While we're on the topic of global bans[edit source]

I'm actually surprised that I haven't seen anybody get globally banned for violating Miraheze's Terms of Use this year compared to last year, and the year before that. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 10:51, 16 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That I think is a very good thing. Although it's worth noting that an entire subset of ToU bans (underage users) is anonymized and you would not be privy to their status.
I think on this matter we should work towards clarifying the platform's stance towards global bans, including reasonable minimums required to make them happen, the procedure of how they're handled, and making this page more than a quasi-official essay documenting a practice we loosely base off Wikimedia but have not ratified as a platform ourselves. For example I believe the participation minimum should generally be very high - no less than 15, although this not being policy it's not something I'm going to enforce early. --Raidarr (talk) 12:09, 16 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

New policy for global ban[edit source]

This page is only an information page which only gives the guidelines of the process of global bans, but didn’t limit when should the community propose to ban a user, which led to some disputes recently. Is there anyone would like to volunteer and draft a policy about it? Cheers, Matttest (talk | contribs) 13:15, 16 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A new proposed policy is primarily drafted at User:Matttest/Global ban policy, addressing the progress, criteria, community discussion requirements for a successful ban, and how to overturn a global ban decision. Interested parties may discuss at its corresponding talk page. It will soon be drafted and created as a new Requests for Comment. "more than 3 miraheze wikis" -> does this mean "3 or more" or "4 or more"? "more than 3" is confusing, please clarify. Naleksuh (talk) 11:58, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This doesn't cover the non-wiki areas. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 13:40, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I know Agent is working on a draft that is rather independent to this one and is less based directly on Wikimedia (iirc that is what yours was founded on, though maybe it's formulatively changed). These may end up clashing if they are posted shortly within each other, but I'm not sure if Agent's draft is quite ready to publish yet. --Raidarr (talk) 11:16, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Agent Isai: Hey, are you drafting a new proposal for global bans? If that’s the case, it would be great that if you consider some of the points drafted on my policy, and to prevent clashing, you can submit your proposal at Requests for Comment and I won’t submit another. I just considered to create this new proposed policy myself since not much users here said they wanted to draft the policy. Cheers, Matttest (talk | contribs) 13:33, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
