Please, delete Reiaasu' Wiki
Hi, I'm the one who started Reiaasu's Wiki. Sorry my bad english...
I've started this wiki because I wanted to share a lot of ideas and interests on a webpage. However, I'm very busy in my real life (wife, little son, work, etc.), so I don't have the time to organize the ideas and content that I wanted to put on the wiki. So I think the best option is to close the wiki.
And, in the future, if I have all the content properly organized, would you allow me to re-create this wiki?
Thanks for providing to me and for everyone a free MediaWiki-based wiki (and one that looks like the standard MediaWiki, not a weird thing like Wikia...)

Merge accounts
I've had a request to merge two accounts here: https://allthetropes.org/wiki/Topic:Tn1hvc57uwgq5n6a
I think if both emails are confirmed, we can be reasonably sure that the account can be renamed or whatever. --Labster (talk) 07:31, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
- I know that this is an old thread, but it is possible to globally merge multiple users using CentralAuth UserMerge. However, the UserMerge extension is required for this to work. -- Amanda (talk) 14:51, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Un-Private (?) Inkubator
Not sure how/why non-members cannot read any pages on inkubator.miraheze.org, but I'd like the entire wiki to be readable to the public. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bt109 (talk • contribs)
- This is because you requested a private wiki. However, this can be changed by any system administrator @Reception123: Amanda (talk) 00:39, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- For future reference, requests such as this should be directed to phabricator. It might be a good idea to add a section on this to the FAQ or the header. -- Void Whispers 01:06, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- I will change the wiki to private and add the FAQ question. It is already in the header though. Reception123 (talk) (contribs) 05:46, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Globally lock I.Am.Awesome
WikiCanada CheckUser request
The former user is blocked indefinitely on WikiCanada for being a vandalism-only account. They currently have an unblock request open stating that they are sincerely sorry. I am convinced by this unblock request by itself - however searching through deleted contributions I have a feeling that the user could be connected to the latter user, who is globally locked. I request CheckUser for further information before taking action on the unblock request.
Note to checking steward: the "check user" group on WikiCanada is defunct - you need to use the "steward" group. Amanda (talk) 22:30, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
CheckUser
I would like to request a CheckUser of this spambot. The global account was locked by @NDKilla:, but it is only the most recent spambot that started on my wiki (WikiCanada), so I would like to block any ranges necessary to prevent further disruptive behavior. -- Amanda (talk) 13:31, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
bureaucrats rights + private wiki
Hi, I'd like to get Bureaucrat rights on the following wiki page which I adopted yesterday. Initially, I thought I had the rights, however when i tried changing the wiki from public to private I was told that I dont have the permission to that. Many thanks, Paulius. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pauliusk (talk • contribs) 05:51, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
User name change
Hi,
I just need a user name change.
- Old name: Pepribal
- New name: 4eggstrading
It would be cool if contributions appeared from now on as made by the new username.
Thanks a lot.

CheckUser and Oversight group pages
All other userrights pages are in the "Meta:" namespace, except for CheckUser and Oversight. Unless there is a good reason for this, I would like to suggest that these pages be moved into the Meta namespace to match all the others. I would do this myself but both pages are fully protected from editing and moving (don't know why). -- Amanda (talk) 21:07, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- There are not in the Meta namespace because they are global tools that affect all wikis, therefore they should stay in their current namespace. I also don't see why you're pretending that you don't know, as you can obviously see in the history that they have been protected to stop the recent vandalism. Question
Can I use images from Wikipedia Commons without downloading then uploading them? Berlino.caracciolo (talk), 10:28, 9 May 2017
- Yes, you can use images from Wikimedia Comments. Just wikilink them like you would any other image and they should appear. -- Amanda (talk) 12:51, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

- @Berlino.caracciolo: Just fill out this form. You don't need to change any of the fields other than the title and the description. -- Amanda (talk) 12:10, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Edit wiki with permission
The only thing I need is to be able to approve or reject any edit on my wiki. Is this possible? Thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Safwat.alshazly (talk • contribs) 12:03, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Not steward comment @Safwat.alshazly: The fact that your wiki is private already allows you to restrict who can edit it. You can grant the "member" permission using Special:UserRights on your wiki to anyone you want to edit the wiki. —Alvaro Molina (✉ - ✔) 12:03, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Filter 14
Now that the filter has disallow enabled, I think that the global filter option should be disabled. Anonymous user page spam seems to only be an issue on Meta and a few other wikis, excluding WikiCanada. Additionally, I oppose filter 12 and filter 14 being global as they have elevated actions enabled. -- Amanda (talk) 21:43, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
- Of all the 80+ hits for the filter, none have happened on meta. It is also worth noting that for the CVT page deletions for spam, most are for IPv4 userpages. In any case, the filter is an attempted work-around for the currently non-functional global titleblacklist. The functionality of the filter would therefore wind up being implemented with or without the filter. I cannot see how the filter would have an impact on your wiki, since IPs don't even have read access, and the filter does not hit users. -- Void Whispers 22:06, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
- We do not provide an opt-out for some things, and Spam Blacklist and Title Blacklist are one of them. They are to protect our wiki farms from the spam and abuses. Since both extensions are currently malfunctioning, we are working around by using Abusefilter. — revi 00:42, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Site notice keeps appearing in spite of log in and edits being made
The following notice will not disappear since a few months, even if I do make some edits or logs :
"Miraheze Staff has noticed that this wiki has no edits or logs made within the last 45 days. If you would like to prevent this wiki from being closed, please start showing signs of activity here. If there are no signs of this wiki being used within the next 15 days, this wiki may be closed per the Dormancy Policy. This wiki will then be eligible for adoption by another user. If not adopted and still inactive 135 days from now, this wiki will become eligible for deletion. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with Miraheze's Dormancy Policy. If there is activity on this wiki you can go on MediaWiki:Sitenotice and remove this notice yourself. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to Contact Us."
Robert for algopedia.miraheze.com
- The notice itself states that it can be removed by editing MediaWiki:Sitenotice. You can either blank the page or delete it, either will work. I do not believe the notice is removed automatically, although it would be a good idea to look into doing that. -- Void Whispers 20:57, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
Ok, thanks, it worked. I was just wary that removing the notice myself would not prevent the wiki from being closed by Miraheze Staff. If I understand well, the notice absence is sufficient for the staff to understand that the owner does not want its wiki to be closed. Robert
Wiki went mobile while I was away
Hi there!
I've returned to my wiki after a hiatus. I notice it's changed to mobile mode while I was away. I've looked through the FAQ and SpecialPages but can't find a way to turn it back. Can you advise me in how to do this?
I'm not entirely against it, but I miss the side bar with the image and quick links, the bar at the top with the quick links. Much easier to navigate and less blank white space.

Admin who was banned from our community needs their bureaucrat title removed
The wiki over at collabvm.miraheze.org is one about a community known as CollabVM. Recently, a higher up user known as Technoturnovers caused some trouble which resulted in them being banned from the community. However, we cannot remove their bureaucrat title for the wiki, and they may figure out that they still have Administrator rights on here and attempt to destroy our wiki. If an admin could remove the Bureaucrat role from Technoturnovers, that would be much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CtrlAltDelete (talk • contribs)
- @CtrlAltDelete, CHOCOLATEMAN69, CollabVM, Dartz, FluffyVulpix, and LoveEevee: This request brought some of the content on your wiki to my attention. I believe that the contents of several pages violate our Content Policy, including several instances of what could easily be considered hate speech. I've gone ahead and made your wiki "private" instead of outright removing all access to it, to allow local sysops to clean up the content. If you would like specific examples of unacceptable content, please email me/the staff at ndkilla

CnocBrides request for Wikicreator
Hello! Some of you may know me others may not. I have been a member of this community for 1 year, 2 months, 9 days, 23 hours and 27 minutes as of posting this request. In my opinion thats quite some time and its been a lot of fun. Miraheze has enabled me to continue writing the content I love to produce on my personal wiki at Aeross and also expand my knowledge at TME.
That is why today I am requesting rights to become a Wiki creator. I really want to help the whole community out and what to give a helping hand to the administrators, stewards and all the other staff who keep this fantastic community up and running.

- Please be aware that the namespaces may not be configured to have subpages. For example, meta only has the main and tech namespaces set up to have subpages. Login issues
Please help me. I can not log in to more than one wiki. See Special: CentralAuth/myriam. That is exactly the problem of "not attached". I do not know the cause of the error "Login unification not complete!" Forced logout when I browse other than home wiki. "Exception" error will be issued and login will be difficult. By the way, I am not good at English. Thank you. --Myriam (talk) 18:51, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

Issue with the efn template
I've been using the efn template on my wiki but I struggle with it. Instead of outputting lowercase letters from the Latin/Roman script, it gives out the type of letter followed by a number (example here). Is this something a steward can help with or will I have to fill a feature/extension request? If its the second, what do I have to request specifically? Waffitti (talk) 14:50, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
- Maybe @Void: can help with this? Being a steward is very little related to technical things, that is up to sysadmins and volunteers also help. Reception123 (talk) (contribs) 15:01, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

Unable to log in
Hi, I'm unable to login to miraheze.org. I've tried connecting to softwarecrisis.miraheze.org and bootstrapping.miraheze.org. I was able to create an account on the former subdomain, and at the time I received a similar error but found I was logged in anyway. Since then I'm unable to log on, with errors like "[6b3d1cb13719e11e93c3d520] 2017-08-22 22:32:27: Fatal exception of type "Exception".
My username is "Kartik Agaram". I've looked at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Logging_in#Log_in_problems, but my browser is set up to always allow cookies from miraheze.org or any of its subdomains.
- The issue is not with your browser. It's local. All accounts that are not attached to loginwiki cannot login. Normally, the accounts should be attached, but there have been issues with the way CentralAuth has been working, and this doesn't always work out. Thankfully this is an easy problem to fix. - Please note that Stewards' noticeboard is only for steward matters, so your initial request on Phabricator was the correct procedure.

Received an error in wiki request
Hi, I'm new here and wanted to create a wiki.
In my request I used "von_muenchow.miraheze.org" as URL and "Wiki von Münchow" as Wiki name. The form complained about only alpha-numeric characters being allowed in the database name. Now I don't know whether I should remove the underscore from the domain or the german special character ü from the name.
Additionally, I can't correct my request and submit a second time, the system states "You have already requested a wiki." But I thought my request has been cancelled/not submitted due to the aforementioned character problem. I'm puzzled.
Could you please have a look at that? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Florian r (talk • contribs)
- @Florian r: Unfortunately, for now why don't support hyphens (-) or underscores (_) for URLs. That is an anti-spam measure, you can re-request in an hour, or if you want you can tell me which URL you would like (with no underscore) and I can create it now. Reception123 (talk) (contribs) 06:53, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Status of my Wiki request
Hello !
I have requested the creation of a new Wiki. But I can't see anywhere (especially here https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges) its request or creation status. More, I can't ask for a new one claiming I have already asked for one, so the request seems to be registered. So can you tell me what the situation is about my Wiki demand?
Thanks a lot!

internal error : fatal exception of type "Exception" on log in
Hi, I have some issues with my members accounts. I have created them with a random password sent by email. But when they try to connect they get this internal error and are redirected to the login.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:CentralLogin... page. My account does not have this problem. But I have created another test member account that has it. After getting this error page it seems I need to come back to my wiki website and I seems well connected. Is there a redirection issue? Thank you.

Dear stewards,
I'd like to have my wiki discussion.miraheze.org deleted please. I no longer need it and am planning to make a new wiki that better suits my interests if it doesn't exist already. Thank you for hosting this site for all to use.

- @Sau226: Please make your request on phabricator, as it requires the attention of a sysadmin rather than a steward. -- Void Whispers 21:45, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- I would normally just do it directly, but no access currently, so as Void said, creating a Phabricator task is best so that it can be properly tracked and so that I don't forget. There seems to still be a lot of confusion between stewards and sysadmins and their roles looking at this page, so I think something should be written to make it very clear what each do. request a wiki - invalid characters
I clicked "submit" on the request a wiki page after filling out the relevant zones, and then got an error telling me I had used invalid characters. For the record, I had not used any really weird stuff, but I had put a dash in the Subdomain and a space in the Wiki Name. Was one of these the invalid character? And does the error mean I have to submit my request again once correct? I tried to resubmit it right afterwards, once I removed the dash from the subdomain, but I got another error telling me I had already requested a wiki. The name of the Wiki was "Arctic Lands Wiki," if that's of any help. Pavellius (talk) 03:05, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Reaching wiki users
I think the banner that is displayed for people viewing pages on Miraheze is inappropriate for people without accounts. A simpler hyperlink that takes up less space would be more appropriate.
While a Request for Comment makes sense for users it do not make sense for wiki viewers.
Perhaps something like this should be A/B tested:
click here for more information about the Miraheze wiki farm's request for comments
- This has been discussed, and as soon as we get the CentralNotice extension working, this should be done. Also, in the future for matters that do not directly concern stewards (this would be sysadmins) please use the Community noticeboard instead. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:01, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Request for CVT
I have stalled my request for the CVT as the Code of Conduct Commission is formed. I am currently running for a position on the commission and I am prioritizing this over my CVT request. I ask all people to please comment on the COC formation discussion over at the community noticeboard. - CnocBride (05-11-2017)
Hello my name is CnocBride. I understand many members don't really know me except for my work with wiki creation and feature requests. I have been here for 18 months with one period of inactivity (June 2017 until October 2017 due to end of year exams and a different school environment). I have always wanted to be as helpful as I can to the community and I do so through my work as a wiki creator and processing feature requests. I contribute to around 3 wikis regularly, one of them being The Multilingual Enyclopedia, one of the largest projects on Miraheze.
As you may have read by the title I am coming here today to request to become a member of the CVT. The CVT has been something I have wanted to always join. One of my goals on Miraheze is to become a steward but I have said I will not apply for that until I have a deep understanding of the community and fighting vandalism and various other activities a steward needs to know. The CVT is seen by me as a great way to help the community more and is a stepping stone on the ladder of Miraheze. I understand that feature requests and wiki creation is not a role of the CVT and you would deem me inexperienced with countering vandalism and I do admit I am not perfect but I can learn. I understand the basics from my time at Wikipedia and over here. If I could learn to use Github and Phabricator (learn how to use its basics) within a few days I can surely learn about Counter Vandalism. Also it is from my research that there are only 2 members of Miraheze that are on the CVT. I believe as Miraheze grows vandalism will become a far more widespread problem and I also think that I can help out a lot in the fight against vandalism both in the present and the future.
I understand many of you do not know me and I shouldn't be trusted but that is really because I am a sort of quiet person on Miraheze. I work on helping the community and I constantly want to help Miraheze to expand. I really do want to help the community out and I hope that if I can get on the CVT I will be able to help this community far more. CnocBride 22:49, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Questions
- Which methods will you use to monitor vandalism/spam globally? Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:04, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- Well one of the methods I would use is CheckUser. CheckUser would is a great tool for monitoring accounts who make suspicious edits. Another tool I would use is the AbuseLog. This is another good tool for monitoring vandalism and spam. Finally, I would just use any reports or complaints that come to me from wiki bureaucrats and administrators.

- What expiry would you choose when blocking an IP address who spammed pages on a few wikis? Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:04, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- Well from what I have seen on the block log and from my personal views I believe spamming cross-wiki on a first offense would call for a 6-12 month block of your account. On the other hand, long term abuse, in some cases, would warrant an indefinite block of your IP. In my opinion, if someone vandalised one wiki I would only limit their block to about 3-6 months on that own wiki. Any further offences, I believe, would either be a global block or indefinitely blocked from that wiki.

Weak oppose I’m sorry but I feel like we have enough Stewards/Cvt members. MacFan4000 (talk) 01:51, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yes I do agree with your point we have enough stewards but we currently only have 2 CVT members who have to patrol over 2,500 wikis to ensure that vandalism does not occur. Yes I do understand that if you put the stewards and CVT members together there is 5 members who have the powers to stop vandalism. However, the stewards have huge responsibility with other things apart from just fighting vandalism. The CVT was made so that it can fight vandalism itself and assist the stewards in relieving some of their workload but thank you for your comment :). CnocBride 09:06, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Close the ban appeal
Can a steward please official close the ban appeal and implement proposal 5A? The RFC has been open for almost a month now, and, while I acknowledge that proposal 5A does not have overwhelming support, it has the greatest support of the relevant proposals (the proposal for me to “just go away” is irrelevant). I won’t be able to edit frequently over coming days as I have friends in the US that I’m visiting for Thanksgiving, but I’m tired of this just hanging over my head. As noted in the proposal, after one month the issue can be re-visited if I find that the conditions of the proposal are not working. Thank you for your consideration. Amanda123 (talk) 14:54, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- More accurately, proposal 5A does not even have majority support, as noted on the page — despite the arrival of a brand-new user whose only contribution was to vote on the page, not to vouch for OP but to endorse her current half-measure. Fishy. OP is not entitled to be given the benefit of the doubt, especially based on a promise that her future conduct will not resemble her past conduct. But, yes, it is time to dismiss this issue; also, OP. So sorry that OP has all the drama hanging over her head — despite being the origin of nearly all of it. Spıke (talk)15:00 20-Nov-2017
- So you are yet to provide a specific example of how my past conduct was inappropriate. I came to Miraheze to help manage LP’s wiki in December 2016 when she was in the hospital. After that, I returned to Miraheze in April 2017. Between April and May 2017, I created WikiCanada as my personal wiki, and was also involved with the global and community affairs of Miraheze to some extent. This was before you even joined the community, so you can’t really be a judge of that. If you think that within either the first month in December or within the second month in April I engaged in conduct that was inappropriate enough to ban me, you need to provide specific evidence and diffs. Additionally, while I agree that the semi-support vote of a brand-new user is somewhat unusual, the assumption of good faith is still essential. Amanda123 (talk) 15:14, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- IMO a proposal is closed and passed only when there are more support votes than oppose. In this case, the proposal clearly failed. MacFan4000 (talk) 15:46, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- @MacFan4000: As noted by John, this is a discussion, not an outright yes or no vote. As such, the actual arguments matter more than the number of votes. For proposal 5A, the majority of the opposition is “oppose — go away we don’t like you” and/or “strong oppose but I don’t want to provide a rationale”. Neither of these are valid arguments in my opinion - whereas the support for proposal 5A actually has valid arguments by multiple users. Amanda123 (talk) 15:51, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- IMO the outcome really is decided by a steward and not you. If they think it fails then it fails. If they think it passes then it passes. MacFan4000 Talk Contribs 16:05, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- I do not think that it is appropriate to pressure stewards into making a decision, especially suggesting that they choose one proposal over the others. A Steward will close the RfC when they deem that it is necessary. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:40, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

Permissions fix
I made my alternate account Walkden1986-1 on Used Car Guide wiki a bureaucrat and sysop but can't remove the bureaucrat permissions, please can a steward remove them? Thanks, --Walkden1986 (talk) 21:42, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
Done -- Void Whispers 22:04, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you. Didn't realize you couldn't remove bureaucrat permissions here. --Walkden1986 (talk) 22:07, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Walkden1986: You can request that that be changed, and either allow bureacurats to remove other bureaucrats, or create another usergroup that can do so. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:04, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

Dormancy Policy on my wiki
Hola estimados Stewards. Wiki1776 (talk) 16:29, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
Done (Note: this doesn't have to be done by stewards necessarily). Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:39, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
valentinaproject request
Just a reminder to myself/other stewards to look into this request on valentinaprojectwiki. -- Void Whispers 03:36, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Done by SPF. Voidwalker (talk) 15:25, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
Requests for adoption
Just a note for myself and other stewards that there are two requests on the Requests for adoption archive page that are still marked as open. Those should be reviewed, as well as any currently in progress request currently on the page. Voidwalker (talk) 15:24, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- Handled, for the most part, the in-progress requests that got archived had no active maintenance from the user who requested adoption. They can make another request if they need anything. -- Void Whispers 20:26, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
Problem with accessing Miraheze Phabricator
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask help with this problem (please redirect me if it's not), but I'm having trouble accessing phabricator.miraheze.org site. I've logged in through my Miraheze account, but when Phabricator asks me to check my Email for a confirmation, I don't receive any new Email on my account. I've confirmed that the Email address I've given is in fact correct and I've tried pressing the "Send Another Email" button to no avail. CapitalistContributor (talk) 17:15, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- This is a good place to ask that question, and stewards will be able to tell you if there is a failure on the Miraheze end. The last time something like this happened to me, the failure was on my end, so if you are using a user agent like Thunderbird, be sure it's polling your provider to check for new email, or even goose it manually. Good luck! Spıke (talk)17:34 4-Dec-2017
- Did you check your spam? MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 18:10, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- Good catch, Mac. Emails that are obviously machine-generated, such as those from Phabricator, often wind up in Spam or Junk folders. Spıke (talk)19:05 4-Dec-2017
