Abuse Report: Attack site to delete

https://navaverse.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page is an attack site, dedicated specifically to hatefully attacking my person and work, created by a long-term cross-site harasser. Please delete it and terminate its creator account immediately. DummyDummyAccountContact (talk) 15:02, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

@DummyDummyAccountContact: if possible, could you send an email to staff(at)miraheze.org (or stewards(at)miraheze.org) with more information? Currently, it is difficult to determine exactly what is being targeted by the contents of the wiki. Any additional information you could provide us that would help to identify the issue would be appreciated. (Any information you provide to those emails will be kept confidential unless you request otherwise). -- Void Whispers 18:18, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
@Void: Email sent, please tend to it ASAP. DummyDummyAccountContact (talk) 18:36, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Hide fake user accounts?

Although abuse filter works fine, user accounts are still added to the wiki by spambots. It bugs me to see the wiki user list including fake names. On shared hosting I would merge and delete spambot created users. Extension UserMerge is declined on Miraheze for incompatibility with CentralAuth. Apparently CentralAuth does have lock and hide. Please can wikis have (obviously spambot created) fake users hidden? Rob Kam (talk) 10:30, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Block the user. Then use IRC and send a list for the users to be locked to the stewards since account actions are global. Thanks Sau226 (talk) 07:40, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
Not to be locked, they only ever use the account once anyway but to be hidden so that in the User list fake spambot users don't outnumber the real contributing users. --Rob Kam (talk) 11:02, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
Here's a list from SDIY wiki of the spambot created fake one-time user IDs. These have all triggered the abuse filter. Please can they be removed from the list of users? --Rob Kam (talk) 12:47, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
I think the use of hideuser may do unless they are used for cross wiki spam. Very useful for blocks that can not be removed except by oversighters --Sau226 (talk) 09:29, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. Asked at T2583. --Rob Kam (talk) 11:37, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
and declined. --Rob Kam (talk) 15:18, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
Up to steward discretion, but imo this doesn’t warrant a hideuser. OS#Usage states we generally do not make an exception and I don’t think this deserves an exception. — revi 18:38, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
I've locked all accounts listed (at one point or another), but I don't think hiding the accounts is warranted. -- Void Whispers 01:50, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
On Wikia Uncyclopedia, the problem was that new accounts "aged" in 72 hours and became able to upload images and move pages (until the latter was shut down to all but autopatrolled; a shell game of page-moves took hours to sort out and undo). So there may be a strategy to plant one-shot accounts and abuse them later. Nevertheless, this behavior is common over wikis from Wikia to Wikifur, either with 0 edits, or 1 edit being an "introduction" with gaping inconsistencies. Rob, if you are "bugged" by fake users in the list, your reaction is the problem to overcome; showing an open interface, we will not be able to do anything about it, and disinfecting after them is a waste of time. Spıke (talk)03:52 9-Jan-2018
Rob just let this drop. These users are all locked and hey a wiki is meant to be a community project. On miraheze, any vandal can create an account and show up in your user list before spamming. The most you can probably do is turn on [1] and lock some features for a week or so if there is a big influx of spam users. If you're not online when the spam usually happens I suggest you go and give someone else access to protect the site on your behalf. I used to be a steward on a wiki farm but for various reasons left. During my tenure we had a lot of spam users but we never had any need to oversight them (we just locked them and deleted their spam). Many other wiki farms like wikipedia don't use oversight unless absolutely necessary since any abuse could have wide lasting effects --Sau226 (talk) 05:51, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
Okay I accept there is nothing going to remedy this. --Rob Kam (talk) 12:43, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

Rename username

Hi, I want my UnCrisitano username to be changed to UnCristiano. This because I registered it with an error. UnCrisitano (talk) 15:35, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

 Done -- Void Whispers 17:49, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Void. UnCristiano (talk) 17:57, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Hello Void Is it possible to change my name in Phabricator?. This is because it appears with the wrong name: UnCrisitano when it should be UnCristiano like here. --UnCristiano (talk) 17:52, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
@UnCristiano: Since you only had 3 mentions on Phabricator and you were email-confirmed, I've renamed your Phabricator account. You will have to reset your password via email to login. -- Cheers, NDKilla ( TalkContribs ) 18:21, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

I want to adopt "sosunwundo.miraheze.org"

I think that wiki is worth exploiting. That's why I want to transfer the wiki. Is it possible? --Leaveto (talk) 07:26, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Requests for adoption is the proper place. Wiki is kind of 'wiki will be closed if you do nothing', so it's yet edit-able. If you edit there, nothing will happen. To get admin/crat access, please visit Requests for adoption after enough activity. Thanks. — revi 07:33, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Request: Addition to CVT

CVT for MacFan4000

Please, rename user JanaNes to Berenice, if it is possible - this better fit into wiki context. Thank You. Beren (talk) 12:37, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

@Beren: Could you please, in some way, confirm that the current owner of the account agrees to the rename? Thanks! -- Void Whispers 01:35, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I want to be renamed to Berenice. Thanks. JanaNes (talk) 07:23, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Problem accessing hamim.miraheze.org

When I visit the wiki, I receive "access error" in Turkish. See below. In a nutshell it says Ha-Mim does not belong to the admin group. Thanks!

İzin hatası Aşağıdaki nedenden dolayı bu sayf::ayı okumaya için yetkiniz yok: İstediğiniz işlem, Hizmetliler, Members gruplarındaki kullanıcılarla sınırlıdır.

-Ha-Mim (talk) 13:14, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

According to Special:CentralAuth/Ha-Mim you do have sysop permissions. Are you logged in? MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 17:07, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
Thank you it works now. I had to refresh the page a few times in order to access the Wiki. I am not sure why it didn't let me in immediately after the login. -Ha-Mim (talk) 23:26, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
I take it back. There is a problem. https://hamim.miraheze.org redirects to https://hamim.miraheze.org/wiki/ and I get the error above each and every time I visit https://hamim.miraheze.org. Problem goes away when I click on the logo upper left which goes to the Main Page https://hamim.miraheze.org/wiki/Anasayfa Could you help? -Ha-Mim (talk) 00:07, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
Logins seem to fail when accessing the wiki from https://hamim.miraheze.org and I'm not too sure why. -- Void Whispers 00:18, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
Any devs who can shed some light? Thanks. -Ha-Mim (talk) 00:10, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
I recorded video capture of the problem. Please check it out. https://imgur.com/a/re8qR You will see that even though I am logged in, when I go to hamim.miraheze.org directly, system "thinks" that I am logged out (see upper right corner). Could this behavior have anything to do with the problem in hand? Thanks agian! -Ha-Mim (talk) 13:56, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
@Reception123: @Revi: @NDKilla: @Southparkfan: — Any help on this issue? I believe that a Phabricator task may have to be made CnocBride | Talk | Contribs 18:16, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Request of CVT for AlvaroMolina

Cannot add global user to user groups in private wiki (retki.miraheze.org)

Hello,

I cannot add globally registered user (e.g. accounts 's_koulikov' or 'ksd4341') to a user group of the private wiki retki.miraheze.org so that they can access the wiki.

That used to work with other accounts before. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you,

--tetzu0

They need to create an account on the new wiki (by visiting there once) before the new user is created locally (global user list and local user list is a different thing. Latter (local user) need to exist to grant "user rights". If they do not show up in Special:ListUsers in your wiki, local account is missing. Inform them of the new wiki and ask them to visit. — revi 10:27, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
It may also be a problem that "koulikov" created an account with a capital S. Spıke (talk)12:26 6-Feb-2018
Indeed, the local account got created after the first login to that wiki. Thanks!

FabLac.miraheze is not dormant...

Hello,

The wiki "FabLac" is not dormant. Please don't close it.

Thank you. Bes regards, Sophie

Please sign your requests in future with 4 tildes (~~~~). Thanks Sau226 (talk) 08:04, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
@Sophie: Since I've noticed you have already requested this, would you maybe need an exception to the Dormancy Policy? Reception123 (talk) ('C') 09:41, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

You can disable or delete this account

I was helping someone who was trying to create an account with an error message when I created the teststerbal account.

They are now able to login. You can now delete or disable the teststerbal account.

Thanks, Teststerbal (talk) 04:17, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Done by NDKilla. (For the procedural notes, accounts cannot be deleted, it's just prevented from login.) — revi 07:29, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Resigning from CVT

As new CVT members are doing their duties very well and I haven't been really active in CVT work for a while, I decided I don't want to keep the role. Please remove CVT from global/local permissions. Thanks! — revi 07:37, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

 Done -- Void Whispers 20:10, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
IRC flags need to be removed and so does the bureaucrat flag on CVTwiki. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 21:38, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
I'd like to thank Revi for his continued exceptional service to Miraheze and it is sad to see such a competent member of the community leave the CVT. :D CnocBride | Talk | Contribs 22:42, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Request import into Template wiki

Please could these be exported from English Wikipedia, with Include templates and only the current revision selected, and imported into Template Wiki?

--Rob Kam (talk) 16:16, 20 February 2018 (UTC)

Please make a Phabricator request about this. I assume you want the templates to be imported in an XML dump because the Special:Import feature fails because of load times. If so, then make a Phabricator task as Stewards cannot help you in this regard. CnocBride | Talk | Contribs 15:25, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
Done at T2756, yes because of load times it's near impossible for the wiki admins to make use of special:import. --Rob Kam (talk) 17:53, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
