Need contributors for my wiki![edit source]

Hi, I started a new wiki called Sustainapedia. I was wondering if you could help me with my wiki and help contribute to it. I need volunteers who will willing enough to edit all the time (almost active every ten seconds, just like Wikipedia), and to also make a difference. If you could ask other users to start contributing and continuously, that would be great. Plus, I need other administrators too who can patrol and protect articles from vandalism and spam. Are you willing to help me? If so, start creating your user page and start contributing and patrolling for vandalism. I will give you admin rights once you come to the site. Cheers! Here is the link: https://sustainapedia.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page. DoveWindsor (talk) 11:30, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion notifications[edit source]

As you have probably noticed by now, Site updates have not been sent/updated for a while. The main reason for this is the fact that there was not an interest in it, and there was not enough information that was worth sending to users monthly.

I am sending this message to the Site updates list because I would like to propose a trying out a different type of notice sent to users. Instead of monthly updates of a limited number of statistics (which can be consulted by users anyway), staff would instead notify interested users if there is an interesting discussion (on Community noticeboard or Stewards' noticeboard) or if there is a local vote on Meta. Currently, there is no incentive for many users to visit Meta and check recent changes to see if there is anything they would be interested in, so this system would fix that and notify users of that so they can join in the discussion whenever there is one.

In order to subscribe to these notifications, please add your name in the same format to Discussion notifications/List, and you will start being notified on your talkpage. If there is interest in these notifications, they will be continued.

Also, please note that at least for the time being Site updates will be discontinued (since all the statistics are available anyway).

Role removal[edit source]

I'm still active, still alive, still here. Could you give me the wiki creator role back please. ~ Chip🐺 17:11, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you would have to go through another request. Zppix (Meta | CVT Member | talk to me) 17:12, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ChipWolf: Yeah, that is my understanding of the wiki creator policy as well. There's no minimum support ratio, though, and with a well articulated reason which also addresses the reason(s) for your absence, you should pass easily, I would think. Dmehus (talk) 18:07, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discord Ban[edit source]

Hi, I'd like to appeal my ban on the Discord server. I know what I did was wrong, may I have another chance? BlackWidowMovie0 (talk) 21:17, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

hi, to make your appeal Please contact Code of Conduct Commmission @ conduct(at)miraheze.org and request your appeal via email. --Cocopuff2018 (talk) 21:24, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That’s not how it works, per the CoCC page: a user may only contact the commission once another group (i.e. Stewards, Global Sysops, IRC/Discord operators, etc.) has been contacted Zppix (Meta | CVT Member | talk to me) 23:28, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Your current moderation history on discord alone includes 14 actions (12 sanctions, 1 unmute, 1 unban). You were already banned once, and were unbanned per discussion with Paladox that your behavior would improve. Within 2 hours of the unban you were already resuming obnoxious behavior.
  • Type: Unban Reason: They've appealed on IRC. They've promised to follow the rules. - Oct 29 2020 20:00:00
  • Type: Ban Reason: violation of agreement per recent unban / mass pinging - Oct 29 2020 21:58:21
As such I'm inclined to oppose this for now, but will leave the discussion up to anyone else involved in moderating the Discord. -- Cheers, NDKilla ( TalkContribs ) 04:53, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No from me. Zppix (Meta | CVT Member | talk to me) 05:28, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Zppix and NDKilla: No clue why I didn't see this before. I accept that decision, and will request again near the end of November or beginning of December. BlackWidowMovie0 (talk) 23:45, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What Meta wiki is and is not[edit source]

Hi, so in your 'essay' What Meta wiki is and is not you write that Meta wiki is neither "Your personal wiki" nor "A place to create many pages or use as your own site" - fair enough. My question is: do those remarks apply equally to the login wiki, or is that the right place for Miraheze users to create, say, a moderate number of user subpages? Or if not there, where? Thanks, -Skivvy Ftwm (talk) 09:33, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On your own wiki would be mostly where but it depends exactly what. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 09:37, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oops: for clarity I guess I should have said "Miraheze end-users" above - ie I didn't mean me. Unless you mean that even relatively casual Miraheze users usually do create their own wiki just to have their own user subpages, which doesn't sound very likely(?) -Skiv Ftwm (talk) 13:55, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, 99% will create their own wiki even if it's very small. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 14:16, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @RhinosF1: so if that's true then to me it sounds like quite a big problem - or at least a hell of a shame. You don't agree? -Skivvy Ftwm (talk) 13:43, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, it allows people much more freedom. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 13:48, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit source]

Thank you for everything you've done as a Miraheze Steward. --Magogre (talk) 04:54, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you resign, ND? Just the day I made a message on the Talk:Stewards page. I think I was right about you being inactive as a steward --YellowFrogger (Talk) 04:56, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you did just comment on it. :P even though you didn't name me it was fairly obvious to anyone that read it that you were talking about me. And you are at least partly right, hence my resignation. But I have already expressed my comments on inactivity in general on Talk:Stewards -- Cheers, NDKilla ( TalkContribs ) 05:15, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's really tricky to edit Miraheze while you have appointments out. But currently, there are many actions on the noticeboards, which sometimes take days to resolve and of course, adoption requests. I think no need to resign now. We expect new stewards in the future, and recently a user became GS (in RfGR), if he has more experience. --YellowFrogger (Talk) 05:19, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well as mentioned I haven't been active for a long time. Even my updates in december / most of the last several years were usually minor things to just peek my head in. And I unfortunately don't see that changing in the foreseeable future. However partly right when you say no need to resign, me resigning or not won't really change anything, and definitely won't contribute towards increasing the throughput of all stewards handling requests. It is an unfortunate circumstance. -- Cheers, NDKilla ( TalkContribs ) 05:23, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was just quoting about not resigning now because you could solve recent tasks, and in Talk:Stewards I didn't say which rights should be revoked. Still, it's good that you understand your inactivity as a steward, and yes, the number doesn't matter, but the activity. --YellowFrogger (Talk) 05:29, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's unfortunate and there are grounds that people who are trusted, on the internet in some form and competent probably well outweigh the risk even if we need more proactive people on top of that (ie, the throughput of stewards is going to need to be added to by 1-2 proactive figures). Thank you for your service in any case, and a graceful resignation in light of overall inactivity is if nothing else a good nod towards the related provision in the code of conduct. --Raidarr (talk) 09:31, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Meta activity / permissions[edit source]

Hello NDKilla,

I hope that my message does not come across as unseemly. First of all I regret your resignation from Steward and hoped that you would have been able to be more active and stay on as Steward. I wanted to know if you were still interested in retaining your Meta administrator permissions or whether you also think you will not be able to continue serving as a Meta administrator for the same considerations made when resigning as Steward

Thanks and thank you for your contributions and work towards improving Miraheze as a whole, DeeM28 DeeM28 (talk) 06:26, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
