sitemaps, and google-site-verification files[edit source]

What is one supposed to do with a former wiki's sitemaps, and google-site-verification files?

OK, https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9008080 says there are still several ways to verify, so probably still possible. Jidanni (talk) 17:17, 9 November 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

OK, one can use extension "HTML Meta and Title" to get the <meta name="google-site-verification" content="your verification string"> .

Also one finds correct sitemaps already linked from a new wiki's robots.txt. So case closed!

Visit meta to create an account[edit source]

Currently users do not need to visit meta to create an account on a given wiki. The wiki's login form does it centrally. So "after the import is complete" is wrong! Jidanni (talk) 06:13, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

when the wiki is set to read-only, you cannot create an account. So you might not be able to create one, or you might be able to, but that depends. — revi 11:47, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK, but

Please note that we will disable any editing (including account creation) on the wiki during the import process: Your wiki users will need to create an account on Meta (this wiki!) and use that username and password to log in on the wiki after the import is complete.

means that after the import, the only way they can create an account is via meta. If this is not 100% correct, then please revise it. Thank you. Jidanni (talk) 17:19, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK. Maybe the word "until" (after) is missing. I'll try adding that. Jidanni (talk) 01:48, 1 January 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request import instructions maybe not correct[edit source]

The Request import instructions maybe are not correct.

What is an interwiki prefix?[edit source]

I'm moving from wikia, and I want to move to Miraheze, on Fandium wiki https://fandium.miraheze.org. I downloaded the files, but how do I get the files into it? It is asking for an interwiki prefix, and I'm unsure what it is. Ebp11 (talk) 19:07, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The interwiki prefix field on the import page will create links to off-wiki userpages (usually used to credit contributors from an off-wiki site), assuming they are in your wiki's interwiki table (located at Special:Interwiki). Looking at your Interwiki page, it does not appear that the Fandom site has an interwiki prefix on your wiki, so unless you request one be added by an interwiki administrator, you should be just fine to leave the interwiki prefix field blank when you upload. dross (tcg) 21:37, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Updating Link to WP Article Section Regarding Access Right[edit source]

I think a minor improvement could be made by updating the link to the Wikipedia General Data Protection Regulation article's section regarding access right. Currently it seems to refer to a section called "Right of access" which does not seem to exist on that article. Instead, the section Information and access seems to be relevant and mention Article 20 of the regulation. R4356th (talk) 15:54, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Caveats section word missing[edit source]

Under the "Caveats" section, the 4th bullet point has an error, and I'm not sure what the missing word should be to be most appropriate:

As always, any data transferred must have the proper copyright, and you must a license or ownership that allows you to host the content at Miraheze (e.g. Creative Commons). If you need to change the license of the wiki as a whole from CC-SA to some other license, please note this in your upload request.

Should it be "have"? "Use"? "Select"? | -- FrozenPlum (Talk / Email) 23:02, 27 March 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There is no python 2.9, only 2.7.9[edit source]

In the part about migrating from WikiDot, this article mentioned a script which runs 'python 2.9', but there isn't even such a thing for more info, visit python.org Heerxingen (talk) 14:20, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
