January 2019[edit source]

Hello, I have reverted once of your recent edits as we welcome all editors logged in or not to do as much as possible. While not having an account isn’t ideal, there is nothing stopping someone asking questions before creating one. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 03:27, 13 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Template:Welcome[edit source]

Hello,

Before making major changes to templates, you should discuss them on the relevant talk pages. I have reverted your change. Please refrain from reinstating it until such a discussion has taken place. Thanks, ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 03:32, 13 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Welcoming Users[edit source]

Hello,

While very thoughtful, welcoming a user 7 months old is probably late. We can look at a template for belated welcomes soon but consider welcoming recent entries on Special:Log/newusers. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 10:26, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks! I'm just spreading influence and a good example for this community. All part of the job! In fact, that can be my title here, just welcome new editors. Yeah, just tell everyone that this is what I do now. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 10:29, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You'll be happy to know that I'm working on a Gadget to make your life easier. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 10:31, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@RhinosF1: Ooh, what kind of gadget? You know what, I can be nicknamed Miraheze's personal welcomer! --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 10:33, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@RhinosF1: Thanks, sign me up! Seems very complicated. What shall I do first? --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 10:39, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just enable Twinkle in the gadget section of preferences and use the welcome tab. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 10:40, 18 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Welcoming users (2)[edit source]

While it is great that you are willing to help out on Meta and are welcoming users, please note that the practice isn't usually to welcome every single user and we usually tend to use the welcome template for users who have contributed maybe once or twice on Meta, since the rest are just looking to request their own wikis anyway. Therefore, please tone the welcomes down, as they are not all necessary. Reception123 (talk) (C) 08:50, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Reception123: Hmmm, I find this hard to believe. Every single user that I have welcomed have all made at least on edit on Meta. I check if either their user, talk or contributions have turned blue. I check the contributions and all of them had at least one edit. I'm not welcoming anybody that hasn't contributed, because I firmly believe that half of these accounts are most likely fakes. It is not like you can do much on Meta anyway. All you can do is either create wikis or welcome people. It is not like you can make pages here, unlike Wikipedia, so that is why I decided to the welcoming role here. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 08:56, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
For the accounts, if we take a recent one, Technoturnovers, they edited here in 2016 (4 years ago). There is no need to welcome people that have been here for years, and the contribution to "Discord: Auth" can hardly be qualified as a "contribution". I agree with your point that there's not much you can do here, hence why welcoming users who probably are just here for global stuff is pointless. Also, please don't provide information that you are unsure of like you did on RhinosF1's user page when you said: "Joining the discord is your only option to solve your problems" which is not accurate. If you do not know something, it is best to leave it to someone who does. Reception123 (talk) (C) 09:00, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Reception123: Thanks, but I was only welcoming recent editors. Any editors that have been created by them in January 2020 are pretty much recent, so they still deserve a welcome. From now on, I will make sure that all of the new users that I welcome will be made in the following month. Besides, I am always watching the page for new users to welcome. At this moment in time, all users of this month have pretty much all been welcomed. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 09:06, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for your understanding. Also, you should probably make sure their contribution is meaningful, since as I said a discord authentication isn't really a meaningful contribution. Reception123 (talk) (C) 09:09, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Reception123: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that all the edits here are not compatible with the discord. All edits are separate and are not displayable. All the edits are from pages from Meta not from Discord. I understand and appreciate your point, but I know what I'm doing. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 09:13, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What I meant is that the last user that you welcomed (Technoturnovers)'s only recent edit that made you welcome them was their authentication edit or Discord. Reception123 (talk) (C) 09:21, 19 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blocked[edit source]

Hello, I am going to block you for 24 hours from the wiki and ask you to slow down before you face further sanctions. Since Reception123 spoke to you, you have:

  • Continued the dispute over RandomUser34 where you were told to take it up over email and not on the wiki.
  • Placed Twinkle templates that don’t work and not checked it leaving a nonfunctional message on a talk page.
  • Welcomed a user who has only requested a wiki and been spoke to by two users.

You need to slow down and think when you are doing things. The current welcome template is not appropriate if a wiki has already been requested.

'disruptive editing' from user not intended[edit source]

Hey just checkin in. Re... "January 2020... Please stop your disruptive editing as you did to User talk:xxx. ...& Template:Infobox/sandbox." --8ight (talk) 01:15, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
As in subject, I did & do not intend any 'disruptive editing'. Would appreciate any pointers re: Mediawiki / Miraheze procedures, as in say, tutorials. I am a MediaWiki newbie, but familiar with wikis. Hope posting on your talk page here was OK. ~ Respect, Ho4dg (talk) 01:05, 28 January 2020 (UTC)Ho4dgReply[reply]

I’ve just checked and can assure you that none of your editing was disruptive. I will remove the false warning. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:38, 28 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for yr reply! I like Miraheze so far, keep it going! Cheerz, ~Ho4dg (talk)

Refactoring comments[edit source]

Hello,

Please do not refactor comments of others, especially, to make them favour you. Even more so, the use of multiple accounts including logged out editing to avoid scrutiny is prohibited. If you do so again, you may be blocked indefinitely. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 16:07, 29 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If you're referring to me (Ho4dg), points well taken. However, if I 'refactored' 8ight's comments, this was simply for a) concealing my original IP address, b) concealing the other user involved & c) for brevity. The only reason I was using an unregistered IP was, I had not created a user yet. Also I did use a VPN, but found my connection was too slow. Cheerz, ~Ho4dg.
@Ho4dg: No, I was talking to @8ight:. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 22:27, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
LOL, have a great weekend all...! ~Ho4dg.
@Ho4dg: Oy, stop spamming my talk page or you will be blocked. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 22:32, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ho4dg is not spamming nor are you are an admin. He will NOT be blocked. You may be for impersonating authority. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 22:33, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@RhinosF1: I don't want him spamming on my talk page. I don't know him. Please tell him to reply to you elsewhere. I swear that this user is a sockpuppet of RandomUser34. Plus, I will be an admin someday. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 22:34, 31 January 2020 (UTC)heze.org or stewards[at]miraheze.org for the RandomUser34 dispute. You mention them again and I will block you. You are now formally banned from discussing or interacting with them on meta. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 22:36, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@RhinosF1: Don't you dare threaten me with a block. I will be an administrator someday you know, that will be a fact, and then I can block disruptive users. --8ight (Express yourself, be heard!) 22:38, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blocked[edit source]

Hello,

Given your blatant disregard for requests made by the admin team, likely abuse of multiple accounts and passive aggressive comments and a previous block, you are now blocked for 14 days. On your unblock, you will face an indefinite topic ban from warning users and MetaWiki and your Interaction Ban with RandomUser34 will stand. You may appeal these to the community by alerting my via email (rhinosf1[at]gmail.com) of your appeal. Thanks, ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 22:43, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
