For the WikiDiscover can you add movie's as a Category and also add tv show's Please this would make it easier for users interested In those kind of wiki's to find them? --Cocopuff2018 15:37, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

@Cocopuff2018: Did you hear back from a Steward or System Administrator? If so, do you know what the result was? If not, let me know, and I'll try escalating this for you. Dmehus (talk) 00:28, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Delete this wiki

Please delete this wiki https://en.wikireserve.com BhanuSrivastav (talk) 01:11, 27 May 2020‎

@BhanuSrivastav: Sorry for the delay in responding. I do see that you and the other two bureaucrats on that wiki have not issued any log actions or edits since you made this request. Normally, wikis will be deleted in a semi-automated process, per Dormancy Policy. You have, however, requested deletion, so I'll created Phab ticket #T5720 for one of the Stewards or System Administrators to follow up with you and confirm that you still want to see early deletion. Delete reversecrummyscratchers.miraheze.org

Hi Stewards! Looks like reversecrummyscratchers is in no use because CSW is closing down, and I will close this wiki. Can you shut down? Thank you. CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 20:12, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

It looks like this one has been done as well. See @Void:'s response below. Dmehus (talk) 01:12, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Unban Championgamer1Playz's IP

Title. Some guy shares their IP with each other, so can you unban it? Just Amelia (talk) 17:21, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Just Amelia The Stewards will need more detail on this. Because of the sensitive nature of the request, can you please e-mail stewards[at]miraheze.org, quoting details of the specific wiki, linking to relevant username(s) and edit diffs? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 01:51, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Please send a list of all public wikis to WikiTeam

I tried to add three of my wikis to the list of Miraheze wikis at WikiTeam's GitHub but was asked by nemobis for complete list of Miraheze wikis instead of a few patches at a time. Please could an admin send them a current list of all the public Miraheze wikis? --Rob Kam (talk) 20:12, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

@Rob Kam: Would Special:WikiDiscover work? I'm not sure if it would be all public wikis, as some may have specifically requested to be unlisted, but since it's tied in with the Miraheze wiki creation extensions, it should be automatically updated. Selecting "uncategorised" appears to list all the wikis, regardless of category. Dmehus (talk) 20:44, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
That's multiple lists, from there it would require too much fiddling about to get a single list of all public wikis in all languages. --Rob Kam (talk) 21:28, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

DMBFFF (talk) 18:10, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

The error says your namespace uses an unknown content model. Can you go to Special:ManageWiki/namespaces on your wiki, then select the Poem namespace and Submit? Then check "What should this namespace's content model be?" and try to change the content model to "Wikitext", like it should be. Then "Submit" at ⧼namespaces-handling⧽ tab. --stranger195 (talkcontribsguestbook) 06:04, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Infobox

I want exact same infobox like Wikipedia with this light grey background box for my wiki Gyaanipedia Please help me Shaunak Chakraborty (talk) 01:03, 5 June 2020 Timestamp added for Shaunak Chakraborty by Dmehus (talk) 15:10, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

@Shaunak Chakraborty: Did you manage to figure out a solution to your question? Also, when you sign your posts, please remember to use ~~~~ to include a timestamp—a bot archives threads based on that; using only three tildes produces only your username and talk page links. Nevertheless, what you need to do is find that exact Wikipedia infobox on any Wikipedia page (there's lots of infoboxes), then click "edit" on that page, check for the name of the infobox template being transcluded, and then type in in the search box on Wikipedia, "Template:<Name of infobox>," where "Name of infobox" is the specific infobox being called for with a capitalized initial character. Once you've found that, you'll want to "edit source" or "view source" (depending on whether it's protected—and it probably is, unless you're a template editor on English Wikipedia) and check for any related templates it may be calling for, to see whether you need those too or already have those.
Once you've finished here, head over to Special:Export, on English Wikipedia, and enter the exact page name include namespace prefix of the template you want to export (if exporting multiple templates, you can enter one per line). You can either export the most recent revision(s), or all revisions. Since there are subtleties in CreativeCommons license versions that English Wikipedia and Miraheze use, a best practice is to export all revisions. This will generate an XML file containing all the revisions.
Now, on your wiki, you'll want to go to the Special:Import page, and import the XML using the file upload method (I find it easier) by locating the XML file you downloaded. For the interwiki prefix, which is used for linking to the English Wikipedia users' pages and talk pages, enter w:. Most likely, the English Wikipedia users don't have local Miraheze accounts, so you can decide whether to associate the contributors' usernames with their Miraheze usernames (if they exist locally), though there's a Miraheze Phabricator ticket with doing this (@Southparkfan: can perhaps clarify if that bug is still outstanding), so I recommend leaving it unchecked, at least for now. I usually import it to the default locations (Template: namespace, in this case), as I can always move it without leaving a redirect afterword, but feel free to try the other options, if you prefer. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:01, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

@Shaunak Chakraborty: I've confirmed with @Void: that's okay to make CheckUser requests on SN, so I'm just replying to say that, for faster service, you may wish to send a Discord message to @stewards, citing the applicable usernames and either relevant diffs or the behavioural reasons for your suspicions to warrant a check. Please delete assistivecybernetics.miraheze.org

No longer needed. I've deleted all pages and marked it closed. Miraheze is a great service! Cheers. Sbp (talk) 11:11, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

@Sbp: We're sorry to see you close down your wiki. Ordinarily, marking your wiki as 'closed' will put in place a semi-automated process for full wiki deletion; however, perhaps because you've deleted all files, including those in the MediaWiki namespace, that may have interrupted that process. Please see phab:T5722 ticket for the updates and action(s) taken by the Steward and System Administrator team. Dmehus (talk) 01:49, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

@Void: Thanks, and no worries! @John:, sorry about submitting the Phabricator tickets; it's just that I've seen Phabricator tickets for renamings and wiki deletion requests having been submitted in the past. Honestly, though, I'm wondering why we don't just create a "Stewards" task group on Miraheze Phabricator for such things. I think it would streamline the handling of these requests. Perhaps you could give consideration to it? Dmehus (talk) 03:40, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Exception dormancy policy

Hi. I would like to request that my wiki Ucronias (ucronias.miraheze.org) have an exception to the inactivity policy. Although my wiki doesn't have enough articles, in other name spaces it has and will have useful resources about what my wiki is about that I would like to preserve. Also that I may have unedited periods (to focus on other projects). Hispano76 (talk) 03:17, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

@Hispano76: My read of the dormancy policy seems to indicate that the only way the shorter 30 day inactivity policy comes into play is when your wiki has literally zero contributions (and thus, pages) in your wiki's Main: namespace. As long as you a customized Main Page and perhaps one other page in that namespace, you should be fine. You could even have cross-namespace soft redirects to your pages in your other namespaces and that should qualify you for only having to be concerned with the standard 45 day inactivity policy. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:40, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I know that, but it's not enough for me and I'm avoiding redirections as much as possible. I want to focus on other projects without worrying about inactivity of Wiki. Hispano76 (talk) 19:39, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
@Hispano76: Okay, fair enough. I figured you knew how to avoid the inactivity rules, but just wasn't sure if maybe we were reading the policy differently. I have no objections to your wiki being exempt from the Dormancy Policy, though I haven't looked at it personally. I trust there's sufficient content there, regardless of namespace, that people would want to regularly read. Dmehus (talk) 20:45, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
@Hispano76: This has now been done. -- Void Whispers 22:46, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Interwiki Links

I recently imported two wikis (both related to the Homestar Runner cartoon series) from Referata to Miraheze, and I'd like to restore some of the interwiki links from the original sites.

Add to both Homestar Runner Fanon and The Broternal Wiki:
hrfwiki2: https://hrfwiki2.miraheze.org/wiki/$1

Add to The Broternal Wiki only:
forum: http://broternal.freeforums.net/$1

In addition, I'd like the Homestar Runner Fanstuff Wiki 2 interwiki link "hrfanon" to be changed to the new site:
hrfanon: https://hrfanon.miraheze.org/wiki/$1

Thanks! Gfdgsgxgzgdrc (talk) 22:56, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

This seems reasonable. I will {{ping}} several of the interwiki administrators, @CnocBride, Hispano76, and Shaunak Chakraborty:, to respond to your request. Thank you for formulating the request properly, @Gfdgsgxgzgdrc:. Dmehus (talk) 03:41, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Please Delete This Wiki

Hey Please Delete This Wiki https://awesomewiki.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Codeingit (talkcontribs) 08:21, 12 June 2020‎

@Codeingit: First, please remember to sign your posts with ~~~~ as a bot archives the threads based on the timestamps in the threads. I've added an {{unsigned}} signature for you this time. Second, while you can request early wiki closure, the stewards are presently backlogged in requests. Since, as bureaucrat, you have access to Special:ManageWiki on your wiki to change your wiki's status from 'inactive' or 'closed' to 'open', it holds that you can also change its status to 'closed'. By marking it as closed, it will be deleted in accordance with the Dormancy Policy, requiring no immediate action from stewards at this point. If you still wish to accelerate closure for other reason, I'd suggest pinging a steward on Discord or e-mailing stewards[at]miraheze.org, replacing [at] with the ampersand (@) character. Dmehus (talk) 16:50, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
Well it will take a while for it to be deleted under the Dormancy Policy. A steward should be able to get to it soon normally. Reception123 (talk) (C) 05:40, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Can somebody globally ban this user

M619oha7m13ed wouldn't stop blanking pages in Terrible TV Shows Wiki and when other people tell him not to blank pages, he still does it. And can you check if M204o68ha278m204ed is a sock of M6190ha7m13ed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarbiz (talkcontribs) 19:34, 13 June 2020

@Tarbiz: Do you have any evidence this user is taking the vandalism cross-wiki? Assuming there are active administrators on Terrible TV Shows Wiki, this wouldn't then need steward involvement. Just issue your warning or sanction, including a local block, in accordance with Terrible TV Shows Wiki's local policies. If the concern is that the two users are related, I would personally just reach out to a steward privately IRC or Discord, citing their similar usernames and other behavioural evidence, privately, and then the steward may decide on appropriate sanctions, which could include blocking account creation from a range of IP addresses, global locking, or other sanctions. Personally, if they created only two users on one wiki, just tag them as suspected (since you can't prove it with IP evidence; you can only rely on behavioural DUCK-like evidence) sockpuppet accounts and block them locally. If it persists with further account creations, then private message a steward. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:42, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Here Dmehus, look at the links
https://terribletvshows.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/M619oha7m13ed
https://terribletvshows.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/M204o68ha278m204ed
@Tarbiz: I agree that all of that page blanking from both accounts, both using mobile devices, is definitely DUCK-like behaviour, but since it seems to just be targeting both those wikis, on which both are now indefinitely locally blocked, I'm not sure this needs steward involvement. If they go cross-wiki to other wikis, then yes. And, if they start creating more accounts, then we may need to have a steward perform a CheckUser to confirm and, if needed, globally block and tag and/or block of range of IPs. Dmehus (talk) 19:08, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Sockpuppetry that occurs many times is definitely a steward issue. The steward has a tool called CheckUser that they can use to see the IP(s) where the accounts are coming from and then they can block them. -EK📝🌎 19:27, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
@Examknow: Yeah, I wasn't trying to suggest that it wasn't a steward issue, but rather, was just saying that since it only involved two seemingly closely related wikis and two accounts, that perhaps all that's needed is for a steward to perform a CheckUser and globally lock the sockpuppet account, not the original account, provided the original account holder does not and/or pledges not to create any further accounts for the sole purpose of evading local blocks or sanctions and that any other accounts created should be disclosed (ideally via their global user page). Hope that clarifies. Dmehus (talk) 21:05, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Those listed accounts, as well as ten others, have been confirmed to each other and locked. -- Void Whispers 22:27, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Global block request for Princess ash fan and their 3 alt accounts

Accounts that they own:

  • Princess ash fan

  • Princess ash is awesome
  • Ashcorn433

these accounts were created on Atrocious YouTubers wiki and were banned due to abusing multiple accounts. Feel free to block the accounts listed above. Agent Joestar (talk) 22:01, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

There are no edits on any of those accounts. Simply having multiple accounts isn't generally an offense we'd globally ban users for. Is there another account that has edits that isn't listed? -- Void Whispers 22:19, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Please block a user globally

Please globally block "Ratava12" for violation of the Terms of Service by uploading https://allthetropes.org/wiki/File:Pain5.jpg

Once you've looked at that image, please delete it. We don't want it on the wiki.

--Robkelk (talk) 00:50, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

@Robkelk: Why do you want this user's account to be globally locked, when they have only contributed to that wiki and no others? Indeed, per Special:CentralAuth/Ratava12, they only have attached accounts on All the Tropes (on which they're indefinitely blocked already), and Login and Meta wikis (required for coordination and logistical purposes and on which they're showing no activity). Do you have evidence of sockpuppetry? Otherwise, I tend to think this is moot/handled locally. Hope that helps.
Edit: How can I unsee that image? Why can't you guys delete that image locally? I'm sure All the Tropes, the busiest wiki on Miraheze, has active local admins, no?
Added comment: On second thought, I guess it couldn't hurt to globally lock the account, with a notification to the user via e-mail and/or their user talk page not to create any accounts to circumvent the block and that they can be unblocked, but only once they've shown they understand our global policies by paraphrasing the key points with respect to the kinds of acceptable content. Dmehus (talk) 00:58, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
The request for a global block was because of the violation of Miraheze's Terms of Service. As for not deleting the image, the last time we had something like this happen, we deleted the image before reporting the Terms of Service violation, and were told that there was no evidence that there was a Terms of Service violation. we had to leave the image up until a Steward had seen it. we'll delete it now if you haven't already. --Robkelk (talk) 01:07, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Robkelk: Ah, that makes sense, sort of. Shouldn't a steward be able to see the the deleted revision, though? I'd have to look at the global permissions for stewards, but I assume so. Nonetheless, given the grossness of the image in question and how out of project scope it is for All the Tropes wiki, I'd support a global locking, provided the user is sufficently warned not to try and evade the block and that if they can show evidence they understand the terms of service and fly right, then they may be able to be globally unlocked (though not locally unblocked, of course, as that'd be subject to your local wiki rules). Hope that helps. Thanks for reporting and clarifying! (For clarity, I'm not a steward...just trying to help out by responding to requests that don't need stewards' attention. This does.) Dmehus (talk) 01:16, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Done, by leaving a notice and explanation on the account's Talk page. --Robkelk (talk) 01:26, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Do be sure to delete those kinds of images if you find them, it's best not to keep them around. A report is good enough for me (I've seen this fellow before). -- Void Whispers 01:24, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Void: Deleted and overwritten so that casual editors can't see it. --Robkelk (talk) 01:26, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
The account has been globally locked, also note that you may want to place some longer-duration local blocks on those three IP ranges I just globalled, as they are all related to the abuse you've been dealing with recently. -- Void Whispers 01:32, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Robkelk: Sounds good. That notice on the user's talk page was perfect; couldn't be more clear. Great that @Void: actioned this quickly, and also that you've suppressed the deleted revision from normal administrators. Now, if only I can unsee that... Dmehus (talk) 02:53, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Void:, I don't see global blocks on the wiki-specific Blocked users page or the Block log. I give you permission to extend the IP range blocks on All The Tropes to a full year (if they aren't that long already). --Robkelk (talk) 03:00, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Robkelk: I just clicked on that link again to make sure it was deleted, and I still see the thumbnail in the version history. I'm wondering if maybe you've either (a) only deleted the file page or (b) only deleted the file itself? Dmehus (talk) 03:04, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Thumbnails don't clear instantly. It seems to be fine so, if not, clear your cache. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:24, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Deleted, re-created with the null image, and purged, in that order. Check your local cache. --Robkelk (talk) 11:19, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@RhinosF1 and Robkelk: Okay, fair enough. I've tried purging the server cache three times and clearing my local web history twice for *.allthetropes.org twice, both the File: page still shows up as does the image file that's hosted on static.miraheze.org. I don't really want to try it again as I really don't want to have to keep seeing that gross image. Could it be a caching problem with Miraheze's content delivery network that should be resolved in the next 24 hours or so? I had a similar problem with the Senate of Canada seating plan image that was hosted on the Wikimedia Commons earlier this year. After a few days, as I recall, it eventually resolved itself, and the newer revision was shown. Dmehus (talk) 15:02, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: This is what I see, as of 15:35 UTC: File:Screengrab - ATT - file pain5jpg 2020-06-15-1535UTC.JPG Unless you haven't cleared your cache for static.miraheze.org, I don't know why you don't see a black box. --Robkelk (talk) 15:43, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@Robkelk: Yeah, that thumbnail from the screenshot is what I see at mh:allthetropes:File:Carcass - Reek Of Putrefaction.jpg, but not at the "pain5" one. It seems like it might an intermediary caching issue, between me and allthetropes.org. It sounds like you've deleted the image and page correctly as you and @RhinosF1: don't see it. RhinosF1 is talking to paladox on IRC, so hopefully we can get it resolved for me (and, potentially, other Canadians). At least for most/nearly all people, it seems to be resolved. Global block request for SaintChristmas, AKA Akumu.

I am requesting this because this user (SaintChristmas) made this account specifically to harass me and Kesner (who is an admin on Atrocious YouTubers wiki) for no good reason. Here is proof of him messaging me. Kesner also told me that he couldn't find the message SaintChristmas sent him but it said "You blocked me on Discord after shit talking. I'll give you another chance. Or you want me to make a video mentioning your Brony ass?". If you didn't notice, SaintChristmas is trying to blackmail Kesner into having a VC on Discord with him, or else SaintChristmas will namedrop Kesner in an upcoming video talking about his page and the Kiwi Farms thread and possibly open a window of harrassment towards him. This isn't the first time SaintChristmas/Akumu was found to be harassing people online, as he harassed a 15-year-old artist named Slimurz a couple of months ago on Twitter to the point where she had to private her account (here is proof again). There are other things that SaintChristmas has done (in fact, there's a lot of stuff he did), such as being transphobic and calling Slimurz a dumbass, but it'll make this post very long. Feel free to block this user because I want him to leave Kesner alone.

EDIT: this user also has a sockpuppet account named Akumu. Also feel free to ban that account too

The Amazing Scratch Projects Wiki abuse case

I have not seen this case detailed before, so I am going to be bold and bring to the table what I found in the matter.

A few days ago, I stumbled across one of those new "reception wikis", particularly the Bad Scratch Wiki and decided to contribute. Reception wikis like these are everywhere, good or bad.

Soon, I then noticed some suspicious activity on the main page's talk-page. After finding some of the users responsible, it led me to a site known as the Amazing Scratch Projects wiki.

There was also a user, PowerDagger15, who had attempted to vandalise the wiki before being blocked (and later said "Wpetoi is a jerk, he blocked us on that wiki"[2]). I also later learnt that the same user was an administrator on the Amazing Scratch Projects wiki.

Then, some of the users started to I made a blog that told people to not raid the wiki as I had correctly suspected. The same administrator who vandalised this wiki, PowerDagger15, deleted the blog post shortly after it was made (although another admin, WickyHoney, restored it).

I later learned that this was due to a previous wiki, the Crummy Scratchers Wiki, which was reportedly targeting users and somehow caused PowerDagger15 and a few others to be banned from scratch, before the wiki was eventually shut down. To note, the Bad Scratch Wiki is owned and operated by Wpetoi, which was not at all connected to the administration of the Crummy Scratchers Wiki and its creation.

I'll add more to this if relevant. Dibbydib (talk) 08:58, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Bro, are you this angry about your wiki? This wiki should be closed down and you should get off the steward's noticeboard. Plus I regretted what I did. Please convince Wpetoi to close the wiki because the ST will assume its us again. - PowerDagger15
Are you trying to globally block me? - PowerDagger15
I only vandalized the wiki to close it down. In reality I wouldn't do that - PowerDagger15
I only vandalized the wiki to close it down. In reality I wouldn't do that: That's not how that works. Dibbydib (talk) 23:19, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Yes it does - PowerDagger15

@Dibbydib: Crummy Scratchers Wiki's purpose was never meant to target or attack anyone, and we (mainly me, Pacsonic9000, BlairTheAnimator, and Madelinefan101) deleted any harassment article and blocked anyone that used the wiki to target others. The Scratch Team overreacted and blocked a widespread of users on Scratch merely because they had slight or huge involvement on the wiki, because rumors said the wiki has meant to harass scratchers, even though it's intended purpose was to provide valid criticism. While the wiki could have been seen as exposing, I believe the same applies to Bad Scratch Wiki, because it's public as well. The Scratch Team will most likely believe that this new wiki is also for harassment, even though it may not be. I believe it's best that Bad Scratch Wiki is deleted, and just so you know RacerIIIFury's article was copied from CSW (it's an early version, but still), so that doesn't really help the case of Bad Scratch Wiki. WickyHoney (talk) 17:51, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
@Sinma15191: I agree with WickyHoney. I think the reason why the Scratch Team accepted the rumors is that the rumors came from extremely popular Scratchers.

Spam-only accounts that need locking

On Rotten Websites Wiki, a bunch of spam accounts keep on arriving and creating spam pages. Here's the link to the spam-only accounts (it's only the first nine accounts listed):

Inactivity exemption for Industrial Robotics & Automation (mh142.com)

Hello. I would like to request an exception to the dormancy/inactive policy for Industrial Robotics & Automation (mh142.com). This wiki is set up as a free open alternative for the very expensive textbooks for the classes I teach, to save the students from having to purchase one. The classes sometimes run every other semester and may not need editing when the class is not in session. I do not wish to lose the work I have put into it while I focus my efforts into other courses between the robotics courses. Mike138 (talk) 20:13, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Restore the negative Scratch Reception Wikis

I know the wikis were deleted due to a flame war started by Life_Tutor. In case you know, here are the links to the wikis' main page:

Crummy Scratchers Wiki: https://crummyscratchers.miraheze.org/wiki/Crummy_Scratchers_Wiki

Crappy Scratch Projects Wiki: https://crappyscratchprojects.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

Vapid Scratch Studios Wiki: https://vapidscratchstudios.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

Reverse Crummy Scratchers Wiki: https://reversecrummyscratchers.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page
If those wikis get restored, then the RCSPW and RVSSW wikis will be created.

Can't access wiki that was created for me - sbcgaming.miraheze.org

Hey there, I had an sbcgaming.miraheze.org wiki created, but never used it. I tried to use it now, but it doesn't seem to exist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperJimmyRustles (talkcontribs) 15:10, 22 June 2020

@SuperJimmyRustles:, per the Dormancy Policy, wikis that are inactive for so long, without any log actions or edits, are marked as inactive. After a further period, they are marked as closed, and it's it as this stage they are eligible for adoption. If no one requests to adopt a wiki or the stewards don't otherwise allow it to be adopted, wikis are eventually purged from the system. I have checked with a steward, @Void:, who confirmed that this does appear to be the case as neither of us saw this wiki in the Special:WikiDiscover special page. You can request to have your wiki recreated, and it's possible Miraheze may still have a backup of your database. Void said to check with @Reception123: or another system administrator to see if there's still a backup of your database. I've gone ahead and {{ping}}ed Reception123 to this thread, to see if he can check if there's a backup, should you wish your wiki be recreated. Also, I have gone ahead and added and added an {{unsigned}} signature for you—please try and sign all your posts with ~~~~ as a bot archives threads according to the timestamps. Also, it's nice for us to put a name to a question. ;-) Dmehus (talk) 22:40, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus Thanks for the quick response. There was nothing really that needed to be backed up, and I never put anything in there. I was thinking of migrating the stuff from wikidot over. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperJimmyRustles (talkcontribs) 15:52, 22 June 2020
@SuperJimmyRustles: Oh, okay, no problem then. You should be able to just go the Main Page and create a new wiki, either with the previous hostname or a new hostname—your choice! Also, thanks for signing your reply, but I had to fix it as you included <nowiki></nowiki> around your comment, so the tildes weren't converted to your signature. ;-) Dmehus (talk) 23:20, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Restore the Crummy Scratchers Wiki, the Reverse Crummy Scratchers Wiki, the Crappy Scratch Projects Wiki, and the Vapid Scratch Studios Wiki

I believe that those wikis should be restored because it has been my Miraheze career for the entire month of May. Also, they were deleted because of a flame war started by Life_Tutor. If the wiki is restored, then Life_Tutor's IP address should be banned permanently for harassing the admins. Life_Tutor also has a high risk of getting banned permanently. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sinma15191 (talkcontribs) 10:53, 10 June 2020‎

@Sinma15191: Please do not restore these wikis because it can get us permabanned on Scratch. CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 15:53, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

A problem with spammers on RWW

Recently on Rotten Websites Wiki, spam-only accounts are constantly being created, even after multiple have been globally locked. Is there anything that can be done to prevent these accounts from coming back? --Seewater514 (talk) 19:59, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

I'm doing what I can right now, I have an idea for an abuse filter or a modification to an existing one, but for now, the best option we have is to continue locking the accounts and banning their ISP globally. -- Void Whispers 21:32, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

The user SilviaGunner is a clear violation of a popular youtuber of a Similar similar name so would be fine to lock this user for a name violation?Μπέλα2006 (talk) 15:46, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

@Μπέλα2006: In my interpretation of the Username Policy the impersonation clause is implied to pertain to other wiki users, not to anyone in the world so I would not say action is needed in my view. Though Stewards have the final word. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:58, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Please delete this wiki that recreated a wiki that was deleted for a reason.

This wiki: https://badscratch.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page is recreating Crummy Scratchers Wiki which we had to delete in order to get unblocked. If the Scratch Team discovers this wiki, then we will never be unblocked. We already had to contact FANDOM to take down a different recreation of Crummy Scratchers Wiki which is now down and this one must be down too. Pacsonic9000 (talk) 16:29, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

@Pacsonic9000: I'm confused. I'm not seeing you listed on mh:badscratch:Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat. In order to request early deletion, all bureaucrats, or at least those in the wiki's highest permission category with access to mh:badscratch:Special:ManageWiki would need to consent to early deletion. What am I missing? Dmehus (talk) 00:54, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Bad Scratch Wiki is related to Crummy Scratchers Wiki, which is deleted, and we need to be unblocked on Scratch, Because we must delete CSW, including Bad Scratch Wiki. If Scratch Team finds this wiki, we will never be unblocked. CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 01:11, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
@CircleyDoesExtracter: I get that, but a steward like @Void: will want to see evidence that this deletion request has come from the people in charge of the Bad Scratch Wiki. I'm not seeing you or Pacsonic9000 as bureaucrats. You need to have the Bad Scratch Wiki bureaucrats reach out here, or to a steward on IRC/Discord. Dmehus (talk) 01:21, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
However, since there is only one bureaucrat, and I think will not be active, I will consider a steward on Discord. CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 01:24, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Wpetoi was active just today, so for now, I'm going to mark this as not done as a non-steward closure. Dmehus (talk) 02:57, 15 June 2020 (UTC) (Non-steward comment)
Stewards should review this and I have already asked one too. The wiki probably shouldn't have been created in the first place and there will be an upcoming change to the content policy proposed. @Dmehus: Please slow down and stop getting involved in areas you don't understand. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:15, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Hey, I request per the policy the removal of rights from these users:

  • User:Guy vandegrift - Wiki Creator, totally inactive since 2018
  • User:ChipWolf - Wiki Creator, last edit in January 2020, number of created wikis is 0!
  • User:Eduaddad - Wiki Creator, inactive since November 2019, number of created wikis is 7

+ Can be removed 'translator' user group, please? See this link for more info. Thanks,--MrJaroslavik (talk) 17:35, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

@MrJaroslavik: I'd  Support that. They can reapply for rights should they return and, hopefully, the community will reasonably strongly support re-adding rights at that time. I'm wondering if @RhinosF1:'s @RF1 Bot: could be adapted to remove rights based on a steward-protected page here on Meta of inactive users in a similar way that it does over on Public Test Wiki? Dmehus (talk) 21:14, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
The bit that does the removal easily could be. It just takes a list and iterates through it changing the rights as set in the json. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 07:33, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

Add Founder user right to CircleyDoesExtracter in Reverse Rotten Websites Wiki

So I made a user right called Founder on Reverse Rotten Websites Wiki https://reverserottenwebsites.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page, and I can't promote myself to founder. Nevermind. I did it myself. CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 15:54, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
@CircleyDoesExtracter: I figured it should be possible. For clarity, did you amend, temporarily, in Special:ManageWiki the ability for your bureaucrat user group to add the founder user group to an account, and then, when that's done, remove their ability to add or remove the founder user group? You will also want to make sure that, if your bureaucrats have the ability to edit Special:ManageWiki settings, that their permission to change the founder user group is disallowed and limited only to the founder group. @Void and RhinosF1:, can either of you think of anything else CircleyDoesExtracter should do to prevent losing this user group in the future? a page I FUBARed

So I'm a rank amatuer trying to create namespaces.

  • I click, Manage this wiki's namespaces.
  • Next I click a few boxes I think would work.
  • Talk page tab? Do I do anything there? I don't know.
  • I submit it.
  • and it generally works.
  • Today, however, I try to move stuff to the new namespace.
  • It seems to work, but it creates redirects.
  • I try to delete them.
  • Then maybe a few other clicks and I'm mess a few pages up.

I re-create a few pages based on stuff I saved, but really, I should learn how to fix my errors, maybe restore content, and avoid making these kind of mistakes.

Hence I'm here requesting help and some edumacation.

Exception dormancy policy

Hi Stewards,

I'm the (only) bureucrat of Vaccabolario wiki (https://vacca.miraheze.org/) asking it to be exempt by your Dormancy Policy for two reasons: first and most important, being a Dictionary, its contributions will happen as soon as I'll have materials to add so, apart the very first definitions' population, it will happen rarely enough to trigger the Dormancy Policy for sure (but, as you know, a Dictionary's first reason to be is to be read, not too much to be written). The second, lesser reason is, being nearly all text, it will take very little room on your storage, so not harming your servers' structure at all. I'm also learning wiki definitions, how to create wiki pages, templates, etc. so it takes time. Thanks in advance. ElweThor (talk) 08:17, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Again, don't ignore the full picture. You kept demoting Inkster for a poor reason, and you established an unfair rule. You also edit-war with other people, instead of talking it out. You did all of those things and that's why you were demoted. Don't forget the whole picture. You will be promoted again in a month if you behave better. WickyHoney (talk) 16:56, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
You are using the "Demoted a user" as an excuse, i stopped demoting the user even before i was demoted, and the user broke multiple rules, not just one. im requesting the wiki to be deleted as the point of it was to be against abusive admins, however there are abusive admins, it is my fault, i should have watched who got premoted more carefully, but now that there are abusive admins on a wiki that is meant to stop abusive admins, i think it should just be closed altogether, plus i wont even be active on miraheze soon, which i said on my profile. ScratchCoder (talk) 20:08, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
  •  Comment: This is why, if I had a wiki, I would establish a founder role, and policies around that, that could not be removed by anyone but me alone. I would create a role similar to the Consul on Public Test Wiki that would have access to Special:ManageWiki and essentially the same rights as the "founder," with one important exception, they could not remove or change anything to do with the "founder" user group. This is a good reason for thinking your local user groups and developing a local policy, to ensure these sort of usurpations don't happen. That being said, we certainly have many wikis that overlap, significantly, with the scope of other wikis, so perhaps you could formalize a plan to develop a new wiki, similar in scope but different in name. Articulate it well, clearly, and sufficiently thoroughly, and it should be approved. Dmehus (talk) 21:23, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
I actually might do that if i get admin rights back, thanks. ScratchCoder (talk) 21:26, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
As far as your dispute goes about getting your rights back, I know that stewards do have some authority over local wikis, but I generally think it would be limited to, but not usurping, assessing whether your rights were removed in a manner consistent with the local practices on that wiki. I would think their role here would be to examine the history, seeing whether local policies were followed by both parties (including yourself), and trying to come to a mediated resolution. In any event, I would think the best outcome here would be for a steward to play the role of mediator as it obviously seems like a heated situation between both parties, who seem like constructive contributors. Going to {{ping}} @Void: here to look into and see to what extent they can assist both sides here. Dmehus (talk) 21:35, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
Please Keep the wiki open. ScratchCoder (talk) 17:50, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Bureaucrat rights for Abysmal Roblox Games Wiki

I do not know how to reply, and I am mostly confused with the signing, but that's what I meant. Nihirichan (talk) 00:30, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

@Nihirichan: I was just talking to @Void: about this on Discord and, in the course of discussing with him, because this wiki was manually closed by a local bureaucrat, there is a consensus among Void and his steward/system administrator colleagues that wikis aren't available through the normal Requests for adoption process. However, you do have one of two or three options, all handled locally:
  1. Use either Special:EmailUser or the user talk page of the closing bureaucrat or another bureaucrat on that wiki (from Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat on that wiki) and request that they re-open the wiki and add you on as a bureaucrat to adopt it locally;
  2. Hold a local community vote in a prominent location, whether in the discussion forums, on a noticeboard, or some other prominent page, defining the timeframe for voting and any other parameters for a successful vote, to appoint a new bureaucrat on the wiki, in compliance with any local policies, of course, which, from my cursory look, there doesn't appear to be any; or,
  3. Hold a local community vote to adopt the wiki locally, naming new bureaucrats, and deciding whether to discard any absentee or abandoned bureaucrats.
In the case of 2 and 3, you would come back to SN here on Meta, inform the stewards of the location of the vote, and then they will close the discussion and take any actions in absence of any action by a local bureaucrat to effect the results of that vote.
Keep me updated. I'm also willing to stand for temporary bureaucrat on that wiki for the purposes of helping you guys to more fully develop your local policies governing local adoptions and appointments processes, to eliminate situations like this in the future, if requested. I can't commit to staying on as a bureaucrat on that wiki longer term, though. Dmehus (talk) 02:42, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Hey can somebody delete my account please?

I don't want to be associated with the wikis anymore, please. Ramadhan1a (talk) 04:39, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Accounts can’t be deleted, but I suppose the Stewards can lock your account so that you can’t use it. That’s what happened to Grust. How’s that sound? WickyHoney (talk) 05:26, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

That sounds nice I guess Ramadhan1a 06:14, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Comment: WickyHoney is correct that, unfortunately, accounts cannot be deleted, but could, potentially, be locked. It may also be possible to rename your account to a random hash, similar to Wikimedia's vanished user policy. @Void:, we may not have a specific policy on vanishing, but it seems reasonable as it's common sense. Possible lock for this user I mentioned

Hello. I am CircleyDoesExtracter.

As I looked on Rotten Websites Wiki. I saw some suspicious activity.

I then looked at the recent changes. There's a user named "JEWICIDE". I see the pages with zero changes. When I expand more, I see some vandalism. There's many evil changes like the changes that repeatedly say the F word multiple times. I even see the name is very racist. It means "Suicide to jews". That's very racist to those people. He also vandalizes many pages on RWW, like the TheTopTens page. Anyways, stewards, can you consider locking JEWICIDE? CircleyDoesExtracter (talk) 22:58, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Nonciclopedia (nonciclopedia.org): official request to Miraheze staff

Hello,

Wedhro recently left the site, so there are no active bureaucrats there. I would like to ask you to: - remove admin rights to Nevermindfc, as he is inactive; - add bureaucrat rights to Fantinaikos, the only active admin; - remove bureaucrat rights Paladox, as a bureaucrat is the one who is administrating this site, and he is not active.

Thanks. - [hidden IP]

Dormancy policy exemption to Circleyverse Wiki

Hello stewards.

I am the owner of Circleyverse Wiki (https://circleyverse.miraheze.org), and I ask this wiki to be exempted from the Dormancy Policy. This wiki has content with Circleyverse that will be read by people, meaning the wiki is meant to read. While I will add some content, the pages might not be actively edited. Also, I have a lot of global edits (over 2,000 edits) meaning I have many signs of having activity. I came to Miraheze every day, so I'm pretty sure I am very active.

So would you like Circleyverse Wiki to be exempted from the Dormancy Policy? Thank you. CircleyDoesExtracter(Circley Talk | Global |Email the Cloud) 20:09, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

Fake user profiles

Hi, new and obviously fake user profiles are being created and added to our wiki (https://cyberlaw.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ListUsers&offset=&limit=500&username=&group=&creationSort=1&wpsubmit=&wpFormIdentifier=mw-listusers-form), at a rate of about 5 per week, since the end of July 2019. We have robust mechanisms to prevent vandalism, and the profiles mostly remain passive, but I was wondering if this could be a security risk. They clutter our user list, anyway - how do I get rid of them and prevent them from being created? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uncleistvan1BBB (talkcontribs) 13:21, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

@Uncleistvan1BBB: If you have robust mechanisms to prevent vandalism, there's probably nothing you need to do. If they are entirely inactive or mostly inactive, their revisions will (likely) need to be patrolled (assuming you have Special:RecentChanges and Special:NewPages) instead. Accounts are created automatically just by visiting your website; as far as I'm aware, perhaps @Void: can clarify, there's no way to remove unwanted users. Even if the users were globally locked or locally blocked, it would still not remove them from the users list. One workaround you might want to try is to create a separate "user" group and add all users that start actually editing your wiki to that group; it would have the same permissions as the system default "users" group except it would allow you to easily filter out the users who just joined by having visited your wiki. I realize it may not be ideal or what you were ideally looking for in that it wouldn't remove the clutter, but it would essentially provide a way to better organize the clutter in Special:ListUsers. Also, when you post to the talk pages on Meta, please remember to sign your posts with ~~~~ as a bot requires the timestamp information created by your signature to archive threads. Dmehus (talk) 13:37, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Thank you for the clarification, this is good to know! Uncleistvan1BBB (talk) 14:31, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
@Uncleistvan1BBB: No problem. Dmehus (talk) 15:14, 16 July 2020 (UTC) :)

Some users that need bureaucrat

Hello. Recently all bureaucrats from a wiki have retired and did not give anyone else the status before leaving, causing the wiki to have no bureaucrats and thus no ability to confirm new users. If possible, please give the users Portrock1566, Inkster and Hookuai the status. Kesner (talk) 18:50, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

@Kesner: Are any of those wikis in closed or inactive status? If so, then you will need to use Requests for adoption. Otherwise, if the wikis are all still active, there is a little a steward can do yet. A leading option I would recommend is organizing a local bureaucrat election on each of the wikis, consistent with each wiki's existing local policies (if any) governing elevated position appointments, then, when the election is complete, you will need to come back to Stewards' noticeboard to advise a steward of the completed elections. In such notifications, it's probably helpful to link to any local policies on each wiki, so that a steward can more quickly assess the local elections. Hope this helps. Dmehus (talk) 18:59, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Block Thefamilysimp2014

Reason: Vandal Hooligan --Hookuai (talk) 15:20, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Comment: I noticed that this user are blocked on 4 wikis, and has vandalised this wiki. I think that this user should be globally locked indefinitely, and their IP range be globally blocked for a month to prevent additional vandalism. --TFFfan (talk) 15:25, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
I am also suggesting a CheckUser to be performed on this user because their editing patterns appear that they may be an LTA, and for reasons I stated above for locking IP. --TFFfan (talk) 15:27, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the report.  Locked for cross-wiki vandalism. A steward may decide to CU if they wish. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:31, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Can someone look into this user?

I was looking through the abuse logs, and on Procrastipedia, this user has tripped the abuse filter 18 times in the past 48 hours. Abuse log. They keep adding external links to their userpage, which triggers the filter. I looked into the attempts, and I noticed that every time, the external links led to different accounts on different websites (NOT affiliated with miraheze). These different accounts are all with different real names, occupations, ages, status of marriage, and even gender. I just have a bad feeling about this user, and it appears suspicious that their personal details happen to change with every website and every edit attempt on that wiki. I really think someone needs to look into this user, as it may be possible that they are an LTA or abuse multiple accounts. Thanks! --TFFfan (talk) 17:33, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

And one more thing, if they are not an LTA/sockpuppeteer, they are advertising/promoting, and since that wiki is highly inactive, a global sysop would need to block them. Thanks! --TFFfan (talk) 17:36, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
Comment: I have no comment or position on this in particular, but I'm not sure if @TFFfan: is active on either Discord or IRC or not, but often these sort of reports are assessed and actioned (where action is required) more quickly for reports through those channels.
Also, I have procedurally moved this from the Meta Administrators' noticeboard as it is of little interest to local only Meta administrators. Dmehus (talk) 17:45, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Unfortunately, I do not use any of those. If you are on them, can you report it there? Thanks! --TFFfan (talk) 17:48, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
@TFFfan: I do and would definitely do that for you, but I'm not seeing either (a) the need or (b) the urgency here. Do you have evidence of cross-wiki problems caused by this user that are getting past the abuse filters? If so, then I think it's worthwhile to report on Discord/IRC CVT channels. Dmehus (talk) 17:52, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
@TFFfan: @Reception123: has globally locked the account. Dmehus (talk) 17:57, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: That's good. And thank you @Reception123:. Even though they were only spam and no LTA, they still could have done other things to other wikis. Again, thanks. --TFFfan (talk) 18:01, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

@Fomantisboy35: Apologies for the delay in replying. Your message was, perhaps, easily missed as you missed signing your post with four tildes (~~~~). Signing your posts helps to identify you and also allows our archiving bot to archive threads. Nevertheless, while don't allow wikis to be exact carbon copies of other wikis (with little or no modification), we do permit multiple wikis covering the same topic. Direct duplicate forks of existing wikis can still be allowed to remain, but that requires steward mediation (when a complaint has been lodged). In order for us to assess your concerns, can you substantiate your request by linking to both wikis so we can assess whether one is a whole duplication of the other wiki or merely a similar wiki covering the same topic? Dmehus (talk) 02:05, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

@Fomantisboy35: This seems to have been handled locally at the abysmalrobloxgames.miraheze.org wiki where Tntexplosionis321 has been blocked indefinitely. Do you still require steward or Global Sysop involvement here? When you post on Meta, please remember to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) as it becomes harder to track down your post otherwise and for a bot to archive discussions. Files on a wiki are blurry

For some reason, most files in my wiki are blurry. Why's that? - PowerDagger15 18:58, 29 June 2020

I don't remember where we discussed this and can't find the discussion, but the bottom line was: The configuration of your wiki chooses one of several methods for rendering photos (none of them perfect). The wiki software sends to your browser the photo to render (which is sometimes a small "thumbnail" photo) and your browser renders it. (I welcome a more detailed explanation from an expert.) Spıke (talk) 09:37, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
@Spike: Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about. Is it an extension that makes it blurry? PowerDagger15 (talk) 16:26, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

Cross Wiki notifications are broken, and delete BSW

There is a wiki named R and for some reason there are 2 alerts I got from that wiki but since it's private, I can't read them. Now they just affect my cross wiki notifications. And delete Bad Scratch Wiki, since the ScratchTeam wants it deleted since June.--PowerDagger15 (talk) 17:55, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

@PowerDagger15: Regarding the former, that's probably by design because it's a private wiki. Was it originally a public wiki that you accessed, watchlisted a page, and thus receive notifications for your attached account there? Have you tried going into your "all notifications" page, clicking on the notification, and, even though you can't read it, clicking through to the URL? That may be all that it takes to mark it as 'read'. Otherwise, it may be possible to file a task on Phabricator, to see if something can be fixed? Regarding BSW, yes, stewards are well aware of that. There's a process that it is undergoing before it can be deleted. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 18:08, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Has Wpetoi provided any on-wiki confirmation that that reddit user account of the same name belongs to them? Even if they have provided such on-wiki confirmation, do we also know that that reddit account has not been compromised in some way? We can't rely, solely, on content posted by users with similar names on other user-generated content sites. A diff on a Miraheze-hosted wiki that confirms that reddit account as belonging to Wpetoi of Miraheze would go a long way to providing this needed confirmation. @Dmehus: About the on wiki stuff, he only made Bad Scratch Wiki to insult and harrass scratchers (Children especially). He also insulted CircleyDoesExtracter's depression and joked about it, which insulted him and his fans (including me). He also called me dumb twice and lies a lot. He denies his wrongdoings too and he probably even wants CDE to get more depressed and commit suicide. He denies he has FANDOM and Reddit, even though there's solid proof there is. When CSW was still up, he told me he had FANDOM and reddit PowerDagger15 (talk) 15:39, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @PowerDagger15: Yes, I personally find that Bad Scratch Wiki, and related wikis, distasteful and grossly disgusting. As I understand it, BSW is in a process whereby the stewards have notified the owner and bureaucrats of that wiki, and it should be deleted in due course (as I said in reply to you in one of the above threads you started on this noticeboard). Stewards, system administrators, and much of the active Miraheze community (including me) are well aware of the problems it's caused to other Mirahezians, and that's why the community has authorized a 45-day moratorium on the creation of any Scratch wikis. We're also being more active in declining wikis that seem like outright violations of our Content Policy whereby the wikis are proposed to be singularly about creating disparaging content pages on Internet users. I would recommend following @RhinosF1:'s advice above, link to that reddit post, and he or another Miraheze Staff team member will do all the investigating they can to provide the necessary confirmation between the accounts, and take action swiftly and appropriately. Dmehus (talk) 15:47, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Ok, thank you! Hopefully this due process is finished and this user gets locked and his wiki — Preceding unsigned comment added by PowerDagger15 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
@PowerDagger15: No problem...I, for one, will be happy when BSW is finally deleted. I do think it was unfair, though, of the MIT Scratch Team to ban the user accounts of users who merely visited BSW accidentally or were themselves the subject of those disgusting pages. You guys never created those pages, so I have no idea why they thought it was appropriate to ban you guys. Far too strict of an action for them to take, in my opinion. Neither of you guys deserved to be banned there. Dmehus (talk) 15:56, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: How long is the due process though? PowerDagger15 (talk) 15:58, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
@PowerDagger15: That I don't know. We could probably use some further detail (i.e., general information) on our process of stewards deleting wikis in violation of one or more elements of our Content Policy, as documentation or help pages, so that users have a clearer understanding of the process and timeframes (as they do with Dormancy Policy). Dmehus (talk) 16:02, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
@PowerDagger15: While I cannot comment on the deletion process as I am unaware of what the Stewards are planning to do regarding that, I would like to point out that it would probably be useful to provide further links that would implicate the user in what you claim, so that we can investigate and take action if we find that they have been violating global policies (such as the Code of Conduct for example). The link to the Reddit thread having been removed, it is difficult for us to be able to determine what was said there so it would be useful to have additional links and evidence to what you claim for us to be able to help with the user (as for the deletion of the wiki, that is a different aspect). Reception123 (talk) (C) 14:07, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
Reception123 I did look at that post, and I did see it before it was deleted, and it was saying that he hates children, and wants to kill them. A bot removed the message yesterday. The reactions from the people do also provide evidence for what he said, with one user saying "i do not understand, are you attacking children?" This user obviously needs to be locked, and I think authorities need to be alerted. --TFFfan (talk) 14:12, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
Without the ability to confirm if the user is in ownership of those wikia/reddit accounts, there really isn't enough evidence to take action on this request. The wiki however, has been deleted. -- Void Whispers 17:50, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

Fix name space of 828 (Module / 模块)

In rs.miraheze.org, (the language of it is zh, not zh-cn or zh-hans,) the namespace of 828 is named "模块" with the alias "Module". It's not normal for a wiki with variant languages, and this problem has been fixed in zh Wikipedia, but still exists in rs.miraheze.org. I want to have "Module" be the namespace name with "模块" being alias. I can't fix it via managing the namespaces of it. --SolidBlock (talk) 13:07, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

I don't know whether it's fixed recently. Just recently I visited zh Wikipedia via mirror and found that the mirror namespace is fixed, compared to the last time I visited the modules there (may be months ago). You can see T165593. --SolidBlock (talk) 15:16, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

@Stephenfisher2001: Is there evidence that the vandalism and trolling is occurring cross-wiki (ideally, on two or more wikis which do not share a common bureaucrat team)? If not, locally handling it is usually best. Having said that, the second user you identified is clearly a username policy violation, so I'm going to {{ping}} Reception123. Dmehus (talk) 19:09, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Well, I don't know if it's a sock puppet or not but, they're two vandals were N1ggers fanclub, and IHATEAWFULMOVIESWIKIWORSTWIKI, just vandalized The Room page on Awful Movies Wiki. :( Stephenfisher2001 (talk) 19:20, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

@Stephenfisher2001: That's true, and I agree that users #1 and #3 are quacking as likely, just on the similarity of their usernames. It's quite possible that #2 is as well, so a CheckUser may be helpful in this case. Rangeblocking their IP address(es) globally could be helpful in such a case, especially if they have a habit of creating multiple accounts to target your wiki. Thank you for your report. Did you want to locally block them all for now, with autoblock enabled to prevent them using the same IP addresses as those blocked accounts? Dmehus (talk) 19:24, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Yes. Stephenfisher2001 (talk) 19:31, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

@Stephenfisher2001: I've let the stewards and Global Sysops know of this thread on Discord. I see you are a content moderator, so not sure if you have access to the Special:Block page on that wiki. What you can do is go to the Special:ActiveUsers page on that wiki and message any administrator to block them locally with autoblock enabled, pending global action. Dmehus (talk) 19:54, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Users #1 and #3 seem to have been  blocked locally, and user #2 now no longer exists so it was likely either (a) hidden or (b) renamed to someothing more appropriate. Dmehus (talk) 20:46, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

@InspecterAbdel: Do you have some evidence that Fetus is a sockpuppet of that other globally locked user? I will say that I declined the user's wiki requests 13437 and 13438, but mostly due to lack of clarity on the requested wiki's purpose and topic. Personal attacks and harassment are never acceptable, but stewards and Global Sysops will typically require you to link to the diffs. There's a user script in my global.js file (diff-permalink) that you can add to your global.js file to make linking to the diffs easier. Dmehus (talk) 20:36, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

@InspecterAbdel: Thank you, that is very helpful context for that wiki request I declined. I am glad I declined it as it didn't give me a good feeling. It purported to be a "top 10 user wiki," but gave the impression of being a "top 10 positive users" wiki. Seeing that now, it's clear now that the user attempted to deceive us wiki creators. @InspecterAbdel: I'm not an administrator, so I can't say, but my preference would be to see you go 7 days without needing an {{unsigned}} signature to be added. If you can consciously make an effort for the next four days, I will personally nominate you for autopatrolled at Meta:Administrators' noticeboard on 1 August 2020. How about that? As for the abuse filter set up, it's done through Special:AbuseFilter, but you have to know a bit of code that works with the MediaWiki functions. I've got to look into it more, but I can probably set up a dirt simple one for you in a couple days, and then show you how to do it. Dmehus (talk) 22:05, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I created gvdswiki as a community wiki for the Global Virtual Design Sprint community. After setting it up I have been working to find a team to help me grow the wiki. I have now found a team to help me but the wiki has been inactive for over 60 days and I cannot edit the wiki. How do I get it back? BigG (talk) 12:06, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

@BigG: I see that you are an administrator on that wiki, but, since the logs are private, I cannot see if and/or how you came to lose your bureaucrat status on this wiki. Can you look in your ManageWiki logs and let me know how you came to lose your status? If it's something as simple as a configuration change you or another bureaucrat made, or even a likely inadvertent removal of your rights with no described narrative why, then that'll make it easier for a steward to action this request. How do I mass delete pages in reallifevillains.miraheze.org

Andrewbdfe (talk) 17:16, 29 July 2020 (UTC) I'm trying to delete pages with the word "Thread:" in Special:Nuke because its clogging the wiki and I try to mass delete this pages but it keep saying "There are no page titles matching your search." Andrewbdfe (talk) 17:16, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

@Andrewbdfe: How many pages is it? If Thread: is a namespace on your wiki, you can delete all threads in that namespace (be sure you want to do this). Alternatively, you can tag the threads with [[Category:Name of some category]], and then nuke the pages in that category you created and utilized. Failing that, there's a maintenance script system administrators can run, and which can be requested on Phabricator. It's under the MediaWiki project and Maintenance workboard. Dmehus (talk) 17:39, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Andrewbdfe: Thank you also for signing your posts with ~~~~. I thought I'd just give you this useful pro tip: instead of using external links to your wiki, you can use magic hook wikilinks (a Miraheze creation) in the form of [[mh:subdomain:fullpagename|optional piped link]]. Dmehus (talk) 17:50, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: But "Thread:" is not a namespace on my wiki and I'm trying to delete all the pages at once with nuke but I can't and that I have to do it manually which thats long Andrewbdfe (talk) 18:02, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Andrewbdfe: That's okay if it's not a namespace, but can you edit those thread pages to tag them with a category? That way, you can easily tag the category to each of the thread pages and nuke all thread pages tagged in that category. Special:Nuke is very limited in its approach; you have to either nuke all pages by a given user, all pages created in a given namespace, or all pages in a given category. Otherwise, you have to know SQL LIKE commands, and I haven't completely understood all of that yet. How many pages are you talking? If it's not too many, then this is the approach you should take. If you're talking hundreds or thousands, then see my reply above. Also, are they comingled within a given namespace? If there is only threads in that namespace, you could just nuke all pages in that namespace easily. Dmehus (talk) 18:11, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: But there are too many of these pages and how do I do SQL LIKE commands Andrewbdfe (talk) 18:58, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Andrewbdfe: How many is too many? It shouldn't take too long to copy a category onto each page in rapid succession. One can probably tag 2-3 pages per minute, at human speed, so you're looking at 120-180 pages per hour. Is it more than that? Do you know which namespace(s) they're in? I am not familiar with SQL LIKE commands, especially with MediaWiki's syntax, so will have to defer on that. At any rate, it really shouldn't be utilized by users who are new to Special:Nuke. Let me look at your wiki quickly. Dmehus (talk) 19:03, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus:: But than how do you create a namespace for "Thread:" Andrewbdfe (talk) 19:06, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Andrewbdfe: Okay, I had a quick look. I see what you mean. It looks like you've enabled all your discussion forum and messaging extensions in Main: namespace, hence the clutter. In future, you should be able to use Special:ManageWiki/namespaces (on your wiki), create a new namespace called Thread: and then enable the messaging extension in that namespace. The extension may be able to be configured via Special:ManageWiki/extensions (also on your wiki) to be set up in its own namespace, too. Not familiar with the extensions, so I make no guarantees as to whether this is feasible. Nevertheless, I see what you mean. Do you want all threads deleted? And, are they all in Main: namespace? I will message the system administrators on Discord to look at this request and set up a deletion script to mass delete these pages for you. Dmehus (talk) 19:13, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus:: Actually making them a namespace solve the problem, thank you Andrewbdfe (talk) 19:19, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @Andrewbdfe: I actually said that there may unintended consequences from changing the namespace configuration for those extensions with the existing pages still outstanding. I checked the deletion log on your wiki, and don't see them having been deleted. Nor do I see where they were moved to in your created namespace. Can you kindly fill me in on the details for keeping this request up-to-date and filling in the Phabricator ticket I created? Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 19:33, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

@Andrewbdfe: Please revert whatever namespace configuration you've done; the pages do not seem to have been deleted. Rather, because of the namespace configuration change, those existing thread pages are causing bad title errors on your wiki. So, if you can kindly confirm, on-wiki, by way of a reply, so that a system administrator can handle the mass deletion you originally requested. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 20:00, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

We need them to delete half as they talk about subjects that are banned from this wiki (e.g. Donald Trump). TheGreatGazebo (talk) 23:43, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
TheGreatGazebo Okay, that's problematic, moreso for you guys than anything as you will need to compile a list of all pages to delete. If you'd prefer just to have all pages with those prefixes deleted, please feel free to say so, but at present, all we can do now is fix your wiki by reverting the Special:ManageWiki/namespaces configuration changes. Dmehus (talk) 00:16, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I think you already know this, but the reason why there are thread pages is that the wiki used to be on FANDOM, but the dumb staff closed the wiki for a dumb SJW reason, so the FANDOM importing bot imported pages from FANDOM to Miraheze, so the comments got imported too, and that's why there are "Thread" pages. Here is an example. InspecterAbdel (talk) 15:46, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: I didn't actually know those specific details on the hosting and importation history for this wiki, but figured it was probably a migration from Fandom. I also figured these extensions, or some version of them, were likely heavily used over at Fandom. So, thank you for pointing out those useful details. Dmehus (talk) 16:02, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

An anonymous user who needs to get temporary blocked

92.38.148.60 is a raider who told @Space0720: to die all because she raided a wiki (Which I don't even know if she did), he/she a-logged her, and is a hypocrite because he/she raids too. Also a (suspected) sock of Zenko. InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:23, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

I checked the recent changes and found out that @Space0720: did not raid a wiki, and she only undid a troll's edits InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:27, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: (edit conflict) Given the nature of the contributions by the anonymous user, and potential for it being a blocked user editing while logged out, I've notified the stewards and Global Sysops to your report on Discord, #cvt channel. Dmehus (talk) 18:28, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: It also got her falsely blocked on that wiki InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:32, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: Yeah, that's unfortunate. Are you able to go to that wiki and approach one of the administrators on the wiki, to see if the user can be unblocked by explaining the user was only reverting vandalism and/or troll-like edits? Alternatively, if you are not comfortable doing that, a steward or Global Sysop may be able to make that request of local administrators on your behalf; however, they generally cannot supercede local administration (i.e., can only act if local administration doesn't). Dmehus (talk) 18:36, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
The IP address has been locally blocked for making threats. Reception123 (talk) (C) 18:44, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@Dmehus: The admin there is pretty inactive, but I'll try to tell him InspecterAbdel (talk) 18:55, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: Okay, thanks. If you don't hear back in about seven days, reply to this thread, and a GS or steward will follow up, I'm sure. Dmehus (talk) 19:43, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: Also, I'm a male, not female. --Rainstorm1650 (talk) 05:47, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
