Regarding your self nomination here

Hi, while I welcome you running for the Election Commission, I have a question regarding your health issue.

I saw you planning to step down from our sysadmin team on community noticeboard because of this, and while I understand you will be around as our local admin and wiki creator, I'm not sure if you should have additional roles under such condition.

Thus, could you tell me why you think you can still become the member of the Commission (and how you can contribute to it if elected)?

Thanks in advance,--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 02:26, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, Please see the Talk page. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:29, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, I thought "the talk page" was the user's talk page. Thanks for the guide.--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 10:42, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I saw your Community noticeboard post, I hope all goes well for you in the future and hopefully your illness eventually goes away as well. I know you have been a great system administrator from what I've seen. Best of luck to you. Hypercane (talk) 14:56, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for the kind words. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 21:06, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

New Section

Wait, you know about my block record? I didn’t ban anyone. --Se (talk) 17:04, 14 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

refactored above comment, added to new section and properly signed. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 17:17, 14 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Se: See CA. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 17:17, 14 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for giving PaperClip autopatrolled. All I do here anymore is patrol edits (except translations, where I'm not given the option to patrol, nor would I without knowing the translation language), and this makes that job easier. In my opinion, autopatrolled doesn't pass judgement on the user except to say he is sufficiently known not to need his edits checked for vandalism. For example, this is also true of Examknow despite the recent disruptive behavior, controversy, and demotion. -Spike

(Am having "session problem" in submitting a change; also cannot log out and cannot log back in. Has something changed in the last 2 weeks?)

Hi, We’ve fixed the session issue. It was due to the redis server. See phab:T4995 ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 07:51, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, that Phab sums it up. Agree with the creator that the underlying issue needs to be fixed, as it turned a simple post into an hour-long riddle! Spıke (talk)14:30 18-Dec-2019

Block of DeltaRuneFan2001

This seems unwarranted. Your explanation ("unsolicited adverts") suggests spam, which would be annoying. But the only "advert" I can see is a request to one fallen-away editor that he return to the wiki. Though "unsolicited," this should be allowed.

Separately, though, user's claim on his talk page that he wanted a wiki in order to warehouse photos of children's naked feet (versus photos of naked children) is preposterous. Spıke (talk)13:47 25-Dec-2019

Naked feet of children can be used as the same purpose of Pedophilia, so I agree with RhinosF1 on the second point. Zppix (Meta | CVT Member | talk to me) 15:44, 25 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I’ve been offline, I looked at the situation following a comment today on one wiki and it seemed to be to provoke a reaction. I’ll look at his talk page. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 18:00, 25 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you for the messages via my talk page. I would like to discuss the changes in the welcome template. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 12:46, 13 January 2020 (UTC) @8ight: Just open a section like you did here on Talk:Welcome. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 15:08, 13 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello, this user is constantly harassing me. I asked him to stop, but he blatantly continues. Can you please block him? --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 21:52, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

 Interaction banned ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 21:56, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Could you please delete I only need one wiki If you can find the others, please delete them, I am only sticking to Stargazer Wiki. Thanks! I just want to inform you that RandomUser34 is a constant liar and likes to make things up so don't trust him. If he mentions anything about me, just revert his edit, or just block him indefinitely. He is NOT stopping me from enjoying my time here and with my own wiki. He likes to ruin peoples' lives and make people miserable. He is an <redacted> immature schoolboy and needs to stop harassing me, otherwise, this may end up with him arrested as I will ring the police. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 22:14, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You need to ask on SN to get wikis deleted. I’ve asked someone to look into RandomUser but I suggest you email Stewards(at) or conduct(at) to get it sorted. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 22:18, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Re: Welcome to Miraheze!

Hey, thanks for the welcome. Just saying here, I am recommending Miraheze for someone working in a developing country, as meeting 3 useful criteria in choosing a Wiki =

+) Is it easily & quickly usable, by anyone, including the tech-averse?
+) Is it affordable, as in free or very low costs? (e.g. time for maintenance).
+) Is it stable, safe, reliable & not going anywhere soon?

I will register when I have time! ~ Thanks!

Hi, Mediawiki is software is pretty easy to use and so are our extensions! We don’t charge anything but you can Donate to help support us. And finally, we have no plans on going anywhere and are working on improving our infastructure! ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 19:54, 15 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My wiki projects

Hey, RhinosF1, could you please delete two of my wikis that I no longer need? The reason is because I have requested a new wiki project that is now satisfiable named Factpedia which is still pending. Could you delete:,, and --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 21:09, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You need to request on SN and a steward will do it. I’m not able to. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 21:13, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I already tried that. The wikis are still existing. Anything else? --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 21:15, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Wait. Stewards have to actually do it. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 21:17, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay, I'll just add the other two wikis to my previous request on the stewards noticeboard. Thanks for the help! --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 21:22, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Factpedia is here! You are invited to join us... --8ight (talk) 21:06, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please don’t advertise, we have a gazetteer of wikis and Special:WikiDiscover for that. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 21:13, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@RhinosF1: Sure! The wiki has been added already and I still have no new editors. Could you at least get me some? --8ight (talk) 21:51, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
People will come when ready. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 21:52, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Brilliant Idea Barnstar
You truly are a nice sysop on this wiki. Thank you for helping me to set up the Twinkle tool. Great work! 8ight (talk) 04:20, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Special Barnstar
You are an inspiration to me! I could learn a lot from other people with experience. I would love to learn more about Miraheze and the tools that they have here. Keep up the good work! 8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 04:44, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

like awhile ago i sent a email to that email you told me to message about my deviantarthorror wiki being closed down due to a TOS Violation and i still didnt get a reply, did i use the wrong email or is there a delay? --Libya (talk) 17:51, 18 January 2020‎ (UTC)Reply[reply]

There’s nothing I can do. Maybe join the discord and ask for help. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 18:25, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Libya: RhinosF1 is correct. Joining the discord is your only option to solve your problems. Here is the website: Case solved! On Discord there are plenty of helpful, friendly Miraheze staff that could be happy enough to assist you with anything in particular. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 18:32, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@8ight: You don’t have to answer for me. I was the responding sysadmin following an order at time. Discord is definately not the only way but a platform that has the right people in. In legal cases, email is always involved. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 19:03, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@RhinosF1: Fair point! --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 21:05, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@8ight: whats the invite? i had discord for 3 years and never knew miraheze had a server for it --Libya (talk) 00:53, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Libya: Well, pretty much almost all wikis have a discord channel like Wikipedia, Uncyclopedia, LibrePlanet. Mostly gaming wikis such as Bulbapedia and Bakugan Wiki have discord servers. There are also wikis that use Freenode as well. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 04:14, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Libya: See Discord. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 08:42, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Could you please restore my edits?

This is your only edit. What do you want restoring? ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 21:43, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I need help

Whenever I try to log in to my account EijiZeBoi, I get a message saying "The provided authentication token is either expired or invalid.", and it automatically logs me out. Could you please fix this problem?

EijiZeBoi (talk) 20:26, 11 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey, The skin is no longer supported and has stopped working. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 15:07, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Untitled Section

Hello, i'm SuperNeuer, an beureucrat (i don't know that's correct) of Wikilouco. I want to renomeate (change name) of my account (SuperNeuer) to Pclæsh. But, the server blocks me to make this. With my request the server have continued to block me. Can you help me? SuperNeuer (talk) 23:23, 29 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey, You can request to change your username by clicking here and a Steward will perform the rename. This is done as all accounts are global so renaming a user must be done across all wikis. Although, whatever the setting, you can not rename yourself. Can I also remind you to consider your tone and language when interacting with users? Despite your frustration, you must follow the Code of Conduct. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 02:27, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

editing others talk page comments

You might not know, but this is the text shown when you click on the login help link. I think this should be editable to allow the best advice, although it may be in the form of a comment. Would it be better to replace it with my own signature, if the goal is not to misrepresent what Zppix said? Naleksuh (talk) 08:33, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It would be best if you didn’t edit that comment at all and made your own underneath. If you go an replace anything within, that’s editing someone else’s comment. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 08:34, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As this is linked to the official solution to the problem, I see it more as a type of help page. Adding contradictory text underneath could be confusing and possibly unread. For example:
"Add two cups of flour"
"Just kidding, don't do that."
If this text is kept however, I suppose it's not a huge deal since both will work in the end, but may be something to bear in mind in the future instead of linking talk page comments to avoid such problems. Naleksuh (talk) 08:38, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I would just put in your own comment “It worked for me without clearing cookies”. Although, I note that everyone else has had to clear cookies before it worked. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 08:40, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I removed the part saying to visit Special:UserLogout. Doing this and clearing cookies is redundant as clearing cookies will also log you out on its own. In any case, I don't think future help messages should link to talk page messages in the future, to allow them to be edited by others (one of the founding points of wikis to begin with). Naleksuh (talk) 08:41, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
All the instructions are there because it hasn’t worked for most people without doing that. If it has worked, you are welcome to make a comment underneath stating so but do not edit the comments of others. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 08:47, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'd like advice

I have advised on my rights in the talk page of void. If you and your opinion is there, I have another question. -- Sourav Talk... 17:02, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I can get right autopatrolled I have already translated many pages so I will be encouraged to translate this right. -- Sourav Talk... 17:05, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No. I am not giving autopatrolled to someone involved in sockpuppetry on this wiki and long term abuse elsewhere. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 17:09, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok, thanks. -- Sourav Talk... 17:12, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That isn't how you spelled the user account, is it? Spıke (talk)20:52 17-Apr-2020

There may be a spelling mistake, there is no reason for it but I can’t massively be bothered getting it renamed or creating a new one. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 20:55, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why did your sysadmin rights get revoked?

When I looked at Tech:Timelines at 2019, it says that you're a sysadmin. I just wanted to ask why in 2020 are you not a sysadmin anymore? I'm always looking forward to anyone being granted advanced global permissions on Miraheze. OwenFung87 12:00, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It was due to personal issues at the time. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 13:17, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Repeatedly re-creating page out of scope

I just fill in a red link on my name, what should I use if I see a red link on my name again? #redirect Meta:User:MarkDilley or something? Best, MarkDilley

Your user page can be created at User:MarkDilley or globally at mh:login:User:MarkDilley. MarkDilley is in the main namespace and we do not have individual articles about users or people. I noticied that you had created the page before and were warned on another ocassion about it by the AbuseFilter so I have prevented you from creating that specfic page again. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 05:41, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
These things make sense to you folks who work here every day, across the whole project. They don't make sense to the casual person in this community. The thing I like about how wiki communities can be, is that they can be more friendly and forgiving of perceived or real errors. And I just went and changed my preferences to make the ~~~ point to User:MarkDilley. Best, MarkDilley
Don’t worry, I’ve only prevented the creation (for everyone) of a single page. I understand if you got confused. No harm done and you’re welcome to do anything else in line with policy. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:14, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks, but you do see my point, policy is community knowledge, which is fantastic, also the community could be friendlier about it, thank for the friendly dialogue. Best, MarkDilley
@MarkDilley: I think it's on you to learn some wiki basics. Meta here is for discussions of policy and management of the whole wiki farm. Even if you became a topic of discussion on Meta, a page on Meta bearing your name would never be appropriate (except in User: space, as shown).
There are so many cases of spambots and advertisers creating such pages, that I don't fault users for quickly deleting yours and not thinking about whether it would be gentler to offer you assistance.
Here's one bit of advice: It's 4 tildes, not 3, and you'll get an automatic timestamp too. In fact, if you go back to Preferences and undo your work, the default signature will link to your user and talk pages. Cheers! Spıke (talk)16:16 22-Apr-2020
Spike, thanks for the education. I have been working on wiki since 2002, know the developer of MediaWiki and all that. It is a choice, the first handful of wiki actively consider that words are timeless, and if they aren't refactor them out so no one has to read them. Cheers, MarkDilley
There is no single developer of mediawiki, hence, what just said is incorrect. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:28, 23 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Forgive me for misspeaking. Lead developer when they went from Usemod and developed MediaWiki ... although I don't think the team was too big in 2003. "Around the same time, Brion Vibber effectively took over as lead developer and release manager of the software. The code is now maintained by a large and active group of developers." MW:MediaWiki history. Cheers, MarkDilley
Nice, We’ve got multiple mediawiki & wikimedia developers on miraheze. Just to be safe, would you be able to confirm you are also mediawikiwiki:User:MarkDilley as we want to avoid possible impersonation given your comments. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:38, 23 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
