Should this be 2022?[edit source]

Wikimedia names their community wishlists after they year they'll be working on it, because it's confusing and demoralizing to work on "2021" wishlist in 2022. Instead, work on 2022 in 2022. They also have confusion on changing this partway through, and since it looks like this is the first one (2020 doesn't exist) I think we should change this ASAP. Any objections to moving this to Community Wishlist 2022? Naleksuh (talk) 07:35, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

 Weak support I disagree with 'demoralizing', but I do agree semantically this is a wishlist for 2022 since that is when any of this may occur, therefore movement to 2022 makes sense. I intend to make further suggestions later on. --Raidarr (talk) 10:11, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree that using 2022 makes more sense, as it’s being ran as the 2022 Community Wishlist. John (talk) 19:38, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Explanation for change in proposal period and voting period[edit source]

I was just curious why the proposal period and the voting period were changed in this edit. To be specific, the changes were:

  • Proposal period: 19 December 2021 - 2 January 2022 (before) --> 19 December 2021 - 30 December 2021 (after)
  • Voting period: 3 - 17 January 2022 (before) --> 31 December 2021 - 7 January 2022 (after)

I haven't found anything that explains the reason for this change, so it would be nice if the explanation for this could be placed somewhere easy to find. K599 (talk) 23:16, 1 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

K599 You raise an interesting point, and I'm not particularly sure, to be honest. That being said, I'm not certain that it matters much either way. SRE, notably Agent Isai, as this is chiefly their process, but I suspect the timing may have been dependent on their needs? Dmehus (talk) 23:29, 1 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@K599: I think this should have been mentioned from the start but the Community Wishlist Survey's proposal and voting periods are dependent on the activity on the CWS. Our original plan was for it to only be open one week for proposals and one for voting but we decided to extend it though it has always been our intention to shorten the period back to a week or a bit more in the event we have no activity during the proposals period. This is done right now to allow SRE a bit more time to plan during the midst of our migration to new (and much better) servers. Of course, regardless of the Community Wishlist Survey, you can always suggest things to us and we'll see if we can add such feature to Miraheze. @Agent Isai Okay. In the future, it'd be great if this information were included somewhere in the community wishlist's page, so that people will be less surprised if this happens. K599 (talk) 01:48, 2 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
