    • I am fine with this one except I'd rather expect the Miraheze logo to visually align with the MediaWiki logo's thin font... That's way too thick as it is. — revi 16:49, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
I largely concur with this; I like the idea and the example as a draft, the trick was getting it to pass by more eyes to have a refined form as seen in proposal 3. --Raidarr (talk) 01:18, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

    Option 2[edit | edit source]

The existing footer button (now restored).

    2.  Oppose Current suggestion (proposal 3) fits better in the footer alongside the mediawiki button. This one in comparison is not a particularly great fit. At most I would use this as an interim until a polished form of Proposal 1 showed up, and it's appeared. There's no reason to continue with this one. --Raidarr (talk) 01:20, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
@Raidarr: But this is perfect button. Respects margin and has no cut. The one above (option 3) the letters are close to Honeycomb YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 01:44, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
Option 3 is below. That said, I will not pitch an option for correctable errors. However, I do suggest when Lakelimbo addresses option 3's side, he also consider shifting the text slightly right as I do agree it isn't as centered as it could be between open space. The honeycomb could also move just slightly to the left to distribute space, and overall I suggest tweaking the text thickness to be just a hint smaller while using the existing Powered by MediaWiki button as a guide, as I believe it is for the best of the platform if they are as competitively structured as possible. I disagree with the nature of the support above, but the rationale behind it is worth the time; the extent of these changes may justify a proposal 7 if taken to their fullest extent. --Raidarr (talk) 11:23, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

A version with the proper margins and the current font used by Miraheze. It's also a vector image instead of a raster. File:Miraheze footerproposal1.svg  —Lakelimbo (talk)  19:03, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

    6. I have a  Strong support for this; I was about to personally propose this change tbh, But it seems MacFan4000 was a bit faster ;) heh. The Miraheze that's the only text there makes almost no sense, because it doesn't pass the message appropriately, Hosted by Miraheze sends the message, that's supposed to be passed across viewers, appropriately. I suspect this is due to ImageMagick. The actual image (if you have clicked on it) does not have problems with the borders.  —Lakelimbo (talk)  21:50, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
There is nothing wrong with the sides. --Raidarr (talk) 01:21, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

    1.  Comment: Also ugly. What Miraheze would have was to change your logo, this honeycomb makes things ugly and it's weird. YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 19:07, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
      1. To change the logo (the honeycomb) would need a major community consensus, and I doubt most people would like, because the hexagons are already kind of a aesthetic signature of Miraheze, despite being quite simple.  —Lakelimbo (talk)  19:14, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

Comment: The images are in vector and the probable answers are already SVG. I find this suggestion as well as the nature of your oppositions above to be rather strange. --Raidarr (talk) 01:23, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

@Raidarr: What do you mean 'Strange'? Could you tell me how? YellowFrogger (Talk Edits) 01:57, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
@YellowFrogger: I'm not raidarr but I think I can explain, the options you opposed WERE svg. So now you're opposing svg there but supporting svg here. Anpang Talk
Suppelmenting Anpang's accurate statements, I also consider the strength of your oppositions and supports, but the limited rationale used to justify them. In case of the oppose it seems like a minor error that can be corrected that does not deserve such vehemence. --Raidarr (talk) 11:17, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

    General comments[edit | edit source]

I know this is about the logo specifically — and IMO I like both — but would be possible to add .5em of margin to the left of the icon? It always bothered me how the Powered by MW and Hosted by MH icons do not have any X-gap.  —Lakelimbo (talk)  16:44, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

This can be done easily be changing “poweredby” in this line to something like “hostedby”. That string defines the button group and MediaWiki only puts space between groups and not individual buttons. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 01:56, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

How about just make the miraheze footer button be able to be changed by the wiki owners? And make the most voted one in this RfC the default one. Anpang Talk 01:37, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

The proposed differences in the deployed, and revised but as yet to be deployed, logos are quite minor. I can hardly see a difference between two of them. That being said, I wonder if SRE could create a hook or ManageWiki variable that would allow users to define one of two or three possible Miraheze logos? Logos would be housed on Miraheze Commons, of course, but just some fodder for discussion. Dmehus (talk) 07:05, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

To extend the above further, perhaps alternate versions can be selected for both the MediaWiki and Miraheze logos, perhaps to the extent they can simply be buttons without text to blend into a native design scheme in the name of options. --Raidarr (talk) 11:25, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
