The Miraheze Cookbook[edit source]

Would you like to contribute to The Miraheze Cookbook, a wiki-based cookbook? Silicona (talk) 16:35, 14 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I will see, but I don't think I really have any recipes to add. But thanks. Jph2 (talk) 18:29, 14 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You can research for recipes online and create recipes on The Miraheze Cookbook. Silicona (talk) 20:36, 14 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How do a change the visuals of my wiki[edit source]

As you saw i made the Bomber Friends wiki, but it is only as white and i want to change its colors, while i could kinda change its appearance i couldn't change its colors so i need help. Darryl Omgai (talk) 20:48, 11 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You'll need to edit the MediaWiki:common.css page. I'm not a css guru, so can't provide much help in that regard. I'd suggest joining the Miraheze discord where css is often a common topic.
You could also look at the css for other wikis to see what they've done to get ideas for what you want to do. Jph2 (talk) 00:12, 12 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

change wiki name[edit source]

Archived without improvement[edit source]

I still do not have bureaucrat rights on Ferrypedia. Why was my discussion removed from Stewards' Noticeboard? --Chicken4War (talk) 23:49, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I moved it to the "Permissions" section intending it to be actioned quicker than in the "Miscellaneous" section.
It was there when I posted it, so I don't know why it disappeared. I've reposted it under ferrypedia on SN and noted there is a problem with create wiki assigning bureaucrat permissions on the Miraheze Discord so tech folks will be aware there's a problem.
I apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm doing what I can to best help address your concern.
Jph2 (talk) 03:13, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Stewards verified your bureau rights on ferrypedia on 4 December I see you have the rights and have been editing. – Jph2 (talk) 16:02, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Special:RequestWikiQueue/38383[edit source]

Hi, Excuse me for the talk page.

Hmmm, This is probably a misunderstanding. By "a site with relatively few restrictions on the content to be posted", I mean "can write content that does not meet Wikipedia's strict source requirements" with respect to what is posted. The wiki is well-ordered and operated under leadership and policy (inappropriate, e.g.: copyright infringement, defamatory posts, unsubstantiated rumors about famous people will be promptly deleted). I don't think this violates the CP, how is it? ―1108-Kiju/Talk 15:26, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for the clarification. I also didn't realize you were the requestor since I know you are familiar with policies. I had some concerns about the subdomain being too generic, but since it is a migration and private, I've created the wiki. – Jph2 (talk) 15:59, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks, and I salute you for your work as a wiki creator. ―1108-Kiju/Talk 16:05, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Need help with templates[edit source]

Hi, I need some help with templates. I imported my wiki from fandom but all templates are broken. Magnapedia (talk) 22:34, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I suspect you need to go to "Manage this wiki's extensions" and enable Portable Infobox. You should probably also enable TemplateStyles.
You may want to join the Miraheze Discord server so you can use the support channel there. You may find answers to your issues and others there may be more familiar with transitioning from Fandom to Miraheze than I am.

Request[edit source]

Hello Jph2, I see you declined my Wiki request on the basis that I intend to copy material from an existing Wikimedia project

This isn't the case. I'm trying to create a new, generalist Wiki, with better sourcing/referencing standards than Wikipedia to combat misinformation. I don't intend to rely on Wikipedia's content. Jack4576 (talk) 01:50, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is the same purpose and scope as Wikipedia. See the Content Policy. – Jph2 (talk) 12:29, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The relevant rule is:
11. Direct forks and forks where a substantial amount of content is copied from a Wikimedia Foundation hosted project are also not allowed. Because Miraheze runs on a finite amount of space, direct forks (forks which seek to recreate and emulate a Wikimedia project by copying all of their content from there) and forks where a substantial amount of content is copied from a Wikimedia project are prohibited.
I am not forking Wikipedia. I am not copying its content. There is no rule against Mirahaze Wikis having an all-encompassing scope. You are applying the rules incorrectly Jph2.
Jack4576 (talk) 12:42, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Jph2 do you understand what the word "fork" means? It doesn't mean something has the same scope. It means something that retains content and splits it. I am not proposing to fork Wikipedia's content. I am trying to create an encyclopedia that includes topics that Wikipedia does not include because of its notability policy. Jack4576 (talk) 12:44, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You can reopen your request. I'll let another Wiki Creator review it. – Jph2 (talk) 13:12, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have edited the request, but it still says "declined" as status. I am unable to open a fresh request. Jack4576 (talk) 13:25, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It showed up in the queue and I've placed it on hold pending review by another Wiki Creator. Please be patient for someone to take a look at it. – Jph2 (talk) 13:29, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If you’re going to enforce a line against generalist Wikis, then this should at least be put explicitly into Miraheze’s rules
Not doing so wastes the time of both requesters, and reviewers. I was misled by the rules into believing my request was valid
I don’t see the why there should be a rule against generalist wikis that aren’t forking content, but whatever. That’s your prerogative Jack4567 (talk) 14:53, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I apologize for that. There is an open Requests for Comment taking your point into consideration. – Jph2 (talk) 15:18, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
