Question[edit source]

@John: Is SRE Duty restricted to only system administrators, or can anyone volunteer for the capacity as long as they fulfill the obligations associated with it? Assuming I remain active throughout May (probable), I wouldn't mind stepping up for a week since I scroll through Phabricator on a regular basis anyway, but I also don't want to take tasks away from sysadmins that are supposed to be reserved for sysadmins. SRE Duty is only meant to be fulfilled by members of SRE purely on the basis of it's purpose to ensure we keep on top of our workloads and provide an efficient service to users including security incidents. To be able to effectively serve, someone would need access to Security tasks and our emails as well as Phabricator in general. While any volunteer can volunteer to resolve tasks when and where they can, this specific role is to act an as accountability role in ensuring said tasks are resolved - it would feel wrong to outsource our accountability to volunteers whom have no strict requirements to provide a service to users.
