Self Insert Wiki Request Reminder[edit | edit source]

Hello, ViridiFlavo here, just wanted to check in on if you had remembered my request for the Self Insert wiki. You had initially reviewed it, and asked for me to define what rules and regulations I would set in place for the hypothetical wiki the other day, which I had already done. Again, I am just reminding you about the Self Insert Wiki that I had requested, and for you to decide whether to approve or decline my request. ViridiFlavo47 (talk) 01:12, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Community portal is not the avenue for this. Wiki Creators are volunteers with limited time who review requests when possible. Making a CN post only to 'remind' us, isn't necessary. The reviewing Wiki Creator will respond to your request when they are available :) ╚PixDeVl╝ (Talk Contributions CentralAuth) 01:16, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I want to upload a YouTube video, but I'm not sure about Wiki grammar.[edit | edit source]

So I can only provide a link, so please let me know. Gamehero (talk) 08:37, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You can add videos by going into ManageWiki> Wiki Extensions> EmbededVideo and check that box. After you save, you will see on the sidebar and option to "upload new video" and then follow the directions on that page.
Hope that helped! Commetian Empire (talk°•◇•°CentralAuth) 15:28, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What?! I understand that importing YouTube videos is done through some string, like a link, right? It's hard to find the Wiki Manager link, so please show me a demonstration. This Page in the This Video! Gamehero (talk) 07:19, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You can also enable the YouTube extension in Special:ManageWiki/extensions; once it's enabled, all you have to do to embed YouTube videos is do <youtube>[video ID]</youtube>. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 07:22, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
<youtube>-Ke2is8ssMs&t</youtube> ??? I definitely activated it... Gamehero (talk) 07:38, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Meta does not have the YouTube extension enabled, which is why it doesn't appear to work here; each wiki has separate ManageWiki configurations, so what may work on one wiki may not work on another without enabling some settings. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 07:58, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Template (help needed)[edit | edit source]

I have a template with the following code:

<span class="original-research-content" style="padding-left:0.1em; padding-right:0.1em; color:var(--color-emphasized, #595959); border:1px solid #DDD;">{{{content}}}</span>[<i>Original research</i>]<ref group="n.">{{{explanation}}}</ref>

Everything works fine, except the reference list only shows {{{explanation}}}. I can't seem to see the problem so I'm hoping someone else will be able to spot it. This is what I've been putting in:

{{Original research span|content=(née Jackson)|explanation=The only William Lunn born in the area in 1972 has a mother with the maiden name Jackson. See: ‘William Lunn’ (1872). Transcript of birth certificate for William Lunn, quarter 4 1872. Vol 9B, p.332. Hunslet District.}}

 Rothwell (talk) 01:20, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The beginning <ref> tag is misplaced; it should enclose everything starting from the span containing {{{content}}}. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 01:31, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry, I didn't explain that very well. It looks like this:
but the footnote for [n.2] shows "{{{explanation}}}" instead of "The only William Lunn born in the area in 1972 has a mother with the maiden name Jackson. See: ‘William Lunn’ (1872). Transcript of birth certificate for William Lunn, quarter 4 1872. Vol 9B, p.332. Hunslet District."
I think, though I could be wrong, that what I'm trying isn't possible because of this: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Cite#Substitution_and_embedded_parser_functions Rothwell (talk) 01:43, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It appears that I've misinterpreted your issue; I can indeed confirm that using {{#tag:ref|}} does in fact work (though you can't apply any groups to it; otherwise the note would just say group="[whatever]"). Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 02:26, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Issues with dark mode on my wiki's aesthetics[edit | edit source]

I have been setting up the Klonoa Wiki on this platform for a while now, and I have run into some issues with my preferred aesthetics.

  1. I chose to use an SVG for the logo because it's much less blurry than a PNG or other image format. However, this led to an issue where its colors would invert whenever dark mode was enabled. I tried adding some CSS to force it to display light mode colors, but it didn't seem to work. Is there a way/workaround to make an SVG display the same colors no matter what? I know it's possible, but I don't know if it requires more permissions than Miraheze allows.
  2. Dark mode also causes an issue with the background gradient I set up on desktop. In light mode, it will fill the entire screen no matter how far the reader scrolls down, as intended. However, on dark mode, it cuts off if you scroll down at all. Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you for your time. SummerShores (talk) 05:24, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello,
  1. The dark mode extension works by adding filter: invert(1) hue-rotate(180deg) into <html>, and adds it again to "revert" dark mode for certain elements. Unfortunately, that revert doesn't appear to work for SVGs: css revert filter with invert(1) and hue-rotate(180deg) and How to negate or cancel CSS `hue-rotate` on SVG tags?
  2. I believe you can do this by adding .client-darkmode { background: revert; } to MediaWiki:Vector.css.
You're welcome. BlankEclair (talk) 06:20, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I appreciate the help! Pity to hear about the SVG, but the fix you suggested for the background gradient worked!
I noticed that images on the wiki have their colors slightly shifted when viewed in dark mode - generally looking more washed-out than they should be. (This doesn't affect the actual file, just how it's displayed.) As an example, compare this screenshot (light mode) with the same one as seen in dark mode - the colors of the green diamonds are noticeably more muted. Is this also a consequence of the filter: invert function, or is there a way to fix it?
SummerShores (talk) 07:04, 12 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You're welcome! I'm guessing that it's a consequence of filter: hue-rotate(180deg) rather than filter: invert(1), though I'm not 100% sure. I can look further into which one does it if you want. BlankEclair (talk) 07:09, 12 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How to deal with sortable tables with sections?[edit | edit source]

Take the following table as an example:

Title Duration
Playlist 1
Title 1 1:00
Title 2 1:00
Playlist 2
Title 3 1:00
Title 4 1:00

When I sort by Title or Duration, the "sections" Playlist 1 and Playlist 2 get moved around. Is there a way to prevent this whilst allowing sorting for the videos inside the playlists, or do I have to disable sorting for this table or move the playlists outwards into their own separate tables? BlankEclair (talk) 06:00, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's not recommended to add sorting to tables with "sections" as you call it. See Wikipedia's Table dos and dont's and this for reference. Harommel Rabbid (talk) 08:44, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
MediaWiki has a Help Page which lists the options. I use data-sort-value which give me flexibility.
{| class="wikitable sortable"
! Title
! Duration
|-
! data-sort-value="Playlist 1" colspan="2" | Playlist 1
|-
| data-sort-value="Playlist 1.2"| Title 2
| data-sort-value="Playlist 1.1"| 1:00
|-
| data-sort-value="Playlist 1.1"| Title 1
| data-sort-value="Playlist 1.11"| 11:00
|-
! data-sort-value="Playlist 2" colspan="2" | Playlist 2
|-
| data-sort-value="Playlist 2.4"| Title 4
| data-sort-value="Playlist 2.1"| 1:00
|-
| data-sort-value="Playlist 2.3"| Title 3
| data-sort-value="Playlist 2.11"| 11:00
|}
Title Duration
Playlist 1
Title 2 1:00
Title 1 11:00
Playlist 2
Title 4 1:00
Title 3 11:00
- PercyUK (talk) 11:08, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hacky, but it does work. I ended up splitting the table into separate tables though. BlankEclair (talk) 12:18, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

mass categorisation[edit | edit source]

Hello, I am trying to figure out how to add extensions and found it very difficult. I have yet to figure out how MSUpload can be added to a wiki.

For now, I would like to know if there is a Mariheze equilavant of Fandom's:

1. MassCategorization > https://dev.fandom.com/wiki/MassCategorization

2. ListFiles > https://dev.fandom.com/wiki/ListFiles

so I can easily select my massuploaded files and mass categorize them

If I move a wiki here I can easily add all missing files. Leahcinnamon (talk) 10:22, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have yet to figure out how MSUpload can be added to a wiki.

I'm assuming your wiki is leahtherapy.miraheze.org. You can go to https://leahtherapy.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/extensions, and then search for "MsUpload". Check the box for MsUpload, fill in a reason in the "Reason for this change..." textbox (you could enter "Enable MsUpload" here), then click Save. Hopefully that helps.

For now, I would like to know if there is a Mariheze equilavant of Fandom's:

  1. MassCategorization > https://dev.fandom.com/wiki/MassCategorization
  2. ListFiles > https://dev.fandom.com/wiki/ListFiles
Unfortunately, I don't know of many non-tech savvy solutions. If you still want to know though, here are your options for MassCategorization that I know of:
  • Extension:MassEditRegex: An extension that allows you to do bulk, automated edits on pages. Requires some knowledge on regular expressions for this use case.
  • AutoWikiBrowser: A tool that you download to do semi-automated and automated edits on pages. There's an option to append text to pages (so you don't need to learn regular expressions), but I don't know how involved its setup is
  • JavascriptWikiBrowser: A replica of AutoWikiBrowser, but it executes entirely in your browser (i.e. you don't need to download anything). Requires some knowledge on regular expressions for this use case. Was a bit hard for me to figure out how to navigate/to use at first, though I quickly learned how to.
As for ListFiles:
  • AutoWikiBrowser and JavascriptWikiBrowser both feature the ability to generate a list of pages from a myraid of sources.
You can also try to copy the code from MassCategorization and ListFiles and put it on your wiki or your personal user account. Let me know if you need an elaboration on any of these, and I'll try to help.
I hope that helps, at least somewhat. BlankEclair (talk) 12:16, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Setting up hierarchical permissions for user roles in my wiki[edit | edit source]

Hello everyone,

I'm seeking guidance on how to configure hierarchical permissions for user roles within my wiki on Mirahaze. Here's what I'm aiming to achieve:

Administrator: Full access to all wiki functionalities, including creating, editing, moving, and deleting pages, as well as managing user roles and permissions.

Moderators: Ability to create, move, delete pages, update content, moderate discussions, and perform other administrative tasks, but not have access to all administrative controls.

Members: Restricted to participating in discussions and viewing pages, without the ability to create or edit content, similar to read-only access.

I've tried adjusting permissions under "Manage wiki permissions" to grant only "read" access to members, but I'm facing issues where they can still create and edit pages unless each page is individually protected for administrators only.

Could someone please assist me with configuring these roles effectively? I need members to participate in discussions only, without the ability to create or edit pages unless explicitly allowed.

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards, Tilabras (talk) 14:10, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Additionally, I would like to ensure that the "create account" option is not available to the public and that only administrators have the ability to create new accounts on the wiki. How can I configure this so that the registration process is restricted to administrators only?
Thank you again for your assistance!
Best regards, Tilabras (talk) 16:12, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It should be possible to configure user groups in this way. Most of the relevant configuration is in ManageWiki, where you can remove all rights related to creating pages other than createtalk from the member group and assign them to the moderator and admin groups; while removing the createaccount permission from non-administrators is technically possible, it has little effect since Miraheze accounts are shared across all wikis (users can simply register on another wiki such as Meta and visit your wiki, though they shouldn't be able to even view it if they're not a member). Restricting editing is a bit trickier, but it can be done via an abuse filter such as this:
action == "edit"

& page_namespace % 2 == 0 /* Talk namespaces are always odd, thus content namespaces are always even */

& !("createpage" in user_groups) /* Only triggers if members don't have the "createpage" right */
The filter's action should be configured to disallow, perhaps with a custom message explaining that regular members can't edit content pages (custom AbuseFilter messages can be created in the MediaWiki namespace since the namespace is just a regular namespace). Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 16:24, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello,
Thank you for your guidance on configuring user groups and permissions.
I attempted to apply the suggested abuse filter to restrict members from editing content pages. However, it appears that the filter is also affecting moderators, preventing them from editing pages as well.
I need to ensure that only members are restricted and receive the custom message, while moderators and administrators retain their editing privileges.
Could you please assist me in adjusting the filter to meet this requirement? Your help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best regards,
Tilabras Tilabras (talk) 12:02, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I read the Multiple Account Policy, is the socks allowed if user not to abuse the accounts(eg. use it to make many upvotes)? Policied (talk) 09:12, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, it is allowed (I personally have another account myself: BlankEclairBot). There's also this essay: Alternate accounts. BlankEclair (talk) 09:16, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I look RecentChanges that block of User:Googologyer is wrong. Policied (talk) 09:18, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Clarification for the future (since I saw revision 402663): By socks here, I thought you meant alternative accounts, not sockpuppets to avoid sanctions. Avoiding sanctions is not allowed. BlankEclair (talk) 12:42, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Where is rule in that? Policied (talk) 12:44, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
User accounts policy: Multiple accounts belonging to the same person may be blocked as a group or individually depending on the severity of any misuse, this is up to the blocking/locking staff member
Requests for Comment/User accounts and addresses: Upon misuse of multiple accounts, staff may disable access to one or all accounts depending on the severity of misuse.
Using different accounts to avoid sanctions is a misuse of that account. BlankEclair (talk) 12:57, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This is for abuse of multiple accounts, for example use multiple account give myself votes.
second that is RfC not policy Policied (talk) 13:01, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Is a administrator can use "sock" reason to block/lock any user without evidance? Policied (talk) 13:02, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have not to see it rule. Policied (talk) 12:44, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It has been well-demonstrated that you are not able to see rules that are well-defined. Common sense dictates that if you are banned for disruptive editing, making another account to continue being disruptive is not permitted, especially after you have been informed of this several times. The policies that have been linked to have made it clear that making another account after being banned is not permitted. You being unable to understand this is due to your poor English comprehension, not because it isn't stated. コレイ (talk) (contributions) 20:38, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

DISPLAYTITLE is not working[edit | edit source]

According someone's report on "testwiki", a lot of edits test means the DISPLAYTITLE not working. This is need help by Steward or Administrator that who can access FTP. Policied (talk) 09:24, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

DISPLAYTITLE works with correct settings - for some reason default setting is to restrict DISPLAYTITLE, it has to be allowed instead; example. Legroom (talk) 06:40, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

RfC: Block Policy is required[edit | edit source]

Meta have blocks by administrator, but it no a correctly rules for block on Meta. It will make some administrator block wrongfully or unjustly. So I require Miraheze administrators set a rule of block policy. Policied (talk) 12:53, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

301 redirect from www to without www[edit | edit source]

I noticed that my wiki at lebork.info.pl works properly, but at www.lebork.info.pl it is not displayed and redirects to the Miraheze website. Please change it using a 301 redirect to an address without www Danielg28 (talk) 20:28, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It seems like a task to be made via Phorge. I admin a wiki which will change URL to custom soon while already being registered in Google Search Console, and it also mentions 301 redirect - I'm not sure what to do and assume only Miraheze sysadmins can do that. Legroom (talk) 06:32, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just FYI, a task has already been created: T12223. BlankEclair (talk) 07:04, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Can I add a custom skin[edit | edit source]

I want to add a custom skin to my Odd Squad Wiki based on the gold scheme used in the Odd Squad logo Lukas3434 (talk) 01:59, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, you can. See Extensions#Disclaimers for the process of adding a new extension/skin. BlankEclair (talk) 02:23, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A few SocialProfile-related questions[edit | edit source]

Hello there! I have a few questions about my wiki, Horizonspedia.

1. SocialProfile Awards not being awarded: I made quite a few awards since I added SocialProfile a few days ago, one of them being the Silver Hattena Award. I reached 300 edits as I had specified, and... Nothing happened! 🎉 Okay, jokes aside, is it just because I created the award? Did I do something wrong? I attached an image if that helps.

2. Does PollNY have to add those unnecessary categories?: I noticed when making a poll, it adds 2 categories I don't want: The date (month day, year), and who made it (polls by user). Is there any way to remove those? I just don't want to have tons of categories that aren't really needed.

3. Special:TopUsers does not work: I've made quite a few edits and a poll, but my points on Special:TopUsers remain at 2,000. Is it just because I'm the only editor, or is it something else?

So, if anybody has any solutions, I'm all ears! Thank you so much for your time! 😀PawnShop75 (💬talk|📝contribs|✅CentralAuth) - 🛫User Page and Board (Horizonspedia) 15:10, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello, I can't answer all of your questions, but I can answer the second one. It appears that the categories are hardcoded (source), and there is currently no configuration setting to disable them. If you want, I could propose (and perhaps implement) the setting in PollNY though. BlankEclair (talk) 04:33, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks @BlankEclair! I guess one of the most important parts of an editor mindset is tolerance. You have to take the good with the bad! Thanks for looking into it, but I think Horizonspedia will be fine without the trouble. 😀PawnShop75 (💬talk|📝contribs|✅CentralAuth) - 🛫User Page and Board (Horizonspedia) 14:04, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Don't anyone worry! I decided to just remove most of the fun features, as in the end, they're just window dressing, and it's a wiki after all. Don't need too many distractions! 😀PawnShop75 (💬talk📝contribs✅CentralAuth) - 🛫On Horizonspedia 18:13, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Default dark theme on wiki? (For Vector Legacy)[edit | edit source]

I've got a wiki that I want a dark theme for by default, without the hacky nature of the default dark mode extension. I'm using Vector Legacy because I prefer the look. Is there a dark theme, extension, CSS editing function, etc. that would help me achieve what I want with my wiki? Yosaia (talk) 00:16, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Update: I found a solution that works for me, now I'm editing the MediaWiki:Vector.css to use custom colours. Yosaia (talk) 04:47, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Assistance with Configuring a Custom Domain for My Wiki[edit | edit source]

Hello,

I have recently acquired a new domain from GoDaddy and I would like to change my current wiki URL to my new custom domain.

Could you please guide me on how to configure this? Specifically, I'd like to know:

- What steps need to be performed on the GoDaddy platform to properly configure the domain for use with Miraheze.

- Are there any additional settings or configurations that need to be adjusted on Miraheze to ensure the custom domain works correctly?

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards, Tilabras Tilabras (talk) 12:06, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What steps need to be performed on the GoDaddy platform to properly configure the domain for use with Miraheze.

You'll need to either set the domain's nameservers to Miraheze's, or add a CNAME record on a subdomain to Miraheze. See Custom domains step 2.

Are there any additional settings or configurations that need to be adjusted on Miraheze to ensure the custom domain works correctly?

You'll need to request Miraheze to use it, but aside from that, I do not think so.

Hello,
Thank you for the information.
Could you please guide me on how to formally request Miraheze to use my custom domain? What are the steps or the process involved in making this request?
Thank you for your assistance.

See custom domain steps. Step 4 explains how to request Miraheze uses your custom domain. – Jph2 (talk) 20:52, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Duplicates of Recent changes button on Cosmos skin[edit | edit source]

...And I'm back. (So sorry!)

Anyway, I noticed on my wiki, which has the Cosmos skin as the default, there's a recent changes button when you hover over the 3 dots in the top-right. That would be fine... If there wasn't a recent changes button already!

So, what should I add to my MediaWiki:Common.css? Again, I'm so sorry to be asking a question so soon after my last one, and thank you so much for your time! 😀PawnShop75 (💬talk📝contribs✅CentralAuth) - 🛫On Horizonspedia 19:02, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's alright ^_^
I don't know which one you want to hide. If you want to hide Navigation > Recent changes, use:
.p-Navigation .n-Recent_changes {
    display: none;
}
If you want to hide Explore > Recent changes, use:
.p-Explore .n-Recent_changes {
    display: none;
}
- BlankEclair (talk) 23:14, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Poké Balls! (That's actually what I say) There was a Explore one as well? Thanks for that.
If you look in top-right, there will be 3 dots. If you hover over that, you will find another one! Any way to hide that one?
Heh, Cosmos really likes it's recent changes. Thank you for understanding! 😀PawnShop75 (💬talk📝contribs✅CentralAuth) - 🛫On Horizonspedia 00:06, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh, okay. Thanks!
.p-more .m-recentchanges {
    display: none;
}
- BlankEclair (talk) 00:42, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hmmm... I don't see any changes. I tried deleting the code from MediaWiki:Common.css and added it in MediaWiki:Cosmos.css, but that doesn't seem to have made any difference. Not even after following the instructions given by the pages to bypass my cache.
How long does it usually take for these things to show up? Normally, my changes are visible immediately. Got any ideas? 😀PawnShop75 (💬talk📝contribs✅CentralAuth) - 🛫On Horizonspedia 00:50, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oops, sorry. Turns out I misread the HTML. Try this instead:
#p-Explore #n-Recent_changes, #p-more #m-recentchanges {
    display: none;
}
- BlankEclair (talk) 01:04, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That worked! Thank you (again) for your help! Without you, us Cosmos skin users would have 4 recent changes buttons at our disposal! 😀PawnShop75 (💬talk📝contribs✅CentralAuth) - 🛫On Horizonspedia 01:22, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

contact page - link in footer[edit | edit source]

I have enabled the special Contact page and in the settings I have chosen to show the link to the contact form in the footer of the page.

Where can I find the setting to change the text of this link? Now only <contactpage-label> is displayed.

I will add that on the special page: System messages there is no such title. Danielg28 (talk) 09:49, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I believe all you need to do is to edit MediaWiki:contactpage-label with the text that you want displayed. BlankEclair (talk) 10:03, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Excellent thank you very much. Danielg28 (talk) 10:17, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User documents come out strangely[edit | edit source]

[1]

User documents appear differently from other documents on the wiki. Moreover, the contents of previously created user documents are not visible. I've been managing the wiki recently, but if that's not the problem, has Mirahaze been updated? 𝕭𝖊𝖑𝖑𝖆𝖘𝖍𝖆 (talk) 11:16, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Can pages and data from wikis be exported after they're closed?[edit | edit source]

If a wiki closes down for breaking Miraheze rules, can the pages and data be exported after it closes? A bunch of Reception wikis have been closed down, could data from those wikis be retrieved? 38.42.103.250 16:35, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I believe so, as Miraheze is obliged to provide dumps "as long as it is legally, financially, or technically feasible to do so, at Miraheze's discretion", according to Terms of Use#10c. Termination. - BlankEclair (talk) 23:49, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, as long as the database/files hasn't been deleted, it is possible. It depends indeed on what BlankEclair said.  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits   Auth →  23:55, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What happens to the database / files when a wiki gets closed? How long are they available after closure? 38.42.103.250 02:00, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Per Dormancy Policy#Deletion, a wiki is soft deleted 245 days after closure. 31 days after soft-deletion, it is eligible for permanent deletion. It isn't guaranteed that it will be deleted after being eligible, but it also isn't guaranteed that it won't be deleted, if that makes sense. BlankEclair (talk) 02:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
