Request to Remove TestWiki Consul Rights[edit | edit source]

Status:  Not done

I am writing to formally request the removal of consul rights for the following users due to inactivity exceeding six months, which is against the local policies regarding the removal of consul rights:

According Public TestWiki local policies, consuls are required to maintain a reasonable level of activity, and inactivity beyond six months is grounds for removal of these rights. As these users have not met the activity requirements, I kindly request that their consul rights be revoked.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if you need any further information or clarification.

Best regards,  BZPN (talk)   14:57, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I wish to keep all my rights, as I plan to resume activity in the coming days. Thanks Zppix (Meta | talk to me) 15:40, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment: It has come to my attention that Reception123 requested an exemption from the removal of consul rights only after being notified about the request to revoke their rights due to inactivity. This action appears to be an attempt to circumvent the established policies, as the exemption was requested only after the issue was brought to light. Allowing such requests post-facto undermines the fairness and integrity of the process. Policies should be applied consistently and impartially, and exemptions should not be granted retroactively based on individual circumstances that arise only after a formal request has been made.

I urge the stewards to consider this and uphold the established rules.  BZPN (talk)   15:59, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You misunderstand the precedent here, exemptions historically have generally granted upon request for PTW. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:03, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think there is a general misunderstanding about how inactivity policies work and have always worked here. If an inactivity policy says that a user may be removed after three months of inactivity but they haven't actually been removed, they are perfectly able to return and edit and would no longer be eligible for removal. The purpose of inactivity policies isn't to "punish" inactive users but to encourage them to be active and therefore if they haven't been removed and decide to return that is considered to be a benefit for the project to have a volunteer return to being active. That's always how inactivity policies have applied on Miraheze and is in line with their purpose and scope. Reception123 (talk) (C) 16:11, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given related findings and deviation from intended purpose of inactivity policy, closing this request as not done. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:43, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If I can add some background here, there was an omnibus Test Wiki RfC that passed about a year ago. It was originally proposed by Agent Isai, but there were several other proposals, some of which were proposed by a since globally community banned user. One of those proposals was to remove the inactivity exemptions for global users and to add an inactivity policy for Consuls. Personally, I didn't love adding an inactivity policy for Consuls but thought that inactivity exemptions should still continue.
That said, BZPN was correct in raising this request here in line with local policies, even though I personally disagreed with that proposal.
I think a local community discussion is in order to revisit these things. Doug (talk) 02:50, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for unblock + disrespectful behavior + attempted to doxx me[edit | edit source]

Status:  Not done

I would like to report a user on the Alphaver Wiki. Here is the admin I am reporting. He blocked me after I tried to fix the wiki. He cursed at me several times and made quite an offensive edit summary. He even asked for my Minecraft username, which is just creepy and an invasion of privacy. I request an unblock in the name of an unfair block and to have him blocked for disrespecting me. Thank you. Grim kim (talk) 16:57, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A review of the matter indicates you were making a large number of edits with questionable or extremely minor basis resulting in local admin work to clean up. Therefore it appears your claim of fixing the wiki is contentious, and not something Stewards wish to act upon. I will make a note of the conduct, it is not ideal and should be avoided. There is otherwise no basis to block the administrator or otherwise intervene in this matter. --raidarr (💬) 18:45, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At the end of my talk page, the admin said that, if I wanted to appeal, I should provide him with my Minecraft username, which is a violation of privacy. At the very least, could something be done about that? Grim kim (talk) 21:45, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is unusual and I inquired about it, apparently the intent was to see if you were recognized in the minecraft community surrounding the wiki and in their terms, blacklist you. Not chivalrous and I have expressed my thought on the attitude that took place, but this does not merit intervention imo as you do not need to humor the request. --raidarr (💬) 22:08, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thank you very much. Grim kim (talk) 22:12, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Changing scope of my wiki[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Wiki: chilangodictionarywiki

I want to change the scope of my wiki for diversifying the content of my wiki for also include all slang from the Spanish language and from all dialects because I find it boring and limited that is just for mexican slang. Also I'm going to change the name of the wiki for fitting the new scope, let me just brainstorm it and I'll let y'all know. EmicraftNoob (talk) 00:31, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This seems like a much more appropriately-sized scope for the project. Approved. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 02:21, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thank u Emicraft 02:21, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can't change ManageWiki permissions on PTW[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hello! This discussion has closed, but I can create this group because the right has disabled for consuls could you re-enable it please? AlPaD (talk) 15:48, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@AlPaD: managewiki-permissions is assigned to the Consul group and is what is required to create groups. I've reset the cache for the wiki as it may have been afflicted with an error from yesterday, please try again and report what error is given if it still does not work. --raidarr (💬) 16:08, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It has fixed, thank you for your help! AlPaD (talk) 19:46, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Groups on my wiki removed or have had rights removed[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hi, I recently had my wiki created and I was able to use use it for all of one day before I suddenly lost the ability to edit, create, or delete pages as well as losing the ability to edit the wiki's settings. After some investigation I found out that I was still in all the appropriate groups but that said groups had been removed or had their rights removed but the logs don't show any changes to the groups. After asking for help on the discord I was advised to ask here for help from a steward. --HereticShinobi (talk) 06:43, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Coming from the discussion: I'm hoping that a steward can change a random ManageWiki setting to update the ManageWiki cache in the hopes that it would fix the permissions. If that doesn't work though, then we'll need Tech team intervention. BlankEclair (talk, contribs, CA) 06:48, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User confirmed reset was successful over Discord, marking as done. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 07:10, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Completely changing the topic and scope of my Wiki.[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hi, my wiki just got approved but i would like to completely change the topic of my wiki. I want to rename it to "The Grass is Greener Wiki" (an alternative history timeline wiki)

The Grass is Greener wiki will document an alternative timeline where pop culture and celebrities turn out more differently then in the original timeline. This wiki will mostly focus stuff like celebrities, events and other stuff in pop culture, but may touch on some other things that changes in this particular timeline. Some of the examples of stuff provided in this wiki are as follows:

- What if the Twin Towers still stood today?

- What if Marilyn Monroe still lived today?

This is intended more as alternate history wiki. Because real people and real events will be mentioned, the wiki will maintain a non-biased, neutral, and respectful point of view towards everyone and all events mentioned in this wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SolarisExplosive (talkcontribs)

While the change is approved, please note that the extreme swings between requested topics and this sudden shift immediately following creation are concerning to both Wiki Creators and stewards. You are encouraged to stay closely to the new scope, as deviation (especially into declined wiki topics) may risk closure of the wiki. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 20:39, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

tolerancenews.miraheze.org and edopedia.miraheze.org[edit | edit source]

Status:  Cannot be undertaken

Currently, Html123456, who was the only administrator of Tolerance News and Edopedia, has been globally locked due to vandalism on other wikis, and the administrator and bureaucrat are absent. In order to prevent this from becoming a lawless zone, I would like to have administrator and bureaucrat authority for both sites.--悪党セプテットや (talk) 09:04, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting user has been GDPR-vanished, further attempts to gain bureaucrat or admin rights should follow a local elections process similar to the one outlined here User_permissions_policy#Model_process. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 20:44, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete SSL[edit | edit source]

Status:  Cannot be undertaken

I requested a SSL for backrooms.jkun.cf and backroomszhwiki. But this URL is not good. So,I deleted the CNAME.But my wiki still redirect to backrooms.jkun.cf.Please delete SSL and cancel redirect. Corn Pig (talk) 03:58, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please file a ticket at https://issue-tracker.miraheze.org for the technology team to assist, instructions can be found on the Phorge page, this is not something stewards can assist on. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 20:22, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Main Page that wasn't added[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hi, I had my wiki verified on Sept 30th at 15:29 [EST] but found I wasn't given a domain, the feedback form for creation is also missing, so I'm sort of sitting here scratching my head. I created a ticket in the Discord for support, but still have yet to hear from the MediaWiki Specialists. Any input or help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for bearing with us, this job has been unstuck and I can confirm the wiki is now created with appropriate rights. Please reach out if there are any lingering issues --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 20:34, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting to change my wiki's scope[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

hello, I apologize that it's the second time that I'm asking this for a wiki but I am trying to do a merge with my old wikis and would like to rebrand the source to fit more with something i'm dedicated to rather than just a personal repository wiki. so hopefully it'll be the last time. 😁

I would like to rebrand my wiki (Shouganai's Creations to one that will be an encyclopedia for Spacebugs, an indie game dev and animation team that I am apart of. The wiki's scope will be about all of the games and other projects that were made under the team. It will contain a lot of information about said projects, along with other information about the team itself.

I hope this is sufficient enough, please tell me if it isn't

Shouganai (talk) 02:01, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A bit unorthodox of an approach, but I see the logic in what you're trying to do. Approved, please follow up with our tech team via Phorge if an update to the subdomain is also needed. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 01:48, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Shouganai (talk) 23:08, 11 October 2024 (UTC) okay, thank you : )[reply]

Completely new wiki Topic and Scope[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

So After the wiki https://uron.miraheze.org/wiki not going as planned and being very dead I would like to change the Wiki to NOOBEstudios for the url and name, a wiki about a Roblox group that creates games notably longest and shortest answer wins which would be useful to put answers up for. Truckki (talk) 19:20, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing source, no substantial issues discovered that would raise content policy concerns. Approved. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 19:49, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Remove "worst" from disallowed RequestWiki phrases[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

The word "worst" is not allowed in wiki request descriptions since Special:Diff/20213. However, this recently caused a request today to be unnecessarily denied (#miraheze, 2024-10-12 08:03 UTC). Since that word is the worst thing to be denied (pun intended), we probably should allow it. BlankEclair (talk, contribs, CA) 08:26, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Likely a holdover from reception wiki era, I've removed it for now, we can re-add if LTA/unfortunate behavior ensues. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 19:31, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe that the word was added due to the reception wikis - the change was made on 26 March 2017, a full year and a half before the reception wikis migrated to Miraheze; it's more likely that it was made as a response to the LTA that was active around that time period if I understand the situation and corresponding archives correctly. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 19:40, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to change the scope of my wiki[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

I'd like to change my wiki, brosimulatorwiki, to a general wiki relating to all the games created by Ooh Aah Studios. Currently the wiki only focuses on their game, Bro Simulator, but I'd like to make it encompass all their games; not just one. AkinfenwaStan (talk) 23:03, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Approved. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 17:10, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Remove the RemoveRedlinks extension from ourlifewiki[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

The RemoveRedlinks extension is currently buggy, and all red links are removed, even for logged in users, and even on Special:Search when it prompts you to create a page. I am not a crat, and am unsure if I could request temporary appointment with more contribution history or if I'd have to go through the local election process. Justarandomamerican (talk) 15:14, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extension removed, please proceed with a local election. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 17:11, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting to change my wiki's scope[edit | edit source]

Status:  Not done

I would like to change my wiki https://uron.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page to "Dictators: No Peace Countryballs" Wiki and also have the url changes to dnp.miraheze.org, the game is a countryballs game about colonising other nations to eventually conquer the world, which can be found here https://store.steampowered.com/app/1139890/DictatorsNo_Peace_Countryballs/

Truckki (talk) 16:43, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Truckki: This rescope is not approved, though it appears you have already begun rebranding. Please revert to your approved scope within the next week or your wiki may be closed. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:16, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am volunteering in removing countryball content, which is irrelevant in @Truckki's approved scope. Silicona (talk) 16:46, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not necessary, user has decided not to proceed with the wiki (and also not really something we generally deputize for without the user's request). --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:44, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Phabricator account deletion[edit | edit source]

Status:  Cannot be undertaken

Hello Stewards,

I would like to request the deletion of my Phorge (Phabricator) account on Miraheze. My Phorge username is[Virgxoblack].

Please let me know if any additional information is required.

Thank you! Virgxoblack (talk) 01:59, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Virgxoblack: Hi, I've moved this request to this page since SR is meant as a hub instead of an actual noticeboard, FYI. Also, Stewards can't handle deletion/GDPR of Phorge accounts, that needs to be done by tech team. I'll notify them. --╚PixDeVl╝ (Talk Contributions CentralAuth) 03:10, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Closing as cannot be undertaken, as this isn't a steward matter. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:19, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Status:  Done

Following my global rename, could a Steward or Global Administrator update "Dmehus" to "Doug" in Loginwiki's abuse filter #2? It's a long standing convention. Thanks! Doug (talk) 03:02, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Change my wiki's URL[edit | edit source]

Status:  Cannot be undertaken

I am rebranding my wiki Superhero Giant Crossover as Super Wahrrior's Fictiontopia. I want the URL to look like this "superwahrriorsfictiontopia.miraheze.org". Thanks. Pepsicoke01 (talk) 20:25, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Update: It has been two days and I still haven't got word from the stewards. Can a steward please reply? Thanks. Pepsicoke01 (talk) 22:17, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for bearing with the delay in response, we are a volunteer team with limited weekday availability.
Changing a wiki's URL is not in steward scope, please file a ticket at https://issue-tracker.miraheze.org so a member of the technology team can assist. Instructions can be found on the Phorge page if needed. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:29, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reset ManageWiki configuration (extensions and settings) for ourlifewiki to default settings[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

Hello! I made a task on Phorge and was redirected by BlankEclair to file a request here. Is it possible to reset the extensions and settings to their defaults for ourlifewiki? Justarandomamerican (talk) 00:20, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Partially done, Stewards are able to reset settings but not extensions to their default state. For specific extensions locked with managewiki-restricted that you still need enabled or disabled, please file a restricted settings request.--NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:56, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I'll try to trim unnecessary extensions myself. Justarandomamerican (talk) 17:03, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request Deletion of the User:Marcos Barreto page[edit | edit source]

Status:  Done

The current version history doesn't accurately reflect this account anymore. The reason why I changed it to the current username is because I have plans to make wikis compiling the content related to my works under this name. The idea is to delete the wiki so that it will better reflect what I do.‎ Marcos Barreto (talk) 17:28, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
