From the comments above it's clear that almost no one understands exactly what these proposals want to accomplish. Therefore, per the RfCP I am closing this RfC early as it hasn't been drafted in advance and is too vague or unclear. As you know, users who create new wikis fork most pages from wikimedia. There is a global policy change proposal on this right now. Do you think wikis with forks of Wikimedia should be cleaned and closed, or should wikis not be closed? Looking forward to your questions about this question. Proposal 1: Finding and deleting Wikimedia forks

If it is a wiki created with a Miraheze infrastructure and more than 60% is a fork of Wikimedia, the wikis should be found by Miraheze users and closed by the wiki creators. Hey Türkiye ^message? 09:26, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

Commentary

1.  Comment: I'm not sure what this RfC is requesting. As current wikis which are more or less forks with extreme duplication are already targeted and closed, and can be reported to Stewards as such. Does this seek to lower/explicitly define the ratio required or?... I'm not sure what the addition is. The wording of proposal 2 is unclear. I get that it says 'forks should never be closed' but adding 'or when global policy in effect' is odd, perhaps you mean 'except when'? But global policy is already the cause of closure in the cases I've seen so far. --Raidarr (talk)

3.  Comment: It's rather presumptuous, and likely flat out false, that users who create new wikis fork most pages from wikimedia. Both through personal anecdote and watching the activities of other experienced users, it is most common to fork a minimal amount of content. Often, that value is even zero. If your project requires a substantial fork of content from an existing project, it isn't much of a project itself. If all this is the case, maybe you shouldn't be working on it in the first place because you do not have an original idea. As I made clear in Requests for Comment/Content Policy reform, Inability of a user to abide by relevant conventions or rules of the original project is not justification for a fork. dross (t • c • g) 08:01, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
