How do i add announcements, ents to our wiki?[edit source]

Like the gray thingy on top of each page as an announcement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OldDirtyFoamer (talkcontribs)

Hey, Void.[edit source]

Why did you delete the Raid On Liberapedia section? We told users not to hack, and that it is against US law to. Why Is it deleted?

Anti Sinistram AZ (talk)

@Anti Sinistram AZ: As I recall, the exact wording on the page was "Do not hack unless using a VPN" (emphasis mine). While yes, the next sentence did mention that it is illegal to hack, you were not discouraging them, rather you were telling them how to do it safely. Furthermore, even without mentioning illegal behavior, staff have set precedent that it is against global policy to setup raids against other wikis/platforms, whether or not they are on Miraheze. -- Void Whispers 22:13, 12 August 2019 (UTC)

@Void yes. I was warning users that the activity of hacking was not safe. That is why I said to use a vpn to do so. I was not organizing the raid on the article, but I was rather simply telling viewers about it. It is not. Ring organized here and is being organized on our discord!

About an admin on Rotten Websites Wiki[edit source]

There's an admin on https://rottenwebsites.miraheze.org/wiki/Rotten_Websites_Wiki named Vicious187. He has recently blocked a user named Seanbuscus2000 from the wiki, Awesome Games Wiki, and Crappy Games Wiki over the fact that he's part of the Reception Flame Wars Wiki. He's also done the same to users such as Mar9122, Portrock1566, and angrybirdsfanonmiraheze. What happened was that a user named Se made a forum post (which is now deleted) about Vicious over him blocking him from Rotten Websites Wiki. Because of this, Vicious is now blocking users who are part of that wiki, even if they didn't do anything wrong. He is not doing good. He's abusing his power. I will get more evidence if you want. What do you plan on doing with him? Eijitheawesome (talk) 04:08, 12 August 2019 (UTC)

UPDATE: Vicious187 has just slandered Atrocious YouTubers Wiki, Reception Flame Wars Wiki, and Flawless FANDOM Users Wiki. He's calling us troll sites and is now going to mercilessly block whoever is a member of those wikis, even if they did nothing wrong! Do something! https://crappygames.miraheze.org/wiki/Blog:For_anybody_thats_an_admin_on_the_mainline_reception_wikis. Eijitheawesome (talk) 04:23, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

A problem on Loathsome Characters Wiki[edit source]

A user called ChroniclesXII is causing chaos on the wiki I mentioned. More details can be seen here. Since he's a bureaucrat and admin on that wiki, he can only be stopped by a steward. --Seewater514 (talk) 21:10, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Seems to be handled locally for now. I'm only willing to step in if this continues to escalate, or if the local administration asks for the advanced rights to be removed. -- Void Whispers 21:31, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
Update: Now he's asking for his rights to be removed and his account to be closed as seen in this talk page. --Seewater514 (talk) 22:41, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Please ban me permanently (I mean it)[edit source]

Void, you need to ban me permanently because I was a horrible influence to the Miraheze website. Please, you have to; I've committed the sins of Pride, Envy, and Wrath. Please ban me permanently. I was causing chaos on several wikis; especially the ones mentioned above. --ChroniclesXII (talk) 22:52, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

I'm only going to remove your advanced rights for now. Please take some time to think about what you want. If this is truly what you've decided, come back to me tomorrow, in a week, or however long you need. If you need anything, I'll be here. Best wishes, -- Void Whispers 23:42, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
I wonder if locking per self request is allowed based on our policies. Locking is a measure against abusive accounts. Besides, if users feel like leaving Miraheze, they can simply stop logging into their account(s) and leave, and I don't find the need for locking an account even if requested by the users themselves (unless we find their violation of our policies by ourselves).--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 07:59, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

A user by the name of SoboKim recently made a bunch of angry posts on the Terrible TV Shows Wiki, where he/she insulted this website and the internet as a whole in all-caps, which resulted in the user getting blocked. Question about mass deleting[edit source]

Is there any way I can delete all pages included in a certain category at once? There's a category on Awesome Games Wiki that contains nothing but over 2,000 broken files, and I really don't want to spend hours going through the category deleting the files one at a time. --Seewater514 (talk) 04:29, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

@Seewater514: Hi, unfortunately MediaWiki does not have such a function yet. Please request this on Phabricator and the deletion will be performed by sysadmins. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:12, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Okay, I added the request. --Seewater514 (talk) 22:01, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

It is enabled, but only admins are able to use it. --Seewater514 (talk) 05:49, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
@Seewater514: Incase you didn't see the phabricator task, I have deleted every file in the Videos category, for you :) Also, I am sorry for spamming your recent changes on the wiki, the script doesn't allow me to set the deletion as a bot action. PKMNLivesNew[edit source]

There’s a user called PKMNLivesNew. He told the FANDOM staff about the Reception Wikis, leading to them shutting them all down. He claims they “break the rules”, but I consider it BS. He’s an SJW, in a shell, as his anti-GamerGate views are well-known. He even admits to being one in this post on Crappy Games Wiki, which I found after looking through his contributions there.

I hope you can globally block him across the entire Miraheze network. If he notifies you about the wikis and tries to get you to shut them down, I kindly ask you, please do not listen to him at all.

I need some help with mobile Infobox styling[edit source]

Hey there, I’m creating a wiki via Miraheze and I wish to know something. How can I style my infoboxes to look exactly like Wikipedia’s ones for mobile users? I asked this question on the Stewards' noticeboard and I was directed to ask you. Could you please give me some advice on this? Thanks for your time. RuffianLewis (talk) 03:47, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

@RuffianLewis: I think I know a bit of infobox coding myself. Back in 2015, I learned it from Wikipedia. If you just go on Wikipedia's search and type in: Template:Infobox or Template:Infobox person, it gives you the full coding. Then on your wiki; create Template:Infobox and copy-paste the code and then it should work. I hope it helps! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Designing_infoboxes --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 06:15, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
@8ight: Thanks for that, but unfortunately I can’t find the direct css coding for the infoboxes, especially for the mobile versions. Do you think you could help me? Thanks. RuffianLewis (talk) 13:42, 20 January 2020 (UTC)

Request to appoint new bureaucrats[edit source]

Hey there, I have put this on steward's noticeboard so if its already on process you can ignore this. But I saw you have a user page in our wiki and maybe you're in-charge or something.

Our one and only bureaucrat in SideM Wiki is no longer active / unreachable for discussing things related to the wiki, even in discord. I want to request Mackenzietan and clay to be appointed as bureaucrats. Reason for choosing them is both of them are the admins that take care of the wiki during the inactive times. Can you help with it? Or is there anything we can do? Drgng (talk) 09:59, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

@Drgng: Hi, sorry for being so slow about this. Has there been any sort of election or consensus created on SideM Wiki regarding the promotion of those two users? Without some sort of community consensus, we (stewards) cannot promote users over an active community. That is provided that there does not exist some other policy or documented method of appointing user rights on the wiki, which we would then follow instead. -- Void Whispers 13:15, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
@Void: It's ok, at least now I know what to do, will do the poll and get back here with the results once its done Drgng (talk) 04:55, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

About a page you deleted on CGW.[edit source]

A while back you deleted a page on Crappy Games Wiki about YandereDev due to it looking like baseless accusations. @Seewater514: Correct, the page is not ready nor do I believe it will ever be. Zppix (Meta | CVT Member | talk to me) 02:34, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
Just out of curiosity, is the page allowed to stay as a sandbox page or does it need to be deleted because of it getting rejected? --Seewater514 (talk) 04:36, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Message[edit source]

Hey Void, I replied to your message on my talk page on my wiki. I don't know if you saw it yet. --Wpetoi (talk) 20:38, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Has BSW been deleted? I'm willing to make any alterations to make it suited to the current content policy. --Wpetoi (talk) 20:42, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

My Message[edit source]

Bad Scratch Wiki not only breaks the Content Policy, but is also the reason why the new update was established. So I fail to see why it should have a chance to stay. The founder is rarely active, and lacks the kindness of someone that should manage. Not only does BSW have bad management and insults, but it is a safeguard for vandalism. The Scratch Team wants the archives deleted, they want Bad Scratch Wiki deleted, and they want proof that we are respectful. I want to show the Scratch Team that we are really trying and that we will succeed in pleasing them. Please take what I said into consideration. I just want my friends to be happy again. WickyHoney (talk) 21:02, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

@WickyHoney: I am aware of that RfC, but since this was a pre-existing wiki which posts negative information about certain members, perhaps a compromise that would make everyone happy would be to make Bad Scratch Wiki a private wiki readable and editable only by a small group of people that want to post in that way? It wouldn't be publicly readable or indexed by any search engine. Just tossing this idea out there as it may placate everyone. Dmehus (talk) 17:21, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
An honorable proposal, but that will not do given that the background of the founder is undesirable. Wpetoi has committed crimes against my friends and I will not stand to let him have his way. He acts like a big business tycoon, but he's just a hot-air balloon. The wiki was created despite an agreement among the real members of Crummy Scratchers Wiki to never recreate CSW or a wiki similar to it, and after Wpetoi added that wiki my appeals have been met with stupidly short replies about how part of the agreement was to delete every archive and not bring back the CSW and yet Wpetoi is also ignoring the facts we give him and doesn't acknowledge that he is being inconsiderate and prone to lying. He lies about Bad Scratch Wiki being satire, and it obviously is not. He keeps calling our requests to close the wiki whining which shows that he is daft as well as only being able to handle his own bullshit. So, no, I will cut myself before I let Wpetoi have his way, and if my friends do not get unblocked soon then I will never understand what happiness is. Also, I don't think the Scratch Team will understand what I would be trying to convey if I said that vile wiki was "private". They want it deleted, not accessible by a small group. Sorry, but I don't like the idea. I am tired of people trying to hurt me and my friends, and everyone wants to these days, so I will not pander to inconsiderate jerks that want to take our dreams and use them to their delight. Thanks for the voicing the possibility, but it can't be done. WickyHoney (talk) 17:59, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
I agree these wikis aren't very helpful and seem to exist only to mock beginner coders (that seems to be what the Scratch website is about) and their beginner coding errors, from the sounds of it. I just don't like the idea of globally locking his accounts, though could support closing of this wiki and providing an XML dump to Wpetoi if he desires to self-host himself (and take sole responsibility for any content he hosts)...I just think, if he wants to create and manage constructive wikis, he should be permitted to do that, but yes, I could support either closure of this wiki or making it private and inaccessible. Dmehus (talk) 19:38, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
I agree with WickyHoney. Bad Scratch Wiki broke the content policy. It also results in the extension of blocks on Scratch. @Void:, I guess you should now consider deleting Bad Scratch Wiki since the founder is barely active. CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 23:24, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Promotion[edit source]

Greetings Void, I should be the one promoted for this since I am fairly active in editing this wiki. I am doing best as I can to add as much as possible. The other one hasn’t been as active. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Techsupport Agent 05 (talkcontribs) 09:08, 5 July 2020‎

@Techsupport Agent 05: Which wiki is this? Is the wiki you and another user were requesting to adopt? I suspect @Void:, or another steward, will make the decision based on who is the most active in the wiki or two that he gives you to show activity. Alternatively, if both of you are reasonably equally active, he may let both of you adopt the wiki jointly, but this is just a guess. Nonetheless, please be sure you provide helpful context in your messages and also to sign your posts with ~~~~. I've added {{unsigned}} for you again this time. Aggressive spam and vandaling[edit source]

Hello,

I am a reader of this beautiful wiki here: https://filehostlist.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

But recently, I've realised there is one guy who aggressively promotes his website on every page and spamming constantly for almost a month now. He is removing other useful content too. And he has two seperate accounts that I know of.

Accounts of this vandal: https://filehostlist.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Hakan-tr https://filehostlist.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Debrid34

When I saw this, at first I decided to sign up and try to rollback his actions but I can't help it only by myself. He is not giving up.

Also I'm just a regular user without any authorization. I guess mods/admins haven't been visiting their wiki for a while now. Therefore there is no blocking or ban mechanism working right now. I believe it would be perfect to just permaban him an his IP/accounts from the wiki.

So we need your help badly and immediately.

I hope you'll take care of the situation.

Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fhw (talkcontribs) 23:50, 7 July 2020‎ (UTC)

I've blocked, and restored an entry to the spamblacklist that previously prevented that site from being added anywhere. Let me know if similar behavior continues. I've also left a note with the local admin, just in case they're still around. -- Void Whispers 00:01, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
Thank you so much with that incredibly quick response and action! I'm really grateful. And also can you add this specific website that owned by this very spammer here: https://worldleech.site/ to the spamblacklist also please? It'll definitely prevent any future spam attempts by the same person. Again I appreciate all of it, you're great. Best regards... - Fhw — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fhw (talkcontribs) 16:33, 8 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)
I'm blind, I though the site they were spamming was multileech, but since it doesn't seem to be, I've updated the blacklist accordingly. -- Void Whispers 00:40, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
It seems like, that website also had been spammed too in the past. I think adding both sites to that list wouldn't do harm by any means. Thanks for all the support. Cheers. - Fhw — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fhw (talkcontribs) 16:33, 8 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)
@Fhw: Please remember to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) so that both your username and timestamp are added to your talk and user talk page comments. I've added one for you, and another user has added another one for you, it looks like. Dmehus (talk) 17:06, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

@Fhw You're just a jealous and bad guy who can't handle my site — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hakan-tr (talkcontribs) 03:37, 9 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)

@Hakan-tr: I've noticed you have been modifying other users' comments in this thread, and forgetting to sign your own comments, too. You should refrain from the former, though I would Support a retitling of this section to == Spam and Vandaling == per it being more neutrally and objectively titled, as I do agree that there's no need for that characterization as "aggressive." In any event, in future, you should ask for the section to be retitled per your reason(s), and I'm sure @Void: would be amenable to all reasonable requests. In terms of the latter, while it's less critical on non-automatically archived talk pages, signing posts helps us to help protect you against impersonation by quickly and easily locating whether, in fact, you posted something or something masquerading as you posted as if they were you. So, please try and remember to sign your posts on all talk pages. Dmehus (talk) 16:53, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

@Dmehus I don't know what you said to sign. Would you teach me how to do it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hakan-tr (talkcontribs) 12:21, 9 July 2020 (UTC -08:00)

@Hakan-tr: Well, I already added {{unsigned}} signatures for you using the {{unsigned}} template on this wiki, so nothing to do, but basically, when commenting on a talk or user talk page, you just end all posts with four tildes (~~~~) and it'll add the signature coding specified in your preferences, or global preferences if you've chosen to apply your preferences to all Miraheze-hosted wikis. Signatures typically go at the end of every comment. Does that help? Dmehus (talk) 19:43, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
@Hakan-tr: Also, I see you tried to {{ping}} me with the @ message. To send a notification to someone when you're replying, you can either use {{ping}} (like this, {{ping|username}}) on wikis that have the {{ping}} template imported, or you can use a wikilink linking to their username, like this (Hakan-tr). That will send you a notification as well. You don't have to pipe the wikilink, but doing so will remove the User: namespace prefix. Dmehus (talk) 19:49, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

@Dmehus thanks i will try ;Hakan-tr (talk) 19:49, 9 July 2020 (UTC); this way?

Yes, but move "; this way?" before your signature. Also, the {{ping}} didn't work, but doesn't look you tried that. Dmehus (talk) 19:51, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi Steward, I hope all is well. I am trying to generate an SSL certificate so I can use my custom domain, securitylogwiki.org. @Psuedorandomness: I meant to follow up with you yesterday. Have you followed the instructions at custom domains? What, specifically, is the issue? For these sort of problems, you can usually resolve any technical issues by reaching out to a Miraheze staff member, steward, or community volunteer on Discord or IRC. I don't know how to change my username. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162805O (talkcontribs) 20:36, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

@162805O: You can go to Special:GlobalRenameRequest here on Meta, or on any Miraheze wiki, really, and initiate a rename request. A steward should process it within several days. Also, please try and remember to sign your posts on talk and user talk pages with ~~~~ as a bot relies on the timestamp data to archive threads, and it helps us with actioning your request. Thanks. In this case, @CircleyDoesExtracter: added an {{unsigned}} template for you. Dmehus (talk) 21:07, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

restoring pages[edit source]

First, thanks for your post.  :)

As per my section in the Steward's Noticeboard (Stewards' noticeboard#I FUBARed a few of my wiki's pages—now what?), I goofed, but not too seriously I think.

How, for example, do I restore this page I created months ago?

Delete BSW already[edit source]

Do not tell me that It will take a long process. It can be done in a minute. So I ask kindly to delete this wiki so we can have our accounts back https://static.miraheze.org/metawiki/5/53/BSWDeletedMessage.jpg --PowerDagger15 (talk) 15:38, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

@PowerDagger15: You have now cross-posted this message on Void's user talk page, on the Stewards' noticeboard, and perhaps other noticeboards or talk pages as well. As I said elsewhere, it's in the process of being deleted, but stewards have to follow due process. Cross-posting multiple requests to various locations will not expedite the process. Perhaps you might try contacting MIT's Scratch Team, inform them that Bad Scratch Wiki has now been made private, and ask again that they unblock you from their site? It's hidden from public view, so that should be enough for them and they need to revisit their stance, I think. Dmehus (talk) 15:44, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

A request.[edit source]

Hello. I would like to be a bureaucrat on the wiki Controversial Wikis & Users Wiki (https://controversialwikisandusers.miraheze.org/). I am taking care of that wiki since it was close to getting inactive. Without me, that wiki would get closed down due to inactivity. And so I decided to become a bureaucrat on that wiki and some people there even want me to be it. So, what do you say? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlFilip19 (talkcontribs) 10:59, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

@CarlFilip19:, if the wiki is not even inactive yet, it cannot be adopted. It can't be adopted until it's been in closed status. So, you really have two options: wait until it's closed, or organize a local election on that wiki, taking into account any local policies on the wiki governing local elections and promotions. Then, following the election or selection process (typically at least seven (7) days, but there's some leeway here), notify the stewards at Stewards' noticeboard or by tagging @Stewards on Discord to the diff or permalink to assess your local election. Hope this helps. Also, please remember to sign your posts with ~~~~. Dmehus (talk) 15:59, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Void:. I am not going to adopt this wiki. I just want to be a bureaucrat there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlFilip19 (talkcontribs) 17:33, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@CarlFilip19: Please try and remember to sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~. Thanks. As to your question, okay, but @Void: can't do anything as a steward without a request coming from the wiki. Thus, if you hold a local election or selection process, with clear parameters or specifications for your selection and election where no local policies exist, then after seven (7) days, you can come back here and {{ping}} Void to action the local request that has gone ignored by inactive bureaucrats. I apologize for the bureaucracy here, but this bureaucracy is useful bureaucracy in that it protects wikis from hostile takeovers that may have otherwise active bureaucrats. Dmehus (talk) 17:58, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Void: Here is proof that people on that wiki want me to be a bureaucrat: https://controversialwikisandusers.miraheze.org/wiki/User_talk:CarlFilip19. Also, is this how you sign with four tildes (look at the source)? CarlFilip19 (talk) 14:59, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
@CarlFilip19: A local bureaucrat election or selection process could theoretically occur anywhere on the wiki, and your user talk page, while somewhat less common, is a reasonable location. For what it's worth, I see only an anonymous user and one registered user expressing opinions. Nonetheless, this at least gives @Void: something by which he can assess. Dmehus (talk) 15:45, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
Well, how can the election start? If it involves a user, who can start it? CarlFilip19 (talk) 15:18, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@CarlFilip19: Well, it depends on the local wiki's election rules, if any. If they do not have any local rules, then global policies, conventions, and customs guide stewards. Common practice is to organize either a community discussion or poll (if the wiki has the polling extension) in a prominent location. You could set the election timeframe, but common global practice is that the election should run for at least 5-7 calendar days. When it has concluded, you would return to Void's user talk page or, ideally, to Stewards' noticeboard, linking to the location on the local wiki where the election was held. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 16:14, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@Void: @Dmehus: Thanks. But it will not be easy for me to do. Why? Because now when I try accessing a Miraheze page on my computer, the page does not work and I see a white screen with the message and an "HTTP ERROR 400" thing. It used to happen occasionally so I could access for a short amount of time, but now I cannot access these pages at all with my computer. I wrote this message with my phone, which is inferior for navigation through the wikis (I had to type the entire URL of certain pages (like the special Recent Changes page at a wiki) to get there). May you please do something about how Miraheze pages cannot be accessed by some computers (including modern ones and my computer is modern)? CarlFilip19 (talk) 14:03, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
((talk-page stalker)) @CarlFilip19: Hi. I'd like to point out that HTTP ERROR 400 is not something that Miraheze is causing and it is a client side error. Perhaps this help page will be able to help you fix it, though I recommend trying to clear your cache and cookies for Miraheze to begin. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:19, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @CarlFilip19: I use a desktop PC to access the Miraheze wikis, without issue, and prefer the navigation to the mobile navigation. As to the HTTP error 400, I believe that may likely be an issue with your cookies. Try clearing (deleting) all your cookies for the *.miraheze.org domain and restarting your web browser. User page's[edit source]

Hey there how do you create a user page? --Admiral SpongeBob (talk) 11:43, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

@Admiral SpongeBob: There are two types of user pages, local user pages and global user pages that appear on every Miraheze wiki on which your account has been attached (i.e., you visited that wiki at least once) and where you've not created a local user page. If you would like to have a local user page on Meta alone, then you just click on the user link in this thread, and begin by creating your new page. If you want a global user page, then you will go to User:Admiral SpongeBob and create your page. Note that you may wish to perform a few edits, perhaps in your sandbox, and wait until your account is at least four days old, so that you become autoconfirmed, if you want to link to your social media profiles on external websites. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 12:13, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Notice this message, PLEASE[edit source]

I have kindly asked on the adoption requests if I could adopt Horrible Music and Songs Wiki on Miraheze. Could you let me adopt it please? I will take good care of it and help revive it and put it back into quality. So could you please let me become the new owner? - Disintegrated.to.pieces (talk) 22:16, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

@Disintegrated.to.pieces: I've replied at Requests for adoption; the wiki is not "closed," so it cannot be undertaken. Instead, what you can do, if the wiki has no active bureaucrats, is hold a local election, taking care to abide by any local policies governing such elections or selections. If no local policies exist, typically, this means holding some sort of election, or vote, that runs at least seven calendar days and lists the candidates for election and the number of bureaucrat vacancies available. When the local process has concluded, you would return to Stewards' noticeboard ideally, as there are other stewards besides @Void: who can assess your local election, and a steward will assess your process and take the appropriate action(s) necessary (typically, by granting rights to the successful candidate(s)). Sockpuppet report.[edit source]

Hello. Inkster has a sockpuppet called "Cerok" and this is what he is going to do with it:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HXGFKHJgxx19cN68iw70CSECRdXpYmcjNVV8AYCNwz4/edit?usp=sharing

Yes. The New Reception Wiki does take pages from other wikis, but it tries to do a better (and less biased) take on these pages due to how some wikis (like Toxic Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki) are a bit unreasonable.

May you globally lock that account "Cerok"? CarlFilip19 (talk) 13:30, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

P.S. For sefety reasons, try not to tell him who reported this account. Okay? CarlFilip19 (talk) 13:41, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

(edit conflict) @CarlFilip19:, thank you for signing your posts with four tildes (~~~~). @Void: is only one steward and for reports of users allegedly abusing multiple accounts, per user accounts policy, your best bet is probably to e-mail stewards at miraheze.org, but note that you will be expected to cite on-wiki behavioural evidence, with specific links to the diffs or permalinks to the individual revisions of the similar activity by all user accounts referenced in your report. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 13:46, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I do not know what you mean, but this link to a Google Document is all the evidence I have that Cerok is Inkster. Look man, "Cerok" blocked me on The New Reception Wiki (https://thenewreceptionwiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges) and hid edit revisions to hide evidence! I also got banned from the Discord server "The Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki Database", perhaps because to prevent me from getting more evidence. Okay? CarlFilip19 (talk) 19:08, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@CarlFilip19: I'm not suggesting this is the case, but I also haven't looked at that Google document, but the reason for requiring on-wiki evidence is to prove that the wiki user being reported is the same user as on other websites. If that is just a simple compilation of your diffs or permalinks that you've collected, then I should still suggest reporting this to stewards at miraheze.org as opposed to Void's user talk page, per my comments above that we have more than one steward. So, it makes sense for these reports to be provided to all stewards. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 19:28, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
It's pretty painfully obvious that these two accounts (Cerok and Inkster) are the same user. However, the accounts haven't really engaged in behavior warranting sanctions yet. You can point someone this way to confirm that they are the same, and if further issues occur, please let me know. -- Void Whispers 00:16, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Help with protection.[edit source]

I would like to become a bureaucrat on this wiki: https://terriblenicheaudienceshows.miraheze.org/wiki/ Because I want this attempt to be decent and I want to protect it from toxic preschool show haters who would make history repeat itself. I want to be made into a bureaucrat by a global sysop since the owner of the wiki is not around and there are no active admins there. If I can improve that wiki, I can finally turn it into a decent place for people to tell people what is wrong with the flawed preschool shows and I can protect pages about good ones from being created. That rule about "no niché audience shows" TTVSW has? That only applies on that wiki (plus, Best TV Shows Wiki has pages about good niché audience shows). Read the main page of "terriblenicheaudienceshows" for more information for this wiki (ignoring the people wanting it shut down). CarlFilip19 (talk) 08:26, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

@CarlFilip19: What's the status of that wiki, inactive, closed, or open? Regardless, you can always hold a clear local election consistent with any local policies on that wiki, as may exist, in a prominent location. Where no rules exist locally, you should state the position(s) up for election, the number of position(s) to be elected, the net support ratio required to be elected, and then list the candidates running. You should also state how many participants are required to express a view, too, and the election should be open for roughly at least, or close to, seven (7) calendar days. When it has concluded, you can either (a) report the location of the results to Stewards' noticeboard or (b) e-mail stewards at miraheze.org with the name and URL of the wiki, the location of the results, and ask for steward action where there are no active, local bureaucrats. Thanks. (talk page stalker) Dmehus (talk) 14:42, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Well then. Tell me step-by-step how I hold an election. What buttons I have to click and such. CarlFilip19 (talk) 17:10, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
@CarlFilip19: I feel as though I've already given you pretty thorough step-by-step instructions above, and thus, further instruction is not needed. Hope this helps. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:29, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Rename request[edit source]

Ey, can you change my name to Glitchedblood? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Glitchmaster (talkcontribs) 11:13, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

@Glitchmaster: First, as a housekeeping matter, please remember to sign your talk page and noticeboard posts on Meta with four tildes (~~~~) to add your username, talk page link, and timestamp to your posts. Second, you can request a global rename yourself at Special:GlobalRenameRequest. If you have already requested this, great. Your request will be processed, generally, in the order it was received (though users with few global contributions and attached accounts may be processed first given that those requests take less time for the jobrunner to process). ciao voi, dice che sono stato bannato per volantinaggio molesto e non capisco il perché, vorrei provare a iscrivermi per fare danni e sfottere pesantemente il buco di culo sardo in cui abito tanto per far fare una risata a quei paddhosi ignoranti dei miei compaesani. attendo risposte — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.233.179.202 (talkcontribs) 10:34, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Username request is complete[edit source]

Is there any other objectives I need to do for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Glitchmaster (talkcontribs) 21:46, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

@Glitchmaster: Firstly, please remember to sign your talk page, user talk page, and noticeboard posts with four tildes (~~~~). Secondly, am I to assume correctly you've requested a rename through Special:GlobalRenameRequest? If so, then you've done all that needs to be done, and a steward will process your request, generally, within 1-2 weeks time. It's usually closer to one week, though. Thanks. A wiki website statement hosted in Miraheze.[edit source]

Dear Administer: Recently, we learned that some people intend to report to Miraheze after the content of the game encyclopedic book(Chinese:游戏百科书wiki) wiki is published in violation of the Miraheze Terms of Service, the People's Republic of China and the laws of the United Kingdom, and the gamencypedia wiki strongly condemns such a sloppy idea! If the game encyclopedic book wiki found such content, will be involved in the personnel to carry out a minimum of 1000 years of prohibition measures, if necessary, we will try our best to cooperate with any country and region of the relevant departments to investigate, if the above-mentioned situation, the game encyclopedic book wiki will retain the right of receding! Serious cases will immediately report to the Public Security Department of the People's Republic of China to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests granted to us by the law and the miraheze Terms of Service! In addition, we have received extortion information, we have been to the People's Republic of China public security departments online report, any illegal acts will be severely punished by the law!城市酸儒文人挖坑 (talk) 08:23, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

Hmm? To my knowledge, that wiki has not been reported. Also, at a cursory glance, there does not seem to be any problem with the contents of your wiki. If there are any specific concerns, please let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Void (talkcontribs) 15:12, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your guidance! We have previously learned that some administrators of Esu Bike (Chinese: 恶俗百科) have threatened to publish illegal content on social accounts and encourage users to participate. We will report it in advance.城市酸儒文人挖坑 (talk) 12:24, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

@Franck5656: Thanks for letting @Void: know about this. He should be able to do this shortly for you, since that wiki has no active administrators. Dmehus (talk) 21:34, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Help. We have a problem on the Horrible Vyonders Wiki.[edit source]

I hope you, Reception123 and the rest of the staff can resolve this issue about the fake Elias D accounts. It's occurring on this article: https://horriblevyonderswiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Elias_D_The_Vyonder DarkMatterMan4500 {talk} 23:59, 16 September 2020 (UTC)

@DarkMatterMan4500: I note that you have now posted this on two users' talk pages. Your posts will get more attention on stewards' noticeboard, which all stewards and Global Sysops monitor. Or, alternatively, consider joining us on Discord or IRC for even faster response. Dmehus (talk) 01:12, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

These wikis are harassing and doxxing users.[edit source]

These wikis to be precise Atrocious YouTubers Wiki, Horrible Vyonders Wiki, and Unfavorable Wikis and Users Wiki.

They are harassing users, and they hate SJWs. We need them banned ASAP. — Preceding unsigned comment added by D Mob (talkcontribs) 18:53, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

@D Mob: As I previously and also stated here on my user talk page, first, while I am not a steward, I will say that I, too, have noticed highly problematic content on those wikis. However, your reports will get more attention of stewards if you link to a series of pages on each of the wikis and explain how and in what way(s) the given wikis are violating Content Policy and their users are violating the Code of Conduct. In terms of the latter, linking to specific revisions and/or specific users' Special:Contributions pages on the given given wikis is also helpful. Second, you should remember to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). Third, you should also, ideally, make only one post, ideally on stewards' noticeboard, but it is also acceptable to use a steward's or my user talk page, and I'll forward your report to a steward. Finally, please do not change other users' posts, as you did here, which has been reverted. If I see that again, in such an egregious manner, I will have no choice but to temporarily block or partially block you on Meta to prevent this egregious disruptive editing. As well, activities like that seriously undermine your credibility in what might otherwise be the early workings of a very legitimate complaint to stewards. Problem with vandal (and that's not all)[edit source]

Hi. I have a problem on nonciclopedia.org with a serial vandal that makes me difficult even to report himself. No admin is active now on that site and I don't want to fall into an edit war. Can you give it a glance?

Moreover, I cannot access with my own credentials due to a "problem with authentication script", but only here on Meta. I'm User:Sacro Riglionese Impero and I'm writing as an anonymous user.--IP editor 21:28, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

@Sacro Riglionese Impero: I'm not sure about that authentication script problem you are having, but I will alert system administrators to that problem, and Counter Vandalism Team to the vandalism problem on that wiki. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 22:29, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
@Sacro Riglionese Impero: The IP vandal has been  locally blocked by Global Sysop @Zppix:. Regarding your login issue, the good news is it is most likely a client-side issue, and you just need to clear your web browser's cookies and local cache for *.miraheze.org or ignore the error message likely warning you about session hijacking and just hit "login" again. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 22:43, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
@Zppix and Dmehus: Thanks for the help, but he is back at it. As you can see, he is engaging in edit wars and vandalizing talk and project pages.--Sacro Riglionese Impero (talk) 08:44, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
@Sacro Riglionese Impero: I'm glad you were able to resolve your login issue (likely client-side, I'm guessing). Regarding the recurring vandalism, thank you for your report, and I'm sure @Zppix and Void: will be by with their IP address banhammer soon enough. Dmehus (talk) 13:30, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

Can you help me on Reference Tooltips?[edit source]

I couldn't make it work on my wiki and created a ticket https://phabricator.miraheze.org/T6257

I found you helped Robkelk on the same issue https://phabricator.miraheze.org/T372

Would you help me please? I really appreciate it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cfd005 (talkcontribs) 04:24, 2 October 2020‎ (UTC)

@Cfd005: First, welcome to Meta and to the Miraheze community. Second, (Please sign your posts on talk pages by using four tildes like this: ~~~~.). Third, to your question, this looks like a fairly straightforward gadget installation that is not too dissimilar to from setting up the Navigation Popups gadget. Though not required, have you considered engaging with us on our Discord or IRC server? It's quite easy to do—the former requires only a Discord account, and you can verify your Discord account with your wiki account using OAuth. The latter doesn't require an account, but will note your IP address unless you request a Miraheze IRC cloak from a system administrator. You can access the IRC server easily at #miraheze connect. In any case, for these sort of one-on-one, highly personalized wiki technical support questions, they really are the best channel for the quickest resolution to your problem, as wikitext is somewhat sub-optimal for repeated back-and-forth chat-like question and answer discussions. I'm sorry about blocking you on my wiki.[edit source]

Red Kitten 01.jpg

I'm sorry for blocking you on wiki.ostans.com. You were probably the poor steward who took on the case of a harassing spammer I brought up on an old account.

In my paranoia, I blocked you, assuming you were the spammer. I just now noticed that you were, in fact, not the spammer.

I'm sure you don't really care about participating on the wiki in question, but I'm sorry that I impeded your volunteering in paranoia.

The picture I picked looks a lot like a cat I have in real life. I hope you like it, and please keep up the good work.
