Hello and welcome to my Usertalk page! You can ask me for help, about me, or just chat!
After December 31st of each year, all threads will be archived. Please place new topics at the BOTTOM.
For emails: I prefer to be contacted on Miraheze, but if something is too urgent or personal, you can email me. Due to personal reasons, emailing me will be a one-way message. This means if you email me, I will not reply to the email. I will answer on Miraheze. If you would like to talk to me on Miraheze, but want it private, you can ask on this Wiki, because I am the only contributer. Thank you for understanding.
Don't see the topic you are looking for? It might be in the 2023 archive!

What is a harassing wiki?[edit source]

The user reception wikis were closed i want to know what is an harassing wiki? 78.211.22.19 15:27, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm guessing that they are wikis that are about hating and putting down someone's work, a group of people, or a specific person; which is a violation of the CP. The Reception Wikis were deleted due to a community vote. Commetian Empire (Talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 21:54, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This is not quite true. The main user reception wikis (known as the Outcast Network) were shut down in September 2020 for Content Policy violations; Qualitipedia (the main media reception wikis) was shut down two years later by community vote. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 23:05, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Tali64³ Oh, sorry. I joined after all the Qualitipedia stuff shut down, and I don't really know anything other than what they were and that they were shut down by community vote. Commetian Empire (Talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 17:27, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I found a word in the meme "while the users reception wikis are swept out of the existence the media reception wikis are still here"
What the fuck have to say in their mind? I'm not a bad person they are the bad persons.>:( i DO nothing fucking wrong they must be beaten so i can be superior 78.210.156.200 22:26, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

RE: Changes to Stewards' Noticeboard + Merger FAQ + Fundraising copy[edit source]

Hi Commetian Empire,

While intent was good, please do not make material changes inserting new text to transition and policy documents as well as fundraiser language -- this should only be done by members that are party to the transition or in charge of fundraising operations.

Additionally, please refrain from commenting on what is/isn't possible on Steward Requests -- we will have a team of new Stewards to back up Void shortly, and those folks should make final determination over whether a request can be done or not.

Thanks again for your diligence.

--NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 14:35, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@NotAracham oh, okay. Sorry about that; I won't do that anymore. But with the Steward Request thing, I saw that Agent Isai had put "cannot be undertaken" on another CheckUser request made around the date that the one I closed was made. Commetian Empire (Talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 16:45, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yep, in that case there wasn't as much connective data to go off of, with the request you commented on there's a common mode of operation that may make it a bit easier to trace and action w/ other tools even if IP data is gone.
--NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:54, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
oh, okay Commetian Empire (Talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 17:52, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Again, please avoid touching policy/company pages, we unfortunately collided as I was working to protect the company page. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 00:56, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Removing thread[edit source]

Hi, please note that removing threads, regardless of whether the issue has passed or not, is not how we do things here. All threads are archived and kept in the record. Following on to NotAracham's notice as well, I would suggest you don't interfere with things that you are not sure of. Reception123 (talk) (C) 20:37, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Reception123, since the topics aren't auto-archiving and the noticeboards are getting a little full, could I start manually archiving them? I am completely open to archiving any topics that are needed. Thanks, Commetian Empire (talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 01:25, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We'll be resuming auto-archives in the near future, no manual intervention needed for now. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 01:29, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@NotAracham Okay! If for some reason the auto-archiving doesn't work, I am happy to help! Commetian Empire (talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 02:13, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@NotAracham When do you think you guys will get them up and running again? Commetian Empire (talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 22:20, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Translations[edit source]

Please stop blindly copy/pasting Google Translate results; I've put original text in it and got one to one what you've inserted, and all that now require fixing. Machines rarely get things in Russian 100% right, they often cause inconsistent and really awkward wording, it always needs corrections. This is the reason why that Translation policy RfC started, and frankly it doesn't seem like you had enough practice/experience with the language to provide quality translations. Legroom (talk) 06:37, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Legroom Oh, okay. I am not a native speaker of Russian, so that's why there might be some problems in the writing. I will stop translating pages until I have a better understanding. Commetian Empire (talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 22:04, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Котопедия[edit source]

Здравствуйте. Я попробовал создать новый запрос и отредактировать старый. Пока даже в непроверенные не перенесли. Dirruw'o (talk) 10:25, 22 February 2024 (UTC) Р.С. Пожалуйста, не переводите ответ, Гугл и так автоматически переводит. Dirruw'o (talk) 10:25, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Dirruw'o: Commetian Empire is not a wiki creator (and neither am I in fact). Wiki creators take time to review and it can be delayed. Looking at your request, it is inreview and due to be reviewed as soon as a wiki creator is available. BrandonWM has been reviewing your request so far. The current scope looks fine to me personally but a wiki creator must make the call. --raidarr (💬) 12:14, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This request has been approved. Please ensure your wiki remains in compliance with the Content Policy and stays within its set scope. Thank you for choosing Miraheze! BrandonWM (talkcontributionsglobalrights) 14:52, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User child[edit source]

Hello. Can children use Mirahese if they have parental consent and supervision? Dirruw'o (talk) 19:23, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Pursuant to the Privacy Policy (and by extension the Terms of Use), children as defined by relevant laws may not use Miraheze; the minimum age is 13. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 19:26, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Your privacy policy says “We encourage parents and guardians to supervise and guide the activities of their children.” So, with control it is possible? Dirruw'o (talk) 19:36, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Miraheze does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13, nor do we market services for them or target them for data collection. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will make our best effort to promptly remove such information from our records.

This excerpt heavily implies that children under 13 are not permitted to use Miraheze; the previous iteration of the policy explicitly stated so. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 19:41, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What if the parent consented to the processing of personal data? Dirruw'o (talk) 19:43, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's a good question; a Trust and Safety member would be more qualified to answer that. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 19:47, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Who is it? Dirruw'o (talk) 19:52, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Board member stepping in to this conversation, not sure why this is happening on CE's talk page but the U13 rule is a no-exceptions rule, regardless of parental oversight. -- NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 20:01, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@ Dirruw'o : The privacy policy stating “We encourage parents and guardians to supervise and guide the activities of their children” is directed at minors between 13 and 18. For the law a teenager is still seen as a child, and thus the policy states this correctly in my opinion.  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits   Auth →  20:23, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Echoing NotAracham, not sure why CE's talk page was the place for this. Further discussion should be had on the Community portal, thanks. BrandonWM (talkcontributionsglobalrights) 22:14, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
