    Please lock NapierTouchdown's account

If you see the reason that he's been blocked on the Crappy Games Wiki, it's because he's an edgy troll. Not only that, but he also wishes to commit genocide. You can also see his death threats that he sent in the comments log of Rotten Websites Wiki. Trashanimal (talk) 02:41, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Trashanimal Thank you for the report; however, I'm not seeing a need for a global lock. Certainly, this comment is not appropriate, but it's one comment. Moreover, the user is locally blocked and hasn't edited since. Thus, all I feel needs to be done is to remind NapierTouchdown of our Code of Conduct, a global policy to which all Mirahezians must oblige, and to review user accounts policy with respect to what to do and what not to do if locally blocked on a given wiki. If local talk page access has been revoked, NapierTouchdown, you may contact one of the local wiki administrators via their Meta user talk page. Dmehus (talk) 02:53, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

    Encantadia Rules Est. 2016.....

There's been some reports of this user using these following sockpuppet accounts to move sandbox pages without permission, and make weak pages with no effort put into it:

Could you guys either lock all the accounts up or warn Encantadia Rules Est. 2016 about misusing/abusing multiple accounts on his talk page when you get a chance? What those 4 accounts have in common with Encantadia Rules Est. 2016 is that they constantly keep moving sandbox pages without anybody's authorization, and making very weak pages without any thought put into it whatsoever. Not sure if this is enough, so I suggest adding in some additional details if you have any to share with me. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 00:39, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

DarkMatterMan4500 Certainly the username similarity between the latter three accounts suggests there's a link, but can you provide three to five of the most compelling diffs between either of the four suspected alternate accounts and the account which you suspect is the main account, Encantadia Rules Est. 2016? Editing or moving users' sandboxes is quite weak supporting behavioural evidence, as this could be any particular user. Dmehus (talk) 02:46, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Not sure if these help though, but here they are: This one (although you can read the deleted revision anyway),
this one in particular, this one as well, (not sure if this is enough though), this one as this is where he messed up a page, and finally some of his contributions on a particular wiki. (I'm not sure if this is evident enough however). For what it's worth, DuchessTheSponge happens to know more than me in this case. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 11:47, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 Thanks, but none of those diffs are for the user you've reported, Encantadia Rules Est. 2016, which is essential to establishing your thesis that MartinTeves and AltMarteeVENO, et al., are likely related to Encantadia Rules Est. 2016. At best, we may conclude that AltMarteVENO, AltMarteeVEVO, and MarteeVENO, are likely related to MartinTeves, but as with some of your other recent reports, it's not clear what local policy violation has been made, and you've also not made it clear to the original user on the reason(s) for their local blocks. Additionally, by revoking their talk page access, you've made it difficult for them to properly appeal their block. Finally, as the user is locally blocked on all wikis they've contributed to (and then some), there's little, if any, immediate need for a global lock. As such, I'm hesitant to take any action here as the user appears to be a good-faith user who just needs some proper guidance, which I can try and do later today if you like. Dmehus (talk) 12:00, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay then. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 12:02, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
However, I took the liberty of allowing Encantadia Rules Est. 2016 to have access to his talk page for appeal on 2 wikis. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:07, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 SGTM, but what about the user talk pages of MartinTeves? Since you've not established that MartinTeves is likely related to Encantadia Rules Est. 2016, wouldn't it make sense for you to leave that user's user talk pages open as well? Dmehus (talk) 13:16, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll look over it a bit later. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:23, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay, sounds good. Dmehus (talk) 15:37, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

    Request for mass deletion

Hi, could someone do a mass-deletion of all pages created by Larryding on the Horrible Music & Songs Wiki? All of them are completely blank, and as we all know, blank for the sake of "fill in later" does not warrant an article. TtA (talk) 09:04, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

    Lock March 23

I notice a few spambots in the AbuseLog (Meta), anti-spam and external links on the userpage. There is also one among them who has had the same purposes on the Public Test Wiki, but which I blocked there: testwiki:Special:contributions/CLMCary0166069. I didn’t get links to the external links vandals here in Meta now, but presumably the same thing I had before. I will give the list again and the stewards can go through the accounts in peace: Special:CentralAuth/LiliaAvery49, Special:centralauth/BethListon98, Special:CentralAuth/Enriqueta25H, Special:CentralAuth/Krystyna7334 and testwiki:Special:Contributions/CLMCary0166069 (CentralAuth) Thanks. --Anton (talk) 12:42, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

    Global lock for Trevorrulz

Vandalism-only account, blocked on both Crappy Games Wiki and Terrible TV Shows Wiki. MarioMario456 (talk) 15:47, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

MarioMario456 Only three global edits, only one of which is blatant vandalism. Secondarily, the user is locally blocked on several wikis, and there's no indication disruption continues onto other wikis, so I'm going to mark this as X mark.svg not done. Please appropriately warn the user on their local talk page(s), and advise us if disruption continues. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 15:54, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

There's an LTA on worldpediawiki who's been disruptively vandalizing pages on that wiki.

ABsjddhsf has been causing disruption on the Worldpedia Wiki, in which I've had to tirelessly revert their vandalism edits as they have been disruptively making redirects to nonsensical pages named "This wiki is closed", which is absolutely baloney, as that wiki has been more active as seen on the Recent Changes page. Should there be a lock made against this user for disrupting that specific wiki? There's plenty of evidence of this as listed here:

If that's not enough, have a look at this user's edits on that wiki. Please feel free to take any action if necessary. :) DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:37, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

DarkMatterMan4500 I'm not sure how you've concluded the user is LTA, but I've Yes check.svg locked them as a disruptive, vandalism only account. Dmehus (talk) 13:42, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus That's kind of easy. The way they made their edits to me, it seems like the user has used this service sometime before. I also found that 2 IP users caused the exact same disruption, but weren't too major. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:45, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 This wasn't specific vandalism, though, to any other users or anonymous users, and you've not identified those users in your report, so this just seems like random text replacement, redirect, and page blanking vandalism. Dmehus (talk) 13:49, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus I apologize if it wasn't much help, but REDACTED and REDACTED are the ones I'm referring to. I redacted the IPs for this report out of respect of the Privacy Policy, but should they be globally blocked at this time? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:55, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 Thank you. That's helpful and illustrates the vandalism only account likely engaged in logged in and logged out vandalism. However, that doesn't indicate the user is an LTA. An LTA, to me anyone, would be a person who repeatedly creates many alternate accounts and engages in persistent disruption and vandalism across multiple wikis over a prolonged time period. I've soft blocked the first IP's globally per no open proxies policy, and will locally soft block the second's range as vandalism. Additionally, there's no need to redact the IPs of either (a) open proxies or (b) anonymous IP vandals. Dmehus (talk) 14:03, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks anyway. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:05, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

    Make Wiki immune to inactivity

The Shoemaker ImmunoSystems wiki is infrequently updated, but is referenced frequently as part of an academic lab at the University of Pittsburgh. Would it be possible to make this wiki immune to the 60-day inactivity closures? The wiki is located at https://immunosystems.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page. Thank you! JJW102 (talk) 15:49, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

JJW102 Though your wiki is a bit light on the content part of our exemption to Dormancy Policy assessment process, particularly in (Main) namespace, your wiki has research in its File namespace that are not necessarily publicly available elsewhere and would be potentially detrimental if lost. In terms of need, indeed only you and several other other users edit this wiki fairly infrequently, so I'm going to Yes check.svg grant this exemption request indefinitely as an academic research notes wiki used as a resource by real people that is infrequently edited. Please note, though, that this exemption request grant is indefinite, not permanent, so please try and add a number of additional content pages over the next year should your exemption request be reevaluated by Stewards at some point after that. Additionally, should you no longer need an exemption, please do advise us of this via this noticeboard. Dmehus (talk) 16:00, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Default Permissions & Default Groups restore

Hello Can be permissions & groups restored to default on https://wiki.aridia.space/

Or restore wiki to default starting template, i have no data yet so nothing to lose

Im new to wiki, was checked features and deleted it for some reason Thank you Aridiaspace (talk) 19:24, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Aridiaspace I've Yes check.svg restored your inadvertently removed bureaucrat rights per this request. This will allow you to manually correct your wiki's permissions to the prescribed defaults. Alternatively, if you prefer to have your wiki's permissions reset to the default, you may file a Phabricator task for system administrators to do this. Dmehus (talk) 19:32, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

    Vector.css and Common.css not loading

For some reason, on my wiki (removededmsongs.miraheze.org), both the [1] and the [2] MediaWiki pages have stopped loading. I know this was recent because yesterday it was working just fine. Snowie (talk) 22:43, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Snowie Do you mean the CSS pages will not load at all? If so, can you please file a Phabricator task for system administrators to investigate? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 22:47, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, the CSS pages do not load, and I will make a Phabricator task. Snowie (talk) 22:59, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. That's strange. I'm not certain whether it's related to a problem with the pages not loading (necessitating system administrators to look into it) or a problem with the code in your CSS pages (something you can ask about at community noticeboard and hopefully someone can help you out). Worse case, system administrators will investigate it, and refer you to community noticeboard. Dmehus (talk) 23:02, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Apologies, they appear to be working now, not sure why it wasn't loading at first. Snowie (talk) 23:01, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Snowie Ah, that's great. Sounds like it was a temporary issue related to the server load. Dmehus (talk) 23:03, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

    Request for Dormancy Exemption

I would like for my wikis, The Fowl House Wiki and The Wow House Wiki, to be exempt from inactivity/dormancy because it seems like I am the only person editing on the wikis, and there is a decent amount of information and it doesn’t really need to be actively updated, and in case I don’t go back there for a while for various reasons. I am the person who requested both wikis. I may even make them private soon if more people don’t start to edit there. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:50, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Blubabluba9990 Thank you for requesting an exemption to Dormancy Policy. I've reviewed the entirety of both wikis and, yes, while you are one of the few contributors to the wiki, there's not really that much content on the wiki. In each wiki's (Main) namespace, there's about 20 pages on the one wiki and 30 pages on the other wiki; however, all pages generally consist of only a single sentence and the tag from the Comments extension, so it really doesn't meet yet meet the second criterion in our assessment process. The reason for this second criterion is that many wikis get requested and created, but then get later abandoned with little, or, in some cases, no content that is made to be read by people. What I would instead recommend to you is to make regular dump backups of each wiki in Special:DataDump, and set yourself a reminder to make at least one edit or log action on each wiki every 44 days. Even if your wiki did go inactive, you'd still have a further two weeks before it was closed, and after that, a further four months or more before it was marked as deleted in accordance with Dormancy Policy. During that time, both you can reopen it at any time, and anyone could also request to adopt the wikis if they felt they useful at Requests for adoption, and the wikis would be reopened by a Steward. So, I'm going to mark this as X mark.svg not done, at least not yet. For an example wiki of what we look for, you might look at fortressblastwiki as just one example. Dmehus (talk) 00:27, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Ok. I can try to contribute to it more. I would try and get more editors but everyone always gets angry with wiki advertising. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 00:39, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I'd be careful about advertising your wiki on local wikis. What you might consider is instead consider engaging with local bureaucrats on similar wikis and see if you might enter into a partnership with their wiki in which your partnered wikis would agree to create two-way shared sitenotices on each wiki. Don't make it about asking for help on your wiki; rather, make it about a partnership between your wikis, if that makes sense. Dmehus (talk) 00:42, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
    Ok. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:35, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Delete my wiki please... (and I'm leaving)

    here it is

It's nothing more than I mess that I've lost interest in; I made it in July 2018 and have moved on to other stuff now. However, although I actually think 2018 was the best year of my life, I think that this wiki might just have to go for a variety of reasons:

    1. copyright violations (mostly from South Park Archives, Danny Phantom Wiki, and here),
    2. it was created as a fork for myself as I was a vandal on SPA and wikia.com (having altercations over their customization) when my own wiki there ("everything you need to know about science wiki"; actually not a wiki since I editprotected all the mainspace pages) was closed; I was even trying to force my religion through multiple alter-egos on SPA's admins and FANDOM staff,
    3. lack of user activity (not even my friends in school are interested),
    4. it is extremely biased towards my (mostly unpopular) views (especially those gainst PBS Kids due to my vehemence against it),
    5. it needs to be constantly updated by me,
    6. true lack of educational value, reliability, and many inadequate sources,
    7. and I am a young-Earth creationist and thus feel obliged to promote creationism which is attacked by mainstream science.

I also feel as if I need to abstain from editing wikis due to my past behavior (and "activism") on what are pretty much the two largest wiki sites (actually I've already been blocked on one wiki here and this is another alter-ego account I've made).

You might remember that I made a martha speaks wiki around the same time I made that wiki that was merged into that one. When I began to hate MS I deleted all MS stuff there. I also made a Danny Phantom+Robert L. Forward wiki that's also been closed.

I am not motivated enough to fix all of these issues and just see the wiki as another burden on me. I'd like to let go of this "chore"; I can make this choice? Would someone please consider immediately deleting the wiki from your database? That would be very much appreciated.

This could also mean that I might leave Miraheze, after spending 3 years here, trying to run a wiki. Thank you very much for those 3 years of hospitality and El Elyon bless you and may you grow in Holiness.

    Goodbye, Joey717 (talk) 03:45, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Joey717 Please note I've procedurally moved this request from community noticeboard to Stewards' noticeboard. Though we prefer to have wikis closed and made private and deleted in accordance with Dormancy Policy, we do accept wiki deletion requests with valid reasons, which the above seems to me to be valid reasons. Additionally, I've looked through your wiki and, indeed, you have made approximately 98% of all contributions to the wiki, and you are the only recently active bureaucrat. So, I've Yes check.svg deleted this wiki per your request above. Dmehus (talk) 15:16, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Elyon bless you and goodbye.
I have one last request: if you edit at SPA please go tell them (with my username and "JoeyPknowsalotaboutthat" attached) that:
I am sorry for my past behavior. I admit that it was actually not true Christian behavior. I will not touch your site again and will no longer force my religious views on you, although I remain Christian. I am actually a New Zealand citizen (born in Philippines), actually in 2004, and Nataliya, Danny Willson, Sasha, etc. were just completely made-up alter-egos and lies. I have stopped using them too. Enjoy your day.

Thank you very much. Joey717 (talk) 06:15, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

    I wanted to my wiki get closed because yeah, I made it for my fictional universe but I think it is too early for making a wiki for it. So, here is my wiki;

Reaper Bruh Sans Similar to the above wiki deletion request, as this is your personal fictional worldbuilding wiki, for which you've provided 100% of the content page contributions, I've marked the wiki for Yes check.svg deletion, and it will be permanently expunged from the servers the next time Site Reliability Engineering runs the wiki deletion script (likely next month some time). I was wondering if you could delete my account, because I don't want to use Miraheze anymore, I want to move to another platform.-NintenDylan64 18:29, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

NintenDylan64 Thank you for your request, which I've procedurally moved to here as the noticeboard was not protected in any way, so an edit request was not required. While it's not technically possible to delete your account, we can either (a) rename your account to a randomized name and/or (b) lock your account. Please advise if either of those options are what you are looking for. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 18:36, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

I want Toxic Fandoms and Hatedoms Wiki back

What happened to Toxic Fandoms and Hatedoms Wiki and how can I get it back? Shelley316 (talk) 01:07, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Shelley316 Sorry, that wiki was closed in late September/early October 2020 due to systemic unresolved Content Policy issues and Code of Conduct violations. I see your account was only created in January 2021, well after the wiki in question was was closed, locked, and made private by Stewards. Do you happen to have a previous account and, if so, if you held sysop rights on the wiki at the time of closure, you could go into Special:DataDump (using your original account) and export an XML dump of your wiki and self-host it; however, it isn't able to be restored on Miraheze, sorry. Username usurpation request

Hey, could I usurp the username "Elli" (is my username on WMF Wikis and some others). The user "Elli" here has made zero edits since their account was registered on any wiki. Thanks! 0xElli (talk) 10:10, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

0xElli Looking at the global accounts for the user in question, it looks like no Meta or Loginwiki accounts were created; however, the account is a global account. Nevertheless, our usual practice is for the requesting user to post a message on the user in question's Meta user talk page, so I will reach out to a system administrator, likely Reception123, to see if he can run a maintenance script that will attach Elli's account to Meta wiki so you can post your message. After a period of typically 2-4 weeks time, you would just return to stewards' noticeboard, replying to this thread or linking to the archive thread and starting a new thread if it's already been archived, so that a Steward can process your request. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 14:41, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Please ping me when I can leave them the message, then I'll do that and check back here in a few weeks. 0xElli (talk) 09:18, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
0xElli You can now leave a message on Elli's Meta user talk page. Referenced Phabricator ticket #T6951. Dmehus (talk) 16:56, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
Left a comment at their talk. Thanks for your help! 0xElli (talk) 07:18, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
No problem. Dmehus (talk) 07:19, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Since I haven't gotten a reply back, could the usurpation take place now? Thanks. 0xElli (talk) 20:03, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
0xElli, sure, yeah, I think that's fine. I'll start the rename requests later tonight or tomorrow. Dmehus (talk) 20:04, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

    CheckUser request

Recently there has been a lot of vandalism-only accounts with fairly simplistic names on our wikis, and I want to find out who's responsible for all of these accounts if they are in fact being created by one user. Here's some accounts that come in mind:
    Rocker
    Bell
    Cherry
    Fanta
    Knife
    Cartoons
    Cuphead
    Gary --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 18:02, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

DeciduousWater534 Rocker and Bell have already been Yes check.svg locked as vandalism only accounts, but I feel the vandalism is too generic to assess as potentially related to some of the other listed users. Cherry and Fanta were already previously locked, and the contributions of Cuphead were indeed nearly identical to those users, so Cuphead has also been Yes check.svg locked. For Knife, Cartoons, and Gary, while the usernames are indeed somewhat similar in form, they haven't yet edited, so until we see some editing, I don't think further action is needed at this time. Please do advise if they edit on wikis where not blocked, especially if the vandalism is substantially similar to the other locked users in some way. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 18:25, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus One user suspected that Radel1996 was behind those sockpuppet accounts, but that account is too stale for CU results. What do you think? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 20:14, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

    Requesting deletion of spambot accounts

Every day on sdiy.miraheze.org accounts are created by spambots. With various measures in place these accounts don't ever get used. Currently on the wiki there are 2,272 registered users but of these only 24 have done a legitimate edit. Please could the 2,248 dormant accounts be deleted? Rob Kam (talk) 19:39, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Rob Kam We can't delete accounts. It's technically possible to merge and delete existing user accounts into other user accounts, but this is not commonly done for mainly technical reasons. Typically, we just lock spam only accounts. We could additionally hide them, potentially, as well. Have you also considered enabling the StopForumSpam extension on your wiki? It's supposedly fairly effective at stopping spambot account creations. Finally, you could also potentially consider removing the ability for anonymous users to create accounts account on your wiki, and post a note for them to create an account on Meta Wiki. Dmehus (talk) 19:50, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Merge and delete is what I'm asking for. I can provide a text file of the names if that helps. These spurious users make an unnecessary mess of the wiki stats.
Spam itself is not an issue. The abuse filter extension already prevents the spambots very effectively. Locking spambot accounts is almost pointless with these used-one-time-only accounts. I'm the user who asked for StopForumSpam to be added to Miraheze in the first place - I'm unsure whether what difference it has made. Making account creation more intricate is an idea but I'm reluctant to add yet more hurdles in the way of anyone wanting to make constructive edits. --Rob Kam (talk) 00:40, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
There are several logistical issues with merging and deleting spam only accounts. Firstly, spam only accounts are not all created by the same only account farm, so it would logistically very challenging, if not impossible, depending on the age of the accounts, to confirm whether spam only accounts were indeed created by the spam only account farm. Secondarily, as the accounts are global, accounts are also attached, at minimum, to Meta and to Loginwiki, so it's not just your wiki where the accounts exist. Finally, it would be very messy. Thus, unless another Steward and a system administrator are willing to sign off on this, I'm going to say that this would not be possible, unfortunately. That's very neat that you are the user that requested the StopForumSpam extension, though. Dmehus (talk) 01:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
There is one other option that may be of interest to you, and this would involve you exporting XML, image, and ManageWiki settings dumps of your wiki in Special:DataDump (on your wiki). You would then request system administrators to delete, drop, and recreate your wiki as a fresh wiki with a Phabricator task. Once that's done, you would then create another Phabricator task to import those dumps you generated. This would repopulate your wiki as at the time of deletion, without the spam only accounts attached. The downside of this, though, is that while your and other users' contributions would still be locally assigned, they would not be reflected in your global edits in CentralAuth. As well, if any spam only accounts had made edits, their accounts would be re-added, but most of the spam only accounts would not be reattached to your wiki. Dmehus (talk) 01:31, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

    About my wiki

I requested for my wiki Rolling Sky English Wiki hours ago. User:Dmehus let me add some descriptions. But now nobody has replied to me. Is it because there is not anyone noticing it or it is still not good enough to create it? Zes M Young (talk) 03:42, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Zes M Young It was basically just the former rather than the latter. I've looked at your updated wiki request and, though still a bit vague, it was good enough to approve as essentially a foreign language player version of the gaming mod wiki rswiki. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 03:50, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

I kicked myself out of my wiki...

So, funny story, I accidentally removed my ManageWiki rights on a wiki when I deleted a usergroup that I had replaced, but forgot to put myself into... could a kind steward please put me back into the "owner" usergroup on this wiki? Thank you! Turtle84375 (talk) 21:29, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Turtle84375 Yes check.svg Done. Please remember that when you are changing around your user groups with the managewiki user right, to always ensure you've added the new group with the managewiki user right before deleting the old user group. Dmehus (talk) 21:52, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, much appreciated. I wasn't paying attention, so I neglected to place myself in the "owner" usergroup before deleting "wiki_owner" (with that not-so-nice looking underscore), so that's entirely my fault. I will make sure to pay attention to that in the future. Turtle84375 (talk) 21:56, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 Not a problem at all. It happens, somewhat more frequently than you might expect. So, not to worry. :) Dmehus (talk) 21:58, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

    About Radel1996

Just like I reported to Dmehus last night, I have found out that he may have a connection to all those hooliganism-only/vandalism-only accounts that's been popping up under our radar over the span of 3 weeks as seen from this topic here. Doug had a look, so I think all the Stewards around here should look as well, not just Doug. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:56, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

DarkMatterMan4500 I haven't had a chance to have a look at it today; will try and look tomorrow. You did already report this on my user talk page and in #miraheze-cvt connect, so this is effectively the third copy of this report. We're all volunteers, and will get to your report in due course. Dmehus (talk) 00:04, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Okay, sorry about that. With all due respect, I won't make anymore duplicate reports about it. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 00:14, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
No problem. It's better if the reports are just consolidated into one location. This is good now, though. Dmehus (talk) 00:20, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, you're right about that. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 01:36, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

    Issues with new user accounts

    Hello Stewards of Miraheze!

I have new wiki users that registered their accounts in my Miraheze wiki (iceria.org) and are experiencing issues in getting their accounts activated to be able to post and edit articles. I even went ahead and changed their usergroups, even made them administrators! Still having the same issues, not having permissions to edit and participate in the wiki.

Screenshots of the errors are attached - looks like the user here is in a catch-22 where they can't fix their email issue because they don't have the rights... how can this be fixed on my end? Is this something I can address, and if so how?

    ERROR 1: https://i.imgur.com/k8qKXcq.png

    ERROR 2: https://i.imgur.com/oDniAJ5.png

Attached is a list of the three accounts that need to be confirmed are listed in "Capture1.PNG". It's the accounts User:Ardy and User:PrimodeAguilar. I created a second Ardy account (User:Ardy2) to test if it was a problem with the user or with the wiki. Ardy2 can be deleted.

Any help on this would be so appreciated. Thank you!!! Edgard (talk) 17:55, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

It looks like you've set $wgEmailConfirmToEdit to true, which provides an additional protection measure that those alternate accounts may not be able to override if they don't have confirmed e-mail addresses themselves as any edit user right they may have by being in the correct user group will not matter. Dmehus (talk) 18:04, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you! I will try that now. Edgard (talk) 22:13, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

I Also wanted to mention I do recommend using abuse filter most of the time when it comes to spam account's they do often get caught by abuse filter's I use it on my wiki and have had many spam accounts its a great tool I recommend! --Cocopuff2018 (talk) 19:51, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

There's a user making a bunch of gross and/or suggestive comments on a couple or more wikis.

Qualitypownder has been making all these disgusting comments, (in which I've had to remove) on both this wiki, and this wiki as well. I suspect that he may be behind this account to make the same type of inappropriate comments as well. Could you maybe have a look into these comment logs that I'm providing here? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:30, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

And please keep in mind that I can handle hiding the comments on my own. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:34, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
This has been handled now. -- Void Whispers 23:06, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

MarioMario456 That user has only made two or three comments on one wiki, as far as I can tell. We'd need to see linked diffs from both the suspected alternate and master accounts. that establish a similar behavioural pattern to Larryding Dmehus (talk) 16:02, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for providing those links. Looking through Larryding's comments, I see a lot of editorial comments on certain pages whereas on Mahtabmunsur6 made only two comments referring to user as "Satan's baby child." This doesn't show a sufficient behavioural link between the two users to warrant a CheckUser investigation pursuant to user accounts policy. Please monitor the user and advise if they make further edits on other pages which are substantially similar to Larryding's edits. Dmehus (talk) 16:12, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Global lock request for the following possible LTAs on chakuwiki.

After the first one was blocked for these edits on their contributions page, which apparently was suppressed by an admin for possible vandalism, the said user used an alt to evade that block. I don't know about you guys, but does this constitute a lock for the user since they're possibly abusing multiple accounts to evade blocks? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 17:08, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

    Update on Larryding

After some thorough investigation, I have found that Larryding has been abusing multiple accounts, because four total users have been accused of being Larryding sockpuppets.

    https://terribletvshows.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=&user=Masterblaster&page=&wpdate=&tagfilter=&wpfilters%5B0%5D=comments&wpfilters%5B1%5D=newusers&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop

I think you should run a CheckUser on these accounts, as this is proof that he is ban evading. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:05, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

Blubabluba9990 What local policies did Larryding violate that led to their being blocked on each wiki? Can you also link to a warning, whether on a talk page (ideal) or in an edit summary (somewhat less than ideal), again on each wiki, where the user was warned about contravening said policy prior to being locally blocked? Without that, I don't feel a lock would be appropriate given these circumstances, and you should instead properly warn and Larryding on exactly which policies they were violating and to appeal their local blocks via their user talk pages, which should be left open. Dmehus (talk) 23:38, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
There haven’t been any warnings, at least not to my knowledge.
I could try to talk to Larryding here about it. I am not an admin on any of those wikis so I am not in any position to give warnings though.
He is blocked as well as his suspected socks on those wikis, though he didn’t violate a policy on each wiki.
They also do not have talk page privileges on any wikis. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:46, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
If you should contact anyone about giving Larryding a warning, it would be an admin, preferably DecidiousWater234 since he is an admin on all of those wikis, at least I think so. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:47, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Well it looks like I was right, he was abusing multiple accounts and the accounts are now globally locked so case closed. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:44, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

I discovered that these accounts were created in September 2019. Are they hacked accounts? Run CheckUser, globally block the IPs and lock all the accounts. MarioMario456 (talk) 11:53, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
MarioMario456 Thank you for the clarification. This is certainly a first for me, as I've never seen spam only accounts sending private user board messages to legitimate users. Those are definitely spammy, albeit quite bizarre, messages. They appear to have been sent recently based on the timestamps, but since there's no edit or log actions produced, I'm not certain whether technical data would be available in the CheckUser tool. It would for the login, provided the user accounts didn't stay logged in since they were created. Do you recall the full user board messages you received and whether they included links to external webpages? Dmehus (talk) 14:51, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Yes, they contained external links. The accounts tried to use HTML instead of wikitext for the spam messages. MarioMario456 (talk) 15:46, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
MarioMario456 X mark.svg Too stale for CheckUser. Nevertheless, based on the above, I will Yes check.svg lock them as clear (and sneaky) spam only accounts. Dmehus (talk) 17:20, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Request for Dormancy Policy Exemption for Two personal wikis

I'd like to apply for a dormancy exemption policy for these two wikis, I've updated them a fair bit the past few months, they're updated infrequently due to drip feed in writings and content, not to mention technical difficulties with my current hardware, and after I can put all that i need on them they won't really be updated past that, I am the sole editor of the wiki and this is a personal project, it's a lot to get into but it's only for cataloging information that isn't updated very often. U1-GA Encyclopedia in particular is important for something but that's a bit personal.

    https://tanzanite.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

    https://u1ga.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

    JuleKing2921 (talk) 06:16, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

JuleKing2921 Thank you for your request for exemptions to Dormancy Policy for each of your tanzanitewiki and u1gawiki wikis, which I've now assessed. In terms of need, indeed as they are both the personal original character repositories and story/literature writing wikis for your and EarlGrey's fictional world(s), for which you are the sole contributing editor, this part is satisfied. In terms of content, though a number of pages were sub-stubs, it's obvious they will be more fully expanded later on, and you've already met our generally accepted minimum content requirements with the other expanded pages you'd already written together with the original artistic creations in your wikis' File: namespace. Thus, I've Yes check.svg granted you an indefinite exemption to Dormancy Policy as personal original character repositories and literature wikis of yourself and EarlGrey, for which you are the sole contributor, made to be read by real people. Please do advise us if you no longer require an exemption. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 06:57, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

    Redirecting Special:CreateAccount to Login Wiki

As suggested by Dmehus above at Requesting deletion of spambot accounts. I need some help to change the account creation on sdiy.miraheze.org (and simpleelectronics.miraheze.org). How do I redirect e.g. Synth DIY Wiki Special:CreateAccount to Login Wiki Special:CreateAccount or to some message linking to there, as well as once the account has been created to redirect the user back to the originating wiki? --Rob Kam (talk) 12:32, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Rob Kam Looking at these interface messages, it doesn't seem like there's an interface message that lets one define the page name location of Special:CreateAccount. Rather, you may be able to include a link to Loginwiki or to Meta Wiki to soft redirect users to those wikis to create an account (i.e., "To create a Miraheze global account, please visit this page." or something to that effect). Mainly, though, I would remove the createaccount user right from your * user group, allowing whichever registered user groups you want to create accounts on your wiki. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 14:40, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Removing the * user group's createaccount user right hides Special:CreateAccount. I've added an instruction on the home pages. --Rob Kam (talk) 17:57, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Rob Kam Oh, that's great that it hides the Special:CreateAccount user page automatically then. Dmehus (talk) 18:17, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Now I just need to find out how to change the user link in the header for anonymous users, fromLog in to Log in (or Create an account). --Rob Kam (talk) 20:51, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Rob Kam, you might consider enabling the RightFunctions parser function extension, which adds a parser function that allows you to check if a given user is in a given group and then display one of two messages. If they're anonymous, template #1 is displayed. If they're registered, template #2 is displayed. Dmehus (talk) 20:54, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
I don't think that's needed since anonymous users already get in the header Create account Log in. I just need to preface the link Special:CreateAccount with loginwiki:. I'm unsure whether it's possible. --Rob Kam (talk) 21:13, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I mean I see you created this interface message, but I'm not sure that lets you define more just the linked text, though I guess you could maybe try modifying it to include the interwiki wikilink. There's also MediaWiki:Createaccount. Let me try something on TestWiki. Dmehus (talk) 21:18, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Rob Kam Unfortunately, my test creation of MediaWiki:Createaccount on TestWiki was not successful. I don't think this would technically be possible to do with interface messages, at least not without a change to core MediaWiki upstream. You could create a JavaScript gadget in your wiki's common.js file that replaces these links with custom links; however, I do wonder whether we'd be defeating the whole purpose of this endeavour by creating an automated link for a spambot to create an account on Loginwiki. I think it would probably be best just to leave as is, and do as you've done by explaining to human editors on your wiki's main page to create an account on Loginwiki, then return to your wiki to edit. Dmehus (talk) 21:36, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Having to create and maintain a JavaScript gadget is getting more technical than I can easily manage. For now it will have to work as it is. --Rob Kam (talk) 22:01, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
Done (with help from Joritochip and others), although users will have to find their own way back from Login Wiki.
    mw.loader.using( [ 'mediawiki.user', 'mediawiki.util' ], function () {
      if ( mw.user.isAnon() ) {
        var newElement = mw.util.addPortletLink(
           'p-personal',
           'https://login.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:CreateAccount',
           'Create account',
           'pt-create',
           'Create an account to edit',
           null,
           '#pt-login'
        );
      }
    } );

    Request for permission fix

Hello! We were working on creating new roles that fit the administration of our team, but we messed up the bureaucrat role and removed its managewiki perms, basically locking us out of any changes. We need immediate help. Thank you.

Regarding a recent request for Global User Rename

Hello, I recently requested a global username for this account (using this account) via Special:GlobalRenameRequest, but I made a small mistake that I realize looking back to the username I requested. Could you please, instead of renaming this account to "TurtleWiki Bureaucrats, rename it to TurtleWiki Bureaucrat (without the "s" at the end)? Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. (Please ping my main account, Turtle84375, when replying to this) - Turtle84385 (talk) 20:04, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I can take care of that tonight or tomorrow when I process the above request. Dmehus (talk) 20:06, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
    Great, thanks! Turtle84375 (talk) 20:07, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Hi, I don't mean to be impatient or anything, but it's been a few days since your reply, so I just wanted to follow up with you on this rename request, since I see it hasn't happened yet. I understand that you are very busy, and there is no real rush for this rename, but this is just a friendly reminder. Thank you for all of your help here on Meta and globally! Turtle84375 (talk) 06:24, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 Apologies for the delay in the requested rename of Turtle84385 to TurtleWiki Bureaucrats, but this has now been Yes check.svg done. Dmehus (talk) 00:00, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Ah... thank you, sorry to make you go through the trouble of doing this... but I believe I asked above if you could remove the "s"? Again, I apologize for not putting that in the original request, and I looking back at the edits you had to do, it looks like a lot of work to globally rename a user, but would you mind if the "s" could be removed? If you really don't feel like doing that very minor change through such a tedious process, I totally understand, it's not too important, but I would like it done if possible. Turtle84375 (talk) 02:31, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 Ah, yes, that's right; however, as there is is no way for me to modify an existing an global rename request, I would've had to use Special:GlobalRenameUser rather than action your open request in Special:GlobalRenameQueue. Actually, though, now that I think about it some more, since you did mention you plan to use TurtleWiki Bureaucrats as a role account for all bureaucrats, collectively, on TurtleWiki, the plural version does actually sound more grammatically correct. You could also potentially register a separate alternate account, without the s as well, if you wanted. Let me know if you do think the plural version does actually sound better, based on that analysis, if you might like to register a second singular version, or if you'd still prefer for it to be renamed again. Dmehus (talk) 06:35, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Hm, now that you mention it, that does sound reasonable. I think I will keep it plural, in this case. Thanks for going through all of the trouble! Turtle84375 (talk) 06:49, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 Sounds good, and no problem. :) Dmehus (talk) 13:48, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

    Auditing of CheckUser actions

This is a very general question and is not aimed at any specific action, it was just something that came to my mind when I was reviewing logs. I am curious whether a process exist by which Stewards periodically review the private CheckUser log to make sure that none other Stewards are exceeding the scope of the CheckUser policy. If this does not presently exist, is it something that could be considered by the Stewards team? I think that the CheckUser tool is a very powerful one and that it should be made sure that it is not used too frequently or too lightly, as the policy says in order to not unnecessarily invade the privacy of users. --DeeM28 (talk) 14:36, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

I wanted (later) add thread to CN about addition of "checkuser-log" permission to global steward group to better control, so they don't need add myself CU permission purely for "audit".--MrJaroslavik (talk) 15:25, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
I think this could be an interesting idea, and while we're not the WMF of course, I checked and WMF Stewards also have the checkuser-log permission on a permanent basis, so I don't think it would be a bad idea to add that permission to Stewards here. Found a Username Policy Violation

I found that this user still exists with its current name, which I believe is either a Username Policy violation or it should be, given the obvious fact that it's inappropriate. Just though I should let a Steward know so they can warn the user and/or do a Global Rename. Turtle84375 (talk) 06:38, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for letting us know, I've locked the account. Reception123 (talk) (C) 10:54, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
I personally don't really see a Username Policy violation with D!ck in this case as "Dick" is a valid personal name (common short form for Richard). The user may be implying the vulgar slang for an appendage of male anatomy, or they may have just preferred to stylize their name in a unique way. If Dick were a registered user on Miraheze, I suppose you could make a Username Policy violation case on impersonation grounds, but it would be a bit weak, I think, as "Dick" is such a common name, so it'd really depend on the user's contributions. Dmehus (talk) 14:04, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus True, I overlooked that possibility. Looking at their edits, while one of them seems like it was reverted by the owner of a talk page, and the other is on their userpage (both in a different wiki), none of these are violations, I believe. Well, in that case, here's another one to lock, and this one, for Username Policy violation, as these are definitely vulgar. But does locking them even matter if they have no activity? Turtle84375 (talk) 17:59, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 Those could be locked, or at least warned first and invited to request a rename, then locked if no rename is done. However, your point is a very good one. There is little need to lock, as they haven't edited. The first account exists outside of Meta, so there could be more of a need there. In terms of hiding the usernames globally, I don't feel the usernames are so offensive to warrant global hiding. That is typically used for awful offensive usernames that target a Miraheze user or specific group of people. Dmehus (talk) 18:05, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Huh, interesting to know, there's "global hiding." It's ultimately up to you guys what is done with those accounts, the only purpose of this Steward noticeboard post was to point out a few accounts. If you don't think anything needs to be done, I'm fine with that. Turtle84375 (talk) 18:22, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Lock Ddxfx and a sock of said user

If you have a look at both Ddxfx2 and Ddxfx's edits on this wiki, it looks like blatant vandalism to me. The former is a sockpuppet of the latter, and while the latter is the sockmaster. Is it enough for a lock on both of those accounts? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:13, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

This would need a closer examination, as many of the user's edits were made on non-English free vandalism type wikis and may be locally permitted vandalism. Dmehus (talk) 14:15, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus So does that mean you're going to look at them now? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:16, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
I'll try and take a look later today. I have a number of other priorities to look after first. Dmehus (talk) 14:17, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

    B’crat right

I have requested a wiki named WikiGuide <link: guidewiki.miraheze.org> before. However, I deleted the usergroup “Founder” that I created carelessly. As that group contains all rights that I need to manage my wiki, can any steward re-add the B’crat and sysop right to me again locally? Or should I request it for adoption? Thank you.

    -- Matttest (talk) 04:29, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Matttest If you're the owner of the wiki, and it looks like you are, then a Steward should be able to restore your user rights. (Lol, I see what Dmehus meant when he said that this happens more than you would think, I've already seen 3 of these such requests, including my own). Turtle84375 (talk) 06:53, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

    Loathsome Characters Wiki (Alex's Version)

I'm so sick and tired of the overuses of Why He/She/They Suck(s) every single time. That's why I decided to make this same wiki, only that actually uses Why He's/She's/They're Loathsome and Why He's/She's/They're Loathsome nowadays, and not just Why He/She/They Suck(s), Bad Qualities, Why He/She/They Sucked, Why He/She/They Suck(s) In This Season, Why He/She/They Used To Suck and Why He/She/They Suck(s) Now. I like you to honor and redeem my wiki. You sent March 29 at 6:17 PM None of the others would except, so your the only one who can. You sent March 29 at 6:17 PM I'm begging you. You're allowed to add in the same characters on the first wiki to here, and the Great Characters Wiki on both Miraheze and Fandom are allowed to have Why He's/She's/They're Great on there which makes no sense on why you're forbidden to use Why He's/She's/They're Loathsome on that wiki which is still complete bull to this very day. @Alexkrzywicki1: Now that this section has been restored, I will relay the message I posted to you on the Discord #general channel here. Dmehus said that you are allowed to make a wiki that has a similar scope to the Loathsome Characters Wiki, however you cannot also use the name "Loathsome Characters Wiki", you will need to choose a different name. Additionally, the error that says "The database name may not contain non-alphanumeric characters." is because you included invalid characters in the "Wiki URL" field on Special:RequestWiki. You can only use the alphabet and numbers, no dashes, underscores, or other special characters. You can try re-creating your wiki request with that in mind. All The Tropes - request for Checkuser

We placed User:Xandermartin98 on an indefinite block on 2017-12-19. We have had two independent complaints that edits by User:InterestingPerson appear to be the same style and subject matter as those of User:Xandermartin98. We request a Checkuser on grounds of suspicion of ban evasion. --Robkelk (talk) 11:15, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Robkelk Firstly, please note that technical data available in the CheckUser tool is only retained for ninety (90) days, and that user does not appear to have edited globally on Miraheze since being blocked on your wiki. Second, can you point to a few of the most compelling diffs made by InterestingPerson that is likely related to Xandermartin98 by also linking to the best diffs from Xandermartin98? Finally, given the span of time, my preference would be for you to locally warn and/or block InterestingPerson in line with your wiki's local policies, and specifically point out to them user accounts policy, a global policy. If InterestingPerson then attempts to evade their block by creating new accounts, you can file a further report regarding likely contraventions of user accounts policy. Dmehus (talk) 13:53, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
The four specific edits made by InterestingPerson that prompted myself and one of our users to independently suspect the possibility of ban evasion are:
As for comparisons, I will dig through Xandermartin98's edit history to find something appropriate, but the issue is not so much repeated content as repeated themes and obsessions. In particular InterestingPerson's characterization of an obscure plot device which failed to pass muster as a trope -- originally proposed by Xandermartin98 and key to the particular fetishistic bent of his writing -- as "one of the most iconic tropes in Western Animation" struck us as uniquely and bizarrely echoing Xandermartin98's particular preoccupations. InterestingPerson has also demonstrated a similar focus as Xandermartin98 on specific characters from certain cartoons, such as Di Lung from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
We will in the mean time address this on a local level and look for behaviors that indicate that they are one and the same. Thank you for your time. -- Looney Toons (talk) 18:13, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Looney Toons Thank you for your follow-up regarding Robkelk's report. The last diff is perhaps the most compelling. I did also note this diff from New XanderMartin98. Unfortunately, that account seems to be abandoned. Nevertheless, taken together, it does suggest the user may be creating multiple accounts to edit on your wiki in contravention of user accounts policy. Dmehus (talk) 18:46, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Ah! I knew we had dealt with him more recently than 2017; I just didn't remember the "New" variant on his username. As it so happens, another ATT mod saw your reply overnight and by the time I checked this morning, InterestingPerson had already been banned as an evader/sockpuppet. Thank you again for your time and effort. -- Looney Toons (talk) 13:54, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
InterestingPerson has admitted to being Xandermartin98. Screencap here. Since he has admitted to using multiple accounts to bypass a community block, I leave it up to the Stewards to determine whether he is in violation of global policy. (As for his statement in that post that we refused to listen to him, we specifically asked him to communicate with us on at least one matter, with no reply. If he wants us to listen, he has to speak.) --Robkelk (talk) 23:24, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: In the last day or so, we've realized a few other new users -- all of whom registered their accounts within a couple weeks of InterestingPerson's registration -- stopped editing around the time that InterestingPerson was banned. Could we please get a CheckUser against User:InterestingPerson, User:Ogleguy2000, User:Cwf1997, and User:ChristianFrates97? Thank you. -- Looney Toons (talk) 12:20, 14 April 2021 (UTC) Looney Toons (talk) 12:20, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Looney Toons Thank you for the follow-up. I've looked through all the contributions for Ogleguy2000, and some of the contributions for the other two users; however, I'm not seeing any contributions to the pages where an InterestingPerson and Xandermartin98 previously edited, so I'm not satisfied that there's likely to be potential abuse of user accounts policy worthy of a CheckUser investigation. If you can link to specific diffs by one of the three users and either InterestingPerson or Xandermartin98, that would be helpful. In absence of that, I would say, just keep an eye on the edits, and do follow up if any of the users happens to edit in a significantly similar manner to InterestingPerson or Xandermartin98. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 19:35, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

    Leerdoman74......

For the past month or so, Leerdoman74 has been giving not only me, but MarioMario456 a lot of grief. And just yesterday, he suddenly attacked us over MarioMario456 doing an election on the atrociousgameplaywiki where he wanted to be a bureaucrat of that wiki. Have a look at his edits and pay close attention to the revisions where he made the personal attacks. Also, you should be well aware of his sockpuppet accounts like Leerdoman56, and Leerdoman64. I don't know what we should do about him, but this has gone out of hand, and I'm just getting tired of him sending personal attacks against anyone else. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:40, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

DarkMatterMan4500 Firstly, it is not against user accounts policy for Leerdoman74 to have multiple accounts, and in looking at Leerdoman56's and Leerdoman64's global contributions, I don't see a user accounts policy contravention, as they're not using those accounts to circumvent local blocks or other restrictions. Secondly, this seems like a multi-party dispute between you and MarioMario456, and Leerdoman74. As such, it is one that would require a detailed examination of all parties' behaviour in order to arrive at a mediated solution. Dmehus (talk) 14:49, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Oh. I mean, while it's true that it's permitted, but not for misuse, so what can we do about it though? :/ DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:51, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Why did you continuously revert the IP user's responses to your question posed? Dmehus (talk) 14:54, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Good question. It's mainly because of how rude the response was. I wanted this to end anyway, so maybe I could just stop right there. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:56, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, that would be a good idea. It's often best just not to respond in these sort of situations, and in fairness, you did ask the question. Dmehus (talk) 14:58, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: So what will happen at this moment? It appears the IP editor has admitted to being Leerdoman74 by rudely replying to me anyway, as he was locked just a few days ago. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 15:00, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

R4356th Community noticeboard is still the best venue for interwiki prefix additions on public or private wikis, whether handled by stewards or interwiki administrators, as interwiki administrators can offer to add interwiki prefixes on private wikis if they're temporarily granted the member user group. In this case, I don't think it's a big deal that it was moved to stewards' noticeboard, so it can probably stay here, but feel free to move it back to community noticeboard if you prefer. delete wiki

Hi, Is it possible to delete the wiki at https://blendoc.miraheze.org I found another solution. Thanks Hugo Schouppe Hugsch (talk) 09:55, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Hugsch Though normally wikis are eventually deleted per Dormancy Policy where there is no activity on them after more than 180 days, as you are the sole contributor to this wiki and have requested deletion, I have Yes check.svg deleted your wiki for you per this request. Please consider Miraheze for other wiki needs in the future. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 13:58, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Wretched YouTube Videos Wiki needs to shut down

This wiki has a lot of Content Policy violations as well as articles copied and pasted from the (now closed and private) Atrocious YouTubers Wiki and Horrible Vyonders Wiki, as well as the (still available) Rotten Websites Wiki and Terrible TV Shows Wiki. Proof. A lot of these articles are unsources. MarioMario456 (talk) 14:46, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your report. This has already been reported in #miraheze-cvt connect. I do have some concerns regarding the wiki, but it may not be so much as to necessitate deletion. I've proposed a few possible solutions to other Stewards, and am just waiting to hear back from them. Dmehus (talk) 14:51, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Not sure if this matters at all, but the wiki copied and pasted a page that I created for Rotten Websites Wiki without asking me and I got a rude private message from one of the admins (not a threat, but still mean-spirited) after reporting the page for plagiarism from my own page. I think something needs to be done, but not a deletion. ChessPiece21 (talk) 13:37, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

    concordance.miraheze.org auto-inactive exemption request

Could you please disable auto-inactive/close on concordance.miraheze.org, for D&D group that's inactive due to COVID. It's still used for reference. CariTheKitty (talk) 04:32, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

CariTheKitty Thank you for your request for an exemption to Dormancy Policy for your concordancewiki, which I've now assessed. In terms of need, this is easily met, in my view, as you are the only recently active contributor to the wiki and the contributor who has made more than 97% of all editing contributions to the wiki. In terms of your wiki's content, while it's a bit light in terms of number of content pages (i.e., quantity), you do have a number of what appear to be original character and artwork creations that would be potentially devastating if lost. As well, in terms of quality or depth of content, a number of your content pages are quite long, some of which are very long (i.e., the byte size of page(s)). So, given that, I'm going to Yes check.svg grant your request for an exemption to Dormancy Policy as indefinitely as a fictional worldbuilding and presumed original character/artwork repository wiki with few recently active contributors and content that is meant to be read by real people. Please do be advised that this exemption is not permanent but rather indefinite, so should your needs change or you no longer require this exemption, please let us know at this noticeboard. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 21:52, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Dormancy Exemption Request for Shadowrun TTRPG Gaming Server

    Good evening,

I am one of the co-admins of a Shadowrun 5th edition LC (essentially a gathering of players that play together on a single server, under the same ruleset and in a persistent world). We have been using Miraheze for a while to gather all the resources that we use for our gaming, however, we are mostly based on Discord.

Due to being mostly off-site, and only using the wiki as consultation, and due to Shadowrun's age and the fact that we have mostly squared out most of the changes we would like to make to the ruleset for the foreseeable future, we have not been editing and adding new things to the wiki regularly. Even then, Miraheze has been quite nice for us, as a place to focus our reading, since it can be quite daunting for new and old players to find every rule out there, and we'd like to avoid using something slower and less universally accessible as Google Sheets.

For this reason, I would like to request the exemption of our wiki at Neon Jungle Living Community Wiki, given that although we do use the wiki, it is mostly for consultation, and not many edits are happening regularly enough to prevent in full the Dormancy Policy from striking through sheer activity. ArisuSensei (talk) 23:13, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

ArisuSensei Thank you for your request for an exemption to Dormancy Policy for your neonjunglelcwiki, which I've now assessed. In terms of content, I do find that your wiki has a fairly extensive set of content pages related to your gaming community, which contains your written prose, rules, and other resources. In terms of need, with only three editors on the wiki, each of whom edit it sporadically and somewhat infrequently, this is also met. Moreover, and perhaps most crucially, much of your content is fairly complete and used as a resource, so there's even less need for regular editing and activity than perhaps there was before. Thus, I'm going to Yes check.svg grant this exemption indefinitely as a resource for your gaming community which is infrequently edited. Please be advised that this is an indefinite, and not permanent exemption, so should your wiki's activity change such that you no longer require an exemption, please do let us know via this noticeboard. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 00:45, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, Dmehus! I'll definitely let you know, in case we don't need the exemption anymore. ArisuSensei (talk) 11:56, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

About copyright infringement and spoofing on kerokerowikiwwiki

I don't know where to report it, so I write it here. "kerokerowikiw" is a blatant piracy. The main page is from Chakuwiki and the logo is from Japanese Wikipedia. Also, all posted articles are copied from content on other wikis such as Wikipedia (For example, "2019年コロナウイルス感染症による社会・経済的影響", original), Uncyclopedia (For example, "この人痴漢です!", original), Chakuwiki (For example, "もしあの水生生物が存在しなかったら", original), and Tanukipedia (For example, "Tanukipedia:Tanukipediaについて", original). And, the administrator of this wiki, "ネイ", is impersonating the administrator of Japanese Wikipedia. I hope this wiki will be closed soon. SchwarzTalk / ウソペディア 12:52, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

    Similarly, User:Minorax also seems to be impersonating a Wikipedia user.--SchwarzTalk / ウソペディア 11:21, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

シュヴァルツ I've had a look into your report yesterday, and it was exactly how you described it. I have noted this on the #miraheze-cvt connect channel yesterday. I hope someone will look into your report soon enough, though. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 15:19, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
This will need a thorough review, in order to assess whether any infringement was made in good-faith or not and whether remediation, as a private, locked wiki, would be possible. That being said, the potential impersonation concerns do concern me as well, so I'm going to approach that aspect of this report first. Dmehus (talk) 15:24, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

After making this request, the wiki was kept private. I don't know the situation because I can't look inside. What's going on with that wiki now?--SchwarzTalk / ウソペディア 04:00, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

シュヴァルツ For starters, the requesting wiki bureaucrat was indeed globally locked for contravening the user accounts policy by operating multiple accounts in a manner contrary to the policy by deliberately attempting to impersonate multiple Wikimedia Global Sysops and administrators through their sockpuppet accounts. In terms of the wiki, while I've not examined the full wiki, it appears to be more or less a strange testing wiki, testing imports of pages from various Wikimedia wikis, with little to no editing done to the pages. The imports themselves appear to have been done in ostensibly good-faith, though they should've provided appropriate attribution to the source wikis in some cases. Thus, I've locked the wiki, preventing changes from being made in Special:ManageWiki, and made it private pending feedback from existing Stewards. As all wiki bureaucrats and administrators are now locked as sockpuppet impersonation accounts of the original requesting bureaucrat, the wiki should naturally be deleted within a few months per Dormancy Policy. If I hear back from other Stewards on whether accelerated deletion is preferred, that will be done. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 11:47, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the detailed explanation. If something similar happens on another wiki in the future, I'll ask again. SchwarzTalk / ウソペディア 11:59, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Crowbar I'm sorry to hear that. I'll urge you to reconsider, as I'm not certain why DarkMatterMan4500 and DeciduousWater534 have suspected you to be related to Willg8686, as I'm personally not seeing the relation based on my quick look so far. It would displease me if their suspicions are indeed incorrect. Dmehus (talk) 17:12, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Ill reconsider as long as they don't falsely ban me, I spent a bunch of time on these wikis. And they might delete my work, I am scared... Crowbar (talk) 17:14, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Also they use the sockpuppet term incorrectly, instead of just saying alternative account. Crowbar (talk) 17:16, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Crowbar Do you have any alternate/alternative accounts, though? If so, which prior username(s) have you used? Dmehus (talk) 17:20, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
No I don't, I only used this account only Crowbar (talk) 17:23, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

We started to suspect that he is a sockpuppet because we know that Willg (WG8686) is a known fan of WWE, and Crowbar asked why a page about one of their games was deleted. This arouses three questions: How does he know the page's creator was blocked for sockpuppeting? How does he know about the page getting deleted? And how does he know what the page looked like prior to deletion? --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 17:22, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Being a fan of something is not a valid reason of accusing me of being a user I don't even know... It's like Smallafro Games being a fan of WWE, and you guys accuse him of being a user he doesn't know. Crowbar (talk) 17:24, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Also can you use the term alternative accounts instead of sockpuppeting, it's often misused. Crowbar (talk) 17:25, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
DeciduousWater534 Face-smile.svg Thank you for that. Good questions, and good diff. While Crowbar could know that the page was deleted and who created it from the page creation and deletion logs, your point is a good one in that they would not have access to view the content of the page. Crowbar, how did you know what the content of the page was, and why it was deleted? Dmehus (talk) 17:26, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
I remembered being a guest (having no miraheze account) and checked out pages before I made a account on here. I usually read pages on Reception Wikis can I can learn how to make pages like those. Crowbar (talk) 17:28, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
And I checked out the page way before it was deleted. Crowbar (talk) 17:29, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

I advise doing a CheckUser, I have a feeling this discussion is going to go nowhere without one. --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 17:36, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Its obviously not going to show up as multiple accounts, since my account is newer than that user... Crowbar (talk) 17:38, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
And not to be mean, DeciduousWater. You are kinda a hypocrite there, since you falsely ban me without checking me first... Crowbar (talk) 17:39, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus is doing the CheckUser right now, let's just wait and see what he has to say when he's done. --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 17:41, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Keep in mind, I am using a public internet connection. So it may be wrong. Crowbar (talk) 17:42, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I have some suspicions about Crowbar. Usually when WillG makes a sockpuppet, he usually edits the Plotagon page on Rotten Websites Wiki (1 2 3 4 5 6 7). Whenever he gets accused of sockpuppeting, he plays the victim and keeps saying we have different IPs, like he did when he used IvanTheGreat and Zangoose. When he realizes he is about to get locked for abuse of accounts, he requests his account to get locked so it won't look like he's a sockpuppet in the Global Account logs like he's doing right now. There's a lot more evidence but that would take forever, so I put the most important evidence. I think Crowbar is WillG. InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:07, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Crowbar Your account has now been Yes check.svg locked for abusing multiple accounts in contravention of user accounts policy. You would've done yourself well to not engage in a deliberate act of deception. If you do wish to rejoin Miraheze, I'd strongly recommend you wait at least six months, then e-mail Stewards to discuss an appeal of your originally locked account and how you plan to edit on Miraheze, that you will use only one account, and that you will appeal any in-force local blocks through the proper channel(s). Dmehus (talk) 18:07, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
I also don't know if this evidence is true, but he seems to get blocked weeks after he creates his account, so he probably has an account that isn't locked yet. InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:12, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh yeah, more evidence: A new user is unlikely to automatically create accounts on Atrocious YTbers Wiki, TF&HW, and Unfavorable Wikis and Users Wiki because those wikis have been locked and closed months ago, and most wikilinks have been removed by now. WillG was directly responsible for the drama caused there, so it would make sense that he would visit those wikis, because he remembers them and contributed to them. Know what I mean? InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:17, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
*sigh* More evidence. When a user creates a new account, he is most likely, unless he is used to editing MW sites; does not know meta, or how to use colons as indents, or other MW markup. When I first created my account, I barely knew how to use the source editor and markup. Crowbar obviously knew how to use markup here, which is undoubtly fishy. InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:24, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
The reason I know all this is that between the time my sockpuppet AppleCrunchy got locked (sorry) to when I got my account back, I was watching Meta the whole time anonymously. I saw reports, account locks, RFcS, RFPS, etc. InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:28, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I don't know if we should mention Tyson2002, in which I'm surprised hasn't been locked mainly due to how obvious that it was a sock of WG8686, and also vandalized an article on himself using that said account. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 18:33, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

@DarkMatterMan4500: Seems like a sock I guess. Also please protect Plotagon page on RWW because WG8686 edits it too much. InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:36, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

    Locked out of my wiki...

That awkward moment when you forget about that "joke" Abuse Filter that you made a while back, and then you go to make an edit with the word "tortoise" in it, and the filter strips you of all of your permissions, including bureaucrat, and then blocks you indefinitely after removing your autoconfirmed status... looks like I made it a little too over-powered. It's a private wiki too, nobody else has bureaucrat there, and my alt account's administrator privileges don't have block/unblock abilities. Strange, the filter didn't work like it was supposed to, it was supposed to not affect me. Anyway, could someone please restore my bureaucrat status on TurtleWiki? Thanks! As well, I'm not sure if it will be possible for you to regain your autoconfirmed implicit user group (though I suspect probably not, or not easily anyway). Dmehus (talk) 00:43, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Filter disabled, further crises averted, phew! It's actually easy to restore implicit autoconfirmed, in the Abuse Filter management, under the "Debugging tools" tab, there's an option at the bottom of the page to "restore autoconfirmed" for specific users. I'll try not to kick myself out again :) Turtle84375 (talk) 00:49, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 Oh that's interesting that the autoconfirmed user group can be restored through the AbuseFilter's "debugging tools," as I thought I'd read, or perhaps another Consul on TestWiki told me, that it could not be restored. Anyway, yeah, in your case, because you were blocked on a private wiki to which no one else held local rights, only Stewards could unblock you. Dmehus (talk) 01:15, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus I alternatively could have unblocked myself with the bureaucrat rights (they allow "unblock self"), I just needed someone to restore them for me :) Thanks for doing that, though! Turtle84375 (talk) 04:03, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

    Blog posts repeating themselves

On the Awesome Games Wiki, whenever I try to post a blog post, I write a title and post the page, only to be given an error that a page of that name already exists. I keep trying to post it, changing the name, but I'm still given the error message. Eventually, I give up and come back to the "New Blog Posts" section to find all of the times I tried to post a page with the different titles show up, despite being told I can't use the title. Dormancy policy exemption

    Hi!

I would like to request for a permanent dormancy policy exemption for waldenses.miraheze.org as I do not expect anyone to edit it as much (even at all). It covers a topic that has received little attention for centuries, and that wiki serves as one of a few pockets of the Waldenses. I intend to include the entirety of the English translation of La Nobla Leyczon and maybe some background about Peter Waldo and the tradition’s history leading to the modern age, but I don’t see myself editing the wiki beyond that or even writing all of that one after another so there may be no edits for months on end.

I hope my request gets accepted. Thank you. Poor Man (talk) 18:43, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Poor Man Thank you for your request for an exemption to Dormancy Policy for your waldenseswiki, which I've now assessed. Indeed, you, Nyl, and Matttest have provided all of the contributions to the wiki, so the wiki is indeed edited by few editors and, as you say, when it's complete, will not require frequent editing. Thus, in terms of that aspect, I do see a need for an indefinite exemption to Dormancy Policy. However, it is only six (6) pages, each of which are not particularly long. This in and of itself is not necessarily a problem, as there can always be exception cases. You do note that you plan to include the "entirety of the English translation of La Nobla Leyczon" and "maybe some background Peter Waldo and the tradition's history leading to the modern age," would you be able to complete at least the entirety of the English translation and the background page(s) about Peter Waldo first, then re-request this exemption? Also, separately from this exemption request, the concern I have is that I noticed you have revision deleted the contributions other contributor(s) to this wiki, and it's unclear why as there are no log summaries stating the reason. While I do see your wiki's content is in the public domain, that doesn't necessarily mean that users' contributions have to be hidden. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 19:01, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
@Nyl is a friend but due to that alias being used in other instances as well we decided to just hide his edit history in wikis which he has started but I have picked up. I don’t wish to go into details but he should be able to explain it further if need be.
Thank you for your response. I’ll try to finish the aforementioned pages, but all in all they would probably number no more than 20 or 30 pages as the text I mentioned is quite short and the only tangible piece of early Waldensian literature that we have. Poor Man (talk) 19:35, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Poor Man Ah, okay, that's fine then regarding the reason for the revision deletion of Nyl's contributions. If they requested it, that's totally fine. I just wanted to make sure that, say, if I helped by contributing to that wiki, my contributions wouldn't be revision deleted (unless I requested it, of course). 20-30 pages would be fine. So what I will say is this, when you have about 20-30 pages, just come back here and either add to this thread (if it's not been archived) or start a new thread (if it has been). More spambots to globally lock

All of these ones are spam-bots, including those 6 user accounts that I've actively blocked on the Crappy Games Wiki, and if you look at all 6 of their user pages, it's obvious that the spam-bots are repeating the same thing by using external links. So, feel free to lock them at any time. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 12:35, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

And another spambot to add to this list. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 10:40, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

    Delete my wiki please

Hi, I started a wiki recently but am now in very poor health. I won't be able to work on it as planned for quite some time and have my content saved for when I will be able to. Can you please close my wiki? (tiltedcerebrum.miraheze.org). Thank you!
     TiltedCerebrum (talk) 01:37, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

TiltedCerebrum I'm terribly sorry to hear about the change in your health, and hope things improve for you. Before I process your wiki deletion request, have you exported backups of your wiki's XML and image files using Special:DataDump? Dmehus (talk) 01:41, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Dmehus, yes I have. Thanks for deleting, I most likely will be back when things level out again :)
    TiltedCerebrum (talk) 15:21, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
TiltedCerebrum No problem, though I hadn't actually deleted it yet as I was waiting for your confirmation that you have all the exports of your wiki. Per your above request's stated reasoning, I have now Yes check.svg deleted your personal wiki to which only you have contributed. Best wishes for an improvement to your health condition, and look forward to having you back here soon! :) Dmehus (talk) 15:45, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

    Can someone lock my account?

I want to leave Miraheze because someone was harassing me over a fanmade TV channel. I seriously don't want to talk about the backstory so I just want to lock it and that's all. Fomantisboy35 (talk) 05:15, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Fomantisboy35 Firstly, harassment isn't acceptable, so this is of interest to Stewards to investigate. If you'd prefer to share concerns privately, please e-mail stewards(at)miraheze.org, by privately identifying the parties involved, timelines of harassment, permalinks to relevant diffs, and background on your complaint. Secondly, regarding your request for a lock, to ensure that this is something with which you wish to proceed, please confirm by way of a reply to this thread that this is the course of action you wish to take, and it will be honoured. Dmehus (talk) 13:34, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I would like to proceed. Fomantisboy35 (talk) 16:19, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
Fomantisboy35 Very well, we're sorry to see you go. Should you wish to return to Miraheze, you can either (a) e-mail Stewards to request an unlock or (b) create a new account, taking care to not edit on any wikis where Fomantisboy35 was still blocked. Dmehus (talk) 16:39, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

    InputBox

Can you add the InputBox extension to mywikipedia.miraheze.org? Iron Sword 22 (talk) 18:18, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Iron Sword 22 You should be able to enable this in Special:ManageWiki/extensions on your wiki as, to my knowledge, it requires no special permissions. It's under the "parser hooks" tab. I do agree, rather strongly, that extensions are not organized in the best manner, and a single alphabetically arranged Special:ManageWiki/extensions was easier to find an extension. Is it possible for you to globally block my account?

Hello. I thought really long and hard about this, but I've finally made my decision. I don't want this account anymore. I don't wanna be associated with the reception wikis anymore. I know theres more to here then the reception wikis, but thats mostly what its known for. I don't like this place, and I wanna focus on other things. Theres a bunch of pointless vendetta here anyways. So, please, since there isn't an option to delete an account, I would like my account to be globally blocked. Anonymy (talk) 14:36, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Anonymy I do agree with some of the sentiments expressed regarding the Reception/Qualitipedia wikis. We're sorry to see you leave, but this is Yes check.svg done per your request. If you ever do wish to return, feel free to e-mail stewards(at)miraheze.org to request an unlock, or just create a new account, following user accounts policy of course, and create a new identity to focus on wikis other than the Reception/Qualitipedia wikis. Hoole History & Heritage Society: Exemption from Dormancy Policy

    Hi,

Our wiki http://hoolehistoryheritagesociety.miraheze.org/ has now been migrated from our old site. As such, we may not be updating information as frequently going forward. The society intends to contribute new articles approximately monthly, however, due to the small number of members, limited resources and potential for the unforeseen, this may not happen reliably, as such a single missed article could arguably put us in jeopardy of breaching the 60 day rule. We would therefore appreciate it if we could be exempt from the dormancy policy or the timeframes be increased significantly in our case.

Many thanks for your previous assistance,

Michael & Peter. HooleHistory (talk) 23:12, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Michael & Peter, thank you for your request for an exemption to Dormancy Policy for your hoolehistoryheritagesocietywiki wiki and for moving it to stewards' noticeboard, which you originally requested on Phabricator in #T7220. I have now assessed your request. In terms of need, as both the only contributor to your heritage society's organization coordination wiki, at least as far as the Miraheze version is concerned, and because your wiki is both (a) complete or nearly complete and (b) a historical archive for the social, genealogical, and cultural elements of the Hoole geographic area of the United Kingdom, this is easily met. In terms of sufficient content intended to be read and, in this case, preserved, with nearly 200 content pages in your wiki's (Main) namespace together with nearly as many media files in your wiki's File: namespace, this, too, is easily met. Thus, I'm Yes check.svg granting your wiki the requested exemption indefinitely as such. Please note that this is an indefinite exemption, not a permanent exemption, and should your needs change or your wiki no longer requires it, please do let us know via this noticeboard. Face-smile.svg Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 04:43, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
A minor correction, though, to clarify a potential misunderstanding re: Dormancy Policy, though. Note that wikis are not deleted per Dormancy Policy after 60 days. Rather, they're merely closed, but can be reopened at any time up to a further 135 days from the time of closure by any bureaucrat or by a Steward following a request at Requests for adoption. Nonetheless, as an exempted wiki, this will not apply to your wiki, but I did want to clarify this. Dmehus (talk) 04:45, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

    Name change

Hi, I sent a request to change my username from EijiZeBoi to EijiDoesThings. I'd like you to cancel that request as I actually like the username I have now and don't want to change it.

Thank u, next, Eiji (talk) 02:45, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

Eiji Face-smile.svg Thank you for reaching out. I was actually about to reach out to you regarding your recent global rename request, as the proposed rename was quite a minor change and I did note you've had quite a few global renames in the past year or so, usually with each with some variation of "Eiji." I also noticed that after some of your prior renames, either you registered alternate accounts or someone else registered impersonation accounts on your old usernames. Plus, you do have nearly 15,000 global edits, so that does make multiple global renames problematic. At any rate, I'm glad that you have decided to cancel your global rename request, as what I was going to suggest to you instead is to register EijiDoesThings, or some other similar username, as an alternate account. As long as you don't use your alternate account in a deceptive manner or on wikis where your main account is currently locally blocked, there's nothing wrong with that. As a recommended practice, you can also list any alternate accounts you own on either your Meta user page or your global user page. Dmehus (talk) 04:17, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
