User:Seemplez/Team of experienced "wiki helpers" to guide new users in making a successful wiki

From Miraheze Meta, Miraheze's central coordination wiki

I don't really know if it's needed, but I had an idea for a group of experienced MediaWiki users (maybe extended confirmed on *wp or admin/crat on a successful (criteria?) Miraheze wiki) could guide new users in setting up their wiki. Their help would be including but not limited to:

  1. Getting a basic Main Page up
  2. Helping create basic policies
  3. Talking them through how user/user talk pages work (I noticed someone using them as sandboxes on one wiki)
  4. Talking them through wiki markup

They'd sort of act like Apple Geniuses, but for MediaWiki, guiding you through the setup of your new wiki, getting you familiar enough with the interface to help new users.

Proposal 1[edit | edit source]

Add new wikihelper group which can be assigned to new wiki users (maybe by a "Have you used MediaWiki before?" checkbox on the wiki request form) which are given bureaucrat on the assigned wiki until the owner feels that they do not need their help anymore.
