The proposal's scope[edit source]

I'm just going to point out that the proposal is specifically about adding a setting to ManageWiki that it doesn't have yet. It's not clear how this would be something that Stewards would apparently be doing, so it would be nice if elaboration could be provided on that. K599 (talk) 22:47, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

K599 Okay, that's a fair point, but would it not also require creating categories in Special:CentralNotice? That's the part I meant that would need to be requested at stewards' noticeboard. I'd be okay with reopening if this, if perhaps you can revise your proposal to provide the explanation that this would not be creating the CentralNotice categories, but rather just adding the functionality to ManageWiki to allow this, assuming said CentralNotices are created. K599, Yes check.svg Reopened, with the added note/comment. Dmehus (talk) 23:07, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A list of campaign types were suggested in this community noticeboard discussion. I would prefer community involvement, but if it is desired for such a request to be made on stewards' noticeboard, I suppose I could do that. Though I'd like to note that as far as I know, configuration of campaign types is done with $wgCentralNoticeCampaignTypes in LocalSettings.php. K599 (talk) 23:30, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that discussion was closed, and per the articulated reasons, there is not a need for certain campaign types (i.e., Global Sysop requests). Anyway, the idea is that the request for a new campaign type would be requested at stewards' noticeboard, and Stewards would then vet the request, then decide if a community discussion is required in order to, among other things, decide on how broadly, or how narrowly, to define a campaign type. @Dmehus Well then could stewards "vet" the list of campaign types in this community noticeboard discussion? The list is being proposed as the campaign types to be used, and they're based on past central notices. K599 (talk) 00:41, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
K599 I would personally be fine with the first three, but comingle the others into a "Community Notices" fourth category. That makes the proposed CentralNotices not too narrowly focused and sufficiently generic so as to allow Steward discretion in terms of what type of pan Miraheze discussion warrants a central notice. I would additionally support a fifth category for Community Directors, if preferred, as I can see the use case for this warranting a separate, more narrow category.
