Talk:Gazetteer of wikis
Add topicCriterios[edit source]
- Añadido Spike the Dog.
Special:WikiDiscover[edit source]
Can't see SDIY wiki in Special:WikiDiscover? --Rob Kam (talk) 09:34, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- If you search through all of the wikis, the wiki is there, it's just uncategorized. You need to go on Special:ManageWiki on SDIY Wiki and change the category the wiki is in. CoolieCoolster (talk) 11:44, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Done, thanks. --Rob Kam (talk) 12:25, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Karnia-Ruthenia isn't fictional, so the category of the Libertian Archive is wrong.[edit source]
Hi everybody,
Karnia-Ruthenia is not a "fictional empire", but a micronation, an entity that claims to be an independent nation or state but is not recognized by world governments or major international organizations. To explain, I'll directly quote the Wikipedia article on micronations:
- They should also be distinguished from imaginary countries and from other kinds of social groups (such as eco-villages, campuses, tribes, clans, sects, and residential community associations) by expressing a formal and persistent, even if unrecognized, claim of sovereignty over some physical territory. Micronations are also distinct from true secessionist movements; micronations' activities are almost always trivial enough to be ignored rather than challenged by the established nations whose territory they claim.
I believe the category of "other reference sites on a field of activity", better fits the description of a micronation without the immediate jump to it being called fictional.

Policy category[edit source]
I'd like to create a category to put Electowiki into. The wiki is about electoral systems. I can think of three candidates for a new category name:
- Government
- Policy
- Politics
...but I'm open to suggestions. My preferred option of the three is "Policy", but any would do. Any favorites from anyone else? Also, once we settle on something, how do I go about creating it? -- RobLa (talk) 03:58, 18 April 2020 (UTC)
Alphabetical Order of entries of Gazetteer[edit source]
Hi, I see that some of the lists in Gazetteer are not in alphabetical order.
I want to redistribute the lists using the alphabetical order in the wikiurl.
For example:
Electronics
- Synth DIY Wiki is about making, modifying, or repairing electronic musical instruments and related equipment.
- Simple Electronics Wiki is a series of tutorials for entry-level electronics.
- Using the Wikiurl criterion, mh:sdiy goes before: ``mh:simpleelectronics``.
- Using the Wiki title criterion, Simple Electronics Wiki goes before Synth DIY Wiki.
Maybe some exceptions can be made, like:
Reference sites on a field of activity -> Other
- The Holidays Wiki is a wiki about holidays in the United States.
- The Multilingual Encyclopedia is a multilingual encyclopedia.
- Mywikipedia is a wiki concerning all manner of topics.
In this case: Holidays goes first, TME goes second (despite having a T), and My wikipedia goes third. This use "title" Holiday, Multilingual, Mywikipedia.
Also it helps putting similar wikis close. Like:
Other types of wikis
- Test Wiki is a wiki on which everyone can be an administrator. It lets users test the MediaWiki software, including its administrative tools.
- Test Wiki in Spanish is the Spanish version of Test Wiki. It has the same functions as the English version.
If i follow Wikiurl order here, Prueba goes first, but the two are test wikis. So i think is ok if both are put near. --Avengium (talk) 11:52, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
New edit- i'm going to edit Gazetteer in alphabetical order.

Closed wikis[edit source]
So I noticed that closed wikis are removed from the list, but they may be adopted or reopened at some point and have to be re-added to the list. How about moving closed wikis to a seperate section called "Closed wikis" so anyone who is interested in adopting them can file a request for adoption? For anyone who opposes this on the grounds that "Closed wikis don't exist," hear me out. Technically, closed wikis still exist, but they can't be edited. And if anyone who adopts the wiki (or an admin) reopens it, the wiki can be moved out of the "Closed wikis" section. Tali64³ (talk) 19:54, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Question[edit source]
Can you add https://gamewalkthroughs.miraheze.org to gazetteer of wikis?--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 20:38, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
dcandmarvelcomics.miraheze.org[edit source]
Need help with formatting dcmarvelcomics.miraheze.org. Here's a link to one of the articles. https://dcmarvelcomics.miraheze.org/wiki/Human_Torch Iron Sword 23 (talk) 23:16, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Iron Sword 23, what exactly do you need help with? Can you elaborate? ~ Mazzaz (talk) 00:52, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- I want to add images, publishers, first appearances, powers, real name, species, birth place and aliases like on Wikipedia. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 00:54, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- Iron Sword 23, OK I'll reply there. ~ Mazzaz (talk) 01:11, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

I wasn't even talking about that wiki. Sperosdurell (talk) 22:26, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- Sperosdurell, What can we do for you? Which wiki are you referring to? ~ Mazzaz (talk) 06:38, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Genshin Impact popped up i didn't want it listed, i was trying to talk about my Wiki, EasyPedia. I think it's solved now. Thank you Mazzaz. Sperosdurell (talk) 06:52, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Top 10 wikis list[edit source]
Could this section be removed? It hasn't been updated in two years, and this website tracks the "top wikis" automatically anyway. K599 (talk) 21:51, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- I'd agree with this. Raidarr (talk) 12:36, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Add a link to wikistats as a replacement. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 12:42, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- wikistats is already linked in the intro. K599 (talk) 20:20, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- So I don't think the section needs to be kept at all. K599 (talk) 20:22, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Where are the Reception wikis?[edit source]
There are currently 27 active Reception wikis, and for some reason both of the times I tried to add them to the list they got removed. The six main Qualitipedia wikis are some of our major wikis (other than Polandball Wiki, Polcompball Wiki, Polcompball Anarchy Wiki, and Real Life Villains Wiki) in terms of active users, and the two character reception wikis are also among the largest. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 22:40, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- As far as I've gathered, Qualitipedia (as this subnetwork is collectively known) is getting to be quite the Old Shame for Miraheze--just as it was one for Fandom several years earlier. QP Meta closed on September 27, and is not long for these servers come early next year. We would've brought in founder ElementalHeroes for a bit of commentary here if not for his self-requested lock. --Routhwick (talk) 05:34, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- From what I can tell the removal reason comes down to 'no we don't want to advertise this junk' which is exceptional but then, so are the wikis and as stated above their unique reputational impact.
- EH/Grust would have no interest in commenting as he signed off these wikis and does not want to come back; founder wise Grust was only involved in the game wikis and not the rest that Bluba is referring to anyway.
- Frankly I consider this the exceptional case where it really doesn't matter how many users they have, their impact is sufficiently negative to the outlook of the platform which has so much else going for it that they should at least be stripped of advertising in venues like this and at most cleansed from the platform entirely; perhaps stripped of the ability to 'expand' in topics and simply continue what stable projects exist until they become unstable and unworthy. But that's a broader community topic, probably the domain of an RfC. --Raidarr (talk) 11:17, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- User count means nothing as they're already pretty controversial, and singlehandedly ruined a wiki farm's reputation. Like above, I would be against adding them to this list. --Zeus (talk|contribs|accounts|email) 13:27, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- User count means everythingǃ And regardless of what Miraheze stewards think, the wikis should not have their existence censoredǃ Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:52, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- Regardless, the current consensus seems to be mostly in favor of keeping them off this list. --Zeus (talk|contribs|accounts|email) 19:01, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- And how exactly is it censorship? The only wikis that were even worth mentioning were the Qualitipedia ones, and any others either are too outlandish in concept that it would only continue to keep the idea that reception wikis are a ridiculous idea (I don't like the idea of Garbage Roblox Games or Inferior Trains being on the Gazetteer) or have way too little of a user count to even matter. TigerBlazer (talk) 20:36, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- Why are you even discussing this when you were recently banned from mentioning Qualitipedia on Meta? Marxo Grouch (talk) 20:39, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- I was banned from mentioning Qualitipedia, not the Reception Wikis. Also, all reception wikis are worth mentioning. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 13:23, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- User count means everythingǃ And regardless of what Miraheze stewards think, the wikis should not have their existence censoredǃ Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:52, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Locked 🔐[edit source]
Hmm? Baxsea (talk) 22:19, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- The Gazetteer was subject to excess vandalism, so it was protected until August. If you have any wikis to add to the list, leave a message and someone will hopefully add it. Tali64³ (talk) 22:30, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for updating me! Baxsea (talk) 22:35, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- Any chance that the list can get cleaned? Looks like some of them, like the Stable Diffusion one, don't exist anymore. SirMoogle (talk) 07:08, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
I think something happened to the wikis[edit source]
When i go to the gazetter of wikis, the wiki links, don’t exist. They have been replaced with •. I know this is a miraheze or mediawiki problem, but can someone fix it?
I’ll add an image of what i’m seeing on request. Lingo (talk) 20:57, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- The interwiki prefix for Miraheze wikis appears to be broken; I don't know how long it'll take for someone to fix. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 21:02, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Pourquoi[edit source]
Pourquoi on ne trouve que les wikis en langue anglaise, et les autres ? où sont ils
