Requests for Comment/Dormancy policy exception for wikis larger than 1,000 articles and 10,000 edits

- This RfC, whilst well-intentioned and good-faith, is moot as Dormancy Policy in no way precludes wikis with more than a set number of articles or edits from receiving a Dormancy Policy exception. Indeed, there's intentionally no such limitations because what matters is that there be a demonstrated need for a Dormancy Policy exception. We're generally pretty liberal with that. So, if you need one, just ask at stewards' noticeboard. Dmehus (talk) 05:43, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
In my opinion, medium/large wikis, like those that have more than 1,000 articles and 10,000 edits, cannot be excluded by the Dormancy Policy, because the author has worked hard for this wiki, or has no more articles to create (or lack of time) and then came out. Also because it would be too cowardly and sad for a wiki with a lot of already-worked content to be deleted in minutes like this wiki here, which has many articles, but almost no editors
As it already has a lot of content, so it would be a little useless for someone to request one with a similar category. Instead, he can contribute to this current wiki. About being an admin and bureaucrat of this wiki, it would have no problems, because he would ask a steward (or something like that) from Miraheze, then the steward would decide whether to give the sysop tools or not.
I know keeping wikis down is work because they eat up space, and it's more expensive. And I found that most of the wikis deleted for inactivity are small wikis, (mostly wikis where there was no edits (just the main page automatically generated and that's it)), and here, the dormant policy would be an exception for just wikis big, then it will be worth it.

Oppose[edit | edit source]
Strong oppose This is a good faith RfC, but I have to oppose this. It would be a waste of storage for the farm if the wiki is unused, and there is a good amount of time for the wiki to be deleted, allowing a bureaucrat to unlist the wiki as inactive/closed. 22:40, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Bukkit: Most deleted wikis are small wikis. People tend to abandon wikis because they take work. Wikis larger than 1,000 articles and 10,000 edits are somewhat rare in Miraheze. From 7299 wikis, about 100 of them have multiple articles and multiple edits. I understand what you mean, it would be a waste for a wiki farm that makes money from donations alone. But, what would you think for a 3,000 article and 100,000 issue wiki being deleted?

- My point still stands. 23:20, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
