Steward requests

This page lists request pages for tasks that require Stewards', or, in a limited number of circumstances, Global Sysops' intervention. If in doubt please try the community portal (or if local to meta, administrator's noticeboard) first, and you will be directed here if the matter requires a Steward.

Please choose the most appropriate page for your request from the list below. If nothing seems to fit, you can file under Miscellaneous.

CheckUser requests[edit | edit source]

Oh man why does she had page@loathsomecharacters[edit | edit source]

UPDATE: More sock accounts have been made by the names of Geraldcakemaniac, WIlliam Sophomore, Willy willy binally, 18 year old male with ADHD, 18 year old male with ADHD for real, and Howdy and yeehaw. She somehow manages to create a new sock within minutes as I'm not sure if the IP address was blocked as well. CrazySpruiker2001 (talk) 03:00, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
 Done IP blocked. Thank you. --1108-Kiju/Talk 03:58, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
And don't forget about Gerenal TV like. If you look at this user's contributions and their user profile, this may indicate that they may also be another sockpuppet of -abigblueworld-. https://loathsomecharacters.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Gerenel_TV_like https://loathsomecharacters.miraheze.org/wiki/User:Gerenel_TV_likeSuperStreetKombat (talk) 04:38, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Gerenal TV like@loathsomecharacters[edit | edit source]

That is enough! I clearly stated I am not this user! Gerenel TV like (talk) 15:56, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There's no technical evidence to tie these accounts directly to abigblueworld. That being said, some of the accounts mentioned above were related. Others are clearly Username Policy violations and the circumstantial evidence points clearly towards abigblueworld so they have been locked. Please report any other socks or further evidence. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:01, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So what you're saying is that Gerenal TV like ''isn't'' -abigblueworld-? All right then. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 17:10, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm not saying that. I'm saying there's no technical evidence to suggest that. I do think based on the circumstantial evidence it's most likely that they are indeed -abigblueworld- and based on that and their clearly disruptive edits here I've blocked them. If they continue on other wikis I'll lock them. Reception123 (talk) (C) 17:15, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm not talking to you, Gerenal; I'm waiting for a response from a Steward. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 17:01, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

MP854thReturn@polandballwiki[edit | edit source]

Checked, There is no technical evidence that they are the same person. --1108-Kiju/Talk 11:38, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So you are saying that neither RohKoov nor MarioPlayer1985 are connected to that account? CastleFort1 (talk) 13:03, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There is little agreement in the trends of connection information for the three accounts. Technically, it cannot be determined that these accounts are owned by the same person.
However, it is important to note that CheckUser is not a crystal ball. As a Steward who has received the request, the only fact that can be stated is that there was no technical match. It is not possible to definitively conclude that the accounts are not owned by the same person based solely on connection information.
Regardless of the results of CheckUser, if you believe that the behavioral evidence (w:WP:DUCKTEST) of these accounts matches, you can choose to block them. --1108-Kiju/Talk 13:48, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Mayday@ecosidewiki[edit | edit source]

@Globe: What abuse has taken place to merit CU access? Multiple accounts alone are not an issue. --raidarr (💬) 18:15, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Not only is there no "ecosidewiki" that exists but as Raidarr says no evidence is given that there has been any abuse. Reception123 (talk) (C) 10:50, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Note: The user name below ("TheSun42") is the one who's in the clear. He's an admin. The one with the plural "suns" is the vandal. Do not confuse the two. CrazySpruiker2001 (talk) 12:53, 4 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm confused by this request as there's only one user name on the list that I can see? Reception123 (talk) (C) 20:25, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Collei: I get your intention to help out and that's appreciated but as I previously noted, it's not really necessary to report spambots who have not actually got past the abuse filter. Technically it doesn't hurt but it takes up Steward time unnecessarily where there is a very small chance that the same IPs or accounts will manage to get through. If that does happen, that's when they should reported. Reception123 (talk) (C) 16:04, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, I see, sorry. I didn't realize that applied to created accounts too. I won't report them unless they get past the filter. Collei (talk) (contributions) 16:50, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Permissions[edit | edit source]

Administrator/Bureaucrat access[edit | edit source]

Instructions/Read before making a request

Use this section to request Stewards grant you administrator or bureaucrat rights on a wiki without any active bureaucrats (or unwilling bureaucrats if they refuse to certify a successful vote) following a local election. We normally don't grant permissions without a local election for advanced rights like this so you'll need to make a local election unless you accidentally demoted yourself.

If you accidentally removed your own permissions, you can also use this section to request re-addition.

To make a request, press "edit" next to the "Administrator/Bureaucrat access" section header, copy the following code and place it at the very bottom of this section. Replace every section as needed:

=== Username@<subdomain>wiki ===
{{Permission request
 |status    = <!-- Do not remove this! -->
 |wiki      = <!-- Replace with subdomain of wiki -->
 |user name = <!-- Replace with username -->
 |discussion= <!-- Replace with link to discussion, if any -->
}}

Darkrai18@nintendowiki[edit | edit source]

The bureaucrat and wiki founder has been inactive since May 2023. As for me, I've been a regular contributor for many weeks. I've also created several templates and several pages. I've also started a local election on the discussion page of the homepage detailing my background on the wiki and my intentions. So I'm asking for bureaucrat rights and if that's not possible, at least administrator rights. Thank you in advance. Darkrai18 (talk) 12:22, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Darkrai18. In accordance with the Local policy, recommend that you first contact the bureaucrat Bawitdaba. They are currently active in Mariopedia, so I think you'll get a reply. --1108-Kiju/Talk 03:57, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@1108-Kiju: I already tried to contact him some time ago here: https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/User_talk:Bawitdaba#Can_we_talk? and here: https://mariopedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Bawitdaba#The_Nintendo_Wiki, also on Discord, but he never replied. topheroes[edit | edit source]

Hello I'm the community lead for a mobile game called top heroes, and I'm looking for a place to start my game wiki. This is where I came across Miraheze. However upon looking into this further, I noticed that the name Topheroes not available for use. In fact it is an inactive, and deleted wiki. The founder has no contribution history and left it to die. Since then I have already gotten an approval to undelete the wiki. This request to gain administrator and also bureaucrat over that wiki so i can have full autonomy and control in maintaining the wiki for myself, and remove all existing users from before. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TopHeroes (talkcontribs) 17:05, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi! I am a googology lover. I want be an admin in a wiki. I see there is a googology wiki on Miraheze here! But I seems it is inactivity(do not understand to Miraheze's Wiki inactivity (will deleted).). I want be an admin and change the wiki now. Can I accept to this wants?

I'll makes edits on Googology wiki now.Gongxiang01 (talk) 12:55, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Requirements have not been met for appointment, there is already an active, extant community that has made edits within the last few days. Please follow the rules outlined in Local elections to hold a local election and reopen this request when criteria have been met.

Funfacterdroid@neworderwiki[edit | edit source]

I imported around 17 pages after trying to move from Wikitide, the domain ended up being already used but deleted (and in Polish, which I cannot read). So I had to make the request to undelete it, which just went through. There were no other editors on the original Wikitide wiki and there doesn't appear to be any other pages that I didn't import. I don't even know the username of the original founder.
This is now  Done, thanks --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 02:54, 27 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Other access[edit | edit source]

Instructions/Read before making a request

Use this section to request Stewards grant you minor local access such as autopatrolled, confirmed, or rollbacker on wikis without any active bureaucrats.

You may also use this section to request a Steward grant you a Global IP block exemption.

To make a request, press "edit" next to the "Other access" section header, copy the following code and place it at the very bottom of this section. Replace every section as needed (change <subdomain>wiki to global if requesting an IP block exemption):

=== Username@<subdomain>wiki ===

My local voting has been completed,so I need interwiki rights for this wiki, thank you. --Honglan233 (talk) 08:54, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Confirmed. This is a delicate case. It is one step away from meeting the active user count requirement, so it may be acceptable depending on the status of the election. Please reopen the election and give the community an opportunity to voice their opinions for at least two weeks. Sorry, We cannot accept it at this time. Therefore, this is not done.--1108-Kiju/Talk 13:01, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Removal[edit | edit source]

Instructions/Read before making a request

Use this section to request Stewards remove rights from a user (such as bureaucrat) following a local revocation or resignation, or to request they remove user rights only they may modify for any reason as defined by group revocation policy. You can also use this section to request bureaucrats remove your own rights on a wiki or on all wikis (including global rights).

To make a request, press "edit" next to the "Removal" section header, copy the following code and place it at the very bottom of this section. Replace every section as needed (change <subdomain>wiki to global if requesting a Steward remove your rights on all wikis or global rights):

Agent Isai@commonswiki[edit | edit source]

MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 15:57, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@MacFan4000: a user's 2c on this. While it's unfortunate to hold the hat and have no local capacity (I'd personally err towards shedding if I'm just absent), some consideration should be given to the fact agent is at least accessible imo. His activity is hardly unusual in a list with 6 bureaucrats, of whom only you and reception have made any edits that can possibly be considered recent. On the other hand dmehus in particular has been rarely sighted around the platform in a long time, and further has no particular global function which commons access makes convenient to perform (commons being an official miraheze project which imo should invite a different train of thought than the 'usual' wiki). A similar argument could be made for Hispano though he might still be conveniently reachable given his recent edits on some wikis. I'm not saying there's no basis for this, but how to resolve the wider problem should be discussed. Perhaps there should be a cleanup of how commons is locally run to encourage proactive local admins & bureaucrats, formally endorse stewards to act as admins/bureaucrats given it is a miraheze project, and otherwise see if there are options to clean up commons as a support wiki for the platform. --raidarr (💬) 17:23, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Pinging @Agent Isai as they had plans to revisit an overhaul of commons post-merger... --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:40, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Raidarr, I plan on resuming more regular activity on Miraheze Commons, which, incidentally, were part of my original plans when I joined Miraheze, but got sidelined due to other global responsibilities at the time. That being said, Miraheze Commons is one of those wikis where I think it's useful to have both active local bureaucrats and administrators, but also at the same time allowing Stewards and Global Sysops to act on the wiki without the usual "waiting period" for local interference, so I like your latter suggestion. ;)
Also, welcome back. Glad to have you back! :) Dmehus (talk) 21:16, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That isn't a valid demotion reason. Bad understandings can happen, we aren't trying to be difficult for you, it's just that most of us don't speak Chinese so we can't always understand your wiki requests. There aren't many human translators available that speak Chinese fluently and also fluently speak a language like English or Spanish that wiki reviewers can understand. I've responded to your message on BrandonWM's talk page about this to explain why there was a misunderstanding, but escalating conflict to this level is considered inappropriate behavior on Miraheze, and if we reach a severe situation (which I hope we don't), you may be blocked from participating in some parts of Miraheze due to violations of the Miraheze rules. Please try to resolve disputes as politely as possible without escalating issues unnecessarily. コレイ (talk) (contributions) 03:19, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Dormancy Policy Exemption Request (Dungeon Rampage)[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hello, I'm an Dungeon Rampage administrator. I'd like to apply for an exemption from the dormancy policy. The wiki serves as a useful store of information on the game, but has been finished as most information has already been documented and any new information regarding the game is non official one. I believe it fulfills the criteria for "Wikis made to be read, where a lot of information is already on wiki and doesn't need to be actively edited.". - User:Rushuby 8:12 PM Saturday, February 17, 2024 (UTC)

Dormancy Policy Exemption Request (Murder Fabrication Wiki)[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hello! I'm the sole admin of the Murder Fabrication Wiki, which I requested. This is a Wiki for a personal project, which is meant to be read by the (current and potential) readers of a story I'm writing and for which I am the only possible contributor. The Wiki is largely complete in regards to what is publicly available. This is a story (and by extension a Wiki) I've been writing for years and am continuing to write, but my public updates are bound to be irregular, which is why updates to the Wiki could at times be few and far between despite very much being up-to-date. I think my Wiki could fit the "Wikis made to be read, where a lot of information is already on wiki and doesn't need to be actively edited" criteria. Thank you for your consideration! Ninjan (talk) 07:40, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am unable to grant an indefinite exemption, but will grant a one-year exemption that will expire in 2025. In the interim, our new dormancy policy should come into effect soon which will massively extend dormancy/deletion windows. Thank you for your continued dedication to your project. :) --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 23:13, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you! I'll do my best to stay up to date with the changes to the Dormancy Policy. Ninjan (talk) 10:19, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Dormancy Policy Exemption Request (Cholecalciferol)[edit | edit source]

Status:  Not done

I would like to make a Dormancy Policy Exemption Request for the wiki Cholecalciferol.

While I will keep updating the wiki the data that is collected there is valuable for future readers and researchers. I also refer people to the resource as required. The pace of updates has slowed down but may pick up again if other parts of the project get reactivated. Should I loose access to it I would be distressed if all the hard work were to evaporate.

The basis for the request is

  • Wikis made to be read, where a lot of information is already on wiki and doesn't need to be actively edited.

The bulk of the data is collected on the medical research page DOI and on my personal biography page Bio

Thank you KalleMP (talk) 21:12, 24 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Current body of content does not qualify for a dormancy exemption, but I am happy to report that our Dormancy Policy will soon be amended to extend the minimum time between start of inactivity and a wiki being eligible for deletion to a full year. I hope this will meet your needs once implemented . --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 23:18, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Semantic Forms is not a restricted extension, however Semantic MediaWiki, which this extension relies on, is. Does your wiki have Semantic MediaWiki enabled, and, if not, do you want us to enable it for you? Alex (Miraheze) (talk) 16:12, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@John Morris: SMW is enabled on this wiki, you can enable it yourself on ManageWiki by first enabling PageForms (which Semantic Forms Select depends on), then enabling Semantic Forms Select. Let us know if you have any issues. Alex (Miraheze) (talk) 12:24, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wiki reports[edit | edit source]

Content Policy + Code of Conduct violations @ drawnfanonfeet[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Yes, this is not the first time this wiki gets reported. However, previous reports - one by BrandonWM, and another by Buzzfan120 on Raiddar's talk page, lacked any real substance: they were made with an obvious bias - personal dislike of the subject of the wiki (which doesn't breach Content Policy by itself), and based on assumptions (cartoon stylization and authors' general drawing abilities). I decided to investigate the place by myself (oh well) and I haven't found any proofs of previously reported pages containing underage characters, in fact - none of articles on this wiki contain such.

But two users uploaded a lot of images in March and April, without tying them to any article on the wiki. These images contain some characters which are officially or widely stated to be under 18 - Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Pit. Images can be seen in wiki's Special:NewFiles, users' contributions pages: one, two.

Also, during my investigation, I managed to find numerous breaches of Code of Conduct - one admin makes mocking edits and leaves plain bad comments @ users, including previously mentioned uploaders: one, two, three, four (I haven't delved for more, but I guess that's enough for some sanctions).

P.S.: as you might notice by my comment on Raiddar's page, I actually first checked the wiki back in April, but was hoping Buzzfan120 will make a proper report here and I'll expand on it. He didn't, and then I just forgot about the topic until now. Checking the wiki again showed me that nothing has changed + revealed the CoC case.

KatozzKita (talk) 08:14, 25 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"She", actually. I'm actually a girl. But that's not important right now. I have something to say that's more important: I'm sorry I didn't include enough evidence in my report. I incorrectly assumed that all files on the wiki were Content Policy violations. You, on the other hand, have found plenty of evidence, and based on the evidence you provided, I would have to agree that something needs to be done about this. Buzzfan120 (talk) 19:28, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This wiki is truly bad for the reputation of Miraheze. This wiki needs to be deleted, and I'm kinda disappointed that we can allow this kind of wiki. This clearly has abuse of minors and harassment. Please get rid of the Wiki ASAP. Also reopening topic. Commetian Empire (talk) 01:22, 4 December 2023 (UTC) Includes unintentional controversy. Commetian Empire (talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 21:07, 20 January 2024 (UTC) Reply[reply]
And that's why you can't be a steward, you put bias at the top, and it doesn't seem like you actually read the report. The users who bulk uploaded images need to be sanctioned and the images deleted, of course, and I suppose wiki administrators have to do this (it seems like they aren't aware of this whole deal). As for the admin acting immature, a steward will know better how to handle this. If neither of those issues will be fixed then the wiki is eligible for shutdown? Content Policy + Code of Conduct violations @原批维基[edit | edit source]

Status:  In progress

Miraheze administrators:

I will report @原批维基 from the perspective of name and content.

Perspective of name[edit | edit source]

The "批" in "原批维基" is an insult in Chinese language.

Comment: 「批」in Chinese is a insultive name for a group, in this case, it refers to the players of Genshin Impact. Atom studying itself (talk) 11:26, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

According to Miraheze's code of conduct , "原批维基" should not be approved.

From this matter, it can be concluded that @原批维基 has violated Miraheze's Code of Conduct violations.

Perspective of content[edit | edit source]

In the https://wiki.yuanpi.eu.org/wiki/高笑坤专题报道 , @原批维基 Publicized the personal information of a citizen of the People's Republic of China named Gao Xiaokun, who did not obtain the consent of Gao Xiaokun.

Comment: As well as other violations, like 黄俊龙,naming him a "idiot of the year" Atom studying itself (talk) 11:26, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

From this matter, it can be concluded that @原批维基 has violated Miraheze's Content Policy.

End[edit | edit source]

All in all, @原批维基 has violated Miraheze's Content Policy and Code of Conduct violations. I hope the Miraheze administrators can take action on this. Thank you!

Out of scope and forking: Wiki One[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Wiki One was originally requested with the stated intent to "create an encyclopedia with curiosities about emerging artists, singers, actors and include details that others would not include". It appears to have few, if any, articles that meet this scope. It has several articles that are outside the scope, some of which also appear to be directly copied from Wikipedia. For example, Deezer, Giulio Donati, Mysophobia, and digital object identifier. – Jph2 (talk) 16:45, 27 November 2023 (UTC

Content Policy Violations on Polcompball Wiki and Polcompball Anarchy Wiki[edit | edit source]

Status:  Not done

Hello, Miraheze,

I am reporting the Polcompball and Polcompball Anarchy Wiki to let you know that this wiki that is rather large has a huge amount of content policy violations.

For starters, this should be obvious, but there are many users on the website that still condone political extremist ideologies and sometimes even violence against certain groups on this wiki, which violates Rules 5 and 7 of the Content Policy. WARNING: Many of these links contain explicit content.

  • Exhibit A - This rather prevalent page on Polcompball Anarchy supports a wide array of extremist ideologies, such as eugenicism and totalitarianism, and also supports certain controversial individuals, such as Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin. Additionally, this page also seems to condone violence, as the title contains a gun and mafia hat.
  • Exhibit B - This page condones many controversial topics, such as violence and anarchism.
  • Exhibit C - Like the last two pages, this page endorses extremist ideologies, some which had caused the deaths of millions, such as communism and anarchism. Additionally, this page endorses an ideology called the "Communization Theory" that Polcompball themselves describe as advocacy for violence to achieve communism.

Additionally, many people have characterized Polcompball to be a toxic community, due to many of these reasons. I highly suggest the Stewards should investigate this wiki and take action neccessary as soon as possible. CincoColinas (talk) 14:06, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I don't think that we're going to remove wikis due to extreme ideologies, but the pages in question, particularly Exhibit B, show a clear acceptance of violence or some form of removal of humans from Earth. I would second this report and advise Stewards undertake investigation. BrandonWM (talkcontributionsglobalrights) 01:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Regarding the "anarchy clause" that simply refers to wikis that don't have a set of policies (whether written or unwritten) or that don't care about enforcing our own Content Policy within Miraheze, it doesn't refer to wikis discussing or even condoning anarchy in general. In the meantime, the Exhibit B page has been deleted. Regarding the others examples, I would agree with what BrandonWM has said in that discussing extreme ideologies isn't something that is banned per se. I would say that unless there's specific examples of encouraging violence and/or other illegal behavior or instances of hate speech towards certain groups there's no cause to remove a page simply for discussing what certain political ideologies are about in general terms. It's not possible for Stewards to fully read the entire pages cited so if you have any specific concerns along the lines of what I said, please do quote them as the pages are very long. Reception123 (talk) (C) 20:20, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay, I suppose. Just keep the wiki in check to make sure it doesn't spill out of control.CincoColinas (talk) 05:11, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Forking rules generally only apply to two wikis hosted by Miraheze or if it's clear there's an attempt to 'spite-fork' a wiki from another group by an ousted member. However, this wiki's already fallen into closure due to dormancy, what are you requesting happen in this case? --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 22:54, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The globally banned founder has found me on Discord and he messaged me to ask for the wiki to be deleted for another reason, but he told me that most of the Wiki's pages are duplicates from the other one which I also found out and closed the Wiki (it didn't closed for inactivity, but I've undone it for now). The same user also had another wiki that was deleted and the other wiki isn't hosted by Miraheze too. AlPaD (talk) 13:37, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Deeply strange, but as you're a bureaucrat on the wiki it's within your rights to request closure. Deleting wiki per request... --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 17:58, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

humormediachat.miraheze.org[edit | edit source]

Status:  In progress

This wiki was established at wiki request #34574. The request and the initial establishment of the wiki were used to chat with users on other wikis and to appeal blocking. However, it seems to have been closed by a user since it was taken over by Discord. (Reference)

However, this wiki is now a rejected 変なウィキ (#40997) requested by the user who requested this wiki. This is evident from the site name, main page and Sitenotice, and requester's speech. This would be inappropriate because the scope has been radically changed (and it is a replacement for a request that has been declined by the wiki creator and steward).    Waki285(talk|contrib|log|CA|Target) 08:23, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This wiki is against to Content Policy, it too broad scope. Gongxiang01 (talk) 10:24, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Adding in my 2c as a wiki creator here, the scope is fine-ish in my view. I don't think one sentence is enough to take action on a report as well, though should a more complete report be filled out (cough toxicity cough) in the future, then it should be something to consider. BrandonWM (talkcontributionsglobalrights) 15:44, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As BrandonWM mentions, wiki reports must contain more information that a single vague sentence, and usually specific examples of pages that demonstrate either systemic or individual violations of the Content Policy. Stewards can't be expected to look through an entire wiki to see where the alleged violations took place. Reception123 (talk) (C) 10:55, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

bettytroyatv.miraheze.org[edit | edit source]

Status:  Locally handled

The wiki bettytroyatv.miraheze.org is owned by a different person and not the creator himself which is Betty Troya, me and a friend found out about this since on a page there was a list of banned episodes (which are random streams that are still public) with a reason of the wiki creator saying that one person that are in the streams isnt allowed in the streams when the person said they are taking a 1 year break of joining the livestreams (which according to the creator they think its illegal) The creator has also been harrasing me and my friends (not on the wiki but in email and discord), And some pages (aboiut people that are in the streams and the page Betty Troya TV) were basically copy and pasted from another wiki which is a closed wiki called Mario Player PL Wiki on fandom, Please take this wiki down. - — Preceding unsigned comment added by LeonChannel (talkcontribs)

It seems that a bureaucrat on the wiki decided to close it and make it private, presumably as a result of this report. Therefore, since it's been voluntarily closed, no further action is necessary. Reception123 (talk) (C) 16:39, 26 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Requesting Dormancy Policy Exception (Führerredux wiki)[edit | edit source]

Status:  Not done

I'm requesting a Dormancy Policy exception for our wiki (unfortunately the CAPTCHA doesnt let me post links). Our wiki is designed as a stable, read-only repository for fans of the mod, providing insights into the lore behind countries, individuals, wars, parties, etc. Also, it's important to note that the only contributors to the wiki are individuals actively involved in the development of the mod. And as our mod is our primary focus, and the wiki, while valuable, is a secondary project, we may not be able to dedicate frequent attention to it, but we do strive to maintain the wiki. Updates might occur within large periods of time, due to the nature of our development schedule.

For all the aforementioned reasons, I do believe that our wiki should be under a dormancy policy exception.

Führerredux (talk) 18:32, 12 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Declining request, limited content/viewers and private wiki, does not meet dormancy exemption criteria.

link my username on wiki[edit | edit source]

Status:  On hold

Hello there,

I had edited on about Windows XP under that username seen in that edit. Is it possible to link that username with my email NOW? I would like to link that account with my email address. It was my editing. Please also locate all the edits under that username.

Thank you for your time and understanding and help. -- Cybernarses (talk) 05:17, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

One email can be used for more than one different MediaWiki account; you can just add the email to the account if you still have access to it. If you have lost access to that account, it is pretty much a given that SRE will not manipulate that account unless there are exceptional circumstances that mean you can prove that the account in question is yours (such as a committed identity, etc). Are you asking for the two accounts to be merged so that the edits are reattributed to your new account, or are you just asking for a list of the edits made under that account? If the former, that is also probably going to be a no unless you can prove that account is owned by you. Original Authority (talk) 02:02, 29 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Actually both. For the later, "are you just asking for a list of the edits made under that account?", I cannot see any contribution even though I can log on to [2] with cybernarses account.
As for the former, what proof do you need? -- Cybernarses (talk) 03:47, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Requesting Dormancy Policy Exemptions on 2 Wikis[edit | edit source]

Status:  Not done

I am currently the sole bureaucrat and editor of the following 2 wikis.

  • Vale's Ultimate Archive Project (Private) - A personal archive project covering several communities I've been involved with online, and their history. Primarily used by me, though I will allow others that I trust in later on (there is 1 person I currently have in mind). This wiki is currently my priority, though I anticipate it will have periods of inactivity in the future, especially due to the amount of editors.
  • Project Exonaut Wiki (Public) - A wiki about the defunct online game, Project Exonaut. With the game having shut down years ago, and most needed information already being on the wiki after moving from Fandom, my activity will likely be inconsistent. I don't see other editors being interested in it for the forseeable future, and the wiki will also reach a state of relative completion in the future, at which point edits will be minimal.

Because of the reasons listed above I'd like to request indefinite exemptions for both wikis. I can elaborate further if needed, though. Thank you. ValeOfVoid (talk) 10:27, 25 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Status was not preserved, per original response both wikis do not meet requirements for exemption. Marking not done. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 17:23, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Dormancy Policy Exemption Request (Assault Android Cactus Wiki)[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hello, I'm an Assault Android Cactus wiki bureaucrat. I'd like to apply for an exemption from the dormancy policy. The wiki serves as a useful store of information on the game, but has not been updated in a while and is unlikely to be updated very often in future since most of the important information is already there and the game itself is not being updated. I believe it fulfills the criteria for "Wikis made to be read, where a lot of information is already on wiki and doesn't need to be actively edited.". Thank you 🙂 Seajay (talk) 05:01, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There's a glitch about blogs that needs to be fixed[edit | edit source]

Status:  Cannot be undertaken

Hello, so for the past 3 or 4 years, there's this bug that when creating a blog, there's this error code that says "Error: There is already a blog post with that title. Please choose a different title for your blog post." even though there never was another blog with the same title a new one is made beforehand, and this has been confusing other users into thinking that they DID already make blogs that already got made, often causing them to create duplicate blogs by accident, and this issue has been going on for 3 or 4 years, so I'm wondering if this can be fixed or if it's just flatout beyond repair. Thanks. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 20:00, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Okay. Im asking because people (on Phabricator) are wanting to know which extension it is, since there are multiple. I have had that problem before on my own wiki. Commetian Empire (talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 13:36, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The other issue is that there is a high chance it's something upstream and if it is, it totally depends on the original extension developers and there's little Miraheze can do. Either way you're at step nothing if it's not clear which blog extension it even is. --raidarr (💬) 09:34, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Globe, RfRW is not the correct venue for wikis that have already been deleted and fully removed from our databases, that is only appropriate when wikis are closed/inactive and a user would like to take over when there is no active crat to resume work.
@AuroraBorealis, as these wikis are fully gone, the next step would be to file a new request for a wiki, you can choose to request the same subdomain or a new one as you see fit.

We do not, as a rule, remove blocks that local administrators have done on their personal wikis unless there's a clear and compelling reason to do so. Is this in regards to a block on Meta or their personal wiki? --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 21:54, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The blocks will resolve themselves when the wiki inevitably drops. --raidarr (💬) 22:27, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The miraHow controversy[edit | edit source]

A couple of days ago I made a wiki request for miraHow and Redmin declined the request for being too broad. But - half a year ago - I made a request for The Miraheze Cookbook and Tali643, which was a wiki creator at that time, accepted that request. Lots of people including Imamy are interested in The Miraheze Cookbook.

I clearly explained how broad miraHow is and Redmin still declined again.

Let's compare The Miraheze Cookbook vs miraHow:

Type miraHow The Miraheze Cookbook
Recipes
Art and craft projects
Scientific projects
DIY projects
Technical projects
Health projects
Ingredients
Culsines
Nutrition
Equipment

In summary, miraHow would have similar in broadness to The Miraheze Cookbook.

I would like stewards to look at this wiki request and determine if the wiki request is approved. If not, I'll create a RfC about broadness thresholds of wikis.

See Special:RequestWikiQueue/41834. Silicona (talk) 18:33, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

All I have to do is look at your table to see that the wiki creators made the correct decision in both cases. Your miraHow proposal is obviously too broad. A wiki that combines recipes and ingredients, cuisine, and nutrition is all obviously on the same topic. A wiki that combines recipes, DIY home repair, and scientific research is obviously a free-for-all. This "controversy" makes less sense than Gamergate, even. Labster (talk) 19:16, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Steward adding my two cents here:
  • Tali was self-admittedly rushing through requests to clear the queue and wasn't adhering to review standards 100% of the time, the original cookbook request is not one I would have approved as-is for a few reasons...
  • Both wiki names convey an officiality that shouldn't have been/isn't permissible to approve
  • The guiding principle of request review is that a wiki must have a clearly defined topic and scope to be approvable.
    • the cookbook arguably has that (topic and scope limited to cooking)
    • The MiraHow request does not, as you may have infinite articles on infinite topics, verging on a WMF-like project.
This concept of defined topic and scope has always been a piece of the review process since I started as a WC, the difference is that we now have sufficient WC volunteers (and veterans to provide guidance) to properly apply review standards. While I don't personally see a need for an RfC on this topic, I would *strongly* encourage you to use the drafting process before launching one.

Not to pile on here, but I agree with NA, Labster, and Redfin on this. The scope of your wiki to too broad. Comparing it to the Miraheze cookbook is meaningless. I'd ask you to, again, stop creating (or threatening to create) pointless RfCs. Globe - (TalkContributionsCA) 20:44, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Silicona: I would like to add a comparison.
When you go to town for shopping for dinner, you go into a grocery store around the corner who provides you the ingredients. It's limited what you can get there. You won't find a chainsaw there.
When you want to create a dollhouse for your little girl, you go to the hardware store. But you won't find a cookbook there.
Now you could go to a Shopping center with a hardware store, a bakery, a supermarket, a book store etc. That's what a WikiHow is compared to our other wiki's with a limited scope like a bakery, a hardware store, a book store, etc.
I do like your idea, but the scope is too broad as mentioned above. As such it was declined.  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits  👀 Auth →  10:50, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Rename to "X"[edit | edit source]

Status:  Cannot be undertaken

There is a current X account, but it has no edits and was created many years ago. I'd like to request a usurpation for that account so I can claim that username. I use it on many wikis like TestWiki, The Test Wiki, MakeaWiki, etc. If usurpations aren't allowed, please let me know. Thank you. Globe - (TalkContributionsCA) 15:27, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There is no policy to allow for usurpation of inactive accounts by unrelated users, closing this as cannot be undertaken, thanks. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 18:23, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There have been cases where this has been done in fact, especially where there are 0 edits and the user has been contacted via their talkpage but has not replied. In this case however, I don't think it's particularly fair for a user to adopt such a generic username as "X" since there could clearly be multiple "contenders" for such a username. Reception123 (talk) (C) 13:18, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I am willing to reach out to them via talk page as is done on Wikipedia. Every other wiki(farm) I am on I use the username X. Miraheze is the only one where I am not named as such. While I understand it is generic, I think the fact that I use it on many other wikis does make up for that aspect. Globe - (TalkContributionsCA) 13:56, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Perhaps a global block request to Steward requests/Global would be more appropriate.    Waki285(talk|contrib|log|CA|Target) 09:15, 13 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Since you've reported this I'll be blocking the range but please do note that unless edits actually get through (i.e. if they're stopped by AbuseFilter) there's no need to report them as it would create too much unnecessary work for CVT and isn't needed unless they act. Request to change tag line of my wiki[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

In my submission, it was described as a cyclical fantasy world. Now it is a site focusing around correcting the errors by a group of hobbyists called battleboarders- not by insulting them, but by refuting their philosophy and making accurate character pages. VSBW (Vs Battle Wiki) is one of the biggest battleboarder sites- this is made to counter their misinformation. Avinselavinz (talk) 15:25, 13 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Approved for scope change please ensure that you follow all Content Policy rules and best practices on factual contents/neutral point of view when discussing real people. You can update site tagline information via Special:ManageWiki/core on your wiki. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 17:35, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Requesting Dormancy Policy Exception for Ultimate Knight Windom XP Wiki[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

I would like to request a dormancy exception for my wiki https://ukwxp.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page. It is setup to be a resource on how to competitively play the now abandonware PC arena fighter Ultimate Knight Windom XP. There are some strategy sections that could be filled out and edited over time but there isn't anything that needs to be actively edited as the game has not been updated since 2009. Most of the info on the wiki was personally tested by myself including character specifics, mechanics and a short-hand guide to setting up netplay. I've taken precautions to make sure the wiki can't be vandalized in-case I go prolonged periods without checking it.

Requestwiki block for Html123456[edit | edit source]

Status:  On hold

Html has kept re-opening their wiki request after having been declined and told to not resubmit no less then 10 times now. This is now a CIR issue as clearly the user has abused the wiki request system. See Special:RequestWikiQueue/40997#mw-section-comments. Globe - (TalkContributionsCA) 10:42, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you for the suggestion. It makes sense, but I issued a warning to him first. I hope this solves the problem, but if it doesn't I will block his wiki request. --1108-Kiju/Talk 11:13, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Speeding up wiki request review[edit | edit source]

Status:  Cannot be undertaken

Currently, I have two wiki reqeusts (TerraWorld; SuperFeral Wiki). While I understand that Stewards are not like robots to make reviews fast (after all, they're volunteers and might be busy in real life), I would like to see the process being sped up; I remember it took me less than an hour for my prior wiki requests to be reviewed, but nowadays it takes much longer. I would also like to see my further wiki requests by me having overall faster reviews. PiSoda (talk) 19:04, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No. All of the stewards and wiki creators are volunteers. They donate their time, effort, and resources to help Miraheze continue to grow. To insist they work faster, or to request an expedited review causes unnecessary pressure on our volenteers. As for previous requests taking less than an hour, that was a previous wiki creator who has since acknowledged that he was reviewing at an unsustainable rate. Globe - (TalkContributionsCA) 23:05, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
About the wiki requests being approved in an hour, the fast speed of reviews led to sometimes denying genuine requests and approving bad requests, creating unnecessary work for Stewards, this is why we don't expect volunteers to approve them at such a fast speed now. コレイ (talk) (contributions) 03:44, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Username usurpation of User:Doug[edit | edit source]

Status:  In progress

This will need to be in several parts. In the first part, User:Doug will need to be usurped as Doug. Note that the user is a 7 year old user accounts with zero global edits, as the edits on rosettacodewiki were not that user's edits, but rather were attributed to the user as the user had the same username as a user on the former rosettacodewiki (which was imported to Miraheze)

In the second part, you will need to globally rename me to Doug (without leaving redirects).

As part of the second part, SRE will likely need to run an SQL command to update my username from Dmehus to Doug in the global block table, as I believe a bug exists that that is not updated with the global rename

In the final part, can you create a new user Dmehus, and e-mail the password to my personal e-mail address (message me on IRC if you do not have it), to prevent impersonation?

Finally, I also own User:Doug on WikiTide, so this will make a much smoother transition and integration.

Cheers,
Dmehus (talk) 17:57, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Requesting for wiki scope change[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hi, I was told that I can't change the topic of my wiki so this is my approval submission
I'd like 2 change the topic of my wiki stardom.miraheze.org (Original topic was here bt i'd like 2 change the topic 2 to be an informative site about my books on Wattpad. the topic of my stardom wiki is already about one of my Books so I think it would be a good starting point for this new reflection.
