A global lock is a technical measure that stewards and global sysops can use to prevent an account from logging into any wiki on Miraheze, thus completely disabling access to the account. When an account is locked, all attempts to log into it will fail. It is usually applied to vandalism-only accounts, spam-only accounts, compromised accounts, or highly disruptive accounts that have been spotted abusing multiple wikis. An account that has been globally locked can also be configured to have its username be hidden on all logs; this is used for disruptive or inappropriate names.

To request a global lock, please use the Stewards' noticeboard.

To appeal a global lock, please email stewards at miraheze.org
