Dormancy Exemption Request

Hello, I'm the bureaucrat for the Blade XLord Wiki. The game Blade XLord (English server) has announced its shutdown on September 30, 2020. Since there will be no more English content updates, the Wiki will also no longer receive any updates moving forward. However, since there are no other readily available English guides/sources for the game, some of the guides may still be useful for those who are shifting to the Japanese server. Because of this, I would still like to request the Wiki be exempt from the dormancy policy for archival purposes if possible. --Elaeagnifolia (talk) 08:36, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

  •  Strongest support All the best. ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) 10:28, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
  •  Comment: I have not looked through the content of this wiki, but you mentioned this wiki has a Japanese version that will be updated. It would be relatively straightforward (a Phabricator request) to merge this wiki's content into one or more new namespaces on the Japanese language wiki. We also need to consider that someone else may wish to adopt this English language wiki in accordance with Dormancy Policy, allowing it to stay independent of the Japanese wiki and continue to be maintained and updated. We should be mindful of the implications before rushing in to granting inactivity exemptions, so as not to "front run" our existing policies (chiefly Dormancy Policy). If, however, there were no requests to adopt it at Requests for adoption, then I think we'd, potentially, have a stronger case for an exemption here (with the caveat that I've yet to assess its content on that basis). Until that process has played out, I can neither support nor oppose this request as described and discussed. Dmehus (talk) 14:37, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
To clarify, there is a Japanese version of the game, and there are Japanese informational sites available for the game (eg. blogs, game guide/database sites owned by commercial entities), but there is no Japanese Wiki in the sense of having an open, community-editable resource where I could add the info I've datamined from the game assets (Information not available on any of the sites, English or Japanese, that I've come across). While I wouldn't be adverse to the Wiki being adopted, I believe the chance is slim as I've been pretty much the only active editor for the past 2-3 months. If I knew anyone that was interested in continuing to maintain the Wiki, then I would've gladly handed over the reins of the Wiki to them instead of putting the Wiki into a permanent archival state, but unfortunately, I don't know anyone willing. What I do know though is that there is a subset of English players moving to the Japanese server, and I believe the English-written guides and datamined information would still be beneficial to that group of people. Hope that provides more insight into the situation! --Elaeagnifolia (talk) 22:41, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
@Elaeagnifolia: Thank you very much for that expanded detail and clarification to your Dormancy Policy exemption request. I know stewards have discretion here and this isn't something on which we !vote as a community, but I particularly like that you would be interested in handing it over to someone else, if they were willing to keep it current and actively maintain it. Given that, if stewards were to grant you an exemption request, would be supportive of the idea of someone potentially adopting it in the future if the person(s) can show, to steward satisfaction, that the requestor(s) can demonstrate that they have both the (a) knowledge and (b) commitment level in order to reinvigorate the wiki? The wiki would, notionally, thus be exempt from deletion due to inactivity, while at the same time, not making it exempt from adoption to qualified adopters. Functionally, a steward could note, presumably via a footnote next to your wiki's listing in the Dormancy Policy exceptions listing this caveat, linking to to the permalink or diff of the revision of this request at closing. Dmehus (talk) 23:16, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
  • I'd like to point out that dormancy policy exemptions don't necessarily require voting and are usually decided by a Steward. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:53, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Reception123: Yes, that is a good point, too. Since arguments were expressed by the requestor, I just felt compelled to point out the reason(s) by which a steward may wish to not grant this exemption request. Though you've replied to my comment, I don't necessarily think it was directed towards me, though, since I'm not the one who merely !voted. I think my point about this potentially circumventing Dormancy Policy by trying to shut down a wiki and put it into a permanent archival state, without other users' being given a chance to maintain the wiki from a technical/maintenance point of view as well as from the perspective of content currency is particularly compelling. Please Lock this troll

ETWGdbfnjkmazrTh Is a troll user who made a nonsense wiki request in the farmer log.㊗️⚽️Μπέλα2006⚽️㊗️ (talk) 19:17, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Comment: @Μπέλα2006: Yeah, they did make a wiki request that was invalid. However, at this time, it appears that they do not need to be locked, as they have made no contributons on any wiki, and they have not tripped the abuse filter. They have not done anything since I warned them on there talk page. If anything changes me or another user here will let you know, and a steward will look at the request and determine if they need to be locked. Thanks! --TFFfan (talk) 19:22, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

It's only one log action on one wiki, but with a random username like that, the probability of this user being either (a) a vandalism-only account or (b) a sockpuppet of an LTA is high. Dmehus (talk) 19:48, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Yeah exactly.㊗️⚽️Μπέλα2006⚽️㊗️ (talk) 19:55, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
Update: ETWGdbfnjkmazrTh has been  locally blocked by RhinosF1. This should be sufficient, since Special:CreateWiki is not available on other Miraheze wikis. If the disruption continues, a steward can follow up. 21:23, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

(reset indent) I would recommend that users stop voting (support/oppose) on lock requests. They are not an election or a competition. If a Global Sysop or Steward thinks it is necessary they will lock the user but there is absolutely no need to vote on it, and user votes on these matters will not be taken into account. This user only having vandalised Meta, I do not see the need for a lock at this time. If there is any cross-wiki vandalism this may be reconsidered. Reception123 (talk) (C) 06:10, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

I'm going to leave this for now. It was only two requests spaced several minutes apart. If they do the exact same thing after the local block expires then I suggest immediately reblocking and would recommend a lock at that time. -- Cheers, NDKilla ( TalkContribs ) 11:28, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

I can't do visual editing

I always get an error message. Is it possible to reinstate visual editing?

Trevor807 (talk) 18:20, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

@Trevor807: On your wiki, or on Meta? In any case, community portal is the best place to ask these sort of questions. Having said that and assuming you meant on Meta, that is a long-standing, undesirable configuration issue, and I'm in the process of putting together a Phabricator request and, where required, a community discussion to fix this. In the mean time, if you have your preferences set globally, go to Special:Preferences, and disable "visual editor" (only 4-5 people have it active, very likely because of this configuration issue). When I have established the Phabricator ticket and, where required, community discussion, I'll {{ping}} you to express a view, if you wish. Dmehus (talk) 19:02, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Comment: Electowiki's configuration of VisualEditor and New Wikitext Editor seems to be the only Miraheze wiki on which I've never encountered this error. We should mirror that configuration globally, particularly on Meta. I believe the problem is when VisualEditor is disabled in some namespaces, since New Wikitext Editor is set to false (per the default configuration instructions on MediaWiki), it's not separately enabled. How the Wikimedia-owned and -operated wikis do it is they have some wikis where VE is enabled everywhere and some where it's enabled only in certain namespaces. In all wikis, though, New Wikitext Editor is enabled. Pinging @Reception123:. Dmehus (talk) 15:42, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Oversighter request on scpwikimc.miraheze.org

I want oversight access on only [scpwikimc.miraheze.org This site] for these uses:

Obvious ones

  • To redact personal information
  • removal of standard copyright infringement
  • removal of explicit adult content
  • Suppress usernames which is unacceptable
  • Removal of personal attacks pointed towards normal admins and moderators(have the browse archive flag)

Not obvious ones

  • To hide blatant vandalism
  • To remove misunderstanding causing information which has proven ineffective with RevDel.
  • Removal of derivative work of content licensed under CC-**-ND-** X.X license. ( ND prohibits derivative work)

@Void, 開拓者, John, and NDKilla:

The reason for requesting is that I would like to speedily remove all information like that whenever I can see them, and not to wait another few days for the results to come out, since there might be articles like SCP-166 or SCP-053 and Montok-110 which I would like to closely monitor and speedily suppress problematic content since SCP-166 or others like it if miswritten or misstructured can constitute as extremely unacceptable content such as pornographic and extremely violent content which should be suppressed immediately. If the members of the community want a vetting oversighter I will post another request up here as well.

Comments

This site is based on an idea at bilibili and its editors sometimes make mistakes that may make mistakes that caused confusion and someone accused me of hosting a cult website (see the deleted 2 revisions of the main page), although these edits are not done by me. ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) at 01:00, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

@ThesenatorO5-2: With regard to the fourth reason for requesting Oversight, revisions do not need to be suppressed to maintain CreativeCommons copyright compliance. These can be revision deleted. Regardings the fifth reason, you can revision delete these, and link to the revisions in your request for oversight to stewards(at)miraheze.org. Reason # 2 only requires revision deletion. The only real valid reason for requesting Oversight permissions on your wiki would be the first reason, but you haven't articulated a clear need to be able to do this yourself (that is, you can request oversighting by e-mailing stewards(at)miraheze.org), so I'm going to go out (on not very much of a limb) and say this is likely to close as not done. Dmehus (talk) 01:40, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I also added some possible reasons. Things like SCP-166 may exist since my wiki is hosting derivative works of the SCP wiki hosted elsewhere, and CC-ND is prohibiting derivatives. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThesenatorO5-2 (talkcontribs) 03:32, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@ThesenatorO5-2: Thanks for adding the additional "reasons." I get, and like, that you are trying to help ensure rights-holders' rights are protected with respect to no derivative works, but I feel compelled to point out that, as long as you have done what you can by revision deleting rights' infringing content, you cannot possibly be held liable for any subsequent forks of that content over which you have no control. That becomes that rights-holder's responsibility, entirely, to decide whether, and to what extent, to protecting their content. If you wanted, you could add a template notice to all your pages on your wiki or even just a general disclaimer that your wiki isn't responsible for authorized or unauthorized forks of content that may have, at one time, be hosted on your wiki, but, as far as I'm aware, this is not specifically required. Dmehus (talk) 14:11, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
I guess I better move an RfC on a proper local oversight/CheckUser granting policy further up the list. FWIW, unilateral granting won't be allowed. It'll need support equal to that to gain Steward. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 14:14, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@RhinosF1: Exactly that. I can see, potentially, the need for a local oversight (moreso than local CheckUser, though), but regardless of the number of "supports" or "opposes" one is given, there's got to be a clear need, and I'm not seeing it here. To what extent has @ThesenatorO5-2: even tried requesting oversight, linking to the revision deletions, by e-mailing the stewards? Based on my conversations with you and others, Miraheze is more liberal than Wikimedia when it comes to requests for revision suppression from either (a) the requesting individual or (b) the local wiki. Other than the obvious vandalism, most of those reasons are good reasons for oversighting, but @ThesenatorO5-2: needs to realize that CheckUser and Oversight are two user rights that are not simply going to be granted on the basis of a wiki vote with little to no rationale. There's got to be a need, and that hasn't been demonstrated here. Plus, then there's the formality of any successful applicant having to file, confidentially, personal identity documents with Miraheze, and signing agreements related to non-disclosure and misuse. Dmehus (talk) 14:24, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: How to sign that document? ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) at 23:32, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@ThesenatorO5-2: It doesn't exist yet, as far as I'm aware, as there has never been a local Oversight user right grant. I was just speaking hypothetically with @RhinosF1: about what would need to happen in terms of any potential future non-steward local Oversight appointment. Firstly, though, we'd need to draft an RfC, put forward the RfC to the community, and have the RfC be implemented in consultation with Miraheze Staff (and, perhaps, the board). Even after all of that would be done, only then could we start drafting such documents and implementing this. More simply, this isn't likely to happen in less than, and probably more like six months. If you have revisions you want oversighted, e-mail them, in a list (you could attach them in a text file if you wanted), to stewards(at)miraheze.org, with your reason(s) for the suppression, and I'm sure stewards will action them accordingly. Dmehus (talk) 23:43, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@RhinosF1: Although you said that local CU and OS should have the trust of ST, I do not agree with that, since NO global effect is in. Also, what is the progress of that in-draft RfC? ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) at 09:28, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
CU is global impacting due to it giving access to PII by its nature but it's the guidance we've had that that's the level of support it must achieve in a local vote. The RfC is on my list of things to publish. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 10:41, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
Note that all problematic revisions and pages are deleted and related logs are deleted as well. ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) at 09:28, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

Lock General I80

Reason: He's been commiting heinous crimes such as whiteknighting Zenko, he's wishing users such as Kesner, Portrock1566, and Voltuse to get globalled because they blocked him for whiteknighting a bad user, will call anybody who blocks him an "SJW" and he cannot handle being blocked and calls it as being "unfair". He also made false allegations towards Voltuse, NeptunePerson2018, and others on the Free Adminship Blacklist including Masson Thief --Hookuai (talk) 02:42, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

@Hookuai: Specific diffs would be helpful. Also, what do you mean by the term "whiteknighting"? And finally, on which wiki(s) is this occurring, and will one or more local indefinite blocks suffice? Dmehus (talk) 03:35, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Basically, the term "whiteknighting" means blindly defending another user. There could be proof for his hostile behaviour: Special:Permalink/105724#Can you please unban me from two wikis? and mh:commonsensewiki:User talk:Kesner --Hookuai (talk) 04:41, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Hookuai: Thanks for the clarification on what it is meant by "whiteknighting." I can see what you mean by the first referenced diff, but I would note that no steward or Global Sysop action was taken there. It was archived without action, which suggests they either (a) didn't see merit in his complaint or (b) it was unnoticed (which was less likely). I recall noticing it, but it contained no diffs and seemed like a local dispute. In terms of the second diff, that is unfortunate that General I80 locally blocked Kesner. For a wiki that seems to purport to advocate for free speech and welcome all viewpoints, with a name like "Common Sense Wiki," it's more than a bit ironic and disappointing. Nevertheless, as unfortunate as it is, and it does appear that the user is behaving in a childish fashion, I'm personally not seeing anything that rises to the level of warranting Global Sysop or steward involvement, but I'll nonetheless {{ping}} @Reception123: to take a second look. Hope this helps. If you would like my personal opinion, I personally think that all parties should agree to avoid each other's wikis and limit their interactions in communal wikis on which they each don't hold local bureaucrat or sysop user rights. Dmehus (talk) 05:06, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I've found more people, including me getting blockes on Common Sense Wiki because of a rule that sas that if an admin blocks the user, they will be blocked proving how I80 is very childish and he can't handle being blocked. And when Reception123 blocked an IP address on the wiki, he unblocked her for 2 seconds. --Hookuai (talk) 16:29, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
@Hookuai: This seems to be a two-way dispute, so I've yet to, and am indeed hesitant to, form an opinion either way. Throughout all of this, I noted that General I80 has not been notified of this global complaint against him. How come? Was that just an oversight? Since this dispute involves two parties, both parties should submit their statements and/or evidence, and then a steward can look into what the right approach to resolving this is. Dormancy policy exemption for Vaccabolario

Hi stewards,

I'm the Vaccabolario wiki's bureaucrat, asking the dormancy policy exemption as this wiki, being a Dictionary, is mostly made to be read (and, considering it's 99% text, it won't take much room on Miraheze's servers anyway).

I asked it in a recent past but, not seeing my wiki listed into Exemptions list, nor an approval/deny comment from you, I'm asking it again.

Thanks in advance,

ElweThor (talk) 13:44, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

@ElweThor: Regarding your previous request, it's possible it was missed, or a steward did see it, but didn't see that it needed any action. At any rate, they'll review and assess your request for a Dormancy Policy exemption in due course; however, considering that your wiki is still here, it seems like it may not need an exemption as you are active on the wiki. Just producing one log action and/or edit on a regular basis keeps your wiki active. As well, even if it didn't have any log actions or edits in the prescribed period, it can easily be reactivated in Special:ManageWiki on your wiki. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:44, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: thanks for the kind explanation but, as you may think too, it's "disturbing" to have a wiki eligible for the exemption (I asked for it 'cause it exactly meets the reasons they wrote in the Dormancy Policy page: "Wikis made to be read, where a lot of information is already on wiki and doesn't need to be actively edited") which is not marked in that way: it forces me to update it even when no update is available or needed, which make really no sense for a dictionary. I'm not worried about missing attention or to have to wait, at the moment: at now, and for some time forward, I'm still adding definitions to the dictionary, but in the future it could happen that my wiki could be deleted 'cause of not that much activity I'm expecting, about adding: I opened it 'cause, from time to time, I stumble on a new definition to add, but it doesn't happen on regular basis or that soon. Unfortunately, InspecterAbdel, an innocent user, got globally locked for no valid reason. I didn't see any bad things he did. Sinma15191 (talk) 15:16, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

I have the same question. The renamed user says "GDRP", meaning General Data Protection Regulation. CircleyDoesExtracter(Circley Talk | Global |Email the Cloud) 15:18, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
I can't comment further but the action was taken pursuant to our Terms of Use. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:21, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
First, I don't know why he was locked. Second, I uploaded a video about this to notify all members of the SRW community. The link to it is https://youtu.be/0DO_nQsOP0w. Sinma15191 (talk) 15:27, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
Oh great. Now Sinma also got globally locked too. --Rainstorm1650 (talk) 05:55, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
@Space0720: There are many reasons for Terms of Use violations, and not all of them imply there was any problem with the user's contributions. System administrators, as Miraheze Staff, are legally obligated to enforce the Terms of Use, together with the Privacy Policy, on behalf of Miraheze, and international laws legally prohibit or severely limit what can be said. We must avoid assuming, really, anything here. Dmehus (talk) 16:59, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
I don't know what is going on, but I think that sinma was locked because of the video they posted. Why is this happening? Is posting there own opinions a violation? No it is not. You can say your opinions. I knew both of the users at least a little bit, and they did absolutely nothing against the ToU. Me, CircleyDoesExtracter, and Space0720 want an elaboration. --TFFfan (talk) 14:27, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
A possible reason to why they got blocked is because InspectorAbdel put himself of the forbidden page list and put "forbidden here until hes 13" and he also said Sinma was 11 in a comment (however the comment was likely a joke.) and they both could have gotten blocked because they were thought to be underaged. ScratchCoder (talk) 14:33, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@ScratchCoder: Is there an age limit? If so can you link it to me? --TFFfan (talk) 14:35, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Well then. Smh. --TFFfan (talk) 14:42, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@TFFfan: Acronym clarification, what's "smh"? Not familiar with that one. :P Dmehus (talk) 14:51, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Shaking my head. It does not matter the age, not everyone is in the UK. And that likely puts lots of people (including me) in the wrong. I am not 16 just yet. So now what, a lock. Fine. --TFFfan (talk) 14:56, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@TFFfan: Okay, thanks for explaining the acronym. Dmehus (talk) 16:08, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

I have confirmed from a discord discussion that the two users were locked because they were under 13. It is still unfair IMO, and I am really not happy right now. --TFFfan (talk) 15:02, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

They claim it has to do with EU laws. They for some reason follow UK laws, which is just not right, because it seems that there are lots of people from US and Canada. --TFFfan (talk) 15:04, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@TFFfan: I am from Canada, and while I can appreciate why users feel this might be unfair, the fact is, the Internet doesn't operate under a single international law. It operates under the laws of the countries where the website operators are incorporated and principally based. Even when the UK departs from the EU, the UK has already adopted a domestic DPR law that is functionally equivalent to GDPR. Board members assume liability for serving on the Miraheze board, so Miraheze has to abide by the relevant laws. Dmehus (talk) 15:22, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
As I understand it the US has nearly identical laws on not collecting any data on under 13 year olds. ~ El Komodos Drago (talk to me) 15:36, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@El Komodos Drago: This is true, to a certain extent, in terms of COPPA and the comparison to one aspect of GDPR/UK DPR; however, fundamentally, what matters is the laws of the UK as Miraheze is the end company directly serving users. Dmehus (talk) 15:54, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@El Komodos Drago: Minor point: Would you mind updating your signature in your Special:Preferences (or Special:GlobalPreferences, as applicable), to replace the underscores with spaces in your user and user talk page links? Though less of an issue due to the short length of your username, underscores as opposed to spaces have a tendency to stretch the width of pages. Dmehus (talk) 15:57, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
What about the unfair locking of examknow.㊗️⚽️Μπέλα2006⚽️㊗️ (talk) 17:45, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Please remove foe requests.

They have caused WAYYY too much drama on The Outcast Network, and we have called this the infamous drama peak of 2020. Every week, it seems like there's a new controversy for us to deal with. We've lost a lot of incredible users due to this drama peak. We really don't want more people to leave as retired users like Voltuse, Seanbuscus2600, Kesner, and EijiZeBoi are retiring. - Theblazemaster4 (talk) 14:48, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Comment: This seems like a local dispute that is best handled locally, but it's also unclear what you are looking for. It seems like this may be related to an extension change, to remove the ability to designate "foes" on wikis. If that's the case, this would require a Phabricator ticket, to the extent it's feasible. If that's not the case, and you're looking for users to be globally locked, there are a couple issues. First, your request lacks sufficient evidence. Second, as one party in the local dispute, stewards have to be mindful to hear from all sides in order to mediate this dispute. If neither of those are what you are looking for, can you tell us what you're looking for? Dmehus (talk) 16:04, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Please globally lock RainBoy107

Reason: He said in a YouTube video that he'd be happy if a user died and had the audacity to say that he would celebrate her death. He's also been acting like a pervert towards minors too. Here's a link to where he was acting so heartless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWFya401z6A&t=49s

DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) 17:11, 1 August 2020 (UTC)DarkMatterMan4500

@DarkMatterMan4500: Do you have any definitive proof that the Miraheze user is the same as the one on YouTube besides the username? Reception123 (talk) (C) 18:02, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Actually, yes I do. Before RainBoy107 closed his YouTube account, he has been making multiple threats towards people and even caused drama in the YouTube community. He also shipped minors on YouTube as well. And here's his Miraheze account on Horrible Vyonders Wiki: https://horriblevyonderswiki.miraheze.org/wiki/User:RainBoy107 DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) 11:45, 7 August 2020 (UTC)DarkMatterMan4500

@DarkMatterMan4500: You will need to provide a diff or permalink to a revision on Miraheze that confirms the link between the RainBoy107 Miraheze account and the YouTube account, as @Reception123: alluded to. You might start by looking through the revisions of all the RainBoy107 attached user accounts' user pages, for a specific diff where the user noted their YouTube account. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:15, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
Any on-wiki evidence of abuse and such would also help. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:30, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Locking Me (WickyHoney)

I requested a Global Lock on this account a while ago through email and I still haven't been. I just wanted to say that I haven't forgotten and that I still want to be ended. You may also lock FlavorWick as well. I have made up my mind and I believe this is the best method. WickyHoney (talk) 20:46, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

@WickyHoney: Well, shoot, I hope that you might reconsider your decision to self-request a lock on your account. I was actually wondering why you haven't been nominated for wiki creator yet, and was going to ask you if you'd be interested in volunteering as you're an experienced, constructive global contributor to the Miraheze community and quite active on Meta. You seem to have a great understanding of Content Policy and even Dormancy Policy, and I thought you'd be a really good fit. Nevertheless, if there's nothing I or other users can do to change your mind, I respect that, and would just add several points on possible reasons for the delay. First, stewards may have a custom or convention whereby they wait for a few calendar days to a week on self-requested global locks, in case users change their mind. Second, Tropical Storm Isaias has impacted the U.S. eastern seaboard fairly heavily, with at least one steward without power or Internet access and another vacationing system administrator also somewhat impacted. Finally, we do have a limited number of stewards capable of performing a vast number of duties, as you know, but I am sure they will get to your request shortly. Dmehus (talk) 21:13, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@WickyHoney:  Done, if you wish to be unlocked please feel free to email cvt(at)miraheze.org Zppix (Meta | CVT Member | talk to me) 17:05, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

The wiki was founded by an inactive user who doesn't even take the quality seriously, and it's biased just like its FANDOM counterpart. @Nitesh Surya Vanapalli: Please contact tech(at)miraheze.org for more details. Reception123 (talk) (C) 10:54, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
Nitesh Surya Vanapalli wants to delete his account, he said so on Discord. I know we cannot fully delete his account, but we can change his account to DeletedAccount:1b2eb0a8253616b811f389c090033ff4 and globally lock him, then change the global visibility of that log. - Theblazemaster4 (talk) 15:10, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Update: The user still wants their account locked. --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 23:38, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

@DeciduousWater534:, the discussion should be centralized on one place. @Reception123: pinged @Nitesh Surya Vanapalli: to contact tech(at)miraheze.org regarding this request, so that's the protocol that should be followed. I have repinged the user by way of this reply in case they didn't receive that notification. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 23:43, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Can you close this wiki please, it's corrupt

So I'm talking about Common Sense Wiki, it's full of propaganda, false claims, biased reasons, it's hypocritical, the admins are corrupt and the wiki defends Zenko who is an SJW, the reason why it's hypocritical is because Ramadhan1a is banned from all positions of being an admin there due to being an SJW when the wiki supports Zenko (who is an SJW as mentioned).

Can this wiki be closed please?

The wiki is also used to unfairly block users. —- MeMeGuY — Preceding unsigned comment added by MeMeGuY (talkcontribs) 20:02, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
@MeMeGuY: That may well be, but each wiki is governed by local rules, and we really can't override those rules, so long as they're not violating the Code of Conduct or other global policies. As Soratako also explained above, stewards would require diffs of permalinks on that wiki that illustrate how that wiki is violating our global content and conduct policies.
Also, please remember to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) so a timestamp is included for the bot. Dmehus (talk) 20:15, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

100.33.92.182, a couple things. First, is this IP range globally or locally blocked? If the former, stewards and Global Sysops can address this. If the latter, you will first need to take that up with the local wiki(s). Second, if you have been affected adversely by a global IP block, you can e-mail stewards(at)miraheze.org, specifying your registered account that you use, to request a global IP block exemption. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 01:16, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

@Penarc1: Firstly, thank you for your post. Additionally, I've added a timestamp to your post as a bot requires them for archiving threads. They also help to cross-reference a specific post to the specific revision in which it was made. I also noted most of your signature is wrapped in <nowiki></nowiki> tags, which seems to be in error.
Second, to answer your question, in checking this wiki's settings, I see that it's not marked as "closed." So, an adoption can't be undertaken. If you are wanting a steward to promote you to bureaucrat where no local bureaucrat is available, what you need to do is organize a local election or appointment process on that wiki, taking into account any local election or appointment policies. Where none exists, commonly, this typically means that the election or appointment process is held on a prominent page on the wiki, and a majority of those that express an opinion support the candidacy of those running. (You'd need to specify how many positions are up for election or appointment.) Typically, you should keep the process open for at least seven (7) calendar days, unless local policies specify a longer (or shorter) timeframe. When the process concludes, return to Stewards' noticeboard and inform the stewards of (a) the location of your election or appointment process and (b) the location of any local policies. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 18:00, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

Can someone block Awesome09000?

Awesome09000 is a very toxic user who denies all of his wrongdoings and even uses his IP address to trick others into thinking that they're different people. He also had the guts to harass various Miraheze users over on FANDOM. Namely Portrock1566, NeptunePerson2018 and others. So you might have to add FANDOM to the blacklist too. KamafaDelgato021469, you can e-mail stewards(at)miraheze.org with this request. • I think that wikis about users should be forbidden because no one wants to be insulted and exposed. Especially those who are trying to keep their information private. There is a line between free speech and criminal speech, and talking trash about other people is criminal. Also, wikis about users usually start and cause dramas, we can't have any more drama. I'd appreciate if this wiki gets closed down and deleted and that no more wikis and pages about users, especially a certain user, will ever be made. ~an unknown individual using a VPN, but I'll leave here if you want me to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.159.101.115 (talkcontribs) 01:24, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
78.159.101.115, free speech is, absolutely, a hallmark of the Miraheze community and the wiki farm. Libelous or grossly defamatory speech, though, is certainly unacceptable, and, indeed, such conduct (whether it occurs on-wiki or on Discord or IRC), would be in contravention of the Code of Conduct. Stewards, principally, are the first point of contact to investigate such reports; however, your report is completely absent of really any evidence required (typically in the form of diffs, wiki search histories by user(s), and other forms of evidence) in order for any investigation to begin and potential action to be taken. Are you able to provide this evidence? Dmehus (talk) 02:06, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
Hello, in addition to what @Dmehus: already mentioned above: although it could be argued either way, the wiki could i be considered a violation of the Content Policy, as it states Miraheze does not host wikis with the sole purpose to spread unsubstantiated insult, hate or rumours against a person or group of people If the wiki were to expose private or personal information about an individual, then that would definitively be against Miraheze policies, and could result in the wiki's closure, but whether it currently is could be debated either way, and without providing evidence, it would be very difficult to investigate the wiki and more specifically, your claims. Thank you! User:Universal Omega/Sig  02:12, 12 August 2020 (UTC) |

Unless the user has any evidence, nothing's going to happen here. @GondorChicken: I haven't looked at the diffs, but that at least gives a steward a starting point for analysis. Diff supported evidence are what these requests for steward action need. @ButterBlaziken230: I haven't looked through all the contributions, but from my perspective as a non-contributing outsider, calling a user "malicious" and "psychopathic," as shown in that edit linked above is never okay. It is uncivil and contravenes the Code of Conduct. As to the claim about the user having over "1000 sockpuppets," as seen in the same edit, since CheckUser is a centrally-controlled user right for exclusive use by stewards, you cannot confirm this. You can only suggest this is the case, so saying with certainty does at least open the door to claims of unsourced statements and potential contravention of the Code of Conduct and/or other global policies. If you suspect something, you should include words like likely or possibly, and should be prepared to provide supporting behavioural evidence. Dmehus (talk) 22:03, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
  • Update: There will be a forthcoming Order from the Code of Conduct Commission related to this discussion thread. No further discussion should occur in this thread. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 17:27, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
On what grounds would the commission be making such an order? My understanding is the CoCC can not initiate their own discipline processes and can not hear a complaint raised to them without previous resolution attempts. If the Commission is acting against recent community consensus, I would advise the Commission to re-think its approach now. John (talk) 20:40, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

My knowledge as a Steward is no complaints besides this one have been raised with regards to CoC issues on the wiki. Therefore is this confirmation that the Commission are launching initial discipline hearings without referring to the relevant body, directly in contravention if the Commission policy? I would hope not as I don’t feel the Community would like to know the first action of the Commission they elected us to ignore policy and subvert the relevant processes they have chosen to enact. John (talk) 22:04, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
  • Having reviewed the content of the wiki, I'm not going to delete the wiki. About reCAPTCHA

Miraheze use this to prevent garbage and others. But in China,we cannot see the Verification Code without vpn.It is inconvenient for some writer, especially in a Chinese community.

As far as I am concerned, the raCAPTCHA of Google has more than four service url:www.google.com,www.recaptcha.net and so on.The url www.google.com is common, but it doesnot work in China.I think Miraheze use this. The www.recaptcha.net and others can work in China.

So we only can use SpecialPage to create an account. It is so inconvenient.

Can I or you change? Such as close the reCAPTCHA in our wiki and to choose a better way.Or a good way:change the service url.

At last, our wiki url is nmfwiki.miraheze.org.And my email is kaizhadanche@sina.com.Excuse my awful English.

I apologize for the inconvenience. But this is a difficult problem. Sure, we can use something other than ReCaptcha, but this choice is inconvenient for most users. How do I restore this page?

User:DMBFFF/Dekadays beginning from winter solstice

I created it several months ago—long before June 2020.

Here's Stewards' noticeboard/Archive 12#I FUBARed a few of my wiki's pages—now what? for reference. Thanks. DMBFFF (talk) 01:26, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

@DMBFFF: If you are an administrator on the wiki there is a restore button that allows you to do so. You can click here and it will take you there. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:10, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
Done, but it's a redirect that I made it in June. I created the page months earlier. Again, I think I lost the original content when I moved it to the new namespace, turned the former into a redirect, and then removed the namespace (erroneously, it seems). DMBFFF (talk) 10:54, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
It looks like I won't be getting any help in this anytime soon. It's a good thing I saved my old pages. To anyone is reading this, save your pages, and don't delete particular namespaces without first moving the ones you don't want lost. Maybe I'll figure this all out myself in several months or a few years. I'm not faulting the admins: it's just the way it is, I suppose. DMBFFF (talk) 16:18, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@DMBFFF: Looking at this request, you actually came to the correct location, if (a) you first asked a local administrator to restore your page and (b) if a local administrator on that wiki did not action your request for restoration within "a reasonable period of time" (somewhat common practice seems to be at least seven days must've elapsed). At that time, you can request here, ideally linking to your request on the local wiki, and a steward (or Global Sysop (as long it's not a GS opted out wiki) can then action your request appropriately (if the local wiki has local deletion/undeletion policies, then those prevail; otherwise, it's subject to global policies and conventions)). I'm going to {{ping}} @Reception123: back to this request to alert him to your follow up. Dmehus (talk) 16:47, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@DMBFFF: You are a local bureaucrat and administrator on this wiki. You should, therefore, be able to undelete this page. Apologies to Reception123 for my premature {{ping}} above. Dmehus (talk) 16:51, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@DMBFFF: I see the problem. You only restored the most recent revision, which was a redirect. Go back into the page restoration function for that page and restore all revisions, then undo only the most recent edit to show the previous page. Dmehus (talk) 16:56, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@DMBFFF: You may also want to check the destination page, FMRAV:DMBFFF (FMRAV User page)/Dekadays beginning from winter solstice. I'm not seeing any logs for that page, but seeing as that is a redlink, there could very well be content that can be restored there. Dmehus (talk) 17:01, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Thank you Reception123 and Dmehus for your replies. As per Reception123's link "here" it leads to only 2 earlier versions to restore: the earliest being 28 June 2020, whereas I created the page several months earlier—possibly even last year.

In my my post to MediaWiki, a mw:User:Bawolff said:

if you know the numeric page id, often you can use the curid parameter (but that doesnt seem to work in your https://fictionandfictionalsettingswiki.miraheze.org/wiki/?curid=4 case) or the api using page id parameters.

Otherwise you need miraheze to run cleanupTitles.php.

I don't know what that all means—as I'm far from being an expert.

Again,

  1. I created a new namespace, "FMRAV:"
  2. I moved some of my pages to it. I believe the histories were also moved to such pages, e.g. User:DMBFFF/Dekadays beginning from winter solstice and its history was moved to FMRAV:DMBFFF (FMRAV User page)/Dekadays beginning from winter solstice
  3. I then turned the old pages into re-directs to the FMRAV: pages e.g. User:DMBFFF/Dekadays beginning from winter solstice.
  4. I then changed my mind—as I'm still working out things in my wiki.
  5. I then erred when I removed/deleted/whatever the namespace. What I think I should have done was to move the content in the FMRAV pages back to their original pages, and then remove/delete/whatever the FMRAV pages. As it is, I didn't and apparently lost content and histories of such, and the original pages remained/remain as redirects.
  6. As I figure this stuff is unlikely truely lost—maybe it's in the original pages, maybe it's in the FMRAV pages—at least for the experts—I'm not seeing any logs for that page, but seeing as that is a redlink, there could very well be content that can be restored there. Dmehus (talk) 17:01, 30 July 2020 (UTC)—I posted my issue here last month and MW, with the resulting replies.

Again, though this is presently the worse thing to have happened to me here in Miraheze, it is one that I can live with as I save pages. If anyone can help me fix it, great. If not, again, it's a lesson learned, and I might figure it out on my own and/or come across something in several months or a few years. I am far from despondant, and I thank all for their time.

Now I have another question! :D

I can now embed YouTube videos

such as in Fun:Song(s) for the dekaday#23rd dekaday

and Wikicommons videos such as in

User:DMBFFF/Sandbox

how about Vimeo, DailyMotion (more hypothetically than anything), niconico, YouKu, and maybe xHamster and PornHub, not for porn but, oddly as it sounds, music?

such as in Fun:Song(s) for the dekaday#15th dekaday, this, and this(4:31 in to video)?

—stuff you won't see on YouTube anytime soon, but has some musical and artistic value (and for those not offended by female nudity.)

Also, how would one embed a YT, or other video, to play only at a certain time?

Such as when wanting to cue to the lady holding the Gadsden flag 3:36 into this video: 6:07 https://youtu.be/KI_OgLaWVH0?t=216

Again, help is appreciated.   :)   DMBFFF (talk) 02:39, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

I must be some kind of wiki-moron.
my recent changes
I moved [Category:Relatively small little known places] to [Category:The world's relatively small little known places] without leaving a redirect, and it seems to have worked out.

I moved [FMRAV:CMNF Club (draft)] to [Draft:CMNF Club]. Again no problem though the latter also shows up as a red link.
Noticing that all but 1 of my Fiction and Fictional Settings Wiki: namespaces didn't show up on the special pages (as the prefix) I thought I'd experiment by moving [Fiction and Fictional Settings Wiki:FMRAV] to [Fiction and Fictional Settings Wiki:Fiction and Fictional Settings Wiki:FMRAV] without leaving a redirect, as an experiment, with the intention of moving it back, and apparently the content disappeared from both pages.
So what do I do in what I figure will be in the absence of useful advice?
As I've saved the pages I'll create a new page with the same name, based on pages I've saved.
I will give up on being able to search under the special pages tab for some of the prefixed pages—it should be enough that I categorize my pages.
As for my questions about vimeo and the others, I will upload still images from the videos—screenshots—that when clicked will go to such sites, and accept that perhaps +99% of sheeple on the internet know of no other (non-porn) video sites save YouTube, Facebook, and TicToc, and thus few will be interested in my concerns here.
I would ask how one could pipe FMRAV pages for categories, as in [Category:Contents|FMRAV] without it showing up under "F" instead of "FMRAV" but instead I'll use the Greek letter Phi—"Φ"—e.g. [Category:Contents|Φ], and explain in my [Fiction and Fictional Settings Wiki:FMRAV], once I re-create that page.
Best wishes to all in surmounting their obstacles. (I'm not angry: just a little tired. Time for a break.)
DMBFFF (talk) 23:27, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

I thought I'd try creating a new namespace, "Transit:" for when I'm moving pages when trying to improve other namespaces I created. I seem to have succeeded in correcting one of my Fun talk: pages, but I eliminated a FAFSW page I created in February. The lesson here seems to be to don't try to improve the FAFSW settings. Just categorize. I'm tempted to request starting over with a new wiki, but at present, the temptation is easy to resist. DMBFFF (talk) 21:40, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Gone wiki froggy.info

Hi folks,

I was about to add a couple or minor edit on https://froggy.info and the Wiki no longer exist. Is it lost forever or is there a way to resurrect it?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bitonio (talkcontribs) 22:59, 15 August 2020 (UTC

@Bitonio:, it may be possible to retrieve an XML dump as one of our system administrators, @Reception123:, tries to do this (for public wikis, that is) prior to running the wiki deletion script. They are usually posted to this Internet Archive page; however, in order to search for it more quickly, do you remember either the username of the original requesting user, the subdomain.miraheze.org used, or the wiki database name (i.e., subdomainwiki)?
Also, I have added an {{unsigned}} signature to your post. Please remember to sign all talk page and noticeboard posts with four tildes (~~~~). Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 23:15, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
Update: Looking at Phabricator ticket T2288, it looks like the subdomain was feu and the database name was feuwiki. @Reception123: do you remember off hand when this wiki was deleted and if an XML dump might've been done back then? See also the original wiki request. Dmehus (talk) 23:21, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
First, it depends on whether the wiki was private or not. Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:54, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Reception123: Yeah, I checked that. It wasn't, and the original requestor is the same user as who initiated this thread. See above link at "the original wiki request." Dmehus (talk) 14:58, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Bitonio: The wiki has been undeleted, looks like you got to it just in time. -- Void Whispers 16:00, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Void: thank you SO much! @Dmehus: sorry for the poor formatting here, I am a totally Wiki newbie. Bitonio (talk) 6:30PM, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Bitonio: No problem. Glad your wiki was able to be restored in the nick of time. Make sure that you have at least one edit or log action that would show up in Special:RecentChanges made every 45-60 days to prevent your wiki from being inactive. Even when it's marked as closed, you should still be able to go into Special:ManageWiki on your wiki and locally re-open it. Dmehus (talk) 19:09, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

I think Reception123 blocked the wrong person.

Remember that edit war between FreezingTNT and Inkster on Awful Movies Wiki (namely the Ratchet & Clank page)? Here's what Masson had to say:

"Inkster is unfortunately often creating problems and edits wars on the wikis. FreezingTNT is usually quiet and never gave us big problems overall."

In other words, FreezingTNT is innocent. He didn't intend to start the edit war at all. Inkster was trying to help him before TNT accidentally moved it back. He was well-intentioned.

Trevor807 (talk) 17:54, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

@Trevor807:, FreezingTNT is not globally locked and never has been. @Reception123: blocked the user, temporarily, due to uncivil edit summaries and edit warring, presumably, because no action was taken by local administrators. It was strictly a local block, which, incidentally, expires later today. If other users are using uncivil, disrespectful language or otherwise violating the Code of Conduct, they, too, can be reported, but please note that reports should include direct links to the specific revision(s) or diff(s) in question. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 19:30, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Bureaucrats for Horrible Music and Songs Wiki (PLEASE NOTICE THIS STEWARDS)

So I asked some people on Horrible Music and Songs Wiki if they wanted to be bureaucrats right here, and as you can see, Theblazemaster4, DuchessTheSponge, HellLord, and Tom191 all express interest in it. Rainstorm1650 would also like to be a bureaucrat along with myself, Disintegrated.to.pieces. So could you please give us all bureaucrat status? We would very much like to help out with revitalizing the wiki, and we promise that we'll all do a very good job. - Disintegrated.to.pieces (talk) 19:31, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

I want to be a bureaucrat too. Tom191 (talk) 19:40, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
Plus, the FANDOM version is biased Tom191 (talk) 19:44, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
I also want to be bureaucrat MeMeGuYWasLost (talk)
@MeMeGuYWasLost: If your name is included in the list of those that originally ran locally for bureaucrat, a steward will assess. If not, once a steward has assessed the local election, you can request that right from local administration. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 20:05, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Disintegrated.to.pieces: A steward will assess your local request in due course. Please allow 1-2 weeks for them to get to your request. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 20:05, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Disintegrated.to.pieces: FWIW, all I see there is a list of users indicating their willingness to stand for election as a bureaucrat. Does that wiki have any policies governing local elections or appointments? If not, I might recommend creating a new section on that page, listing all the candidates for bureaucrat, describing how many positions are to be granted, and the terms (i.e., the support ratio) that must be achieved for the request to be successful. Then, you would have everyone vote there whether to "support all"; "support some (listing the exceptions)"; "oppose all"; or "oppose some (listing the exceptions)". Once that had been concluded (typically after 7 days, if no local policies exist), you would come back here and link to stewards of the that page containing the resullts. Right now, we only see a list of people wanting to be a bureaucrat, not whether they support each other, if that makes sense. Dmehus (talk) 20:12, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Delete my wiki please! I don't want it anymore

Could you do it please? - - Disintegrated.to.pieces (talk) 19:51, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

@Disintegrated.to.pieces:, was this a wiki you requested? Assuming so, a steward should respond to your request in order of priority (within the next several weeks). I will monitor your request, and relist, as required, to prevent the bot from archiving it. Dmehus (talk) 20:05, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus:, yes, I requested it. That's why I called it "my" wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Disintegrated.to.pieces (talkcontribs) 20:52, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Disintegrated.to.pieces: Okay, thanks for clarifying. I guess I missed seeing the little word my. My apologies. Thank you for clarifying. A steward should action your request in due course. Dmehus (talk) 21:08, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Lock evader

A user admitted to being a globally locked user. GondorChicken (talk) 17:37, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

@GondorChicken: Can you link to the [[Special:CentralAuth/userName|userName]] to make it easier to view the user's contributions? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 17:39, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
Se is the locked account. SoloPatriot7890 is the evasion account. GondorChicken (talk) 17:48, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, I've alerted the stewards to this thread on Discord. Dmehus (talk) 18:33, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
Please, please please, I'm sorry for my wrongdoings, Miraheze! Even though I did actually cause drama, GondorChicken is actually trying to lock me because he is a whiteknight of Zenko, who is the real abuser! I swear, it was a misunderstanding! I was only trying to help other stop Zenko from abusing multiple accounts so others won't be encouraged to whiteknight! SoloPatriot7890 (talk) 06:00, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
Also, he was blocked for no good reason. --Rainstorm1650 (talk) 06:10, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
I'm sorry for my past wrongdoings, I only wanted to start a new time here. SoloPatriot7890 (talk) 06:15, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @SoloPatriot7890: Regarding your apology to me above, there was no need as I was just clerking this noticeboard. As to any previous global lock(s), I would strongly suggest you e-mail stewards(at)miraheze.org, acknowledging that you created this account without a full understanding of user accounts policy with respect to block or lock evasion of existing sanctions, and then appeal your existing lock, addressing the concerns for why your original account was originally locked. Contrition and addressing how past behaviour can go a long way (see also WP:ROPE). In the meantime, I further strongly advise you cease using this account and do not create any additional accounts or edit while logged out. These only compound the problem as to trustworthiness. Dmehus (talk) 13:24, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

@Dmehus: While lock evading is bad, I don't think @SoloPatriot7890: should get globalled. While he was Se/TheInterneto, he was immature, and got into flame wars with Zenko, causing him to get globalled (It's still unfair). But he is redeemed, and stopped doing wwhat he did. He is neutral about Zenko, unblocks good users etc. The only reason GondorChicken reported him for being a lock evader is because he hates him because Zenko hates him, in which GC is a whiteknight of. Which makes GC a hypocrite because he approves of Zenko evading her ban too. Please don't lock him Tom191 (talk) 22:13, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Tom191: At least I got to see Miraheze once again. SoloPatriot7890 (talk) 01:25, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@Tom191: Firstly, I'm not a steward or Global Sysop, so I could not take such an action. Second, I never suggested anything like that. Please re-read what I wrote to @SoloPatriot7890:. I was just providing him with good-faith advice on what he should do, which is to reach out, good-faith, to stewards(at)miraheze.org and let them know that he created a second account, while the original account was locked, and address the conditions that led to the original account being looked at in the first place. That goes a long way to re-establishing trustworthiness that is so integral to a functioning community. Dmehus (talk) 22:26, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Tom191: Treating opinions as facts never gets anyone anywhere for long. That's called lying. --GondorChicken (talk) 23:42, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
@GondorChicken: You know, you need to understand how we feel. SoloPatriot7890 (talk) 01:25, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@SoloPatriot7890: Why do you exclude yourself from this advice? Do you think I have no feelings? --GondorChicken (talk) 01:30, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@GondorChicken: No, but you need to understand that you can't undo the past of your own actions or anyone elses, no matter how close you are to Zenko. So let me ask you this, why do you want me globalled? SoloPatriot7890 (talk) 01:40, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@SoloPatriot7890: See my comment several indentations above on what I think is the best course of action for you here, and that is to, in good-faith, reach out to stewards(at)miraheze.org per my advice above. Dmehus (talk) 01:49, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
All right SoloPatriot7890 (talk) 01:58, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
I do think that Solo (Ik he’s you-know-who (NOT Voldemort) but IDGAF) can still learn from his past mistakes. - MeMeGuYWasLost (talk) 22:37, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
Probably true. One of my reasons for reporting him was to get him locked to avoid conflict, but the other reason is because I had noticed that Reception wondered why no admin on Unfavorable Wikis and Users Wiki was reporting locked users when they found out. Honor comes before personal beliefs. I realized I needed to help Reception out so that is what I did. I don't hate Solo. It's just that if I notice something that violates the ToU then I should report it. My tendency to look through various wikis led me to evidence so I reported it because I couldn't not report it since I saw it. It's okay to report factual evidence. I know hate is never an answer and should never prevail. I have seen and felt hate. Hate is disgusting. I see people treating people like they are scum through and through, so I do something about it. Apparently I am scum though. Liars accuse people of lying. I am unsure who is lying since the truth is fading. To put it simply, I never wanted to be in a cell where I would be perpetually poked and insulted just for understanding that no matter how bad someone did that they shouldn't be held with those errors and mistakes forever. I realize I came off the opposite since I was just trying to be nice but my methods rubbed several people the wrong way. I guess I will be remembered as chaotic evil just for trying to help an overhated user out. I had a small grudge against Solo that I admit but I ultimately just wanted to follow the rules and help others follow the rules. Rules exist for a reason. I followed them the best I could. Judged eternally I wait for death. Death doesn't exist though because everyone remembers your mistakes and bad judgements. I do feel hate. I feel hate for not knowing how to change things in a way that will benefit everyone. --GondorChicken (talk) 00:10, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────  Comment: I've seen the Terms of Use invoked—both in this thread and on IRC. It's important to point out that the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct are separate global policies, with the former enforced by system administrators and the latter enforced by the stewards and Global Sysops (and really all Mirahezians, since we all have a responsibility, fundamentally, for ensuring we (a) abide by by the CoC and (b) ensure it is abided by on wikis in which we administer or manage). The Terms of Use is a much narrower set of operating conditions to which Mirahezians agree by creating a Miraheze account and to using it; it's more of a legal document, in essence. The Code of Conduct is, essentially, a community-adopted set of global community standards that apply globally to all Mirahezians. Dmehus (talk) 00:57, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

I have detected a vandal on the Awful Deviant Artist Wiki who has vandalized a page. Evidence is right here: https://awfuldeviantartist.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/TheCatCameBackTheVeryNextDay

Please lock this vandal immediately. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) 15:05, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

@DarkMatterMan4500:, firstly, would you mind going into your preferences or global preferences, as applicable (whatever you're using), and remove the trailing "DarkMatterMan4500" from your signature, or just not add the plain text duplicate iteration of "DarkMatterMan4500" to every post that you make? The likely reason is that, by being connected to the timestamp of your signature without a space, prevents the bot from archiving threads where no one has replied to the thread. It'd be much appreciated.
Regarding your report of cross-wiki vandalism, I would just note that @Reception123: locally blocked TheCatCameBack. Given the username similarities and similar attached contributions to TheCatCameBackTheVeryNextDay, it's possible these two accounts are related, so your report will be considered by stewards in due course. Thank you for your report. In the meantime, if you are an administrator on that local wiki, you should be able to locally block this account, too, pending any further action by global administrators. Dmehus (talk) 15:20, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus:, Well ok. And about those 2 being related, it's actually because they're both the same user. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) 15:30, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
@DarkMatterMan4500:, thanks for amending your signature. Much appreciated. Only a CheckUser, principally, a steward, can confirm abuse of multiple accounts; however, I tend to agree that the behavioural evidence you've provided is compelling, and that is likely why the second account has been  globally locked by a Global Sysop, with the original account remaining locally blocked on one more more wikis. Dmehus (talk) 17:54, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

@Cocopuff2018: That's not entirely true. Duplicative wikis are not allowed to be created. The content policy states, "A wiki must not create problems which make it difficult for other wikis." This does fall under this if the wiki were to be a fully duplicative wiki. However in this particular case, the wiki may not be a fully duplicative wiki. I have not yet checked if it is or not. Abuse and vandalism on Nonciclopedia

Hello. For several days I have been attacked by vandals and trolls on Nonciclopedia. They keep vandalizing my talk page and constantly changing IPs. I therefore request the global lock of the following IP addresses: 79.55.124.80, 82.54.170.162, 87.21.127.89, 87.6.126.112 and 82.54.170.162. These IPs also vandalize other people's discussion pages and attack other users, like Fantinaikos, the only admin of the wiki.

Please delete this page and this page - there is always vandalism on these pages, and I do not want to start an edit war with the vandals. Also, please delete and then protect my discussions page so that anonymous users cannot edit it.

After banning the other trolls, 193.207.192.40, added bad words in Italian: you should block this IP address.

If it is possible, you should completely lock Nonciclopedia from anonymous edits, so that only logged in users can contribute. The wiki has too many IP vandals and there is only one administrator, who cannot always be active to undo edits. Gabngst (talk) 15:33, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Request for local interwiki administrator

Hello, I would like to request a local interwiki administrator position on the DC Multiverse Wiki. I read the qualifications at Interwiki administrators and feel I am eligible for the position. I posted a post on the wiki, and have received no opposition. The post can be seen here. Thank you! User:Universal Omega/Sig  03:42, 9 August 2020 (UTC) |

[FIXED] Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true

I have some problems on Extension:Cargo in mh:rs: but I can't find $wgShowExceptionDetails in ManageWiki page. Please help me set it. Thanks. --SolidBlock (talk) 15:34, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Can you please file a task on phabricator so a system administrator can take a look into it? Setting $wgShowExceptionDetails is rather unlikely, but if you provide the hash at the start of the exception details, they should be able to pull up the full exception details themselves and look into what went wrong. -- Void Whispers 16:03, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@Void: Actually, the phab is filed on phab:T5199. There's no hash at the start of the exception details, only saying the table does not exist. --SolidBlock (talk) 10:41, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
@Void: According to Yaron Koren, maybe you can help call update.php to create the needed database tables cargo_tables and cargo_pages. --SolidBlock (talk) 04:20, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
According to phab:T6070, it is fixed. --SolidBlock (talk) 03:24, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Unprofessional blocking from several wikis

I have been wrongfully permanently blocked from several wikis for fraudulent personal reasons. Do you intervene in personal situations such as this? Note that the only sites I particularly care about are the Rotten Websites Wiki, and maybe the Unfavorable Wikis and Users Wiki to respond to some of the false information written about me there. Thank you for your time. Wpetoi (talk) 05:20, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Update: In response to what Dmehus said, yes, multiple of the messages violate the code of conduct. Here is the link (I believe everyone is able to view this page). If they've retracted the blocks by the time you've read this, use this internet archive link. The incident they're referring to was when I politely informed someone that I don't believe they got depression because they were banned from a kids' website for two weeks. Wpetoi (talk) 04:31, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
(facepalm) "The incident they're referring to was when I politely informed someone that I don't believe they got depression because they were banned from a kids' website for two weeks." You think Circley doesn't have depression? Look again, because he's very sad and you used it to joke around, proving how offensive you are. Your deleted wiki was also slanderous. --Hookuai (talk) 06:58, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
No, we blocked you: Bad Scratch Wiki, treating one of my friend's depression as a mere joke. This would describe Wpetoi: "DePresSiOn Is fAkE". You also attempted to switch you slanderous wiki into attempting it to be satire so you can try to save your wiki. And your denying the wrongdoings, Wpetoi, by saying that all those information you did was false, such as wanting to wish death on users, children, attempted to "switch" Bad Scratch Wiki's purpose to satire, and even hiding your secret on your FANDOM and Reddit account. You excuse yourself by saying "these accounts are impostors. This is why I higly despise you for all the stuff you did (except for deleting Griffpatch's page) --Hookuai (talk) 07:10, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
(non-steward comment) I would just like to mention that each local wiki administrator has the right to block whoever they want and I doubt a Steward would want to get involved in such matters for the vast majority of cases. And again, please remember to keep things civil on SN. Reception123 (talk) (C) 07:15, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
Echoing what @Reception123: said, I would just add to that if some of the block summaries contain personal attacks or otherwise violate the Code of Conduct, there may be a case for a redaction of the inappropriate block summaries, but yes, local blocks are a local matter. If there is material on wikis that otherwise violates the Code of Conduct, these can be reported to stewards, and e-mail to stewards(at)miraheze.org may be a better avenue for these reports. If you are unsatisfied with the action taken by stewards, you can review Code of Conduct to find out what your avenues for appeal or reconsideration are, or ask stewards to advise you of that. Dmehus (talk) 13:08, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
Yes, they have violated the code of conduct on multiple occasions, both in block messages and pretty much any outlet they have to send messages to me (if you don't believe me, see how many hate replies the message got for the sole reason that I was the one who posted it). I have elaborated further in a post above. Wpetoi (talk) 04:31, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
Please stop victimizing yourself; it makes you no better and makes you look like you are chasing sympathy and clout. Why do you think we're treating you like a monster? If you did, we would've outright banned you on any wiki you come (except for the Meta.) --Hookuai (talk) 06:58, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
If you want unblocked, then show us that you have changed, admit the accounts were yours (or provide more proof that they were not yours) and say that the things you did were wrong and that you will not do them again. And say sorry about anything you did. ScratchCoder (talk) 14:37, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
SC is right. What he did is advising you to admit your wrongs. --Hookuai (talk) 06:58, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
I'm not taking an Alford plea because of your sockpuppet impersonator account. Wpetoi (talk) 15:05, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Comment: These tit-for-tat allegations, from all parties, need to stop. All users have been advised that for reporting serious Code of Conduct violations, an e-mail message, substantiated by relevant diff links and a good explanation, to stewards(at)miraheze.org is, currently, the best avenue. Nothing positive will come from continue to argue with each other in this thread. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 15:13, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Lock Rainstorm1650

He has vandalized on multiple wikis and said awful things to people. He must be stopped. Links:

GondorChicken (talk) 18:46, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Comment: @GondorChicken: It's good that you've provided diffs, but a steward will likely need more than this. We've had back-and-forth, tit-for-tat reports between related users on Stewards' noticeboard of late, so this seems like it might be a dispute involving multiple parties or factions, one ideally suited for steward mediation. You should be advised that all parties' contributions and conduct would be assessed in such multiple party disputes. Dmehus (talk) 19:01, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: You misunderstand, because he has vandalized on several wikis, which is obviously unacceptable behavior and since it's on multiple wikis that is cause for a global lock as this user has frequently engaged in this misconduct. GondorChicken (talk) 19:57, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@GondorChicken: I'm not misunderstanding. Vandalism, other than blatant vandalism, is difficult to quantify as each wiki has different local policies on what they view as notionally vandalism. Some wikis might interpret changing things on a page that contravenes their local writing style guide as vandalism; others may take a more liberal view. This probably needs steward attention, yes, but I'm just saying that they will likely to want to evaluate the conduct of other users, on other wikis. As well, they will likely want to give @Space0720: a chance to provide a statement. Dmehus (talk) 21:07, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: You have a definite point, but I feel that spamming "bitch" into the front page on a wiki and removing loads of content usually qualifies as blatant vandalism. GondorChicken (talk) 21:51, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@GondorChicken: Yes, that is blatant vandalism, but why is the front page not protected at sysop or bureaucrat? There are alternatives here, and the user could also be locally blocked on one or more wikis, too. Dmehus (talk) 21:54, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
@GondorChicken: Dude, I was just trying to give criticism. --Rainstorm1650 (talk) 06:09, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
@Space0720: Vandalism isn't criticism. You can always speak your views. --GondorChicken (talk) 17:51, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
@GondorChicken: By your logic. Criticism = Vandalism. Also, the diff on Rogues Gallery of Internet is not vandalism at all. --Rainstorm1650 (talk) 12:35, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
@Space0720: You are supposed to follow the Code of Conduct and not mock people. Making up false information about about people and putting them up as facts will not do you any good. Criticism is spoken directly to people, not brought up with insults and broken windows. —GondorChicken (talk) 12:46, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Please globally lock this vandal

His name's SonicYes FortniteNo, he vandalized the Coco page on Greatest Movies Wiki and the Wonder Park page on Awful Movies Wiki so if you could globally lock him that'd be great. - Theblazemaster4 (talk) 13:27, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Unless they seem to be a sock of someone, I think two instances of removing content from pages is a bit weak to justify a global lock. Reception123 (talk) (C) 13:30, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
How about a block on Awful Movies Wiki and Greatest Movies Wiki then, if he vandalises a page on an another wiki then globally lock him - HellLord (21 August 2020 UK)
Concur completely with @Reception123:. I think we may want to develop an informational page on what constitutes as "blatant vandalism" for the purposes of counter vandalism team action. Vandalism in the context of local wiki administrators may be a person removing content they don't like or otherwise object to, for which local administrators can locally block; however, in the context of global counter vandalism, unless the user is (a) a sockpuppet of a blocked user or (b) engaging solely in unconstructive vandalism (as globally measured by CVT) as a vandalism only account, there's little to arguably no case for a global lock. Dmehus (talk) 14:01, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
However, judging by the fact he has only 2 edits, both being the aforementioned vandalism on pages, he might be a vandalism-only account. - Theblazemaster4 (talk) 14:12, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
Yes, it is definitely a possibility that it is a vandalism-only account, but to lock an account for two edits which are simply removing content from a page is premature and unnecessary. If there is more cross-wiki vandalism or it escalates, a global lock will be considered. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:02, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
@Reception123: He did tell someone that he would raid their house and also forced us to like Jacob Stout. --Rainstorm1650 (talk) 13:59, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
@Space0720: The user only has two edits on Miraheze, none of which mention any "raiding". Are you saying that this user is a sockpuppet of someone perhaps? Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:05, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
@Reception123: This: [4]. --Rainstorm1650 (talk) 12:32, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

(reset indent) Upon reviewing the several comments made by the user one one wiki only I've decided to not globally lock the user at the time, as their wrongdoings are quite minor and are only on one wiki (and a blanking on another one). For me, this does not constitute a good enough reason for a global lock, as one of the main goals of a global lock is to prevent a disruptive user from disrupting multiple wikis. I suggest that the user is locally blocked for the time being, and if the vandalism spreads to more wikis a global lock can be considered then. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:51, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Please globally lock this vandal

This guy has been caught vandalizing an article by replacing the content with racist text and making jokes about dicks that may not be appropriate for other people. Here is some evidence of it: https://awfulmovies.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Whoever_blocks_this_account_1st_will_get_5_dollars DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) 14:08, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

@DarkMatterMan4500: That username does suggest a single-purpose account whose sole purpose is to troll and/or vandalize. Nevertheless, it doesn't exist. Is it possible you've made a typo in that username in your report? Thus, we can't assess whether more than one or two wikis have been vandalized. Dmehus (talk) 15:03, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Actually, here's a much better link: https://awfulmovies.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Whoever_blocks_this_account_1st_will_get_5_dollars. DarkMatterMan4500 talk} 15:09, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
link. Ora & D (talk) 15:14, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@DarkMatterMan4500: The user is  locally blocked on the sole wiki on which they've contributed, so this seems to be handled. They do seem to be a single-purpose vandalism only account, to be sure, so lock may be possible, but it may not be needed. I would recommend following up here if disruption continues onto a second wiki, and then a global locking likely would be entertained. Thanks also to @Ora & D: for correcting the link for @DarkMatterMan4500:. Dmehus (talk) 15:46, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
Locked. Due to the nature of the username, it clearly indicates to me that this user is a vandalism only account and has no intention of positively contributing to any project. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:56, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Local IWA and OS

With some discussions in IRC and private discussions with User:Big fatty yumi, other users agree that I and User:Big fatty yumi have local IWA rights, and I want it to import things from scpwiki.com and minecraft.gamepedia.com and much more other sites. I acknowledge that this right may cause site-wide irreversible damage and account compromisation, and I will be held responsible for such incidents. With some private discussions in IRC, we decided that an oversighter is needed if the size of this wiki grows, and I would like to have an oversighter right to suppress copyvio, porn and personal attack content pointed at sysops who may check deleted pages and revisions. Other use cases include the suppression of personal information and other possible content, such as gross and blatant vandalism, although User:Big fatty yumi will not be holding OS rights until another discussion in IRC. Wiki URI: scpwikimc.miraheze.org ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) 00:25, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

@ThesenatorO5-2: I'm going to say that'll be a  Not done on your request for local Oversight, and I would kindly remind you that you are currently subject to an indefinite administrator-imposed topic ban on creating RfCs related to local CheckUser and Oversight. Your continuing to request local CheckUser and Oversight skates treacherously close to crossing the line of breaching that topic ban. I would strongly recommend that you drop the stick.
Regarding your local interwiki administrator request, can you please link to the exact location of your election or selection process, naming the candidates for election, number of candidates for election, and any local election or appointment rules you may have? You can use the format [[mh:subdomain:pageName|optional piped link]]. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 00:33, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I will upload a screenshot of the IRC discussion and fully protect that file. ThesenatorO5-2 (talk) 00:38, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
@ThesenatorO5-2: I suppose that may work, since it is on-wiki. Having said that, though, screenshots, as you know, can be altered. So, I cannot guarantee that a steward will accept that. You're welcome to try, if you wish, but I don't want you to be disappointed if it's not accepted, and you have to hold an on-wiki election, as I had suggested. It will only delay things. It shouldn't be took much trouble for your local bureaucrats to stand for election or appointment. Dmehus (talk) 00:44, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Request removal of my wiki creator right

I decided to resign from the wiki creator. Please remove my wiki creator right. Thanks in advance. --そらたこ (talk) 13:31, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

@そらたこ: I have procedurally moved this discussion from Meta:Administrators' noticeboard to Stewards' noticeboard, where it is in now in scope. To your request, is there anything I can do to convince you to remain as a wiki creator? We do need Japanese language wiki creators. Dmehus (talk) 14:19, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Thanks. I requested at AN because wiki creator is meta local right, but I forgot local BC can't modify. I understand we need some Japanese creator, but I can't help. I'm sorry. I nominated Koyomiya5438. I think he will be helpful because he can understand Japanese. --そらたこ (talk) 03:27, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@そらたこ: Thanks, Soratako. I understand completely. If your circumstances change and you are able to again volunteer as a wiki creator, please do consider re-applying, as you will always be welcome. Regarding the wiki creator user right, yeah, it's a Meta local user right, but is granted by a steward since it was established established by a global RfC. No worries, though. I'm sure a steward will tend to your request soon. Thanks again for your service, and I will vote in Koyomiya5438's permissions request later today. Dmehus (talk) 14:53, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Delete this defamatory page

Hello. I am here to tell you that rotten websites wiki has a page on Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust and it is filled with lies, bias, and it is defamatory and they refuse to delete the page so can you delete it and possibly prevent it from being recreated? Ram bad (talk) 18:28, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Could someone perform a CheckUser on ChimpPan

A steward should do that because ChimpPan is a possible RollOverTheFloor sock because of the followings:

  • Used to be tame at first but slowly deteriorated to vandals
  • Acts ghetto (saying the N-word and having sentences sounding like a southern accent)
  • Being rude to others (called Trevor807 a hypocritical retard)
  • Highly defensive over edits.
  • Vandalizes pages by undoing user edits

So he might possibly be ban evading. --Hookuai (Talk to Nuclear Jaws) 19:39, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Can you please close down The New Reception Wiki?

That wiki is a rip-off of various reception wikis, the pages there are just copy pasted from the wikis they ripped off (hell even most of the templates and pictures are not included). In addition to that, every page that was created in the early days aren’t locked for editing and moving, that causing vandals to vandalize the wiki, even dome of the pages are moved into NULL pages. The creator, Maddox121 cannot handle criticism as he blocks his critics with an expiration date of 7 millennia, 9 centuries, 7 decades, 8 years, 364 days, 8 hours, 2 minutes and 24 seconds. To make a conclusion, the wiki was solely created to excuse Maddox’s block. In other words, he’s evading his ban by making a rip-off wiki. - MeMeGuYWasLost (talk) 19:39, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Comment: @MeMeGuYWasLost: I would point out that nothing precludes there being two wikis covering the same topic, or two wikis done differently. Even substantially similar wikis can exist subject to steward mediation. See Content Policy for the details. In short, there is not likely to be a quick resolution to this. I would suggest you and Maddox121 keep to your separate wikis and try not to interact with each other on Meta. Dmehus (talk) 19:49, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Delete-toobig

Please delete this page. Thanks! Ora & D (talk) 00:16, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

@Ora & D: To make sure I'm understanding you correctly, you just want that page deleted, either by a steward or a Global Sysop, because the page size is too large and it's taking too long for it to load, preventing you from deleting it locally, do I have that right? Dmehus (talk) 00:43, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
Because I don't have the permission to delete it myself. Ora & D (talk) 08:52, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Ora & D: That's fair, but usually, Global Sysops prefer that local administration has been asked first in terms of requesting deletion. Have you already done that? Also, I'm a little confused as you've linked to דף on smallvillewiki in your original request and MediaWiki:Delete-toobig on templatewiki in your reply. Which page are you wanting deleted? If the latter case, the local administrators on templatewiki are usually pretty active, and would probably ask at that their community portal. Dmehus (talk) 14:59, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
I have Sysop permissions in smallvillewiki, yet I can't delete this page. I get this error. That's all. Ora & D (talk) 15:09, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Ora & D: Ah, thanks, that's what I thought you might've meant, actually. This sounds like something that might require a Phabricator task, or just a {{ping}} to a system administrator. So, I'm going to {{ping}} @Reception123: to this thread. Dmehus (talk) 15:28, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
@Ora & D: I've just heard back from Reception123, who confirmed that this is actually within steward purview, so they should be along shortly. Please monitor this thread weekly, and {{ping}} me to relist if you haven't heard from them in more than a week, so I can relist to prevent archiving. Dmehus (talk) 15:41, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @Ora & D: I noticed you changed the page in question from this page to this page. Same page, same page history to be exact. I moved it. Ora & D (talk) 17:05, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
Ah, thanks, I wondered if you'd renamed/moved it. That's interesting that you're not locally restricted from moving pages with too many revisions, just deleting. Anyway, I've messaged a steward privately on Discord. Dmehus (talk) 17:12, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

CheckUser request

There's a user called Demino who I'm suspecting is a sockpuppet of a certain user. Demino acts very similar to this user, has very similar beliefs and opinions, started to show up when the user was blocked, and suddenly disappeared when the user was unblocked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeciduousWater534 (talkcontribs) 18:07, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

@DeciduousWater534: You've linked to the one user, but you need to say who you suspect the sockpuppet is, and you should also link to specific behavioural evidence. A steward may well decline your request as insufficient for the requirements of a CheckUser check. Please also make sure you sign all your talk page and noticeboard postings with four tildes (~~~~). In this case, patroller @CircleyDoesExtracter: has added it for you this time. Dmehus (talk) 18:38, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

Oh whoops, I knew I was forgetting something. Anyways, the certain user I'm talking about is Inkster. Here is some evidence that makes me highly suspect Demino is a sockpuppet: Both ignited an edit war on this page for the exact same reason. Demino's account was created shortly after Inkster got blocked on Crappy Games Wiki, and went inactive once Inkster got unblocked. Is this enough evidence? If not, then I can provide more. --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 19:58, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

@DeciduousWater534: That's probably better, I would say, and you've articulated a timeline that would at least be reasonable for a steward to examine recent contributions. It's usually best to link to specific diffs (see my global.js file on line 5 that you can copy to yours which makes this process easier). It simplifies the investigative work for stewards, but if the contributions are recent and glaringly obvious, they may investigate those pages for you. Dmehus (talk) 20:06, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
I would try to use what you suggested, but I don't know what it does nor how to use it. --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 22:35, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
@Deciduous534: Okay, no problem. First, go to my global.js file and copy and paste this line (mw.loader.load("//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Enterprisey/diff-permalink.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript"); // Backlink: [[User:Enterprisey/diff-permalink.js]]) into your global.js or common.js file (whichever you are using; the former will allow you to use it on all Miraheze wikis). Next, click on the "prev" link next to the diff you want to link to. You should then see a diff link following Permalink to this diff:. If you go into the specific revision permalink, you will see Permalink to this oldid:. Either is one, but diffs are nice as they show the previous and current changes. Now, when linking to a given wiki, you'll want to format it as [[mh:subdomain:Special:Diff/123456|optional piped link]], since you're linking to that diff on another wiki. It should be that simple. I am going to also {{ping}} @CircleyDoesExtracter: to this response, so he can see how to use the diff page versus the permalink. Either is totally fine; it just depends on the specific use case and what you're doing. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 05:31, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
Alright, I added the line to my global.js, but what am I supposed to do with [[mh:subdomain:Special:Diff/123456|optional piped link]]?

Nevermind, I figured it out, but using the tool did very little in helping me gather evidence. --DeciduousWater534 (talk) 18:26, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Can you close this wiki please

The wiki is named Common Sense Wiki and it is filled with bias and false claims about the reception wikis, the founder of the wiki General I80 is also an SJW and falsely blocks innocent people, General I80 also defended Zenko so can you please close the wiki please, thank you. Here’s the link https://commonsensewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Reception_Wikis (remember that the reception wikis page is biased and filled with false claims) - HellLord 06:57, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

@HellLord: A few things. First, there are problems with all Reception wikis, of which Common Sense Wiki is just one. Second, you've provided no evidence of violations of global policies, such as the Code of Conduct or Content Policy. Claims of "whiteknighting" are claims of locally-contrived rule contraventions, which have no basis in our established global policies. As such, as it stands, your complaint is thus invalid. Additionally, I would caution you against making unsubstantiated reports of problems on one or more wikis, either by providing no evidence but, more importantly, where no global policy violation has taken place, as repeated unsubstantiated claims may, itself, contravene the Code of Conduct. Third, thank you for finally fixing the timestamp format of your signature to comply with established guidelines. Dmehus (talk) 13:47, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Add TheTopTens to global external link blacklist

Following a discussion with @RhinosF1: on Discord discussing the idea of globally blacklisting TheTopTens to prevent all users, not just non-autoconfirmed users, from linking to that website on Miraheze, he encouraged me to raise it on Stewards' noticeboard for attention by a steward. The rationale behind blacklisting it to all users is really three-fold:

  1. No known organization is publicly listed as being behind the website; any references in its terms of use and privacy policy are just to "TheTopTens," which is problematic for being unable to contact the website owner in the event of problematic user submitted content linked to from Miraheze;
  2. It is a pure play SEO spam website, with absolutely zero useful content that would be even remotely useful to link to; and, most critically,
  3. It has been used a method by which problematic Miraheze users have posted forms of harassment about other Miraheze users.

Whether we add this to an existing or new global abuse filter, or to an external links MediaWiki configuration file on GitHub, I'm agnostic as to which approach we use; however, principally, the reason for blacklisting it is that if we stop the ability to link to a frequent method by which LTAs post problematic content about Miraheze users, we stop, or at least make more difficult, the ability of LTAs to link to that content. Relisting pending steward attention. Dmehus (talk) 01:41, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I'm putting this [contributing to this discussion] because I've been seeing a rapid increase of Miraheze users making hate lists about users and the site itself like "Reasons why Miraheze is Awful" or "Worst Reception Wiki Users". Not to mention that these lists are nothing but biased trash that's full of hate and toxicity. What's my Proposal?

  1. Ban the creation of any wiki relating to TheTopTens for at least a month and ban pages on them forever to prevent drama.
  2. Especially on the negative wikis like Toxic Fandoms and Hatedoms Wiki, Rotten Website Wiki or Rogues' Gallery of the Internet. These are probably the reason why some users make these kind of lists on the site.
  3. Spammers who advertise the site or People who harass or hate on users who hate this site should be banned forever.
  4. I did this one because there are some users on here who slander other users (especially Se, Voltsue and Portrock1566) because they rightfully banned someone who evades their bans via comments and lists (Also on Reasons why Miraheze is Awful, you'll see a lot of anonymous users who even WANT US TO DIE! That was the last straw for me).

I hope you accept this [this discussion] Madelinefan138 (talk) 05:15, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

@Fomantisboy35: Thank you for this good-faith attempt at an RfC. It probably would've been a reasonable RfC; however, we do already have an external links blacklist, which is coordinated by stewards. And, incidentally, I'd already started this SN request. So, I've merged your RfC into this thread. Hopefully, stewards will see it soon, and be able to add this beyond useless, spammy site to the blacklist. Dmehus (talk) 16:18, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
