Gazetteer of wikis[edit source]

You've added several wikis to the section Wikis developing a fantasy reality of the form, "The ___ Song Contest Wiki". There is also "The Song Contests Wiki" above these entries. It seems that these wikis should be grouped together, and if the song contests are real (as opposed to fantasy), they should not be in the "fantasy" section. Can you reorganize them? Spıke (talk)04:27 3-Jan-2018

The song contest wikis are now in a new section called "Song contests". CoolieCoolster (talk) 04:37, 3 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Cool, Coolie. Now, is "The Song Contests Wiki" related to the others? Spıke (talk)04:45 3-Jan-2018

I think it just has information about song contests, and isn't a song contest wiki itself. CoolieCoolster (talk) 06:15, 3 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

But fans of song contests would be better served if these were all in the same place in the gazetteer. Down the road, there might even be some cross-pollination between the owners/editors of these wikis. Spıke (talk)06:57 3-Jan-2018

Podpedia[edit source]

Did you intend to make that change to the Podpedia URL? Because you have registered a new domain name? Spıke (talk)02:57 8-Jan-2018

@Spike the Dog: Yes, a custom domain has been registered recently for podpedia. Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:17, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

OK, thanks. Spıke (talk)06:34 8-Jan-2018

Another nice find of a podcast wiki creator today! Miraheze will be better off if we come to be seen as a central repository for many podcast websites, rather than a collection of unrelated vanity pages. Spıke (talk)17:00 18-Jan-2018

@Spike the Dog: I just think that it is more efficient and encouraging for podcast wikis to work together than seperately. CoolieCoolster (talk) 17:27, 18 January 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Those are good reasons; I gave you one more. Guy vandegrift wrote recently in his "game changer" section at Community noticeboard about getting support for Miraheze from Wikiversity/Wikipedia. Any number of onesie vanity sites gets us no closer to this, but your work organizing them might. Spıke (talk)18:33 18-Jan-2018

Advertising[edit source]

Hello, with your recent screenshot posted on Meta, File:Screen Shot 2018-05-29 at 1.07.37 PM.png I see that you were trying to add an advertising service (Google AdSense/AdWords) to a Miraheze wiki. Please note that any third-party advertising is prohibited on Miraheze, per the Content Policy (Using a third-party advertising network to display advertising is prohibited on Miraheze.) Therefore, I would like to ask you to immediately refrain from any efforts to add any third-party advertising services to your wiki. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:21, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am not trying to add AdWords to Podpedia. I am trying to pay Google to advertise Podpedia on Google. CoolieCoolster (talk) 17:22, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay, I apologize for the misunderstanding. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:47, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Podpedia[edit source]

Hi. I'm trying to adopt as you can see here: Requests for reopening wikis#podpedia.miraheze.org, the wiki you own and apparently you control it, and with inactivity, the wiki runs the risk of being deleted or suffer vandalism; Could you help me with the Podpedia adoption process? (Since it is barely active, with only spambots attacking the wiki), and that, I would somehow try to contribute to it, and so because you are inactive in Podpedia. Thanks. Changes to Podpedia[edit source]

Hello CooliCoster, can I change this current theme to Vector theme (default in MediaWiki)? I have several reasons for switching:

  • The current theme is a bit weird looking, it doesn't matter too much but the lyrics are smaller. Readability is often a priority in readings;
  • This current theme is very strange and when we switch pages a white screen appears;
  • This current theme makes the edits panel gigantic and I don't even need to mention this one, which is a priority: the edit buttons and the history are a little hidden, to be honest, I struggled a bit to find the edit button or the history;
  • This theme is not responsive: with a better theme and a larger read tab, we might rank better in search engines.

If you don't want/like the change I won't; you still have control. Thanks. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 01:28, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I might suggest Timeless instead, as a means of differentiating the wiki from Wikipedia in terms of it's default UI, but if you prefer Vector then feel free to change it to Vector; I appreciate your interest in the wiki! CoolieCoolster (talk) 03:28, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Cool your choice, I always tried to do that, so as I like Vector I kept using it on my own wiki, I just made a few changes of CSS to make it different from Wikipedia: [1]. Anyway, let's apply timeless to Podpedia, as I also never liked having a theme the same as Wikipedia YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 03:37, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
