Deletion of one of your wikis[edit source]

Hi, I would like to tell you that I have deleted scumbobwiki, which you requested, because it turned out to be a duplicated request of another wiki requested earlier than yours. Please use it instead.--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 12:40, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just FYI the sling on wiki already exist here --Cocopuff2018 03:44, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Your signature[edit source]

Hi DuchessTheSponge,

I noticed a couple relatively minor issues with your transcluded signature, now at User:DuchessTheSponge/sig, which are itemized in turn.

  • User signature file location. Per established social norms and customs on Meta, users' transcluded signature files are located typically as subpages of their own user space, not in Template: namespace. MrJaroslavik originally moved it to User:DuchessTheSponge/DuchessTheSponge as we weren't yet sure whether or not this template was for a userbox or a user signature. Now that you've signed several talk page, user talk page, or noticeboard posts with it, we know that it is, so I have kindly moved it to User:DuchessTheSponge/sig and updated the transclusions, purging the page caches on each page on which it was transcluded. Please go into your preferences, under the signature section, and update your signature to reference your signature file's new location
  • Talk page, user talk page, and noticeboard signature guidelines. Please remember to sign all talk page, user talk page, and noticeboard threads or posts with four tildes (~~~~), not three tildes, to include a crucial timestamp for our bot. I've made the corrections for your recent posts, and manually added it for you
  • Upcoming signature rule changes with MediaWiki 1.35. When MediaWiki version 1.35 is publicly released as a production, stable build and deployed on Miraheze, Extension:DiscussionTools will be concurrently deployed, too. One of the consequences of that extension is that there will be changes to the signature rules, and your signature will now be required to include an internal wikilink to either (a) your user page or (b) your user talk page. A small number of Meta users will likely be impacted by this change, so I am proactively reaching out to users as on Meta as I see them, and your transcluded signature does not link to either. While it's fine now, you will need to update this once MediaWiki version 1.35 launches and is deployed on Miraheze, along with the DiscussionTools extension.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding either of the above. :)

Adoption of fanfiction.miraheze[edit source]

Hi Freighttrain here, sorry I didn't contact you earlier about this, though there has been no harm done and do not worry this is not an attempt at takeover, I have adopted this wiki due to it's previous closure caused by inactivity, as well as my desire for there to be a place for people to be able to post their fanworks without the hassle that other wikis are known for.

Could you please reply to let me know of your stance on these recent happenings, thank you. Freighttrain (talk) 11:25, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, could you please reply so that we can discuss the fanfiction.miraheze wiki, you are still listed as an administrator there and it doesn't feel right either just leaving it like that or altering your user status without having first received your standpoint on the matter, so could you please respond soon, thank you. Freighttrain (talk) 11:11, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Freighttrain: This is very thoughtful that you have reached out to @DuchessTheSponge: like this following your successful adoption. Hopefully they will be able to reply to you soon, either here, or on the local wiki. Dmehus (talk) 17:02, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I was not able to contact DuchessTheSponge beforehand, as editing on that wiki was not possible because it had been closed due to inactivity, and I didn't think to try and find them here to let them know prior to this, but after my successful adoption of the fanfiction.miraheze wiki it did occur to me that they might be here, though I first contacted them on their local talk page there after it reopened, but it does seem they were recently active here so yes hopefully they will reply soon as the current arrangement feels awkward. Freighttrain (talk) 09:42, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Freighttrain: Okay, thanks for the update. While I am okay with you modifying my comment above, I just thought I should give you a head's up that I do not believe Echo notifications work with MirahezeMagic interwiki wikilinks or even interwiki wikilinks at all. In effect, it just becomes a wikilink to one's user page on another wiki without the {{ping}}/Echo notification. In fact, I'll test this right now. Reception123, did you get this {{ping}}? Dmehus (talk) 12:16, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what you mean by Echo notifications or ping, I only altered it so that it linked to my only userpage here at the time, but I just made a meta.miraheze userpage and changed back the notation at the beginning of your first message, as it now actually links to a userpage of mine. Freighttrain (talk) 16:48, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Freighttrain: Echo notifications are when you get notified when your user rights are changed on a wiki, someone thanks you for an edit you made on a wiki, or someone mentions you on a page or in an edit summary or log action (i.e., bell and inbox icons). Most of the mentions in log actions, edit summaries, and pages take the form of the bell notifications, but I believe they're all Echo notifications. Dmehus (talk) 17:36, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In that case I would ping DuchessTheSponge but I noticed you've already done so here. Freighttrain (talk) 19:03, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption of fanfiction.miraheze[edit source]

Hello again, Freighttrain here, again could you please reply regarding this because you are still listed as an administrator there, as the current arrangement feels awkward and doesn't feel right either just leaving it like that, or altering your user status without having first received communication from you on this matter, so could you please respond soon, thank you. Freighttrain (talk) 09:19, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me on mywikipedia.miraheze[edit source]

I could use more contributors to --Iron Sword 22 (talk) 18:32, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know about that. -- The Sponge M·C·E  07:45, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Here's the link. --Iron Sword 22 (talk) 19:47, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey DuchessTheSponge how come you replied to their message and not mine? Freighttrain (talk) 04:08, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I don't really care if you own one of my wikis now.  The Sponge M·C·E  05:28, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, ok well it's just that at the User Rights screen my admin/bureaucrat account is unable to change your user rights as a bureaucrat on the fanfiction.miraheze wiki, I don't know if that is something that only you or a Miraheze admin can do, or if it means you are some kind of Miraheze bureaucrat with those user rights on all wikis. For now I'll just change your administrator user rights there to see what happens, as that option is not greyed out like the bureaucrat one.
Though if at some point in the future you do become interested in an active role on the fanfiction.miraheze wiki, let me know and I will add administrator to your user rights there. Freighttrain (talk) 06:11, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Freighttrain: If @DuchessTheSponge: wishes to resign his bureaucrat bit on that wiki, you can request a steward do this on stewards' noticeboard. Alternatively, if your wiki has established local inactivity policies, ideally established through a consensus process, stewards can engaged to remove the bureaucrat bit from inactive bureaucrats in accordance with your local policy. Hope that helps. (talk page stalker) Dmehus (talk) 14:05, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'll have a look at that noticeboard you mentioned since DuchessTheSponge has said they are not interested in the fanfiction.miraheze wiki. Freighttrain (talk) 17:05, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again @Dmehus:, it has been a while now and no stewards have gotten around to my request about @DuchessTheSponge:'s bureaucrat rights on my wiki, I've even e-mailed them but still no response yet, btw thank you for continuing to relist my request on the steward's notice board, though are you confident that if you were to directly message a steward on their personal Disccussion page, they would promptly reply and fulfil my request? I'm pretty sure it would only take a few clicks to do so on their side, thank you. Freighttrain (talk) 17:13, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Freighttrain: Thanks for the reminder. I'll message a steward right away to see if they can remove the rights, and link them to this request and the SN request. Dmehus (talk) 17:31, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks @Dmehus:, a steward has sorted that out for me. Freighttrain (talk) 17:58, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Batmanpedia[edit source]

Hello! I've been on-and-off contributing to Batmanpedia, but the wiki is now locked. Could you unlock it for me so I can edit more? Thanks! --Amelia (talk) 01:25, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Amelia: First, (Please sign your posts on talk pages by using four tildes like this: ~~~~.). Second, to your question, I assume you mean Batmanpedia? Assuming that's the case, this wiki is currently closed per Dormancy Policy, so you have two options. The first is that DuchessTheSponge could reopen the wiki and grant you administrator and/or bureaucrat rights on the wiki. The second is that you could make an adoption request at requests for adoption, taking care to sign your post with four tildes (~~~~). A steward will reopen the wiki in about one week, after which they will give you 1-3 weeks to contribute to the wiki constructively and grant you bureaucrat rights if successful. Hope that helps. (talk page stalker) Dmehus (talk) 01:31, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I need to talk to you[edit source]

About my blocks, I know we discussed this before, but I want to be unblocked on some of those wikis, because well for the reasons we have discussed before and also because of what Dmehus said about local wiki policies. Or at least the ones that I didn’t do anything wrong on, and the ones that I plan to make contributions on:

  • Amazing YouTubers Wiki
  • Best Music & Songs Wiki
  • Delightful Music & Songs Wiki
  • Fresh Websites Wiki
  • Great Characters Wiki
  • Loathsome Characters Wiki

The others I don’t really care much about because I was not planning to make contributions on any of those. And the latter three I have contributed to but haven’t done anything wrong on, whereas the former three I didn’t do anything wrong on and I plan to contribute there in the future.

And again, Remember what Dmehus said about local wiki policies.

Also I prefer that you do not put block summaries like “no” and “get out” as that doesn’t really convey the reason for the block, and for the latter it can be considered harassment.

Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:05, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There. I've unblocked you. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 15:31, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:26, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership Request Of Golden Memes[edit source]

@DuchessTheSponge:, seems as of your wiki is closed by SporeShroom2007, but I am wondering if I could receive ownership of the wiki, since the wiki may get deleted. The wiki seems to be amazing, so you can transfer the rights to me. If not, that's fine. WikiJS talk 17:21, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit source]

I just noticed that you made a proposal to move ESB to Miraheze. Unfortunately, it seems like some users don't know what Miraheze is or are skeptical about the move, so I would recommend trying to win them over by saying the following:

  • Miraheze has many of the extensions that FANDOM has and are beloved by ESB users, such as Chat. And they do have message walls and threaded comments.
  • Miraheze staff are much friendlier and easier to talk too than FANDOM staff.
  • Since ESB has a bureaucrat who is tied to FANDOM, the wiki can be on both FANDOM and Miraheze.
  • Miraheze is actually far superior to FANDOM, the only reason why FANDOM is more well known is because they are basically clout chasers. And FANDOM claims to be better than they actually are.
  • Some users may not have Miraheze accounts, but they can create them easily.
  • Show them this: Comparing Miraheze to Fandom

I really want ESB to move to Miraheze since I actually plan on cutting ties with FANDOM completely, so I really want this proposal to succeed. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 17:05, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Comparing Miraheze to Fandom page offers some really good points and will easily win them over. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 17:12, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, same DuchessTheSponge (talk) 14:03, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:58, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately it looks like it might not be moving here. I am surprised most of the users want to stay on FANDOM, I prefer Miraheze by a long shot, there are far more features and the stewards are friendlier and more helpful than FANDOM staff. The only things that FANDOM has that Miraheze doesn't are Discussions and Badges, though there is a Forums extension, and badges are a very controversial feature. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:02, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm trying not to read the comments on that propsal. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 19:05, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Social profile has gifts though. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:05, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What comments? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:05, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Go to the propsal and you'll see. It's the one on the FANDOM version of that site, I still love going on that wiki though. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 19:06, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply] DuchessTheSponge (talk) 19:07, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Frick, the website is blocked on my school computer. Lemme try my other chromebook. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:10, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 19:10, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, fandomaboos. There are so many of them. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:14, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Encyclopedia SpongeBobia is still a decent site since there are some good users on there like SpongeTron D and BSpongeSM02 but I admit, there are also some bad users on there too like The gamer 987654321. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 19:17, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe it's that it's too large to move. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:22, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
""""""""""""""""""Wikipedia Knock-off"""""""""""""""""" InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:24, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, maybe. I mean, Encyclopedia SpongeBobia has been big for a lot of years just by looking at the page number results. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 19:26, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah a lot of the comments on that proposal were ridiculous. One person called FANDOM a Wikipedia knockoff, and it is unfortunate that people do not see that Miraheze is far superior to FANDOM and offers more customization options. Also, one of the users said that some features would be gone, but the only feature on FANDOM which does not have a Miraheze equivalent is Achivements/Badges, which are a controversial feature anyway. Someone even said that they did not have problems contacting FANDOM staff, even though that is not really true because FANDOM always tells you to ask Special:Contact and often takes hours to respond, while stewards respond within minutes. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:51, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
One person said message walls and comments would be missing, even though Message Walls exist as the Structured Discussions extension, and there is also the Comments extension. And there is also forums to replace discussions. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:56, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Some of those users seemed to have had no idea what they were talking about.
Here is the concerns section of the proposal: Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:52, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • One person called it a "Wikipedia knockoff" which just sounds completely ridiculous.
  • People are also saying that Miraheze is not as popular as FANDOM when the real reason is that FANDOM manipulates Google search results to direct traffic to their wikis.
  • Users have also mentioned that it is easy to contact FANDOM staff, which is a bunch of baloney because in order to contact FANDOM staff, you first have to go to Special:Contact, look for the form link, fill out a form, and check your email, and FANDOM staff often take a few hours to respond, whereas Miraheze staff respond within minutes. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:57, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment at Requests for Comment/Icons and wordmarks[edit source]

Hi DuchessTheSponge,

Regarding this comment at Requests for Comment/Icons and wordmarks, would you mind reverting that and redoing it to re-sign with four tildes (~~~~), to include a critical timestamp with each of your voting arguments?

Dmehus (talk) 18:03, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Face-smile.svg Thank you for this edit. That's Yes check.svg great and works, too. Dmehus (talk) 18:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem DuchessTheSponge (talk) 18:33, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your Proposal[edit source]

Unfortunately your proposal to move ESB to Miraheze did not pass, meaning that I will have to wait to do anything there. Seriously though, idk why none of the users wanted to go to Miraheze.

I don't want to talk about it. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 21:20, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. There is actually a SpongeBob wiki here on Miraheze anyway. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:35, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
