A request.[edit source]

Hello. I would like to be a bureaucrat on the wiki Controversial Wikis & Users Wiki (https://controversialwikisandusers.miraheze.org/). I am taking care of that wiki since it was close to getting inactive. Without me, that wiki would get closed down due to inactivity. And so I decided to become a bureaucrat on that wiki and some people there even want me to be it. So, what do you say? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlFilip19 (talkcontribs) 10:59, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@CarlFilip19:, if the wiki is not even inactive yet, it cannot be adopted. It can't be adopted until it's been in closed status. So, you really have two options: wait until it's closed, or organize a local election on that wiki, taking into account any local policies on the wiki governing local elections and promotions. Then, following the election or selection process (typically at least seven (7) days, but there's some leeway here), notify the stewards at Stewards' noticeboard or by tagging @Stewards on Discord to the diff or permalink to assess your local election. Hope this helps. Also, please remember to sign your posts with ~~~~. Dmehus (talk) 15:59, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Void:. I am not going to adopt this wiki. I just want to be a bureaucrat there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlFilip19 (talkcontribs) 17:33, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@CarlFilip19: Please try and remember to sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~. Thanks. As to your question, okay, but @Void: can't do anything as a steward without a request coming from the wiki. Thus, if you hold a local election or selection process, with clear parameters or specifications for your selection and election where no local policies exist, then after seven (7) days, you can come back here and {{ping}} Void to action the local request that has gone ignored by inactive bureaucrats. I apologize for the bureaucracy here, but this bureaucracy is useful bureaucracy in that it protects wikis from hostile takeovers that may have otherwise active bureaucrats. Dmehus (talk) 17:58, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Void: Here is proof that people on that wiki want me to be a bureaucrat: https://controversialwikisandusers.miraheze.org/wiki/User_talk:CarlFilip19. Also, is this how you sign with four tildes (look at the source)? CarlFilip19 (talk) 14:59, 4 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@CarlFilip19: A local bureaucrat election or selection process could theoretically occur anywhere on the wiki, and your user talk page, while somewhat less common, is a reasonable location. For what it's worth, I see only an anonymous user and one registered user expressing opinions. Nonetheless, this at least gives @Void: something by which he can assess. Dmehus (talk) 15:45, 4 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, how can the election start? If it involves a user, who can start it? CarlFilip19 (talk) 15:18, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@CarlFilip19: Well, it depends on the local wiki's election rules, if any. If they do not have any local rules, then global policies, conventions, and customs guide stewards. Common practice is to organize either a community discussion or poll (if the wiki has the polling extension) in a prominent location. You could set the election timeframe, but common global practice is that the election should run for at least 5-7 calendar days. When it has concluded, you would return to Void's user talk page or, ideally, to Stewards' noticeboard, linking to the location on the local wiki where the election was held. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 16:14, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Void: @Dmehus: Thanks. But it will not be easy for me to do. Why? Because now when I try accessing a Miraheze page on my computer, the page does not work and I see a white screen with the message and an "HTTP ERROR 400" thing. It used to happen occasionally so I could access for a short amount of time, but now I cannot access these pages at all with my computer. I wrote this message with my phone, which is inferior for navigation through the wikis (I had to type the entire URL of certain pages (like the special Recent Changes page at a wiki) to get there). May you please do something about how Miraheze pages cannot be accessed by some computers (including modern ones and my computer is modern)? CarlFilip19 (talk) 14:03, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
((talk-page stalker)) @CarlFilip19: Hi. I'd like to point out that HTTP ERROR 400 is not something that Miraheze is causing and it is a client side error. Perhaps this help page will be able to help you fix it, though I recommend trying to clear your cache and cookies for Miraheze to begin. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:19, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
(edit conflict) @CarlFilip19: I use a desktop PC to access the Miraheze wikis, without issue, and prefer the navigation to the mobile navigation. As to the HTTP error 400, I believe that may likely be an issue with your cookies. Try clearing (deleting) all your cookies for the *.miraheze.org domain and restarting your web browser. User page's[edit source]

Hey there how do you create a user page? --Admiral SpongeBob (talk) 11:43, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Admiral SpongeBob: There are two types of user pages, local user pages and global user pages that appear on every Miraheze wiki on which your account has been attached (i.e., you visited that wiki at least once) and where you've not created a local user page. If you would like to have a local user page on Meta alone, then you just click on the user link in this thread, and begin by creating your new page. If you want a global user page, then you will go to mh:login:User:Admiral SpongeBob and create your page. Note that you may wish to perform a few edits, perhaps in your sandbox, and wait until your account is at least four days old, so that you become autoconfirmed, if you want to link to your social media profiles on external websites. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 12:13, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Notice this message, PLEASE[edit source]

I have kindly asked on the adoption requests if I could adopt Horrible Music and Songs Wiki on Miraheze. Could you let me adopt it please? I will take good care of it and help revive it and put it back into quality. So could you please let me become the new owner? - Disintegrated.to.pieces (talk) 22:16, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Disintegrated.to.pieces: I've replied at Requests for adoption; the wiki is not "closed," so it cannot be undertaken. Instead, what you can do, if the wiki has no active bureaucrats, is hold a local election, taking care to abide by any local policies governing such elections or selections. If no local policies exist, typically, this means holding some sort of election, or vote, that runs at least seven calendar days and lists the candidates for election and the number of bureaucrat vacancies available. When the local process has concluded, you would return to Stewards' noticeboard ideally, as there are other stewards besides @Void: who can assess your local election, and a steward will assess your process and take the appropriate action(s) necessary (typically, by granting rights to the successful candidate(s)). Sockpuppet report.[edit source]

Hello. Inkster has a sockpuppet called "Cerok" and this is what he is going to do with it:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HXGFKHJgxx19cN68iw70CSECRdXpYmcjNVV8AYCNwz4/edit?usp=sharing

Yes. The New Reception Wiki does take pages from other wikis, but it tries to do a better (and less biased) take on these pages due to how some wikis (like Toxic Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki) are a bit unreasonable.

May you globally lock that account "Cerok"? CarlFilip19 (talk) 13:30, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

P.S. For sefety reasons, try not to tell him who reported this account. Okay? CarlFilip19 (talk) 13:41, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

(edit conflict) @CarlFilip19:, thank you for signing your posts with four tildes (~~~~). @Void: is only one steward and for reports of users allegedly abusing multiple accounts, per user accounts policy, your best bet is probably to e-mail stewards(at)miraheze.org, but note that you will be expected to cite on-wiki behavioural evidence, with specific links to the diffs or permalinks to the individual revisions of the similar activity by all user accounts referenced in your report. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 13:46, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Dmehus: I do not know what you mean, but this link to a Google Document is all the evidence I have that Cerok is Inkster. Look man, "Cerok" blocked me on The New Reception Wiki (https://thenewreceptionwiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges) and hid edit revisions to hide evidence! I also got banned from the Discord server "The Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki Database", perhaps because to prevent me from getting more evidence. Okay? CarlFilip19 (talk) 19:08, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@CarlFilip19: I'm not suggesting this is the case, but I also haven't looked at that Google document, but the reason for requiring on-wiki evidence is to prove that the wiki user being reported is the same user as on other websites. If that is just a simple compilation of your diffs or permalinks that you've collected, then I should still suggest reporting this to stewards(at)miraheze.org as opposed to Void's user talk page, per my comments above that we have more than one steward. So, it makes sense for these reports to be provided to all stewards. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 19:28, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's pretty painfully obvious that these two accounts (Cerok and Inkster) are the same user. However, the accounts haven't really engaged in behavior warranting sanctions yet. You can point someone this way to confirm that they are the same, and if further issues occur, please let me know. -- Void Whispers 00:16, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help with protection.[edit source]

I would like to become a bureaucrat on this wiki: https://terriblenicheaudienceshows.miraheze.org/wiki/ Because I want this attempt to be decent and I want to protect it from toxic preschool show haters who would make history repeat itself. I want to be made into a bureaucrat by a global sysop since the owner of the wiki is not around and there are no active admins there. If I can improve that wiki, I can finally turn it into a decent place for people to tell people what is wrong with the flawed preschool shows and I can protect pages about good ones from being created. That rule about "no niché audience shows" TTVSW has? That only applies on that wiki (plus, Best TV Shows Wiki has pages about good niché audience shows). Read the main page of "terriblenicheaudienceshows" for more information for this wiki (ignoring the people wanting it shut down). CarlFilip19 (talk) 08:26, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@CarlFilip19: What's the status of that wiki, inactive, closed, or open? Regardless, you can always hold a clear local election consistent with any local policies on that wiki, as may exist, in a prominent location. Where no rules exist locally, you should state the position(s) up for election, the number of position(s) to be elected, the net support ratio required to be elected, and then list the candidates running. You should also state how many participants are required to express a view, too, and the election should be open for roughly at least, or close to, seven (7) calendar days. When it has concluded, you can either (a) report the location of the results to Stewards' noticeboard or (b) e-mail stewards(at)miraheze.org with the name and URL of the wiki, the location of the results, and ask for steward action where there are no active, local bureaucrats. Thanks. (talk page stalker) Dmehus (talk) 14:42, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well then. Tell me step-by-step how I hold an election. What buttons I have to click and such. CarlFilip19 (talk) 17:10, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@CarlFilip19: I feel as though I've already given you pretty thorough step-by-step instructions above, and thus, further instruction is not needed. Hope this helps. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:29, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Rename request[edit source]

Ey, can you change my name to Glitchedblood? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Glitchmaster (talkcontribs) 11:13, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Glitchmaster: First, as a housekeeping matter, please remember to sign your talk page and noticeboard posts on Meta with four tildes (~~~~) to add your username, talk page link, and timestamp to your posts. Second, you can request a global rename yourself at Special:GlobalRenameRequest. If you have already requested this, great. Your request will be processed, generally, in the order it was received (though users with few global contributions and attached accounts may be processed first given that those requests take less time for the jobrunner to process). Most renames are usually completed within since having been first requested. Hope this helps. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:27, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Is there any other objectives I need to do for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Glitchmaster (talkcontribs) 21:46, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Glitchmaster: Firstly, please remember to sign your talk page, user talk page, and noticeboard posts with four tildes (~~~~). Secondly, am I to assume correctly you've requested a rename through Special:GlobalRenameRequest? If so, then you've done all that needs to be done, and a steward will process your request, generally, within 1-2 weeks time. It's usually closer to one week, though. Thanks. A wiki website statement hosted in Miraheze.[edit source]

Dear Administer: Recently, we learned that some people intend to report to Miraheze after the content of the game encyclopedic book(Chinese:游戏百科书wiki) wiki is published in violation of the Miraheze Terms of Service, the People's Republic of China and the laws of the United Kingdom, and the gamencypedia wiki strongly condemns such a sloppy idea! If the game encyclopedic book wiki found such content, will be involved in the personnel to carry out a minimum of 1000 years of prohibition measures, if necessary, we will try our best to cooperate with any country and region of the relevant departments to investigate, if the above-mentioned situation, the game encyclopedic book wiki will retain the right of receding! Serious cases will immediately report to the Public Security Department of the People's Republic of China to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests granted to us by the law and the miraheze Terms of Service! Help. We have a problem on the Horrible Vyonders Wiki.[edit source]

I hope you, Reception123 and the rest of the staff can resolve this issue about the fake Elias D accounts. It's occurring on this article: https://horriblevyonderswiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Elias_D_The_Vyonder DarkMatterMan4500 {talk} 23:59, 16 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@DarkMatterMan4500: I note that you have now posted this on two users' talk pages. Your posts will get more attention on stewards' noticeboard, which all stewards and Global Sysops monitor. Or, alternatively, consider joining us on Discord or IRC for even faster response. Dmehus (talk) 01:12, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

These wikis are harassing and doxxing users.[edit source]

These wikis to be precise Atrocious YouTubers Wiki, Horrible Vyonders Wiki, and Unfavorable Wikis and Users Wiki.

They are harassing users, and they hate SJWs. We need them banned ASAP. — Preceding unsigned comment added by D Mob (talkcontribs) 18:53, 18 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@D Mob: As I previously and also stated here on my user talk page, first, while I am not a steward, I will say that I, too, have noticed highly problematic content on those wikis. However, your reports will get more attention of stewards if you link to a series of pages on each of the wikis and explain how and in what way(s) the given wikis are violating Content Policy and their users are violating the Code of Conduct. In terms of the latter, linking to specific revisions and/or specific users' Special:Contributions pages on the given given wikis is also helpful. Second, you should remember to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). Third, you should also, ideally, make only one post, ideally on stewards' noticeboard, but it is also acceptable to use a steward's or my user talk page, and I'll forward your report to a steward. Finally, please do not change other users' posts, as you did here, which has been reverted. If I see that again, in such an egregious manner, I will have no choice but to temporarily block or partially block you on Meta to prevent this egregious disruptive editing. As well, activities like that seriously undermine your credibility in what might otherwise be the early workings of a very legitimate complaint to stewards. Problem with vandal (and that's not all)[edit source]

Hi. I have a problem on nonciclopedia.org with a serial vandal that makes me difficult even to report himself. No admin is active now on that site and I don't want to fall into an edit war. Can you give it a glance?

Moreover, I cannot access with my own credentials due to a "problem with authentication script", but only here on Meta. I'm User:Sacro Riglionese Impero and I'm writing as an anonymous user.--IP editor 21:28, 24 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Sacro Riglionese Impero: I'm not sure about that authentication script problem you are having, but I will alert system administrators to that problem, and Counter Vandalism Team to the vandalism problem on that wiki. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 22:29, 24 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Sacro Riglionese Impero: The IP vandal has been  locally blocked by Global Sysop @Zppix:. Regarding your login issue, the good news is it is most likely a client-side issue, and you just need to clear your web browser's cookies and local cache for *.miraheze.org or ignore the error message likely warning you about session hijacking and just hit "login" again. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 22:43, 24 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Zppix and Dmehus: Thanks for the help, but he is back at it. As you can see, he is engaging in edit wars and vandalizing talk and project pages.--Sacro Riglionese Impero (talk) 08:44, 27 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Sacro Riglionese Impero: I'm glad you were able to resolve your login issue (likely client-side, I'm guessing). Regarding the recurring vandalism, thank you for your report, and I'm sure @Zppix and Void: will be by with their IP address banhammer soon enough. Would you help me please? I really appreciate it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cfd005 (talkcontribs) 04:24, 2 October 2020‎ (UTC)

@Cfd005: First, welcome to Meta and to the Miraheze community. Second, (Please sign your posts on talk pages by using four tildes like this: ~~~~.). Third, to your question, this looks like a fairly straightforward gadget installation that is not too dissimilar to from setting up the Navigation Popups gadget. Though not required, have you considered engaging with us on our Discord or IRC server? It's quite easy to do—the former requires only a Discord account, and you can verify your Discord account with your wiki account using OAuth. The latter doesn't require an account, but will note your IP address unless you request a Miraheze IRC cloak from a system administrator. You can access the IRC server easily at #miraheze connect. In any case, for these sort of one-on-one, highly personalized wiki technical support questions, they really are the best channel for the quickest resolution to your problem, as wikitext is somewhat sub-optimal for repeated back-and-forth chat-like question and answer discussions. I'm sorry about blocking you on my wiki.[edit source]

I'm sorry for blocking you on wiki.ostans.com. You were probably the poor steward who took on the case of a harassing spammer I brought up on an old account.

In my paranoia, I blocked you, assuming you were the spammer. I just now noticed that you were, in fact, not the spammer.

I'm sure you don't really care about participating on the wiki in question, but I'm sorry that I impeded your volunteering in paranoia.

Something Unexpected Happened[edit source]

I'm Shaunak Chakraborty, the founder of Gyaanipedia. Today when I landed to its English site https://en.gyaanipedia.co.in I saw something unexpected, it was showing Closed Wiki box on its top[1], in my knowledge this box automatically appears when a wiki has been not edited for 60 days but this wiki is last edited few hours ago and the most active wiki in the Gyaanipedia projects. Then I found others Gyaanipedia wikis also which is hosted on Miraheze has been closed, which is totally weird. I immediately unchecked the closed box in every wiki. All these wikis has been last edited few hours or days ago. I just want to know that Is this a planned act or a mistake/bug. Please look at this case and kindly let me know that now my wikis are safe or now. There are a lots of hardwork of years in this wikis. Thanking you with due respect. Shaunak Chakraborty (talk) 14:16, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello, if the wiki has not been edited for 60 days it will close the wiki and you can request for a steward to reopen it via stewards noticeboard, and yes if Wikis are not edited in a certain amount of time (60 days) it will automatically close the wiki, the reason the message still appears is because a admin crate or steward needs to reopen the wiki. Import wiki[edit source]

I am the owner of Gyaanipedia https://en.gyaanipedia.co.in I also have a fandom site https://gyaanipedia.fandom.com which have 93k articles. Now I want to make a copy of this fandom wiki and want to import it to the Miraheze wiki. As we know that Special:Import/Export is very time consuming so is there any other way to do that? Please help me Shaunak Chakraborty (talk) 10:36, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Shaunak Chakraborty: I have answered this on stewards' noticeboard for you. Arguably, the best place to ask this question would've been at community noticeboard, as it is a technical question regarding your wiki. Nevertheless, please try and avoid asking duplicate questions on multiple noticeboards, including de facto noticeboards, such as Void's user talk page. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:07, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you for informing this. I am very sorry for my act. I will be careful from next time. Shaunak Chakraborty (talk) 15:34, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Shaunak Chakraborty: It's  not a problem, as our noticeboards can be a bit confusing. Basically, stewards' noticeboard is for any issues with your or other wikis' that require a steward tools to act, community noticeboard is for any technical support-type questions regarding your wiki, pan Miraheze community proposals, and local interwiki change requests, and Meta:Administrators' noticeboard is for anything on Meta that doesn't seem quite right or which should be changed. @LordOfSin: Firstly, please do try and remember to sign your posts on all talk pages, user talk pages, and noticeboards with four tildes (~~~~). Secondly, welcome to Meta. Thirdly, I would strongly caution you against requesting another wiki in just a few hours. You should take a few days and commit to your new wiki's topic before requesting it. Thanks. I see, well I really decided to scrap the idea of putting it on Miraheze, considering the fact that I've lost interest, I just want it deleted and I don't know how to sign posts on talk pages and the like. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LordOfSin (talkcontribs) 15:30, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

To your question, please go into Special:ManageWiki on your wiki, select the "closed" and "private" boxes, and then sysop protect your wiki's Main Page, and your wiki will be automatically deleted per Dormancy Policy, requiring no further steward action. Close Controversial Wikis & Users Wiki. It is another "user wiki".[edit source]

https://controversialwikisandusers.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page CarlFilip19 (talk) 06:33, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@CarlFilip19: I've had a brief look at the wiki in question and, while I do personally find what little content is available on that wiki to be at least somewhat objectionable, I think it's probably an edge case, at best, for Stewards to take any action in accordance with Content Policy. That being said, there's also not much on that wiki that is honestly worth keeping, to be honest. So, rather than Stewards entangling themselves in something that should be resolved locally, my preference would be for this to be locally handled. Noting that the wiki's sole bureaucrat, Se, has never made a contribution to the wiki and the wiki is largely inactive, here's how I recommend you approach this, which would see you hold a local election on the wiki for the position of bureaucrat. Since the wiki has no local permissions elections policies, global customs and conventions can be taken into consideration, which means that the election should last for at least 5-7 calendar days.
You would begin by creating an election page on that wiki, on a prominent page, stating the number and type of position(s) you're running for (i.e., administrator, bureaucrat), the name(s) of the candidate(s) running, the minimum support ratio required for a successful election, and whether an election can be declared successful after the minimum timeframe if no one expresses a view (i.e., election by acclamation). Once your process has concluded (recommended to last for at least 5-7 calendar days), return to stewards' noticeboard and, in a new thread, state the wiki address, local location of the election, and a steward will assess your local election in absence of a local bureaucrat.
Once that process has concluded, you would then be able to request that a steward remove any inactive bureaucrat(s) from the wiki, and close and make private that wiki. Current steward convention is that manually closed wikis are ineligible for adoption at Requests for adoption. In addition, while preference is for Dormancy Policy to take care of the deletion in six months time, if your wiki's community held a further second local vote for accelerated deletion, Stewards can be requested to facilitate deletion of your wiki in consideration of that local consensus. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 03:41, 17 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

years long edited wiki has vanished[edit source]

Hi

I seem to have lost https://grivalibrary.miraheze.org I have been working on it for years, and have not recently backed it up an unpleasant surprise I tried opening it in the last hour or so and it seems to be not there

hope you are able to help

@JarrahTree: Hello, it looks like your wiki has been deleted per the Dormancy Policy. You should be able to find a backup on archive.org. I can reapprove your original request so that the wiki is created again. After that, you can email tech(at)miraheze.org with the dump so that System Administrators can recover the content of your wiki. I hope this helps. Thank you. R4356th (talk) 11:17, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have no idea what is happening, but I just tried then and the wiki has been resurrected. Thank you for your help (over the years) all the best for the new year, best wishes. what do I have to do to make it undeletable? sorry I am very much an older and more forgetful type these days overand (talk) 12:52, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@JarrahTree: You need to make a request for exemption following Dormancy Policy#Exemptions from the Dormancy Policy. R4356th (talk) 12:58, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@JarrahTree: For starters, you will need to request a new wiki, as I don't really like the idea, for tracking purposes, of R4356th reapproving your original request again. Once that's done, we can check with @Reception123: to see if there's still a private backup of your wiki. If there is, then it can be reimported easily. If there is not and it was a public wiki, there should be an XML dump of your wiki at The Internet Archive, which can also be reimported. Search for "miraheze" and/or grivalibrarywiki on The Internet Archive, and hopefully something turns up. Only after all has been done should you request a Dormancy Policy exemption. Dmehus (talk) 16:35, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In order for us to be able to easily find it, it would be helpful if you could let us know (at least approximately): the last time you edited the wiki and whether it was a public wiki or a private wiki. Reception123 (talk) (C) 16:38, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Dmehus and Reception123: "but I just tried then and the wiki has been resurrected" -I believe their wiki was not even deleted. R4356th (talk) 16:58, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
R4356th That's a bit confusing, but I just discounted that statement as the user may be a non-native English speaking user, so the effect of what was trying to be said was lost in translation. As far as I can tell, the wiki doesn't exist, but I will check Special:DeletedWikis. Dmehus (talk) 17:06, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
R4356th So it appears that the wiki @JarrahTree: quoted above has indeed been deleted, so would have to be restored from an Internet Archive or private wiki backup (if available). Regarding your point above, looking at this wiki request, it appears the wiki was recreated as griyalibrarywiki. JarrahTree, please let us know if this is sufficient, or if you still need your original wiki restored. Dmehus (talk) 17:12, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Dmehus: That is exactly what I thought. They made a typo. :P R4356th (talk) 17:15, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Looks like the possible confusion here is that the wiki is called griyalibrary.miraheze.org instead of grivalibrary.miraheze.org, as you had originally linked to. Again, if you want to make your wiki excluded from the dormancy policy (to be absolutely sure it is not deleted), please let us know. -- Void Whispers 18:13, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Void: Yeah, see my reply above. The user did originally have grivalibrarywiki, but that wiki was deleted, presumably, according to Dormancy Policy. They apparently recreated griyalibrarywiki, as a private wiki, and whether that wiki became inactive or closed, I'm not certain. In any event, what remains unclear is whether they wanted us to see if grivalibrarywiki could be restored and recreated, or if griyalibrarywiki is sufficient. It seems the user is content with the latter, so yeah, all that (likely) remains to be known is whether they require a Dormancy Policy exemption or not. I want to change my username[edit source]

I want it as Brownie the Quincy Elf — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nina Brownie Einstein the Quincy Elf (talkcontribs) 03:49, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nina Brownie Einstein the Quincy Elf Hi, you can request a rename of your account on Special:GlobalRenameRequest! HeartsDo (Talk / Global / Wiki Creator) 06:09, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nina Brownie the Quincy Elf To add to what HeartsDo said, you previously requested a rename from KawhiMidoriya1 less than four months ago, in August 2020. While there's no formal timeframe one should keep their username, a suggested best practice is to limit username changes to more than one username per twelve (12) calendar months. Changing usernames too frequently creates both technical issues and community confusion, the latter of which it becomes quite difficult to remember who someone is. In your case, this is a minor amendment to your username, so I have no issues processing this request, but I would just like you to provide an on-wiki confirmation that you intend to use this new username for the longer term (i.e., at least 12 months, and hopefully longer). Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 11:31, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Brownie the Quincy Elf Though I would've preferred to have you confirm that you intend on keeping the requested username for the very long term (i.e., at least the next 12-24 months, and preferably longer), since your request said you simply wanted to shorten your existing username, I have inferred that you you do indeed to keep this username for the very long term if not indefinitely. Additionally, this was only your third username change, which, admittedly, is still a bit too many. Nevertheless, I've now  completed this request for you, and will follow up separately on your new user talk page here on Meta. Dmehus (talk) 23:48, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oversights[edit source]

Hi Void! You granted yourself Oversight rights and apparently you suppress three of my edits on the Stewards' noticeboard page. If I may ask, why? Did I do something wrong? Of course, I just tried to help the user and then welcome him. --Anton (talk) 14:46, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Anton No, you didn't do anything wrong. Oversight is most commonly used to suppress inadvertent disclosure of personally identifying information, such as an editor has confirmed to have or is most likely to have edited while logged out. We can't catch all such instances ourselves, so we do rely on user reports. However, requests for oversight should not be requested on-wiki. Instead, e-mail links to specific revisions to stewards(at)miraheze.org or, if you are on Discord or IRC, you can also DM any Steward. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:39, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello there. I am new to this (Miraheze and MediaWiki) and can't seem to understand how to set up an infobox for my wiki. Its been frustrating me as that is one of the main features I was looking forward to. The few guides I've seen don't seem to work for me. And many of the methods say I do not have permission. Thanks in advance. -CoC — Preceding unsigned comment added by Count of Canova (talkcontribs) 17:28, 8 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Requested for checkuser Rights on Nicolopedia[edit source]

@Void: I come here for checkuser rights I created nicolopedia wiki only on my request I am manager, bureaucrat and interference manager on that wiki. The special reason for this right is that there is no checkuser on my wiki and I want this right that if someone then works on the wiki by creating multiple accounts from him, then knowing his IP will help in blocking all his accounts. Thanks and Best Regards Jiggyziz (talk) 04:43, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello Jiggyziz. Void (or any other steward) can't grant you CheckUser access on any of the wiki unless you follow the procedure. In the words of Doug, you must sign NDA with Miraheze Limited. This includes being eligible to sign a Miraheze Limited NDA (which the Miraheze Limited Board Secretary would verify) and you must undergo a local election on the wiki where the permission is being requested, and that local election must meet the requirements for Stewardship. That is to say, the user's local election must have had at least 20 unique persons to have expressed a view (positive, negative, or neutral), with a minimum net 80% support ratio (support/neutral less any opposing views). If the requirements are met, that is, you got a minimum of 80% support and at least 20 users shared their view, then request on the Stewards' noticeboard to be granted the right. Don't forget to link to the page where the discussion was held. Hope this helps! ~ Mazzaz (talk) 05:48, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Jiggyziz Please note that per Meta:Requests for permissions, "CheckUser and Oversight rights will not be granted except under exceptional circumstances". If you need a CheckUser against any user, simply leave a notice on the Stewards' noticeboard or ask on IRC or Discord. Thanks! Agent Isai Talk to me! 06:02, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Raidarr asked me to contact you for this[edit source]

Idk if you have heard but there is an ongoing discussion regarding me being continuously unfairly blocked on Qualitipedia. Several threads have been brought up regarding the issue, including a few on Steward's noticeboard. You can find links to them in my contributions, as well as more proof, and the discussion is more in-depth. The original thread is called "Please help" and there are two others that have proof regarding the situation. Raidarr closed two of the threads, despite the original thread being dead. He also told me to wait a week and then contact a steward, and he said you were the most active. More information on the situation can be found on Steward's noticeboard. And an additional comment: MarioMario456 was actually given a warning on his talk page and had his autopatrolled privileges revoked, though MarioMario456 seems to have ignored the warning. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:01, 3 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also, Duchess and I just had an hour long discussion on his talk page where he kept on demanding that I retire from Qualitipedia, and said that he wouldn't delete the personal attack blog that he made unless I retired. He then kept on saying that he did not want me to be on Qualitipedia and acted like my presence on Qualitipedia caused chaos when that is not true. He keeps on saying that Qualitipedia would be better off without me and saying that Encyclopedia SpongeBobia is peaceful because I am not there, when Qualitipedia and Encyclopedia SpongeBobia are completely unrelated. This is not even with other users: When I repeatedly told him that other users would not care if I was unblocked since they were not involved in this, he kept on saying that he did not want me to leave and saying that Qualitipedia would be peaceful without me. It seems like Duchess's behavior is even more severe than MarioMario456's since while MarioMario456 only joined the drama recently, Duchess hates me with a burning passion and has been out to get me since before I even joined Qualitipedia and Miraheze in general. He hated me even before I knew he existed. The warning that you gave MarioMario456 was ignored, and for some reason Duchess got no warning whatsoever.
@RhinosF1: You told me not to keep spreading this, but every single thread I make about this keeps on dying, and this issue still has not been resolved. Void is not active. Should I carry on the discussion to Dmehus's talk page, since unlike what you said, Dmehus seems to be very active. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:40, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, and that's what I'd recommend, to be honest. Work with the user on a set of wikis where you haven't had significant trouble with them, and evaluate if you would be comfortable engaging with them in other wikis. -- Void Whispers 19:41, 16 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
