Request for dormancy exemption

Hello. I wanted to request a dormancy exemption for SocDemWiki, if possible. I am currently hospitalized and I can't guarantee that I will be able to edit regularly. GR (talk) 21:24, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

GR Firstly, I'm sorry to hear about your hospitalization, and hope you recover soon. Secondly, thank you for your request for an exemption to Dormancy Policy, which I've now assessed. Content wise, your wiki definitely has sufficient content, much of it original content, intended to be read by real people. In terms of need, while your wiki is fairly active, looking at Special:ListUsers on your wiki, it looks like most of the contributions to your wiki have indeed come from you, with Benzix and TheDLCguy in second and third, respectively. A few others have made a handful of edits, but generally speaking, roughly 98% of the edits to your wiki have been by the three of you. On that basis, and assuming your activity level on the wiki stays diminished, I think we can justify an indefinite exemption; it's just when you're back, you are indeed very active. As well, keep in mind that there only needs to be one recent change (edit or log action) on your wiki every 45 days to prevent it from becoming inactive. Would a one year exemption to Dormancy Policy be sufficient, or would you prefer an indefinite exemption, subject to review later if your wiki's activity levels change materially? Dmehus (talk) 21:50, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Doug. A 1 year exemption would be fine. Thanks for the help. GR (talk) 07:18, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
GR Thanks for the quick response. Exemption to Dormancy Policy  granted for one year per your stated reason above and because you expect a limited number of your wiki's regular editors to have greatly diminished activity levels for the foreseeable future on a wiki with content intended to be read by real people. This can be extended beyond this timeframe, including indefinitely, as required. Dmehus (talk) 08:44, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

MrJaroslavik's permissions

Hello Stewards, Please remove my wiki creator and global sysop permissions. Also i don't want have this done by DM, please respect that, thanks for understanding.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 09:22, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

I apologize in advance if the reason for this resignation is an obvious one but as you have noticed I am not always around and active. If it is not too much would you be willing to express the reason of your departure? I find it very unfortunate that a helpful Global Sysop has suddenly decided to leave the project without an explation. DeeM28 (talk) 13:29, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Hello @DeeM28: I think you know reason for this step. I didn't mentioned it because i don't want create more conflicts. But where i said i leaving project? I will definitely come back in few months if things and atmosphere will be better. I really don't want be active on project where is hostile atmosphere only because one user that ignore all raised concerns and taking more and more power (or hats if you want). That is all i can say, thank you.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 20:33, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
I, too, would like you to stay because you have been a big part of Miraheze. However, I can’t decide for you, and if you decide to leave, then you’re always welcome back. --Anton (talk) 13:41, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your message,--MrJaroslavik (talk) 20:33, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
I understand. I confess that I did have a suspicion that this was the reason but I did not want to speculate and preferred to make sure that my suspicion was correct. I still think it is unfortunate that you are resigning your global sysop permissions because that will only hurt the community itself and not the user who you are in conflict with. I have attempted to propose solutions to this dispute which centers on different working methods and different strong perceptions. I doubt looking at it this way can make things better but it seems to me that the community would be able to judge if someone was maliciously trying to collect hats and would stop such a person by not electing them. If the community chooses to elect a person it is sure that the community sees something good in that person.
As for solution to the conflict I have proposed one: to create a guide on Meta. It appears that it was not very liked but I do not understand how it is possible to proceed otherwise? The conflict arises from different views and unless the community as a whole decides which view is the one they want to accept why should one view prevail? Here is an example: User 1 thinks strongly that users who edit with their IP address logged out should be Oversighted without request and sees this as common sense. User 2 thinks the users need to request before oversight and also sees this as common sense. The only way to decide on a rule is for the community to vote on it. The notion of common sense is not helpful because it is relative and not absolute. I wished that everyone involved would be willing to find a common solution and guide rather than insist on a specific view and call it the "common sense" or insist that it is the correct and only view. I am sad to see you resign from your global rights and hope you decide to return. DeeM28 (talk) 11:03, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
DeeM28 Wouldn't this involve enforcing policies that haven't been enforced for quite a while, or no? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 12:00, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Hello @DeeM28: I see is that he ignores all concerns. I also see that he is not willing to change anything. I don't want hurt that user, i want to be inactive on project where - you saw that in my reply above. Also i am one user, it's not such a blow to the project, right? It may be selfish, but I gave reasons for this step.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 12:26, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Please Remove My (R4356th) Rights

It has been great cooperating with other Wiki Creators and Interwiki Administrators over the months in our respective duties but with some users continuously harassing me, I have decided to resign my IW Admin and WC rights. Please remove them (if you are not Dmehus). Thank you. Redmin Contributions CentralAuth (talk) 10:06, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

I am sorry to hear that you have been experincing harassment here. With the risk of sounding insensitive, why not report the people who have been harassing you and get them to leave rather than allowing them to win and to get you to resign? I would imagine you mean off-wiki and off-Meta harassment. I cannot help to notice the timing of this resignation and am doubtful that it has nothing to do with MrJaroslavik's resignation and is a coincidence but I am puzzled and disappointed at the news of these very sudden resignations. It is a great misfortune for this project to be losing two volunteers and I wish that this can be resolved in another way rather than a resignation with no explanation. DeeM28 (talk) 13:29, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Honestly, the reason should be crystal clear to anyone familiar with the matter. I cannot find any logical reason for hanging around somewhere your voice is not heard. The Board promised to take the good standing of T&S Responders but did not follow through (see the minutes from the last Board meeting) and the appointed T&S Responder is still busy acting on his personal grievances towards me and possibly even some others. Redmin Contributions CentralAuth (talk) 12:47, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
The Board did take into account the good standing of all candidates - deciding not to progress on one who was not readily and clearly established in a strong community position at the time. As the said person is now actively involved in a position led by the company, this opens up a neutral method for you to ensure appropriate action occurs namely through the use of complaints procedure, particularly if the things you are mentioning are true. These problems were not apparent in the recent discussions where the community expressed there was still a case of the user being in good standing for the community, and neither is it noted that any complaint regarding the appointment has been raised with the Board until I came across this public comment. Owen (talk) 13:19, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
I'm sorry you're leaving here too. You have also been important here in the community. Hopefully we’ll be back someday sometime. --Anton (talk) 13:43, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
I wish you good luck in your future life. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 14:46, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Done Thank you for your time contributing in these roles. John (talk) 20:05, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
John With MrJaroslavik's resignation of Global Sysop, who's going to replace him anyways? (That is, if I'm allowed to ask at all.) DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 20:16, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
There are no upper or lower limits on members of Global Sysop. Any community member can nominate themselves at any time, either before the rights were removed. If no one nominates themselves and passes a request successfully, then no one would in theory 'replace' them. John (talk) 20:26, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
John So I guess there's no limit to that, is there? I mean, just having Reception123 as a global sysop just doesn't sound fair to me. While he's absolutely the most active Global Sysop, don't you think there needs to be more than just 1 though? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:46, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
I do think there needs to be more. John (talk) 00:24, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for removing them. Redmin Contributions CentralAuth (talk) 22:35, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Listing of spambots from Celeste Wiki

Hey all. I'm suffering from a recent spam invasion on Celeste Wiki. Would it be possible to CU-/16 and g-lock them, and if possible, block any IP ranges which are spamming? Thanks!

I've requested an NDA for the purposes of hopefully eventually being able to get local checkuser so I no longer have to ask here (or ask on the Miraheze discord). Anyways, that is all... for now. Thanks! Celeste (talk) 21:38, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Celeste Yeah, I've noticed, and I've  done the second through fourth ones, but haven't had a chance to reply to you on Discord. I've just noticed the last one, and missed the first one, so will do that as well. Dmehus (talk) 21:43, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Alrighty. Sorry for the doubleping! I'm just exhausted from the extensive amount of spam that has been coming in, and I feel helpless when it comes to purging them. Celeste (talk) 21:49, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Celeste No problem (and the final accounts are now locked, and global rangeblocks implemented). Yeah...the spam only accounts are a problem. I have a couple ideas, one is an abuse filter that prevents account creation, which I'm testing on TestWiki. Another is enabling StopForumSpam as either a global or default extension on Miraheze, but likely requires having Site Reliability Engineering set up a cron (weekly, perhaps?) to have the blacklisted IP list downloaded and updated on Miraheze servers. A final one is further refinement of our existing global spam filters, which I'm going to discuss with Void and John about improvements that can be made. Dmehus (talk) 21:55, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
I also wonder whether a bunch of Leaseweb global blocks expired. Perhaps John or Void wouldn't mind putting together a mass global block and nuking the Leaseweb ASN(s)? Dmehus (talk) 21:56, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Personally, I am only really skilled at spam countering via IP rangeblocks (which I generally put on for five years) and abuse filters. Feel free to consult me considering the latter; an improved anti-spam filter could be as simple as a three-strikes-and-you-are-out system. Celeste (talk) 21:59, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Please delete Dreadful Books Wiki

Hi. I'm the creator and former owner of dreadfulbooks.miraheze.org. I'd really want you to delete the wiki as I completely regret ever creating it due to them being part of the Reception Wikis/Qualitipedia. Don't just close it. Remove it completely.

Thank u, next, Eiji (talk) 23:14, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Eiji While you may have founded that wiki, as it's an active wiki with a fairly active community, you'd need to establish consensus of that wiki's community to request that it be deleted. If negative actions were taken against you for starting that discussion, then that would be something Stewards could be requested to help mediate. However, as of right now, absent serious Content Policy problems on the wiki which local administrators have not remediated, there's nothing for Stewards to do here. Dmehus (talk) 23:23, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Spambots from ahinfoboxeswiki

Got a couple of spambots:

Arcversintalk 23:54, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Arcversin Yes, and I did notice a third one from your ahinfoboxeswiki as part of locking some other ones. Anyway, those two are now  locked, with applicable global block(s) effected as well. Dmehus (talk) 00:10, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Spam-bots on their user pages from Crappy Games Wiki to lock

Their profile on their user pages are very identical to each other, and has similar external links. Should they be locked? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:50, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

@Dmehus: Whoops, forgot this one:
Sauvril. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 15:10, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 Ah, yes, the sneakier type of spam only account—the ones that use their social profiles. Anyway,  locked all and effected applicable global blocks. You may want to consider using Special:EditProfile to blank out their spammy link description section, then deleting their social profile. Dmehus (talk) 15:29, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
Problem is, we don't have that on our Special Pages page on Crappy Games Wiki. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 15:31, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 Oh, you probably need to add the editothersprofiles user right to your wiki's sysop group, though you may want to have a discussion with the Crappy Games Wiki community first (maybe at Talk:Crappy Games Wiki, perhaps?) to see (a) if they're okay with administrators having this right and, if so, (b) to defining the conditions where it may be used (i.e., only to remove spam weblinks, serious verbal attack comments towards another user, etc.) Dmehus (talk) 15:37, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
Why didn't I think of doing that before? I'm referring to your reply above. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 15:39, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Sorry to bother you, but someone else reported on Discord that they too, were flooded with spam-bots on of their wikis triggering the abuse logs in recent days. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 16:32, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Delete my wiki

Hi! Can you delete my wiki? It's been dead for quite a while but I think minor edits made to the homepage have kept it alive for longer than the 6 months dormancy policy. Thank you so much! --Narissa 02:53, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

Narissa Apologies for the delay in responding to your request. Looking at RC on your wiki, I'm seeing the last edit or logged action was 5 November 2020, which means that your wiki should be automatically marked as deleted on or around 5 May 2021. So, I will instead place this request on hold, if it's alright with you, until 6 May 2021 (which, incidentally, is also my birthday). If your wiki has not be marked automatically for deletion on that date, I will manually delete it for you per your request. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 23:47, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Narissa It seems another bureaucrat on this wiki has reopened the wiki, only days before its scheduled deletion date. So, unfortunately, it won't be automatically deleted per Dormancy Policy now. If you still want to have the wiki deleted, please have a discussion on your wiki among your wiki's bureaucrats and any recently active significant contributors agreeing that deletion is preferred. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 14:08, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Do these usernames violate the Username Policy?

While yes, they are indeed old, but should they be locked on account of them being Username policy violations? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 20:23, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

DarkMatterMan4500 Yes, all  locked as Username Policy violations and long-term abuse. These were likely just missed as that LTA has been quite prolific at creating vandalism only accounts. Did you find these from searching the nonciclopediawiki's Special:ListUsers list, or from typing similar usernames into Special:CentralAuth? Dmehus (talk) 20:37, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus The latter, of course. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 20:39, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 Oh okay, I was just curious, and actually thought you were going to say the former. Dmehus (talk) 20:40, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh, yeah almost forgot one:

You forgot to lock the second one I've linked to as well. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:30, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
The second one you linked is the same as the first one, unless that was a typographical error? If so, what's the second one? Dmehus (talk) 23:31, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
This one. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:32, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
And this will be my last one on Username policy violations for the rest of today. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:34, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Both now  locked as well. Dmehus (talk) 23:35, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
You're welcome. Hopefully, that should be it on those LTAs for now. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:41, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

DarkMatterMan4500 Thank you. While the first and third are definitely bad-faith Username Policy violations, the other two may not be. In any case, they're all long-term abuse, so have been  locked. Dmehus (talk) 14:34, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Well, looks like I missed this account as well. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 16:57, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Spambots at Wage's Sus

Hey. We here at Wage's Sus are having a huge problem with constant account creation leading me to believe we're having a spambot infestation. Can you help us out?
SpangusSus (talk) 13:05, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

@SpangusSus: Unfortunately, that's an issue that the whole farm is having. Thankfully, the vast majority (about 99% I'd say even) actually get caught by the AbuseFilters and therefore don't cause any harm other than filling up Special:Listusers. While not an ideal solution, or even proven to work, another user (Rob Kam) has added another create account button on his wiki to try to trick the spambots. You can try that by adding this to your MediaWiki:Common.js file. Reception123 (talk) (C) 05:47, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Adding wordmark to Meta

Could a Steward please add this wordmark to Meta ($wgWordmark) so that it can work with some skins including Modern Vector? So that it can work the width should be set to 127 and the height to 63. Thanks! Reception123 (talk) (C) 05:52, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

@John and Reception123: The guidelines indicate the small logo should be $wgIcon and the name $wgWordmark, is there any reason these weren't followed? ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 14:58, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Correction: just icon/wordmark. The wg's were created by us on top of wgLogos ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 14:58, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
RhinosF1 I'm not sure how you mean, but keep in mind that Legacy Vector will be the default configuration setting after MediaWiki 1.36 is implemented, and we're also not on MediaWiki 1.36 yet, too, so that's likely another reason. It seems like John has done everything correctly. Dmehus (talk) 15:51, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
John's followed the request. The creation of the logo doesn't use the right setup. 'Wordmark' should only be words. Then 'icon' is a small version of the logo. There's also a tagline but I'm not sure what we'd have for that yet. It's linked to on the task for ensuring these get done. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 15:56, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Right, but my concern is that replacing $wgLogo before we're on MediaWiki 1.36 will shrink the size of the logo. I'd rather delay changing anything until MediaWiki 1.36 is live. Dmehus (talk) 15:58, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
$wgIcon isn't available in ManageWiki, I was following a request which seemed reasonable. If this is wrong, my advice is SRE make the 'guidelines' possible to implement and then Stewards can implement it, rather than questioning why a Steward who doesn't have access to add new variables to ManageWiki themselves hasn't followed the guidelines that were not linked. Dormancy policy exemption

Hello! I would like to request for a permanent dormancy policy exemption for lusternia.miraheze.org. Only a few people will be editing this wiki, and this wiki will serve more as a repository of game information once finished. Sulwh (talk) 23:14, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Sulwh Well, we don't grant exemptions to Dormancy Policy permanently, though they can be, and often are, granted on an indefinite basis. The reason for this difference in wording is that a wiki granted an exemption at one stage may no longer require an exemption because it is later actively edited by a broad and diverse group of editors. In terms of your Dormancy Policy exemption request, in terms of need, indeed, this is met, as you are the wiki's only contributor. In terms of content intended to be read, it's a bit light (i.e., only thirty content pages, including the Main Page, and not counting templates or category pages). Do you know when you expect to be finished editing the wiki? The reason I ask is because I'd prefer to assess your wiki more fully once you've largely finalized the editing. Note that non-exempt wikis are not marked as inactive until after at least 45 days since the last edit or log action on the wiki. Wikis aren't marked as closed until after 60 days, and are not marked as deleted until after 180 days since the last edit or log action on the wiki. As your wiki was created less than a week ago, you do have quite a bit of a time before that would be concern. Dmehus (talk) 23:27, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Hello Dmehus! Thanks for the clarification between permanent and indefinite. Yes, I am seeking an indefinite dormancy policy exemption.
Currently, the wiki is a little light, but I expect to have about a hundred total content pages by the time I am done. I expect to largely finish editing towards the end of the month, but as the eventual goal of the project is to be a respository of largely unchanged information, I wanted to address the eventual lack of changes before I forget. Sulwh (talk) 23:31, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Sulwh Alright. That's fair. I'm going to  conditionally grant this exemption to Dormancy Policy request indefinitely as a game informational repository wiki containing cheat codes, commands, and related gameplay information, on the condition that you add at least an additional twenty (20) content pages by the time substantial completion of the editing is finished (currently expected by the end of May 2021). Global lock request May 9

Spam only accounts, on Chakuwiki and Usopedia. SchwarzTalk / ウソペディア 03:23, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

So, many of these accounts have a lot of edits. This is not typical of spam only accounts, mainly because they're usually caught by global abuse filters. Can you describe in what way each of these accounts would be a spam only account? Dmehus (talk) 10:52, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
These accounts used to list meaningless Japanese on a number of pages and broke redirect pages. (Reference link) These accounts were eventually blocked by the Local Abuses filter. (This is my expectation, but I think the Global Abuse filter couldn't discriminate the enumeration of Japanese characters.) In addition, those accounts use Tor to create a large number of accounts, so I think it's clear that they are spam-only accounts. SchwarzTalk / ウソペディア 12:47, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

Temporary inactivity exemption request for naasgamelandwiki until December 31, 2021

InspecterAbdel I'm not sure this is needed yet, at this point. You're very active, both globally, on your wiki, and on Meta Wiki, every day. You only need to make one log action every 45 days to prevent it from being marked as inactive. So, let's see how your activity is in a month or two, and if it's not very active, we can grant this request. How's that? Dmehus (talk) 16:56, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

I'm so, so sorry

Hi, this is me, Eiji. I'm writing this to say that I'm so sorry for vandalizing The New Reception Wiki. I might not get my old accounts ungloballed, but I'd like to say that I've decided to move on from ever doing this kind of shit again. I humbly ask for forgiveness, and even if I'm not forgiven, thanks for reading this apology.

Bye, Ididsomethingbad (talk) 19:48, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Ididsomethingbad Please e-mail stewards@miraheze.org to appeal. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 19:51, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Possible spam accounts

[1] [2] [3] [4] on FCRAFW and Circleyverse Wiki, they seem to be related. Can you do a CheckUser? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 15:32, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

[5] [6] I reported them because the name either sounds like those spam accounts, or because they tripped filters. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 15:39, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll look into it shortly. Dmehus (talk) 15:39, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Removal of inactive wiki creators

In accordance with the policy regarding inactivity I request that these users are removed from their positions as wiki creator:

  • CnocBride - no activity on Meta since 17 January 2021, last wiki creation on 25 July 2020
  • Furricane - no activity on Meta since 16 December 2020, last wiki creation on same date
  • Wolf - no activity on Meta since 5 January 2021, last wiki creation on 17 May 2020

--DeeM28 (talk) 17:28, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

DeeM28 Did you check the global activity on all of those wiki creators? I've been monitoring this, and will remove those which are globally inactive shortly. Dmehus (talk) 17:30, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
I was not aware that the rule was about global inactivity and to me there is not much sense in this because if a user abandons Meta and simply wishes to work on their personal wikis why is there a need for them to stay as wiki creator if they are not visiting Meta? The purpose of wiki creators is an active and quick user.
Anyway assuming that the global approach is correct, Wolf has edits only on 5 wikis in total and has not been active on any of these. Furricane also does not have any global edits in the past 3 months as far as I can observe. @CnocBride: does have edits on his/her wiki so I am pinging to ask him/her if she/he is still interested in being wiki creator as a voluntary resignation will be preferred to a mandated removal. DeeM28 (talk) 17:36, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
DeeM28 Yeah, I agree that Meta activity would make more sense, at least in the context of a wiki creator role; however, that is what I learned actually when discussing this John. In any case, pending a change to the policy, I will reach out to wiki creators who are inactive on Meta to see if they wish to continue with their permission or not. Dmehus (talk) 17:42, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
DeeM28  Three wiki creators removed and thanked for their service, in accordance with the inactivity clause of the policy, as seen here, here, and here. Dmehus (talk) 18:05, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Merge

Is it possible that my former main account can be merged with this account? Thanks, Bukkit (talk) 15:20, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Bukkit While Special:UserMerge does exist, with CentralAuth, it presents significant logistical challenges. so I would personally just suggest making Bukkit your main account. You could optionally request a lock of WikiJS, but this is entirely your choice. Dmehus (talk) 15:36, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
I'm just wondering, what challenges does it cause? Bukkit (talk) 15:48, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Global block request

Target audience:User:うどん

He is a block-breaker of User:ウソつき who has been blocked by age restrictions, and although he was blocked indefinitely at Usopedia, he is editing a new wiki. Since the time has passed since the age limit block of the main account, it is estimated that it is over 13 years old now, but in the period until then, Usopedia has repeatedly broken blocks and it is classified as LTA. Since this is a cross wiki LTA, it requires a global block. In addition, mh:enpedio, which is currently active, is also created from Enpedia's site without permission, and there is a risk of copyright infringement, so I would like you to delete it.Please mention me and reply when the block is complete. Thanks. --虎之介 (talk) 08:17, 13 May 2021 (UTC) 虎之介 (talk) 08:17, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Lock Swoe Janson for these comments

The reason why I ask this is because of these comments: 1 2 3 4 5 Almost all of these comments are extremely offensive. For example, they refer to the Original Reception Wiki Users as an autistic n*ggert*rd, and just poking fun at people who are Asians, Jewish, and uses the word "spergs", which is basically a derogatory and/or disparaging term that pokes fun at people with Aspergers. Now tell me, do these ones even enough for a lock, although the comments were removed anyways? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 17:16, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

You've not linked to specific diffs. In any case, it wouldn't be right to lock the user, without prior warning, for a couple comments. If you can link to specific diffs the user made, a warning about our Code of Conduct may be appropriate. Dmehus (talk) 17:20, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Please link to the specific log entries from the comments log. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 17:21, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Here you go. A list of Swoe Janson's comments. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 17:50, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you.  User firmly warned. Dmehus (talk) 17:58, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Merges and renames

As part of a rebrand on the Reception Wikis, some of the wikis are getting renamed and others are getting merged. Recently Horrible TV Show Episodes Wiki was merged with Terrible TV Shows Wiki, and here are the rest:

  • Merges:
    • Merge Marvelous TV Show Episodes Wiki and Terrific TV Networks Wiki with Best TV Shows Wiki
    • Merge Amazing Gameplay Wiki with Awesome Games Wiki
    • Merge Atrocious Gameplay Wiki with Crappy Games Wiki
  • Renames:
    • Rename Terrible TV Shows Wiki to Terrible Shows & Episodes Wiki
    • Rename Best TV Shows Wiki to Best Shows & Episodes Wiki
    • Rename Great Characters Wiki to Incredible Characters Wiki
    • Rename Wonderful Books Wiki to Magnificent Literature Wiki
    • Rename Dreadful Books Wiki to Dreadful Literature Wiki

For the renames it is the domains that need to be moved. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:26, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Blubabluba9990 For the renames, since these are *.miraheze.org subdomains, the subdomains shouldn't be redirected, as that would preclude them from being reused. If you still want to have their databases be renamed, this can be done, without the redirect, and is requested on Phabricator. For the merges, so basically, this would also need to be requested on Phabricator, ideally having a local discussion or on-wiki vote on each of the three wikis first. After a week or so, a local bureaucrat or Steward can assess each discussion, confirming whether there's consensus to merge. Once there is consensus to merge, you can file a Phabricator request to export XML dumps of each of the three wikis and import them to the surviving wikis. Once that's done, you can request a Steward delete the non-surviving wikis. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 20:37, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. Though this isn't really a consensus thing as all of the wikis being rebranded and merged have the same ownership. Also I did post about this on Awful Movies Wiki, and mentioned three of the people helping out with this: @MarioMario456:, @FreezingTNT:, and @Trevor807:. None of them have responded yet. Horrible TV Show Episodes Wiki was recently merged though, and was requested via the Phabricator. Though we can be patient with the others, Terrific TV Networks Wiki should be merged with Best TV Show Episodes Wiki soon since it is closed for inactivity. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:45, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Well, my main concern is that this isn't being done by a select few administrators or bureaucrats. It doesn't have to be a discussion, I guess, on each wiki, but rather, there should be some sort of discussion that the community agrees the list of wikis are part of the Reception/Qualitipedia group of wikis and that the merger is a good idea. Dmehus (talk) 20:47, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
The merges and renames could be done one-by-one anyway, it is mostly just Terrific TV Networks Wiki I am worried about because since it is closed for inactivity, there is a very short time-window to be able to merge it. The other merges and renames do not have a deadline, luckily. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:48, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. Again, I did bring this up on Awful Movies Wiki, but I am waiting for more responses. And I am patient with regards to the other parts of the rebrand, but as I said there is a deadline for when Terrific TV Networks Wiki can be merged, since it is closed for inactivity and may be deleted soon. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:50, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Here is the URL for Terrific TV Networks Wiki: https://terrifictvnetworks.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page
If you look at the Recent Changes, the last entry was on February 22, meaning that the wiki was closed on April 22, meaning we have until October 22 to merge that wiki. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:54, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
I'll generate a dump of that wiki and post it for you to download. Dmehus (talk) 20:55, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Blubabluba9990 The wiki was not manually closed by a bureaucrat nor was it a private wiki, so here are XML and image dumps for terrifictvnetworkswiki as at 21:03, 10 May 2021 (UTC). Please ensure you download them within seven (7) calendar days, and let me know once they've been downloaded. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 21:03, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
I don't usually download dumps, idk how. The three users that I mentioned do not seem to be replying so idk what to do. Since I am not a bureaucrat on any of the wikis my hands are tied. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:05, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
In fact there are only seven pages on the wiki not counting redirects, so I could even do this manually. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:06, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
That would work, too. Yes. :) Dmehus (talk) 21:07, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Blubabluba9990 No problem. I'll just {{ping}} MarioMario456 and DarkMatterMan4500 here. They should know what to do. Dmehus (talk) 21:07, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

I actually posted this on Awful Movies Wiki so we can continue this discussion there. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:22, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 See my reply to Blubabluba9990 above where I posted a couple of requested dumps. I'm not sure if they're needed anymore, but feel free to download them, if they are, in order to request they be imported onto the surviving wiki. Dmehus (talk) 21:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus I'll go on ahead and download the XML files now and get them over with. DarkMatterMan4500 Talk to me 21:44, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Bureaucrat decisions: The merges of Marvelous TV Show Episodes Wiki and Terrific Television Networks Wiki to Best TV Shows Wiki will be done next. After that, I'll rename Great Characters Wiki to Incredible Characters Wiki, take over Horrible Music & Songs Wiki, and redesign the main pages. I'll leave the domain changes for last because this would leave a lot of dead links.

MarioMario456 22:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Ok. I made a post about this on Awful Movies Wiki, so that will discuss this further. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 17:37, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Rikv Apologies for the delay in replying. Thank for confirming that. Similar to the request(s) above and previously, as the only contributor to this wiki, I've now  completed this request for you, so it's been marked as deleted and the database will be dropped the next time system administrators run the wiki deletion script (likely in early June). Do you mean you want to have your wiki closed and deleted in accordance with Dormancy Policy or manually marked as deleted? Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 13:52, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, please manually delete. I am sorry.--ロープTA (Please call me "RPT") (talk) 14:37, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
No problem at all. That's what I thought you meant, but since close has a technical meaning in the context of ManageWiki and the CreateWiki, I wanted to be certain. Anyway, as the only contributor to this wiki, this is now  done per your request. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 14:50, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Question

What do you think about MrJaroslavik removing my message from his talk page?--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 17:39, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

I mean, it's his user talk page, so he can remove it. I personally would've just used undo rather than rollback, but that is a minor point. I would maybe take that as an indication to avoid his user talk page? Dmehus (talk) 17:41, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 18:10, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Iron Sword 23 Yeah, I mean you didn't really do anything wrong, but I do think that not everyone may appreciate frequent talk page welcomes (especially if they have quite a few edits on Meta). Rather, it might be best to focus on reaching out to users who have made only a few edits. Alternatively, you could still continue what you're doing, but if someone removes your post, just take that as a personal request from them and then avoid that talk page. How does that sound? Dmehus (talk) 18:18, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Good. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 18:20, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Searching extensions

I don’t know what is the right place to ask about this, so I decided to ask here now. Also, I don't know if the AdvancedSearch and CirrusSearch extensions have been in Miraheze before? If I remember correctly, these have been available at least sometimes (when I founded the first Miraheze-poweredby wiki). Now, however, I can no longer find these on any of my Miraheze wikis on ManageWiki, nor do they appear on the Special:Version page either. Have they been deliberately taken out of service or have they ever been? If possible, should one of the System administrators enable the AdvancedSearch and CirrusSearch extensions (possibly Elastica is also needed), because I think it's a great searching interface. Thanks. --Anton (talk) 10:57, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Anton Thank you for the question. I definitely agree that ElasticSearch and CirrusSearch provide superior search functionality and experience; however, I do know that they've been declined (possibly several times) by system administrators as essentially too resource intensive. In short, they'd require more system administrators than Miraheze's technical budget allows. Hope that helps. As to whether they existed on Miraheze before, it's possible, and if that is the case, system resources would be the reason. Dmehus (talk) 12:33, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay, thanks Dmehus! This helps me. Hopefully someday we will get these extensions. Anton (talk) 12:56, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

PHP or JSON

I tried to download a DataDump of my wiki today, and it gave me an index.php file, instead of the usual JSON. Is there something wrong? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 17:41, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

InspecterAbdel Hrm, I was able to generate the correct tarballs and json files for each of the three backup types for naasgamelandwiki when I just tried. It could be an issue with your web browser, perhaps? Dmehus (talk) 17:46, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: It usually gives me a json dump. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:13, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Scary transclusion

Hi. I was wondering whether Scary transcluding could be enabled on Meta as a few users have mentioned it before and it would be useful for template transclusion/substitution from the Miraheze Template Wiki. It's also currently enabled by default for wikis so I don't see a reason for why Meta shouldn't also have it enabled. Reception123 (talk) (C) 19:33, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Strong support This would make the Miraheze Template Wiki very useful (easily so) for the rest of Miraheze. Rob Kam (talk) 22:14, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Reception123 This is a reasonable request, and is now  done. In addition to the above, scary transclusion is also enabled on Loginwiki, so this will allow for cross-wiki substitution of templates and user page subpages between Meta Wiki and Loginwiki. Lots of potential use cases, and I've also had the same thought actually, particularly because I remember reading that Rob Kam has been wanting to more fully realize the ambitions of Miraheze Template Wiki becoming a centralized template repository. Related to that, it might be useful to centralize the Twinkle templates there, too. Lily has also done some great work on templates with parameters that have been coded specifically for cross-wiki transclusion, too. Finally, as you noted, this is already the default setting on all newly created Miraheze wikis. Dmehus (talk) 13:50, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello. I consult here because I cannot register with Phabricator. Is it possible to incorporate the AutoSitemap extension? Thanks. Best regards. Hugo Ar (talk) 06:32, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello, can you tell why you cannot register to Phabricator? And I think AutoSitemap extension is possible, and only System administrators can install it. @Reception123:, @Universal Omega:? --Anton (talk) 08:41, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Anton there's really no need to {{ping}} two system administrators to this request, as this is just an extension request. It likely will need a security review, but there's also a lot of open tasks on Phabricator right now. Plus, with the forthcoming MediaWiki 1.36 upgrade, it wouldn't surprised me if we deprioritized new extension requests until after the upgrade is complete. Dmehus (talk) 13:04, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Hugo Ar What is the error message you are getting preventing you from registering for a Phabricator account? As far as your extension request goes, this may require a security review, but if it all possible, system administrators have many tasks right now, would you be okay if we deprioritized this request until early to mid June (approximately) while the MediaWiki 1.36 is underway? Dmehus, Anton:
Saludos cordiales. Hugo Ar (talk) 18:26, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Dmehus, Anton:
Thank you very much for the answers. I leave a screenshot about the failed access to Phabricator. I try to log in with my username and password that I use here (ie in Miraheze as a global account), but I can't.
About the Autositemap extension:
  • if installation is possible: no rush. It is not a priority.
  • If the installation is not possible, I ask for help to create an .xml page and manually create the site map.
I think that the installation is very useful so that the crawlers (Google, Yandex, Bing, etc.) can index the pages more easily. Best regards. Hugo Ar (talk) 18:26, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Request for Wiki Deletion

Hello, it is with a lot of painful thought that I've come to this decision, but in the end it is inevitable that I will be taking an indefinite wiki leave of absence. In the near future, due to some rather personal reasons, I will no longer be able to attend to my wikis or any others, for that matter, and am unsure when I will be able to find the time to get back into Miraheze. The time that I have spent here was time that I enjoyed, I found the community welcoming, and there are so many opportunities to help. I wish I didn't have to stop now, right when I was really getting into the swing of things, but again, circumstances in my life have changed, and I need to devote my attention to other things. Therefore, I would like to request that my wikis, ikiwaywiki and turtlewikiwiki be deleted. The first one has only ever been edited by me, and the second one is a fictional world-building wiki started by me. I don't know if I'll ever have time to visit them again, so I would just like them deleted. The first one never hit off, so I'm fine with losing that one, and I have saved TurtleWiki to the Internet Archive as well as uploaded an image & xml dump of the wiki to the Archive. Thank you all for understanding, and I hope that sometime in the distant future, I may be able to come back and pick up where I left off. Turtle84375 (talk) 22:01, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

With deep regrets, this is  done in these log actions (#1 and #2), per the articulated rationale in your request. Dmehus (talk) 23:08, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Thank you for doing this, and thank you all of the help you've given me in my time on Miraheze. Turtle84375 (talk) 23:21, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 No problem. It's been wonderful to have helped you with ManageWiki, MediaWiki, and I did particularly enjoy restoring your user groups from your over-zealous joke abuse filter. ;) Dmehus (talk) 23:40, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Nom de domaine

Bonjour

Comment fait-on si on veut relier un nom de domaine à son wiki ?

Zazoult Thank you for your question. Please note that new threads are added to the bottom of the page, rather than the top, so I've  moved this accordingly. Sorry I've had to use Google Translate as my French is a little rusty. Your question translates from the same as, "How do you do if you want to link a domain name to your wiki?" Please see custom domains for an explanation on the process and steps involved, and feel free to reach out to Reception123 at his user talk page if you have any questions. (He also speaks French fluently, too.) Dmehus (talk) 13:56, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Iron Sword 23 This doesn't need to be asked at stewards' noticeboard, and, to be quite honest, isn't really the best sort of discussion on-wiki, either. I'd highly recommend asking this on our Discord server or in our IRC channels. Dmehus (talk) 23:42, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
Asked it on Discord. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 23:45, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay,  great. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 23:47, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Lock request

To this user: Special:Contributions/Tonjobo4jw. Not useful edits. Spamming links. I don’t know where the links actually go (I haven’t tried), but together they say it takes them to illegal sites. User edits may also be worth the suppress. Thanks. --Anton (talk) 17:55, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Anton Wow, that's a strange one. Username suggests spam only account, but the edits are quite specific and not spam only account behaviour. It's likely long-term abuse, but, at minimum, it's a vandalism only account. Thanks for the report. Dmehus (talk) 17:58, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for the reply. Thank you also for the very fast action! --Anton (talk) 18:00, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
No problem. Note that this may not be the final action taken here. Though I suspect the linked diffs are just trolling, I have referred the matter to the Trust and Safety team (which includes me with a separate hat) for guidance before proceeding further in a community capacity. Dmehus (talk) 18:04, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I would like the revisions on my talk page to be oversighted/hidden please. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:42, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Firstly, requests for oversight should not be requested on-wiki. Based on my conversations with other Meta administrators, who happen to be either Stewards and/or Global Sysops, I personally don't feel suppression is required here as this is just random nonsense/gibberish from vandalism only accounts. Revision deletion, I suppose, is a possibility here, but would be an edge case, I do feel. In any case, the vandalism only accounts have been  locked and measures have been effected that should prevent further accounts from being created. Dmehus (talk) 20:42, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Second Dormancy Policy Exemption Request

Unfortunately, I have to make a second dormancy policy exemption request for both my wikis, The Wow House Wiki and The Fowl House Wiki, as I am the only contributor to both wikis and I have been busy with other things like with Qualitipedia. I do have plans to request other wikis, but I do not want The Wow House Wiki and The Fowl House Wiki to be closed. They have a lot of content on them and I also do not have a lot of time to continuously update them. I cannot advertise either wiki because everyone hates wiki advertising. Also, is there a limit to wiki requests, because I was thinking of requesting some other wikis to be made in the future, but first I have to decide what will happen to my other two wikis. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:17, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I wanna tell you that I know I'm not a steward but if your wikis are inactive, you can always reopen them by using Special:ManageWiki. Also, if you ever retire Miraheze then there's no point since these wikis will end up being raided later on, thanks. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 20:10, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I do not wish to retire from Miraheze anytime soon. I wish there was some way I could keep them archived but not closed, as I do not want them to be deleted. I unfortunately cannot protect these wikis forever. Also, I worry that I have been neglecting my wikis since recently a user vandalized it, luckily a global sysop took care of it but this does make me worry about the fate of these wikis. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:24, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I'll take a look at your wikis and assess them in terms of content intended to be read by real people in the next couple days. Dmehus (talk) 20:26, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. I plan to request more wikis but I will do that once The Wow House Wiki and The Fowl House Wiki have their fates sorted out and also after the Qualitipedia rebrand is done and dusted. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:36, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
If they get deleted, I suppose you could request them again and they don't really get deleted until around 6 months or a year. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 21:36, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Then I would have to recreate the pages all over again. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:06, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Merge my accounts

I have know that I could request account merging in this noticeboard since there was an user got denied on the Community noticeboard. Before I create lhmnwiki about a month, I have created an account called "Song Ngư" - which did not have an email bind into it. Because of that, I losed my access into it. Could you help me merge my account into "Song Ngư"? Thank you first. Song Ngư MGR (talk) 02:57, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Song Ngư MGR If your apparent alternate account, lhmnwiki, was not attached to very many wikis (i.e., only a handful or so) and had not made many contributions, a user merge per your request would be possible; however, since you note that you did not have a confirmed e-mail address to the account and cannot remember your password, we have no way to be certain this account is 100% owned by you. Accordingly, this is  not done, at least so long as you are not able to confirm this is your alternate account. I would, however, suggest that you try using Special:EmailUser to see if you can send e-mail to that user. It's possible the account did have a confirmed e-mail address associated to it. Check all your e-mail accounts and see if you receive an e-mail message. If you do, then you can try requesting a password reset. If not, then I'd suggest trying some of your common passwords. It's possible you do still have access; you just can't remember what the password is. Dmehus (talk) 14:33, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Lily deleted my contribution on Gazetteer of wikis

Difference between revisions of "Gazetteer of wikis"

I had to find out, who deleted a description added by me to my wiki Vedopedia, and found that Lily deleted not his own data with remark says "minor" edit. In my opinion it is violation of Code of Conduct. Please take action regarding that user.

The data restored back to Gazetteer of wikis

 Helper (talk) 04:56, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

The wiki that was removed in that edit no longer exists. It is perfectly valid for it to be removed. I would remind yourself though that making false accusations is also a code of conduct violation. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 08:05, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
To add to what RhinosF1 said, it's not a Code of Conduct violation to remove an entry on Gazetteer of wikis, whether the removal was legitimate or not. If it wasn't a legitimate removal, it might warrant providing guidance to the user. It looks like your wiki is now active again, so you can feel free to re-add it to the Gazetteer of wikis. Please add Gazetteer of wikis to meta main page

There is no easy way to find where Gazetteer of wikis located at and jump to it. No mention of it on main page or Noticeboards. Thank you in advance.
 Helper (talk) 05:08, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Helper Firstly, normally requests requiring intervention by a Meta administrator should be placed at Meta:Administrators' noticeboard. Nevertheless, as your request is relating to placing link to a directory of Miraheze hosted wikis on the prominent Main Page, it's reasonable to think a Meta administrator would consult a Steward before implementing the change. Interestingly, I'm a bit surprised the Main Page didn't already have a link to the Gazetteer of wikis, or Special:WikiDiscover for that matter. One possible reason might be that such a link didn't really fit within any of the four quadrants, other than the possible exception of the third ("contact us") quadrant, but even then, it'd need to be renamed to reflect that its purpose is not just for contacting or following Miraheze. It then hit me where we could place this link, for which I've also added a link to Special:WikiDiscover. Accordingly, this is now  done; however, I'm going to {{ping}} Reception123, in his unofficial community relations liaison "capacity" and because he's been around Miraheze since the beginning, to share any thoughts. Importing from Wikipedia?

I tried to import wikipedia:Peugeot 405 to http://alternatehistory16386.miraheze.org but it timed out and got this message:

I'd set it so that all history and templates were included, for attribution purposes.

Is this normal, or is there a solution to this? --Walhouse (talk) 14:40, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Walhouse I'm not certain with that specific error; however, since Wikipedia templates include a lot of template dependencies, you'll almost certainly receive a 503 backend fetch error if you try importing all revisions and templates at the same time. Thus, I do recommend you either (a) import templates one-by-one, (b) import only the current revision, linking to the source template/module using an interwiki link, or (c) file a task of templates and modules to be imported on Phabricator by uploading your XML dump. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 14:46, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Accidentally changed settings when testing user groups

I made a change to Special:ManageWiki to user groups (created a duplicate Bureaucrats user group and forgot to set special managewiki permissions) and now can't reverse it to access the interface, can't even access it even though I'm bureaucrat, how can I reverse this? --Walhouse (talk) 15:11, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Should add, at alternatehistory16386.miraheze.org. --Walhouse (talk) 15:12, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Walhouse It looks like you might be just trying to stylize your bureaucrat group with an uppercase letter. Uppercase initial characters are less desired for a combination of technical and cosmetic reasons. Would you be okay if I recreated the bureaucrat with the default permissions, then you can delete your Bureaucrats group? Dmehus (talk) 15:17, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
To add to what I said above, you would then stylize your group names with MediaWiki:Group-bureaucrat and MediaWiki:Group-bureaucrat-member. Dmehus (talk) 15:19, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
No problem, I screwed up trying to create new groups. --Walhouse (talk) 15:25, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Walhouse  Done. Dmehus (talk) 15:34, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus. Thank you. If you need to desysop a user on your wiki, is that for stewards or can it be done locally per the rules on here? I gave my test account sysop status on there, but now can't remove it. --Walhouse (talk) 15:42, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Walhouse No problem. For removing a user's sysop permission, no, Stewards don't need to get involved unless (a) the user complains the removal was done in contravention of the wiki's established local desysop policies or (b) there are no active local bureaucrats, and there's been a request to desysop the user in line with the community's consensus-established desysop policies (or global conventions and best practices, where none exist locally). For bureaucrat removals, while it is technically possible for bureaucrats to remove local bureaucrats, by default, Stewards are required to remove local bureaucrats. This is to help ensure (a) inadvertent self-removals of the bureaucrat bit and (b) the community's permissions removal policies are respected. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:47, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Walhouse Oh, good spot. I forgot to set that in my recreating the bureaucrat user group.  Fixed. Dmehus (talk) 15:51, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Thank you. I was trying to take admin privileges from a test sysop account of mine, not bureaucrat. --15:55, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Walhouse Yeah, that's no problem, and Special:ManageWiki/permissions can be a bit confusing sometimes, as it's always the group above the group you want to be able have be added or removed by said higher level group. One time, in my local capacity as a Consul on TestWiki, I inadvertently and very briefly added the ability for the forumadmin user group to add and remove consul. I quickly realized my error, and corrected it. Dmehus (talk) 15:59, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
To add to what I said above, you just need to go into Special:UserRights/Walhouse-alt1 on your wiki now that I've  fixed the permissions issue above in order to remove the sysop bit. Dmehus (talk) 16:03, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Wikis Embedding Tracking Scripts

Hi, I have recently noticed that some wikis embed tracking scripts from s7.addthis.com (and some other sites as well) which sets tracking cookies. Miraheze is an advertisement-free wiki farm and I do not want to be tracked when I visit wikis hosted by this farm which load these scripts. I was under the impression that the CP implicitly prohibited this but it turns out that AddThis links are added by an extension called AddThis, which is installed on Miraheze. Should the extension be un-deployed and uninstalled as it poses a privacy risk or is an RfC needed? Thank you. Redmin Contributions CentralAuth (talk) 10:07, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

I found the task where the extension was installed. Labster mentioned that the PP necessitates adding a disclaimer where the extension is used but that may no longer be the case and I have seen no such disclaimer on wikis using it yet. Should this be forwarded to T&S or the Board or are Stewards the right people? Redmin Contributions CentralAuth (talk) 10:14, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Hrm, I mean, yes, I was aware the AddThis extension was installed on Miraheze. It's mainly just so users can provide little chiclet links to share specific pages, comments, etc., on a given wiki across social media platforms, on wikis that have enabled them. As to whether this violates Privacy Policy or not, I believe it would depend on what sort of data is collected by the AddThis extension. For example, if it is just IP address and web browser user agent data, anonymized and in aggregate form, this may be fine. If it is collecting personal data in a non-aggregated format such that individual users can be identified, then further review is likely needed, and I suspect it would be the Site Reliability Engineering team would engage the Trust and Safety team. If the review concluded that there was no issue from a legal perspective, then I suppose, if the extension is widely used by many wikis, an RfC would indeed be the best route to go, if wanting to propose to have it removed. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 12:44, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
As a post-script to your further reply, where Labster mentioned a specific wiki disclaimer, I would just note that during that time, Miraheze was not incorporated and was managed from a liability perspective by Labster (U.S. jurisdiction). As Miraheze is now an incorporated entity in the UK, the legal jurisdiction has changed. Whether that changes the requirement for a specific wiki disclaimer requirement, I will have to have to review that with Owen. Dmehus (talk) 12:47, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Please can you handle this in your T&S capacity, let me know if you need anything. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 13:01, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
I am aware of the changes caused by incorporation and that's what I implicitly referred to when I said "but that may no longer be the case". Redmin Contributions CentralAuth (talk) 13:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I figured you were likely aware of that, but I was just noting that for others that may be following this thread. Anyway, I've asked Owen separately, as I do feel we need to first (a) look into what sort of data is collected by the AddThis extension, to ensure it is / remains consistent with Privacy Policy and (b) whether that specific wiki disclaimer is either (i) still required or (ii) no longer required, but a recommended best practice. Dmehus (talk) 13:31, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Bump. I noticed that z.moatads.com was removed from the CSP whitelist. What did T&S decide to do with s7.addthis.com? Redmin Contributions CentralAuth (talk) 21:31, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
R4356th Thank you for your enquiry and for your follow-up. With apologies for the delay in responding, the primary concern with z.moatads.com is that it is an ad server, which is indeed contrary to the ethos of an ad-free Miraheze, and Privacy Policy does not allow data to be collected for the purposes of allowing behavioural ad service providers to add to their data collection. With regard to s7.addthis.com specifically, though that decision has not been finalized, our review of the Oracle Data Cloud Privacy Policy, of which AddThis and the AddThis extension is a part, confirms that only users that geolocate to the United States have any aggregate data tracking, and Oracle Data Cloud provides an opt-out for those users. Oracle Data Cloud specifically precludes tracking of users in the EU, UK, and EEA, and says it does not track users outside of the United States. Additionally, we have also confirmed that no wiki has the $wgAddThispubid variable specified, which would've provided tracking data (those in the U.S. that AddThis tracks, of course) to the AddThis user specified by the publisher ID number. As a result, Trust and Safety is satisfied, and has left any decision on whether to keep or remove the AddThis extension to Site Reliability Engineering. My understanding, though, based on my conversations with Reception123 is that their preference would be to retain the extension, provided that it still functions without z.moatads.com, given the number of wikis that are using that extension. Hope that helps. Doug (talk) 00:59, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Suspicion on another user

Could someone at Miraheze do a Check User for both DarkMatterMan4500 and that IP vandal 75.164.7.97 to determine their proximity?

Each time 75.164.7.97 shows up to vandalize a wiki, DarkMatterMan4500 snoops in at the last minute right after all the damage is done to undo all of it. I feel like there is likely a case of superhero syndrome with this person.

Now, the Check User is to determine whether he had a friend nearby/a second address to vandalize Miraheze or if that's false.

In the future, I would also like to see the administration paying more attention to him for similar behavior. Gay Socrates (talk) 18:15, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

I don't think they do CUs with IPs. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:19, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Gay Socrates Well, 75.164.7.97 geolocates to CenturyLink in Portland, Oregon, and I have noticed similar crosswiki IP vandalism on that IP range. That being said, it would never be appropriate to link a user to an IP address. It is highly unlikely what you suggest is occurring, as DarkMatterMan4500 is just very active monitoring the #miraheze-cvt-feed connect, and reverts the vandalism very promptly. I would encourage you to thank DarkMatterMan4500 instead. Dmehus (talk) 18:27, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Gay Socrates What made you think I would even vandalize a wiki? Like what Dmehus has said, I'm usually just monitoring the wikis, and if there's vandalism happening over there, I'm usually over there reverting it. So your statement about me being related is absolutely not true, nor would I even know the user who was running it to begin with. Don't jump to conclusions, my friend. Please delete my Wiki

https://hypotheticaltornadoeswiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page - Hello, could you please delete my wiki? It started as a private project with only one other person who has since left with no intent to return, and is devoid of any activity; I do not need it. As sad as it is to make the request, any data that could be useful from here has essentially been exported to another wiki where it will continue to live on, so I feel no need to generate a dump. Thanks in advance Jarrell Tornado (talk) 01:47, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Jarrell Tornado Though wikis are normally deleted in accordance with Dormancy Policy, this is nonetheless  done per the articulated reason of your request. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 23:16, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Account separation

I keep on accidentally clicking on wiki links, and CentralAuth creates local accounts and adds them to my global account even when I do not want them there and never intend to contribute to the wikis. Since you said that it was possible to separate local accounts from a global account, I would like the following accounts to be separated from my global account: naasgameland.miraheze.org, fridaynightfunkin.miraheze.org, en.gyaanipedia.com, and fr.gyaanipedia.com, the first two of which I clicked on by accident and the latter two were me investigating a phenomenon that I had told you about in a post on Community Noticeboard. Would it be possible to create an entirely new global account from just those four accounts, or will I need to first make an alt account to have them be merged into. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:45, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Or to be more specific: User:Blubabluba9990@naasgamelandwiki and User:Blubabluba9990@fridaynightfunkinwiki. Idk what the case would be for the other two wikis I mentioned since they do not appear to have a standard naming scheme.
Here is my CentralAuth for reference: Special:CentralAuth/Blubabluba9990 Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:53, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Or at least en.gyaanipedia.com and fr.gyaanipedia.com, since the other two at least have some other Reception Wiki user influence, because they were both created by Reception Wiki users (InspectorAbdel created naasgameland.miraheze.org, and MarioMario456 created fridaynightfunkin.miraheze.org), but en.gyaanipedia.org and fr.gyaanipedia.org have nothing to do with the reception wikis or any reception wiki users, it just seems like there was a weird glitch where fr.gyaanipedia.com appears in both Inkster's and Mar9122's CentralAuth and en.gyaanipedia.com appears in Mar9122's central auth, which may just be an account creation glitch since both local accounts were created when the users were globally locked. So you should probably just unmerge my accounts at en.gyaanipedia.com and fr.gyaanipedia.com and merge both accounts into a separate account, since I do not want them in my main global account. To be honest after looking up what Gyaanipedia is it doesn't even look like they are associated with Miraheze at all. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:34, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
So that would be Blubabluba9990@gyaanipediawiki and Blubabluba9990@frgyaanipediawiki. Should I create an alt first to have these accounts unmerged or could they just become a completely separate account. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 22:26, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
We unfortunately can not unlink local accounts from a global one. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:47, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
Wait, I thought that Dmehus said that accounts could be unmerged from a global account Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:53, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
They can be. What RhinosF1 said above was not entirely accurate. That being said, there really has to be extraordinarily good reason(s) for wanting to unmerge an account and merge into it into another unmerged account, as there are quite a few steps involved, so it's really not a practice that scales on a wiki farm with four stewards and more than 4,200 wikis. If it's just to unmerge an inadvertently attached account from a wiki you didn't mean to visit while logged in, that wouldn't be an appropriate justification, in my opinion. If it's because you have notifications on a private wiki you can't access, your notifications can be cleared by SRE with a Phabricator ticket. Hope that clarifies. Dmehus (talk) 19:31, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. In that case it really doesn't seem like there would be a reason. I wish there was some way I could talk to the person who made the CentralAuth extension and ask them to make a way to delete or hide local accounts. Idk who made the extension though, they might not even be active. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:54, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Jtmlis Firstly, please note I have procedurally moved this request from Requests for adoption to stewards' noticeboard, where it is now in scope. Secondly, please do remember to sign your posts on all talk pages and noticeboards, broadly construed, with four tildes (~~~~). Finally, this is  done per your request to delete your own personal wiki. Dmehus (talk) 20:32, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Request for wiki deletion

I would like my wiki on https://d45t5g8r1g45rg4r54r5t1.miraheze.org to be deleted. Anpang (talk) 00:54, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Anpang As this wiki's sole contributing editor, this is  done per your request. Additionally, as there were only five sub-stub pages in (Main) namespace, each containing only a single sentence, I've assumed you have either (a) already generated an XML dump or (b) didn't need to generate an XML dump of your wiki. Dmehus (talk) 01:04, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! I didn't generate a dump because I don't need it. Anpang (talk) 02:42, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Another batch of spam-only accounts to lock

Could a Steward go and lock ALL 40 of these spambots that I have listed here? I know this is a bigger batch than what I have displayed previously, but I do believe they all need to be locked. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 22:12, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the report. I'll try and take a look at these tomorrow or Thursday, as I am planning on resuming the spam only account battle then. Dmehus (talk) 23:09, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Embedding wiki on our web

Hi there,

We at https://kelevar.miraheze.org/wiki/Hlavn%C3%AD_strana would like to show the wiki as embedded site on our main site (so users are not directly linked to the wiki) - http://kelevar.cz

https://puu.sh/HKCqo/3de174cc9c.png

When we were using self hosted wiki we were able to embed our wiki there. I don't know why its not working but I would ask you to change that so our users can directly use wiki on our site. LaboTec (talk) 09:02, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

I'm not sure why you'd need users to use your Miraheze-hosted wiki embedded as part of your main website or how your previous self-hosted wiki was configured, but this would need a few more details on your configuration. You should be able to show your wiki in an iframe or regular frame, though users actually editing the wiki may load it in a new tab. If it's just to present a common brand for your website, why not request a custom domain for your wiki, such as wiki.yourdomain.tld? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 15:59, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Restoration of NoelSimsSandbox

Hello, I would like to ask if you could restore NoelSimsSandbox for me, because it was deleted because of inactivity (is there a way to disable it?) I also might want to import my FANDOM articles to Miraheze if it's possible NoelSims (talk) 14:25, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Requesting a CheckUser on the following accounts on the wikloucowiki

And anybody related to Julia Bevilac. Just look at their edits, such as these diffs: https://wikilouco.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Usu%C3%A1rio_Discuss%C3%A3o:Julia_Bevilac&oldid=3585 https://wikilouco.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Usu%C3%A1rio_Discuss%C3%A3o:Julia_Bevilac&oldid=3583 https://wikilouco.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Usu%C3%A1rio_Discuss%C3%A3o:Julia_Bevilac&oldid=3584 https://wikilouco.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Usu%C3%A1rio_Discuss%C3%A3o:Julia_Bevilac&oldid=3448 https://wikilouco.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Usu%C3%A1rio_Discuss%C3%A3o:Julia_Bevilac&oldid=3582 (these 2 in particular)

If it's not obvious by now, Julia Bevilac created a new account to evade blocks. Could a Steward do something about this and lock both of their accounts up? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 21:26, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Successful election on horriblemusicandsongswiki

There is no active bureaucrat for promotion on that wiki, so I'm calling the stewards for help. Promote me to bureaucrat + sysop on horriblemusicandsongswiki with the reason being "successful election on a wiki with no active bureaucrats". The proof is: https://horriblemusicandsongs.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Main_Page&oldid=2888

MarioMario456 22:29, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

I don't see a consensus for promotion at Talk:Main Page, as I explained to you on Discord. I'll work on closing the discussion this weekend, so that the wiki can move forward with potential alternatives for consideration. Dmehus (talk) 22:40, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Then look at this and this. —MarioMario456 22:58, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: and @MarioMario456:: I posted the election results here: https://horriblemusicandsongs.miraheze.org/wiki/Talk:Main_Page#Results_of_the_election%3A MatthewThePrep (talk) 20:33, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
MatthewThePrep Thank you for your follow up, and I'll try and close the local election request within the next few days, but there's not a priority. In any case, those are off-wiki election results, which are procedurally invalid and won't be accepted as part of my close. I'll only consider comments posted on-wiki up to and prior to the point at which closure of the election was called for above (21 May 2021). Dmehus (talk) 20:37, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Also @Dmehus:, we'll need the poll extension enabled on that wiki, so that way we could do an on-wiki election. MatthewThePrep (talk) 20:43, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
The concerns expressed thus far concern the candidate, on the one hand, but also concern the direction of the wiki, so I think if another election is the outcome, it's got to include possible mergers with one or more existing wikis, and Stewards, in absence of the local bureaucrat, will need to advertise the new election process via a sitenotice on the wiki. Dmehus (talk) 20:51, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
So, how will this work? MatthewThePrep (talk) 20:58, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Another leftover username policy violating username that needs locking

I didn't even realize that this username even existed, as this one IS just a leftover long-term abusing username. Can it be locked at this time? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 19:19, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Locked. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 19:29, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh yeah, in addition to these following accounts I found just by going through a random page's history: DioSucchiaPeni, (which literally translates to God Sucking Penis via Google Translate, sorry), Rayo Wedhrecano (a possible impersonation of Wedhro), Democrazia Cristiana - Lista Puzza87 Pompini Per Tutti (translates to
Democrazia Cristiana - List Puzza87 Blowjob For All), Loppacci (just a generic long-term abuser that appears to have been missed for so long), Futtu Futtu Futu Futtu Futù (another generic LTA from Nonciclopedia, again), Puzza Puzza Puzza Puzza Che Puzza (I don't think I should even repeat myself, it's just another LTA), Arinat (Yep, it's another LTA), and I've saved the best for last: Kus78231er. Basically, they're all long-term abusers that should've been locked like ages ago. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 19:46, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I've got some non-Miraheze work to do at the moment, so will leave those for Reception123 or another Steward to review and action as appropriate. Dmehus (talk) 19:48, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay, sounds good to me. Either him or maybe even Void or another fellow Steward could do that for you. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 20:00, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Seems like I discovered yet another old LTA, AlEnAtOpOl. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 21:11, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Question

Can a steward help me remove comic book navigational boxes from articles here https://dcmarvelcomics.miraheze.org. --Iron Sword 23 (talk) 19:46, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

So, this doesn't really need a Steward or Global Sysop. I'd suggest asking in #miraheze-offtopic connect on IRC (#miraheze-offtopic-relay on Discord) for willing editors to help you remove navboxes from articles. Dmehus (talk) 19:50, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
I will. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 19:51, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Question

Is this username Rhino1 impersonating a admin here?--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 14:47, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

I asked that very same question on Discord via #miraheze-cvt connect this morning as well. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:57, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Looks to be good-faith, but the "Rhino" and "1" are quite confusingly similar. Still, "rhino" is a common name. We could possibly request they request a rename, but I'm not sure. Reception123, what do you think? Dmehus (talk) 14:58, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Disruptive vandalism-only account that needs locking

This user, 반달 바이러스, has been vandalizing pages by entirely blanking them on the osaindexwiki, and also blanked a page on the libertygamewiki, as shown here. Please lock the account, and any additional accounts that they may have. If you want to know how I found out, I peeked through the abuse logs, and discovered the user vandalizing pages by blanking them. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 15:19, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Locked. Wow, that was a lot of page blanking they managed to do on the first wiki. Dmehus (talk) 15:38, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I know, and  thanks for ripping the account to shreds by sealing it away. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 15:53, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Hello. I'm a bureaucrat of osaindex. First, I want to say thank you so much for reporting toxic user (his name means Vandal Virus in English). However, when I blocked 반달 바이러스 in osaindex, User:오솔이 says that he was auto-banned because of that. 오솔이 claims that 반달 바이러스 is his family member and demanding that he should be unblocked. I don't know about Miraheze's policy on vandal's family members, so I would appreciate it if you take look at this user according to the policy. --재미재미 (talk) 06:34, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
재미재미 Well, you're very welcome. If that user comes back using a sockpuppet account, please do let a Steward or Global Sysop know, and they'll take action immediately. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 10:31, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
He's suspicious enough, but there's no physical evidence. May I ask how can I call sysop? --재미재미 (talk) 12:45, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
재미재미 A Steward has this tool called the checkuser tool, and this is only limited to sysadmins and Stewards (exclusively, since they're the ones with the information and cannot reveal it in public mainly for privacy reasons), and what this tool can do is sniff out sockpuppets, fight vandalism and spam-bots. The frequent amount of spam-bots and vandals (with the use of sockpuppets) have been rampant since the foundation of this website. If you need assistance from a Steward, you can feel free to do it either here, or by joining Miraheze's server on Discord with the use of #miraheze-cvt connect via IRC. Some disturbing wikis I found

I was looking through Special:WikiDiscover and I found a disturbing wiki named “Real Children Feet Wiki”. I searched through the wiki while logged out and I found out that it is almost exactly what the name implies, but it is actually called “Live Action Children's Feet Wiki”. But it gets weirder. I looked for the founder and looked in his CentralAuth, and tons of similarly named wikis popped up, all of which he appeared to be a bureaucrat on. See Special:CentralAuth/DeltaRuneFan2001. I didn’t think it was necessary to visit the rest of the wikis. I really don’t think this is constructive content, and I think this definitely violates the Content Policy. Please close the wiki and look through the user’s CentralAuth that I linked above. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:28, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Not only that, if you look at their contributions on this wiki, the user admitted to them being f*t*sh wikis. Yeah... Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:36, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
I checked that out myself and that is clearly violating their terms of use, under article 7 "Under no circumstances are you permitted to submit information to Miraheze which is illegal to display, distribute, or disseminate in the United Kingdom.". You should try to spam their email until they actually do something because they don't seem to care at all here. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 11:38, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
MarioSuperstar77 Spamming their emails until they do something isn't going to do anything, and will only add more work for them than what is intended. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 11:40, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
What makes it illegal in the United Kingdom, though? While I've not yet looked at this wiki in question. We do have a lot of "drawn feet" and related wikis. Those sort of wikis are generally fine. Dmehus (talk) 13:24, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Exploitation of children. Additionally, this is morally reprehensible since it gives a channel that lets Pedophiles cater to their sexual urges. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 17:41, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Yeah. It isn't just that one wiki though, if you look at the wiki founder's CentralAuth that I linked above there are a few other wikis of such nature, focusing on socks, shoes, and feet for some reason, so I don’t think that these wikis are appropriate, as they are, like I said, f*t*sh wikis. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:57, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
The founder, DeltaRuneFan2001 doesn't even seem to be active on Miraheze anymore. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:59, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
I'm not certain why you've censored "fetish." Dmehus (talk) 13:22, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Fast-track deletion of a wiki originally intended to harass people.

Please remove my wiki ASAP, its sole intention was to upset people and was sheer libel, "satire" or not, towards groups of mentally ill individuals and I regret ever creating it. JimFlannigan (talk) 15:34, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Dmehus I think he's talking about the Peachriots Wiki. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 22:56, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I am. https://thepeachriots.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page I regret making this diet Encyclopedia Dramatica. It's one thing to make silly things about fictional characters and celebrities, but common individuals who did nothing wrong I grimace at the mere concept of continuing putting such ridiculousness into search engine results. JimFlannigan (talk) 23:18, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, JimFlannigan, that's what I thought. In fact, this wiki had a number of Content Policy issues, and we were in the process of deciding on next steps, so the fact you've requested deletion is quite helpful. As such, this is  done. Dmehus (talk) 23:27, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

  2. The account was created on the wiki
  3. The account was created a day before the request of the deletion. Bukkit (talk) (C) 15:33, 3 June 2021 (UTC)

Delete liveactionchildrenfeet.miraheze.org

It is in violation of article 7 of the terms of service since it promotes the exploitation of children. MarioSuperstar77 (talk) 12:34, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your notification. So, the policy for which you're citing is, yes, a global policy, but it is also a legal user agreement Miraheze users agree to and enter into with the legal entity responsible for Miraheze—that is to say, Miraheze Limited. As such, any complaints about matters which are potential violations of the Terms of Use are handled by Trust and Safety, not Stewards, via e-mail to ts@miraheze.org. Having examined this wiki, though, it is a handful of content pages, and a handful of screenshot images, from publicly-available sources, of the feet of child actors from television series episodes and, potentially, from television movies. So, not only do I see no Terms of Use violation, but I also don't see any Content Policy violation, either, the latter of which is in scope of Stewards. Hope that helps. Request

Would a steward mind deleting fanfictionstories.miraheze.org. I don't need it anymore.--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 14:38, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Iron Sword 23 Your recent wiki request suggests otherwise, so I'm inclined to mark this as not done. What are you trying to do? Dmehus (talk) 14:43, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Start over with fanfiction stories. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 14:44, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
I mean, that's fine, why can't you just delete your existing pages and reuse your existing wiki? If there's a lot of them (i.e., more than 50), you can compile a batch file of pages to delete (including namespaces) and file a Phabricator tasks for Site Reliability Engineering to run the deleteBatch.php maintenance script. If you need any assistance with this, please reach out to Reception123 and I in our group DM on Discord. Dmehus (talk) 14:51, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Okay. I would still like fanfictionstories.miraheze.org deleted as I'm not proud of it. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 14:52, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Iron Sword 23 Okay, per the discussion with you and the report of TheBurningPrincess in #miraheze-offtopic connect on IRC, I'm going to delete this wiki per your request, since you've now owned up to copying and pasting written prose to which you were or were not legally entitled to copy and paste, crucially, without proper attribution. It's good that you wanted to self-correct your mistake, so that is to be commended, but I do advise you to be very careful in the future, making sure to link to the source page(s) in an edit summary using an interwiki wikilink and ensure the license under which said content is distributed permits you to redistribute lawfully (again, with or without attribution). Copyright violations or infractions range from a Terms of Use matter to a Content Policy issue, and, whether dealt with in a community capacity as Stewards or in a legal capacity as Trust and Safety, it's taken very seriously. Dmehus (talk) 22:40, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
