TheAnimeLover (talk) 12:16, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Mentioning DarkMatterMan4500 as the member who presided over the closure. Per the means of the wiki's closure, the wiki may be adopted normally or by simply by messaging a QP leader despite having been manually closed. Thus this should be able to be reopened for you perhaps without even requiring a Steward to engage, although these terms were set under the understanding the adopting user would receive "admincrat" rights as well - this would be DMM's discretion or would have to be done with a local election. For consistency I will ask you @TheAnimeLover: do you wish to also adopt the Upsetting Toys Wiki, as the second of a 'matching pair' for consistency? If you only have article ideas/see potential in the one though, it's not necessary. --Raidarr (talk) 16:32, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Raidarr Thanks for the tag. And I think I could assess this re-opening of the wiki, but will not be part of the Qualitipedia Network, but will be close by. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 16:37, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
just like the character reception wikis, the wiki should be reopened while at the same time it will be no longer part of the qualitypedias. TheAnimeLover (talk) 14:51, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
Naturally, there is no obligation to be part of QP. There's nothing on the front page or elsewhere to imply that anyway. I'm assuming by the response above that Upsetting Toys is not desired at this time, so no action is needed there. --Raidarr (talk) 14:56, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
@DarkMatterMan4500: how is this (reopening the wiki, primarily) coming along? --Raidarr (talk) Raidarr (talk) 23:28, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
I'll reopen the wiki now. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 00:26, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
Not done from a Steward perspective. The wiki is marked as private and the requesting user does not have read-rights per dormancy policy. Given above shows an active discussion between users with rights on the wiki, I will leave this to be resolved by said users rather than make an exception to policy. I've marked this as  Not done because if the wiki is not closed, then there is nothing for a Steward to do here and the previous adoption request is immaterial as well. All this process does is reopen the wiki. TylerMagee, it looks like this has been  locally reopened, though local administration is not very active. I would, therefore, suggest making a few constructive contributions to the wiki, then requesting permissions somewhere prominently (i.e., a noticeboard, a page in (Main) namespace), and then returning to stewards' noticeboard to request a Steward assess your local election request. • Are you a bureaucrat? (yes/no): No
  • Reason: Yes I know the wiki is not closed or inactive but completely abandoned with the last change being months ago (by a user who doesn't control the site, and mostly by a welcome extension bot with spambots being created on the site), you can even see them here in the recent changes. This wiki is important because it currently maintains 3K articles and doesn't deserve a deletion. With it abandoned, he runs the risk of suffering vandalism and other types of actions of bad faith and me perhaps being his administrator who would check or even contribute would be important for his continuation and would not be thrown out for once although I not edited it (or edited it a few times). And I know I have to do a local election, but I have to confirm it to you guys first here. If the owner (CooliCoister) of the site is alive, speak here, if he is alive and still accept that I control the site, I appreciate it. Also remember that I'm not robbing the site to make drastic changes to it, if it gets accepted I'll just be doing maintenance on it and contributing to more articles (although I haven't done anything there). Even if the author makes a few visits (if he is), he is unedited, that is, abandoned and done. Thanks for reading.

YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 04:02, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

I am performing a user close of this request because the exclusive function of this page is to reopen a wiki that you cannot contribute to, and as you stated the wiki is open to contributing. You mentioned that there was an owner; while he has not contributed since well over a year ago (and nobody else appears to have substantively edited at all since July), he has been recently active on Miraheze. For full diligence you can contact him via talk page. The place has a surprising number of bureaucrats, but no recent activity of any kind. If he does not reply at all, you could perform a local election as-is since nothing in local policies (not that I found any) precludes it and the activity gap will have been sufficiently large (though the fact he founded the place, is still active and probably controls the domain are all good incentives to ensure a response). But if you contact and he offers you the rights himself, so much the better. Otherwise this is a topic strictly to be made and addressed on the Stewards' noticeboard, as it is essentially out of scope here. I do however intend to inform a particular Steward to check over recent entries here today, since a small backlog has been collected. If my observations are off I am sure he will comment so. --Raidarr (talk) 11:19, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
@YellowFrogger: As discussed in private, you could probably stage an local election pursuant to global convention and be elected by acclamation should you run uncontested. As per Raidarr's comment, this  cannot be undertake under current global policy. Agent Isai Talk to me! 17:02, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
@Agent Isai: and @Raidarr: Thanks for the quick response, I would really love to adopt this wiki, however, can you tell how I would hold this local election? When making the election, would I wait a week or a few days? - this is my question about the time of the election, and if no have vote against and not against, would I still have a chance? And another question, I didn't do no edits on the wiki, does that take away my chances of adopting it? Although this is because I would be more happy to edit only after becoming a bureaucrat. Unfortunately, it looks like his answer for me will be a little difficult, he hasn't edited for 1 year and three months, meaning it's been a while, as he seems to be busy. The issue of the wiki being inactive, it's bad because the wiki doesn't seem to hold just bullshit and a little taste that I have for podcasts. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 17:34, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
Your chances do improve if you contribute as well as give an idea what you'd be contributing by doing so, although you don't strictly have to. It is not a formal process, indeed it's largely discretionary. It helps to be willing to edit without having powers in the first place as administration is ideally a more janitorial function and enhancer on top of what you are already doing. I wrote a piece that covers common pointers here that hopefully offers a usable gist. --Raidarr (talk) 18:58, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
@Raidarr: It would be one more chance to contribute to the project, but my fear here is that if I edit something inactive and it turns out it's not worth it at all? Given the inactivity of the editors, I think, the enthusiasm would be better if I edited with sysop rights already, because I think it would be more "worth it" and would have a better direction. Anyway, a while ago I looked at this wiki and didn't see any changes as usual, just spambots being created on the wiki and the welcome extension. There has already been a vandalism of the main page (in February 2021), which has been reversed by a global sysop, showing the inactivity of the wiki bureaucrats. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 19:19, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
Anyway, Agent Isai asked me to talk to CoolieCoister and he told me to wait at least 1 (one) week to get an answer. If he doesn't respond, then I do the local election. Is this correct (or do you agree) given your inactivity? YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 19:22, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
1 week is a standard length to wait for input, and 1 week is also a standard length for the local election to run. So overall, giving this 2 weeks to play out makes sense to me yes, and would provide the Stewards with something solid to review. --Raidarr (talk) 20:05, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
@Raidarr: No thank you. I would wait fewer weeks as a result of Coolister inactivity, and since Doug is active now, he has experience to handle this case, so I'll tag him: @Dmehus: YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 20:23, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
As mentioned initially, Coolster is available on Miraheze. He last edited within the week. Local elections presided by Stewards exist to offer a wiki administration where none is accessible. While they are not indeed present on the wiki, there has been no effort through the wiki itself (perhaps he has global notifications on and would get a message on his talk page right on the wiki?) or wider Miraheze (where he is demonstratively present) to get in contact. Being aware that they have been present in the last week and skipping straight to the election on a wiki he founded and probably is the actual domain owner for would be derelict, imo. But indeed I leave further discussion and discretion to Dmehus. --Raidarr (talk) 20:29, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── In addition to what's been said above, while a local election could be held, in cases like this with long aged wikis, I'd probably courtesy {{ping}} CoolieCoolster to assess the local election request locally, given their somewhat recent global activity and long tenure within the community. If the wiki suffers from spam, unreverted vandalism, the proper place to report this is either (a) stewards' noticeboard or #miraheze-cvt connect, so we can take care of it. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 20:42, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

@Raidarr: This time I didn't know it was active on a Miraheze wiki. Glad you quoted this wiki. So I have to wait a few days and I'll try to get in touch on one of those wikis he's recently edited. The site maintains its own domain, so it must pay for the maintenance of the site (although it doesn't even edit there). Either way, leaving me as a podpedia user with rights would be relevant so there are no edits on the site, and I would try to somehow edit it. If he doesn't want me there, then I won't be able to do anything. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 20:44, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: He probably wouldn't accept me as a user with rights there, for the simple reason that I haven't actively contributed to the site, so chances are lower that he'll accept. If he accepts (definitely believing me) he's very nice and I'm grateful to him for giving me a chance to edit and keep the site down, in addition to my fondness for podcasts. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 20:48, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
YellowFrogger, I would recommend contributing to the wiki in some fashion, even if it's just undoing or reverting vandalism, tagging vandalism or spam pages for deletion, and the like. As a constructive contributor to the wiki, you can request certain minor permissions (i.e., confirmed, autopatrolled, and rollbacker) from local administrators. If local administrators are not recently active, you can request a Steward to perform this function, but do be sure to point out the wiki's local user permissions granting policies. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 20:52, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
You should have messaged me sooner; I've granted you administrator rights on Podpedia to make whichever changes you believe would improve it from its current state. I admit the lack of readership the wiki had led me to lose interest, so if you have an idea of how to improve Podpedia to make it interesting beyond the few pages that currently appear on search engines, feel free to implement changes! While I still have much to work on in regards to my current wiki, if you have any questions regarding the format of Podpedia, feel free to message me again. CoolieCoolster (talk) 21:50, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
@CoolieCoolster: Thank you for granting administrator rights on the wiki, although I would like to be a bureaucrat (sorry for the bold question) to make changes especially on the outdated theme which makes it difficult to see the history, or the edit button which is hidden, to add some important extensions to avoid Lua module errors (and also I don't have a lot of time, but that was my request). His complaint in saying that "few pages show up in search engines" is primarily due to Miraheze's not-so-good SEO (because you build your own SEO using WikiSEO, this extension is disabled on the wiki) and according to some content is copied from Wikipedia. Search engines do not like duplicate content and always try to use original content that you create yourself. There are a lot of podcast pages that don't exist on Wikipedia - and this is a chance for us to create original content instead of duplicating Wikipedia's, because, in addition to being unoriginal, it gets in the way of search engines. Also, wiki hits aren't that bad, according to MatomoAnalytics, around 1,500 hits for an outdated site - I've seen worse. I will try to use the limited little knowledge in some podcasts to maybe create a little bit of content on this wiki and probably raise "even a little bit" it, as podcasting is the fad at the moment and English language wikis achieve something else. Of course, without copying the content from Wikipedia and activating WikiSeo for us to see something. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 22:23, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
Made the change; you're now a bureaucrat on the wiki. CoolieCoolster (talk) 01:03, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Note that this wiki is quite difficult to get back to how it was before, unfortunately almost impossible to have editors. I'll do an impromptu one. Besides that it's clogged up with several thread pages. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 01:07, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

To do so, go to Special:ManageWiki/core (direct link to your wiki) on your wiki and uncheck the "Closed" checkbox. If you need anything else, let us know. Agent Isai Talk to me! 08:22, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
Agent Isai Note that the user is not required to add the /core suffix. Special:ManageWiki will suffice. The /core suffix is really for ManageWiki interwiki changes that Stewards perform from time to time from Meta Wiki. Dmehus (talk) 16:13, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
Raintwinkleworkouttie,  Done per your request. Though, as Agent Isai suggested above, you could've done this yourself, like you even did previously back in September 2020. Nevertheless, whether you had the technical means to do or so not does not preclude me from guiding you, by way of demonstration, on how to reopen your wiki. Should this occur again, just go to here, untick any 'closed' and/or 'inactive' boxes, enter a brief log summary, and hit 'save'. Thanks. :) Dmehus (talk) 16:09, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

FatBurn0000, with apologies for the delayed response, but given that this wiki has only two or three pages, which propose to highlight "good" and "bad" qualities, none of which are cited reliably, this wiki was likely questionably approved, at best. Given the high potential for Content Policy issues, this would need a local wiki administration team that is not only active and fully familiar with all of our global policies, but also incredibly well versed in the subject matter of the wiki in question. By your own admission, you have no knowledge of the wiki and have no interest in maintaining it as a local bureaucrat/administrator, so the mere fact you just want to add a page or two is not sufficient to warrant reopening this wiki. Moreover, Dormancy Policy even prescribes that wikis may exist, so long as they have active editors willing to maintain them, and I believe to reopen the wiki, so you can make a few edits, would be upending the spirit, if not the letter, of Dormancy Policy. Accordingly, I'm marking this as  not done, but should you later desire to learn more about the subject, you can request a wiki for wiki creators to review, provided you take care to define a clear purpose and scope for your wiki, and clearly describe (a) the type of content it will contain and (b) not run afoul of our global policies. Hi Lunar Spectrum, you are already the bureaucrat on oureurovisioneshwiki. You can go to the Special:ManageWiki/core of your wiki (link) and uncheck the closed option to reopen your wiki. Thanks! Magogre (talk) 11:40, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
Magogre, thank for your reply. Please do note that the /core suffix is not needed to manage the core wiki functions on local wikis. This is only required when managing a wiki's core functions from Meta Wiki (because you have to add the wiki's database name following that). In other words, while it will still work, it is an unnecessary redundancy and extraneous text. Note that you can test this by going to Special:ManageWiki/blubabluba (note the /blubabluba suffix, which does not exist anywhere in the ManageWiki codebase). I've also let Agent Isai know of this, too. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 23:20, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus, oh. Thanks for the clarification. :) Magogre (talk) 09:55, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
Lunar Spectrum, as Magogre indicated above, you can go into Special:ManageWiki, untick 'closed' and/or 'inactive', enter a brief log summary, and then hit 'save' to reopen your wiki. Nevertheless, I've  reopened your wiki for you this time. Dmehus (talk) 23:15, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

  • Reason: So the first thing is that I am a huge CountryHumans fan, I have been in the fandom for 3 years, so I know a lot about CountryHumans. Second, the creators/creators of the wiki for some reason made it private, which is why no one could read the wiki, edit and create new pages on the wiki, and I really want to get this wiki done. Please!

ZoomBoom Artist (talk) 13:59, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

@ZoomBoom Artist: I'm not a steward or anything, but I'm fairly confident you can't adopt private wikis unless you're a member. You should probably ask a bureaucrat to give you member rights. FatBurn0000 (talk) 23:27, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
If the wiki was closed without community consent and for the intention of making it impossible to adopt, I suggest making a case on the Stewards' noticeboard. Otherwise this is indeed not possible to do in accordance with policy. I've marked it not done as a user, since the wiki being set to private places it outside the process of this page. --Raidarr (talk) 22:35, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
ZoomBoom Artist Having reviewed the wiki, I can confirm that this wiki was normally closed in accordance with Dormancy Policy. Only its original requestor, MrBendy777, has local read permissions on the wiki, and there have been no log entries to the wiki's user rights log. The wiki was last edited 13 September 2021 so should be deleted around that time in March 2022. Unless you are the alternate account of MrBendy777, in which case, you will need to sign in to MrBendy777 to confirm this, you will, unfortunately, need to choose a new subdomain. Onakin, thank you for your request to have this wiki reopened. While it looks to have closed automatically according to Dormancy Policy, I am familiar with this wiki, as it serves as a sort of central coordination wiki for a group of Japanese language wikis. As your account was only created a little over 24 hours ago, you are not a pre-existing contributor to this wiki's community, so I'm curious as to why you're wanting to have it reopened, given its limited purpose and scope outside of the group of Japanese language wikis? Have you used any prior Miraheze accounts and, if so, are you able to login from that account and reply here confirming the same? This would help me tremendously for the purposes of assessing your request. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 23:48, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Dmehus, thank you for your reply. I want to restart this wiki because I want to develop it project. This project does various things from Japanese dictionaries to railway encyclopedias. @RyanC: Hello! I am dross, a Miraheze volunteer. Unfortunately, your request here cannot be completed, as adoption is not the process for requesting permissions on an inactive wiki. The wiki is not currently closed, and should not automatically close for approximately 20 more days. You may edit the wiki freely. If you would like local permissions like administrator or bureaucrat, you will need to post an on-wiki request seeking community input, then report the results to stewards at Stewards' Noticeboard. Hello. Why do you want to adopt this wiki? Recently after the migration, the recent changes went into the restore process, and the script made a mistake by closing the wikis involuntarily. Hello Tin2019, apologies for the inconvenience. There was a bug that caused wikis to close after recent changes were reset across the platform. I'm afraid that adoptions no longer add management rights for the wiki; a local election is necessary if the original bureaucrat does not give you permissions (admin/bureaucrat). When the wiki is reopened and if you like, I can start that process for you since you're a prolific and key contributor to the wiki. Hello Gabyp112, the closure was done by accident (a bug). The wiki will be reopened shortly, as I have pointed a Steward to the recent requests. Apologies for the inconvenience. --Raidarr (talk) 21:14, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@ZX-EXE: This wiki was recently edited on January 13th, not 60 days ago and shouldn't be closed. It was due to a migration bug that caused all wikis to close (even though it was recently edited). Ask a steward to open the wiki at stewards noticeboard, or contact local bureaucrats. --YellowFrogger (Talk) 17:28, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
