Regarding your RfC[edit source]

Hello Epic54719, I'm following up on the now-deleted RfC page you created. It seems to me you were looking for the ability to change the name of groups on wikis. This is possible for anyone who can edit the MediaWiki namespace (sysops and interface administrators by default). You can do it with the following pages, where 'groupname' is whichever group you want to change the text for (ie, sysop, which by default is referred to as 'administrator'). Editing the page with the text you want will replace the interface text with what you want it to be

  • MediaWiki:Group-groupname: the plural/general usage ('Administrators')
  • MediaWiki:Group-groupname-member: singular usage ('administrator')
  • MediaWiki:Grouppage-groupname: the project page name (Meta:Administrators, or for your wiki 2020-2029 wiki:Administrators).

If you meant something else, please advise, and in either case feel free to ask any further questions either here or on the Community noticeboard. Thank you. --Raidarr (talk) 22:21, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Changing localised user group names[edit source]

Hi Epic54719,

Regarding your creation of this malformed RfC, this isn't what RfCs are about. If you are seeking comments on, or responses to, questions regarding MediaWiki software or some aspect of Miraheze, it's best to ask at community noticeboard. Alternatively, feel free to add {{help me}} in a new thread on your user talk page, and a volunteer will respond to you shortly.

In regards to your question, you can customize the localised group names by modifying or creating interface messages, such as MediaWiki:Group-technicalgroupname]], [[MediaWiki:Group-technicalgroupname-member]], and [[MediaWiki:Grouppage-technicalgroupname-member]].

Hope this helps,
