this Wiki a good start and attract editors from the competitive running community, which I'm well connected with. Let me know if this is OK with you. I'll be happy to let the System Admins do this so that I don't screw things up, since I'm new to Miraheze. Runnerpedia (talk) 18:52, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hey, sorry for taking so long to respond, I've been busy with other things. If you really want Wiki Running deleted, please confirm here, so I can make sure that gets done. For number two, it would be the same as importing the templates, and there shouldn't be any reason we need to handle it. -- Void Whispers 18:36, 10 March 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Not a problem. I think I'll keep Wikirunning on Miraheze for now, but I won't add many more articles to be respectful of your servers and disk space. What's the maximum limit on the number of articles that users can import from Wikipedia by the way? Runnerpedia (talk) 22:15, 10 March 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I would like to obtain "translate" permission. I'm a French member with a professionnal level of English so I glad I can earn this permission in order to translate.

Read - Edit

Thank you Void for your answer to my question on the Community Noticeb. regarding steps for my Wiki not being editable but readable by anyone. I followed your instructions but still other people than myself can edit any page. It seems there is just the option between a private Wiki (editorial + reading restrictions) and a public one (no editorial or reading restrictions). Is that the case? Or is a mixture possible, I would like the setting of: editorial restriction + no restriciton as to readability for anyone. Appreciate your assistance.

I have an account on Wikipedia, Owen912, and it is indefinitely blocked from editing it. Should I request CVT or it means that I am not able to patrol vandalism and block vandals. LegoMaster (talk - contribs - logs - uploads - global contribs) 12:01, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The widget extension allows all users to edit it. It is a dangerous exploit and should be fixed.

This isn’t technical a security exploit, it is the responsibility of each wiki to manage settings like these. As an organisation, we have mitigated any serious affects as far as we are reasonably expected to be able to. John (talk) 07:36, 28 April 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help. Us.

Vicious is absolutely going rogue on the users who are being affiliated towards me! Thanks to him blocking Mar9122 and Portrock1355, along with Angrybirdsfanonmiraheze, Mar9122 fucking banned me from Atrocious YouTubers Wiki! [Doubt me all you want, but here’s the proof! https://crappygames.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:BlockList] [Here’s fucking more! https://awesomegames.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:BlockList] [And here’s the one that involved me getting blocked https://atrociousyoutubers.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:BlockList] You know what? Never mind, just please unblock me from Crappy Games Wiki, Awesome Games Wiki, and Rotten Websites Wiki, so I can apologize to Vicious! Either one is fine, I don’t care! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Se (talkcontribs)

Um, there’s an admin who is mildly too stubborn

Sigh, Vicious187 kinda, lips smacking, gave me a indefinite ban on Crappy Games Wiki and Awesome Games Wiki. All I just simply did was be polite on his discussion boards about the incident at Rotten Websites Wiki where I made an article on Rotten Websites Wiki, but banning someone permanently just because of some discussion is just inexcusable. --Se (talk) 19:11, 8 July 2019 (UTC)SeReply[reply]

Can I get a link to some of these discussions? It would help me looking into what happened. -- Void Whispers 21:01, 8 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Alright, I’ll try. It’s just Vicious deleted my comment on his discussion board at Crappy Games Wiki. [1] Oh wait, now I can’t prove it since Vicious already deleted my discussions. I just don’t understand since my link isn’t working. I’m just not exactly an expert. Sigh, the block log shows how stubborn he is. Never mind, Mar9122 just acted like a huge jerk at me at Atrocious YouTubers Wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Se (talkcontribs)

Just to point out, the link doesn't work because the W in wiki is capitalized and it should be all lowercase for it to work. Reception123 (talk) (C) 18:19, 10 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You can contribute to translations if you wish. If you are not autoconfirmed here on meta, yet, you can still ask for the translator permission. New wiki

Hello! I'm new here and I want to create a wiki. Can you tell me the link to create wikis? Haizaki (talk) 17:12, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Welcome! You can request a wiki here. Let me know if you need anything else! -- Void Whispers 17:20, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please delete this biased and exaggerated page about me.

There is a mirahzee called horrid reception wiki which had a page about me with no sources and unbiased opinions, as why I suck, and they aren’t true, and I never gave them permission to make the page. I tried to negotiate with the admins but they refused to listen to me. Here is the link to the wiki: https://horridreceptionwikis.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

The link to the page: https://horridreceptionwikis.miraheze.org/wiki/Like_a_boss999

The wiki is already being reviewed by staff, so I'll make sure they review this as well. -- Void Whispers 17:23, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This is going nowhere.
As an admin of HRWW, he's clearly lying as he once vandalized the page as "negotiation" and that's hypocritical of him. Here's proof for this wrongdoing: https://horridreceptionwikis.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Like_a_boss999&action=history --Mar9122 (talk) 12:44, 9 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Mar, I can show you your history of vandalism, flamewars, errors, and hypocrisy if you would like. Another thing is that you do not have any source to back up the “facts” that are listed, so in other words, it’s either made up or just straighten up plagiarism, and miraheze would allow a user to delete a page that he/she doesn’t like on a certain miraheze if he/she doesn’t like and approve of it. And what you’re saying is that I have 2 errors, so therefore, you cannot make a page about a user with 2 errors. Plus, if the horrid reception wiki miraheze is being reviewed, then you know that there is something wrong with it.
B.S. Stop being a victim of yourself and accept those criticism. If you think the page is bias and has no proof, I'll put those proofs. It's you that have too much salt, not me. Purely B.S. No one will agree with you. --Mar9122 (talk) 17:22, 9 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
B.S. you would have whined, complained and played victim if there was a page about you, and you wouldn’t even handle the criticism or allow anyone to make a page about you because “you can’t make a page about admins.” That is just pure B.S. and shows that you cannot handle any criticism. And I do not make a page about anyone because I am no idiotic coward who stays in the past, pissing off people behind their backs and altering facts about them just to make them look bad. All I want is peace, yet you and your friends keep harassing me, and I hate it. I do not accept any fake and biased criticism; the only criticism that I accept is me vandalising several times and causing drama several times. Another thing is that links to down sites do not serve as evidence as it shows nothing. And if you think that no one agrees with me, then why do I have people who agree with me? Why do you assume stuff without any proof of any sort? Because you are a sheep and rely on fake information. The page will be taken down, as Miraheze will accept requests like this because you are making a page about someone and that person doesn’t approve of it. Now I suggest that you delete the page and leave me alone, Mar, or Miraheze will keep an eye on you.
I did have criticism for myself. PROOF. You clearly did not read the page, twice, and you dare to insult me by calling me a sheep? You are getting on my nerves, boss. You are wasting my time. And you are really a horrible person. Screw you for calling me a sheep and the page of yourself stays. I put all the stupid proofs so Miraheze stewards won't believe you. Stop making lies, get a life, and stop the drama. It's your fault. You falsely accused OldDirtyFoamer for closing down Roblox Wiki and he did not. Not only you're lying but also being a bigot youself. This is my last time replying this stupid petty message.
End of the story Mar9122 (talk) 00:28, 10 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Angrybirdsfan2005: Do you think you have the fucking right to attack Mar?! He's a good friend of mine. Plus LikeABoss999, you need to stop this, so either stop or I'll report you!

Everyone please refrain from making further comments, this will be handled regardless as to what happens here. Besides, this is going nowhere. -- Void Whispers 02:10, 10 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ok, this is going out of control

So MCpillager, Like a boss999, and Fungster are trying to take down horridreceptionwikis.miraheze.org even though we already blocked PeetahBaxter69 and FrozenPizza. Please do not delte horridreceptionwikis.miraheze.org, okay?

This is just honestly going nowhere, even my requests are just going nowhere. I’m not gonna even bother risking to get my account closed just because of a fight. I wouldn’t recommend requesting Void unless if you want to get your account closed.

Yeah, your still bent on getting hrww closed. Boss, you are truly a horrible person. Youve vandalized, harassed others, threatened raids, and abused admin powers. We will never forgive you. You should stop making alts like a random fat pug. You need to grow up. Were keeping the page on you, no matter what, because you will never change.

Yet I was the one who had enough of the harassment, and false lies. I wanted peace, but you didn’t. I made peace with destroyer, thatdude, and Darkbitlike. I do want HRWW closed but I do not want to risk my account getting closed. You decided to alter the facts to support yourself, which prompted me to end the wiki. Even mar has though of shutting down HRWW and I don’t persuade him to. I have grown up, but will you? And btw, a random fat pug is my friend’s account and here is proof of it: https://a-random-fat-pug.fandom.com/wiki/Message_Wall:Darkbitlike?useskin=oasis

And guess what? They made peace with you, that dosent mean they sided with you. You need to grow up, and stop acting like a know it all. Because guess what idiot? Youve harssed underage users, vandalized stuff becuase of personal reasons, and theow a hissyfit over us criticizing you. Accept that you are not perfect, suck it up. You Truly Are A Horrible Person.

(To everyone) The wiki is now private, and I think it's a local issue for those who have the member/admin permissions. If you don't have such permissions, this issue is no longer related to you - just leave it to the locals and (if necessary) Stewards. Please refrain from having further off-topic discussion, or you might get a short-term block on meta. Thanks.--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 02:02, 17 June 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Concur. The mutual accusations and name-calling do not belong on Meta. Meta is about the health of the entire wiki farm and its officers do not know who's right in this feud and shouldn't be taking the time to find out. My only role is to patrol your edits as non-vandalism, and even that is a waste of time. Spıke (talk)02:40 17-Jun-2019

Anti Sinistram AZ (talk)

@Anti Sinistram AZ: As I recall, the exact wording on the page was "Do not hack unless using a VPN" (emphasis mine). While yes, the next sentence did mention that it is illegal to hack, you were not discouraging them, rather you were telling them how to do it safely. Furthermore, even without mentioning illegal behavior, staff have set precedent that it is against global policy to setup raids against other wikis/platforms, whether or not they are on Miraheze. -- Void Whispers 22:13, 12 August 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Void yes. I was warning users that the activity of hacking was not safe. That is why I said to use a vpn to do so. I was not organizing the raid on the article, but I was rather simply telling viewers about it. It is not. Ring organized here and is being organized on our discord!

About an admin on Rotten Websites Wiki

There's an admin on https://rottenwebsites.miraheze.org/wiki/Rotten_Websites_Wiki named Vicious187. He has recently blocked a user named Seanbuscus2000 from the wiki, Awesome Games Wiki, and Crappy Games Wiki over the fact that he's part of the Reception Flame Wars Wiki. He's also done the same to users such as Mar9122, Portrock1566, and angrybirdsfanonmiraheze. What happened was that a user named Se made a forum post (which is now deleted) about Vicious over him blocking him from Rotten Websites Wiki. Because of this, Vicious is now blocking users who are part of that wiki, even if they didn't do anything wrong. He is not doing good. He's abusing his power. I will get more evidence if you want. What do you plan on doing with him? Eijitheawesome (talk) 04:08, 12 August 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Recent changes problem

Is there anything to do to fix the recent changes in Incredible Wikis and Users Wiki??? Here's the fucking link.

A problem on Loathsome Characters Wiki

A user called ChroniclesXII is causing chaos on the wiki I mentioned. More details can be seen here. Since he's a bureaucrat and admin on that wiki, he can only be stopped by a steward. --Seewater514 (talk) 21:10, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Seems to be handled locally for now. I'm only willing to step in if this continues to escalate, or if the local administration asks for the advanced rights to be removed. -- Void Whispers 21:31, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Update: Now he's asking for his rights to be removed and his account to be closed as seen in this talk page. --Seewater514 (talk) 22:41, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please ban me permanently (I mean it)

Void, you need to ban me permanently because I was a horrible influence to the Miraheze website. Please, you have to; I've committed the sins of Pride, Envy, and Wrath. Please ban me permanently. I was causing chaos on several wikis; especially the ones mentioned above. --ChroniclesXII (talk) 22:52, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm only going to remove your advanced rights for now. Please take some time to think about what you want. If this is truly what you've decided, come back to me tomorrow, in a week, or however long you need. If you need anything, I'll be here. Best wishes, -- Void Whispers 23:42, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I wonder if locking per self request is allowed based on our policies. Locking is a measure against abusive accounts. Besides, if users feel like leaving Miraheze, they can simply stop logging into their account(s) and leave, and I don't find the need for locking an account even if requested by the users themselves (unless we find their violation of our policies by ourselves).--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 07:59, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Did this user get hacked or something?

A user by the name of SoboKim recently made a bunch of angry posts on the Terrible TV Shows Wiki, where he/she insulted this website and the internet as a whole in all-caps, which resulted in the user getting blocked. Since these posts were very out-of-character, me and another user believe he/she got hacked. --Seewater514 (talk) 01:48, 15 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Question about mass deleting

Is there any way I can delete all pages included in a certain category at once? There's a category on Awesome Games Wiki that contains nothing but over 2,000 broken files, and I really don't want to spend hours going through the category deleting the files one at a time. --Seewater514 (talk) 04:29, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Seewater514: Hi, unfortunately MediaWiki does not have such a function yet. Please request this on Phabricator and the deletion will be performed by sysadmins. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:12, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Okay, I added the request. --Seewater514 (talk) 22:01, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Seewater514: Do you have the ReplaceText feature enabled on Awesome Games Wiki, Seewater? Thank u, next, Eiji (talk) 23:53, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It is enabled, but only admins are able to use it. --Seewater514 (talk) 05:49, 6 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Seewater514: Incase you didn't see the phabricator task, I have deleted every file in the Videos category, for you :) Also, I am sorry for spamming your recent changes on the wiki, the script doesn't allow me to set the deletion as a bot action. PKMNLivesNew

There’s a user called PKMNLivesNew. He told the FANDOM staff about the Reception Wikis, leading to them shutting them all down. He claims they “break the rules”, but I consider it BS. He’s an SJW, in a shell, as his anti-GamerGate views are well-known. He even admits to being one in this post on Crappy Games Wiki, which I found after looking through his contributions there.

I hope you can globally block him across the entire Miraheze network. If he notifies you about the wikis and tries to get you to shut them down, I kindly ask you, please do not listen to him at all.

I need some help with mobile Infobox styling

Hey there, I’m creating a wiki via Miraheze and I wish to know something. How can I style my infoboxes to look exactly like Wikipedia’s ones for mobile users? I asked this question on the Stewards' noticeboard and I was directed to ask you. Could you please give me some advice on this? Thanks for your time. RuffianLewis (talk) 03:47, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@RuffianLewis: I think I know a bit of infobox coding myself. Back in 2015, I learned it from Wikipedia. If you just go on Wikipedia's search and type in: Template:Infobox or Template:Infobox person, it gives you the full coding. Then on your wiki; create Template:Infobox and copy-paste the code and then it should work. I hope it helps! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Designing_infoboxes --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 06:15, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request to appoint new bureaucrats

Hey there, I have put this on steward's noticeboard so if its already on process you can ignore this. But I saw you have a user page in our wiki and maybe you're in-charge or something.

Our one and only bureaucrat in SideM Wiki is no longer active / unreachable for discussing things related to the wiki, even in discord. I want to request Mackenzietan and clay to be appointed as bureaucrats. Reason for choosing them is both of them are the admins that take care of the wiki during the inactive times. Can you help with it? Or is there anything we can do? Drgng (talk) 09:59, 27 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Drgng: Hi, sorry for being so slow about this. Has there been any sort of election or consensus created on SideM Wiki regarding the promotion of those two users? Without some sort of community consensus, we (stewards) cannot promote users over an active community. That is provided that there does not exist some other policy or documented method of appointing user rights on the wiki, which we would then follow instead. -- Void Whispers 13:15, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Has BSW been deleted? I'm willing to make any alterations to make it suited to the current content policy. --Wpetoi (talk) 20:42, 4 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My Message

Bad Scratch Wiki not only breaks the Content Policy, but is also the reason why the new update was established. So I fail to see why it should have a chance to stay. The founder is rarely active, and lacks the kindness of someone that should manage. Not only does BSW have bad management and insults, but it is a safeguard for vandalism. The Scratch Team wants the archives deleted, they want Bad Scratch Wiki deleted, and they want proof that we are respectful. I want to show the Scratch Team that we are really trying and that we will succeed in pleasing them. Please take what I said into consideration. I just want my friends to be happy again. WickyHoney (talk) 21:02, 4 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@WickyHoney: I am aware of that RfC, but since this was a pre-existing wiki which posts negative information about certain members, perhaps a compromise that would make everyone happy would be to make Bad Scratch Wiki a private wiki readable and editable only by a small group of people that want to post in that way? It wouldn't be publicly readable or indexed by any search engine. Just tossing this idea out there as it may placate everyone. Dmehus (talk) 17:21, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
An honorable proposal, but that will not do given that the background of the founder is undesirable. Wpetoi has committed crimes against my friends and I will not stand to let him have his way. He acts like a big business tycoon, but he's just a hot-air balloon. The wiki was created despite an agreement among the real members of Crummy Scratchers Wiki to never recreate CSW or a wiki similar to it, and after Wpetoi added that wiki my appeals have been met with stupidly short replies about how part of the agreement was to delete every archive and not bring back the CSW and yet Wpetoi is also ignoring the facts we give him and doesn't acknowledge that he is being inconsiderate and prone to lying. He lies about Bad Scratch Wiki being satire, and it obviously is not. He keeps calling our requests to close the wiki whining which shows that he is daft as well as only being able to handle his own bullshit. So, no, I will cut myself before I let Wpetoi have his way, and if my friends do not get unblocked soon then I will never understand what happiness is. Also, I don't think the Scratch Team will understand what I would be trying to convey if I said that vile wiki was "private". They want it deleted, not accessible by a small group. Sorry, but I don't like the idea. I am tired of people trying to hurt me and my friends, and everyone wants to these days, so I will not pander to inconsiderate jerks that want to take our dreams and use them to their delight. Thanks for the voicing the possibility, but it can't be done. WickyHoney (talk) 17:59, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree these wikis aren't very helpful and seem to exist only to mock beginner coders (that seems to be what the Scratch website is about) and their beginner coding errors, from the sounds of it. I just don't like the idea of globally locking his accounts, though could support closing of this wiki and providing an XML dump to Wpetoi if he desires to self-host himself (and take sole responsibility for any content he hosts)...I just think, if he wants to create and manage constructive wikis, he should be permitted to do that, but yes, I could support either closure of this wiki or making it private and inaccessible. Dmehus (talk) 19:38, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree with WickyHoney. Bad Scratch Wiki broke the content policy. It also results in the extension of blocks on Scratch. @Void:, I guess you should now consider deleting Bad Scratch Wiki since the founder is barely active. CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 23:24, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Techsupport Agent 05 Which wiki is this? Is the wiki you and another user were requesting to adopt? Aggressive spam and vandaling

Hello,

I am a reader of this beautiful wiki here: https://filehostlist.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

But recently, I've realised there is one guy who aggressively promotes his website on every page and spamming constantly for almost a month now. He is removing other useful content too. And he has two seperate accounts that I know of.

Accounts of this vandal: https://filehostlist.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Hakan-tr https://filehostlist.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Debrid34

When I saw this, at first I decided to sign up and try to rollback his actions but I can't help it only by myself. He is not giving up.

Also I'm just a regular user without any authorization. I guess mods/admins haven't been visiting their wiki for a while now. Therefore there is no blocking or ban mechanism working right now. I believe it would be perfect to just permaban him an his IP/accounts from the wiki.

So we need your help badly and immediately.

I hope you'll take care of the situation.

I've blocked, and restored an entry to the spamblacklist that previously prevented that site from being added anywhere. Let me know if similar behavior continues. I've also left a note with the local admin, just in case they're still around. -- Void Whispers 00:01, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you so much with that incredibly quick response and action! I'm really grateful. And also can you add this specific website that owned by this very spammer here: https://worldleech.site/ to the spamblacklist also please? It'll definitely prevent any future spam attempts by the same person. Again I appreciate all of it, you're great. Best regards... - Fhw — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fhw (talkcontribs) 16:33, 8 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)
I'm blind, I though the site they were spamming was multileech, but since it doesn't seem to be, I've updated the blacklist accordingly. -- Void Whispers 00:40, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It seems like, that website also had been spammed too in the past. I think adding both sites to that list wouldn't do harm by any means. Thanks for all the support. Cheers. - Fhw — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fhw (talkcontribs) 16:33, 8 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)
@Fhw: Please remember to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) so that both your username and timestamp are added to your talk and user talk page comments. I've added one for you, and another user has added another one for you, it looks like. Dmehus (talk) 17:06, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Fhw You're just a jealous and bad guy who can't handle my site — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hakan-tr (talkcontribs) 03:37, 9 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)

@Hakan-tr: I've noticed you have been modifying other users' comments in this thread, and forgetting to sign your own comments, too. You should refrain from the former, though I would  Support a retitling of this section to == Spam and Vandaling == per it being more neutrally and objectively titled, as I do agree that there's no need for that characterization as "aggressive." In any event, in future, you should ask for the section to be retitled per your reason(s), and I'm sure @Void: would be amenable to all reasonable requests. In terms of the latter, while it's less critical on non-automatically archived talk pages, signing posts helps us to help protect you against impersonation by quickly and easily locating whether, in fact, you posted something or something masquerading as you posted as if they were you. So, please try and remember to sign your posts on all talk pages. Dmehus (talk) 16:53, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Dmehus I don't know what you said to sign. Would you teach me how to do it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hakan-tr (talkcontribs) 12:21, 9 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)

@Hakan-tr: Well, I already added {{unsigned}} signatures for you using the {{unsigned}} template on this wiki, so nothing to do, but basically, when commenting on a talk or user talk page, you just end all posts with four tildes (~~~~) and it'll add the signature coding specified in your preferences, or global preferences if you've chosen to apply your preferences to all Miraheze-hosted wikis. Signatures typically go at the end of every comment. Does that help? Dmehus (talk) 19:43, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Hakan-tr: Also, I see you tried to {{ping}} me with the @ message. To send a notification to someone when you're replying, you can either use {{ping}} (like this, {{ping|username}}) on wikis that have the {{ping}} template imported, or you can use a wikilink linking to their username, like this (Hakan-tr). That will send you a notification as well. You don't have to pipe the wikilink, but doing so will remove the User: namespace prefix. Dmehus (talk) 19:49, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Dmehus thanks i will try  ;Hakan-tr (talk) 19:49, 9 July 2020 (UTC); this way?Reply[reply]

Yes, but move "; this way?" before your signature. Also, the {{ping}} didn't work, but doesn't look you tried that. Dmehus (talk) 19:51, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

test only I just started using this form, I'm sorry. I want to learn with time Hakan-tr (talk) 20:03, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Hakan-tr: No worries. You did it right this time! Yay! Feel free to click Special:MyPage/sandbox to create your own sandbox, or head over to RfP on Public Test Wiki to request testing administrator rights and play with even more tools, ideally in a sandbox. :) Dmehus (talk) 01:20, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hakan-tr

hi why are you deleting my edits, and you are blocking me? Hakan-tr (talk) 19:58, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please see the above section. If you disagree with that, please clarify why. -- Void Whispers 17:56, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I didn't do this for spam, I did it for correction purposes, also I don't accept it @ by Fhw He is removing other useful content too ----- I removed the sites that did not work, did useful work, for correct information

For example look and check http://onleech.me/ http://cboxpremiumleech.net/ https://fileleech.net/ http://leech7s.com http://leechpro.com these are not working I deleted and corrected this is it a crime?

@by Fhw this friend who complained about me, someone who doesn't want my site, unfortunately, please remove my blog i'm here for informational purposes only and I want it to be useful on my own site. https://worldleech.site/ works and provides live service :) Hakan-tr (talk) 19:51, 9 July 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hakan-tr (talkcontribs) 03:32, 9 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)Reply[reply]

A kitten for you for helping!

Thank you for locking the user I requested. And what about deleting BSW?

SSL Cert

Hi Steward, I hope all is well. I am trying to generate an SSL certificate so I can use my custom domain, securitylogwiki.org. I tried to go through the form provided in the help instruction but it would not send me an email verification. Any help would be welcome. Thanks! pseudorandomness — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psuedorandomness (talkcontribs) 00:26, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Psuedorandomness: I meant to follow up with you yesterday. Have you followed the instructions at custom domains? What, specifically, is the issue? For these sort of problems, you can usually resolve any technical issues by reaching out to a Miraheze staff member, steward, or community volunteer on Discord or IRC. Dmehus (talk) 21:50, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

could you help me how to change my username.

I don't know how to change my username. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162805O (talkcontribs) 20:36, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@162805O: You can go to Special:GlobalRenameRequest here on Meta, or on any Miraheze wiki, really, and initiate a rename request. A steward should process it within several days. Also, please try and remember to sign your posts on talk and user talk pages with ~~~~ as a bot relies on the timestamp data to archive threads, and it helps us with actioning your request. Thanks. In this case, @CircleyDoesExtracter: added an {{unsigned}} template for you. Dmehus (talk) 21:07, 14 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

restoring pages

First, thanks for your post.  :)

As per my section in the Steward's Noticeboard (Stewards' noticeboard#I FUBARed a few of my wiki's pages—now what?), I goofed, but not too seriously I think.

How, for example, do I restore this page I created months ago?

https://fictionandfictionalsettingswiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Badtitle/NS3007:DMBFFF_(FMRAV_User_page)/Dekadays_beginning_from_winter_solstice

Thanks.  :)    DMBFFF (talk) 00:54, 17 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Delete BSW already

Do not tell me that It will take a long process. It can be done in a minute. So I ask kindly to delete this wiki so we can have our accounts back https://static.miraheze.org/metawiki/5/53/BSWDeletedMessage.jpg --PowerDagger15 (talk) 15:38, 19 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@PowerDagger15: You have now cross-posted this message on Void's user talk page, on the Stewards' noticeboard, and perhaps other noticeboards or talk pages as well. As I said elsewhere, it's in the process of being deleted, but stewards have to follow due process. Cross-posting multiple requests to various locations will not expedite the process. Perhaps you might try contacting MIT's Scratch Team, inform them that Bad Scratch Wiki has now been made private, and ask again that they unblock you from their site? It's hidden from public view, so that should be enough for them and they need to revisit their stance, I think. Dmehus (talk) 15:44, 19 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Dmehus: Did you even see the picture?, those greedy dictators wanted more than just private — Preceding unsigned comment added by PowerDagger15 (talkcontribs) 16:09, 19 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have been waiting for my name change for a week

So can you please do it? --PowerDagger15 (talk) 22:57, 20 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello? --PowerDagger15 (talk) 17:34, 24 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Going through these now, slowly. If I do too many renames at once, they are likely to get stuck. -- Void Whispers 17:36, 24 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
