Duplicate templates[edit source]

This seems like a duplicate of Template:@ (Or at least something that could be merged into it). Why do we have 2 templates doing the exaxct same thing? MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 14:33, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

MacFan4000 Yeah, we can merge this, though in future, when the outcome is likely to be deletion of the subject page, please ask about this at Meta:Administrators' noticeboard, as the companion talk page will have to be deleted as an orphaned talk page. Dmehus (talk) 14:41, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I do like this template as it contains clearly articulated parameters, so I'd be inclined to keep it for now, unless someone wants to undertake a merge of this template into Template:@ without breaking the merged template. Dmehus (talk) 14:43, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
With out any parameters, both are the exact same, and produce an image of an at sign. With parameters, Template:Nospam can produce a full address. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 14:45, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's with the parameters that I can see a case for this separate template (i.e., someone wanting to render the e-mail address in an even more spambot proof format (such as {{nospam|user|example.com}})). I'm not opposed to merging the templates, but only if we can do so without breaking {{@}}. Dmehus (talk) 14:48, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
