Iron Sword 22, what is it about? Flarehot (talk) 08:23, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
It's like wikipedia. Iron Sword 22 (talk) 13:52, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

A question

How do I make certain logs appear in recent changes? (Like avatar upload, abuse filter, and page creation) InspecterAbdel (NLW) 15:05, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Not sure if it's on ManageWiki. If it isn't, ask on Miraheze Phabricator. —MarioMario456 15:46, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
AbuseFilter or AbuseLog will not be visible for recent changes. Anton (talk) 15:52, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel Abuse filter changes and abuse logs will not appear in RC, as far as I'm aware. I personally wish they did, but this would need an upstream Wikimedia Phabricator feature request. Page creation logs can be enabled in Special:ManageWiki on your wiki. Not completely sure about the avatar upload log, but this should also be possible as well. If not, you'd probably need to file an upstream Wikimedia Phabricator feature request for the SocialProfile extension. Dmehus (talk) 15:51, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
As for the abuse logs and abuse filter changes, you can just check Special:AbuseLog and Special:Log/abusefilter on-wiki on regular basis. Perhaps add it to your calendar as a recurring event item? Dmehus (talk) 15:51, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Can anyone tell me what elements the tabs (Page, Discussion, Read, Edit, etc.) use in CSS, and how to color them? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 16:22, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

So you want to change the background color of the page or just some tabs/sections? Or do you mean what you see at the top of each page before the content starts (Project Page, Talk, Edit, Edit source, Move)? Anton (talk) 16:38, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
The tabs. The ones that says edit, history, etc. I don't want them white, I want them to be colored as #A0522D InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:16, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay. Then copy this code:
#ca-view {
	background: #A0522D;
#ca-history {
	background: #A0522D;
#ca-edit {
	background: #A0522D;
#ca-unwatch {
	background: #A0522D;
Thanks. Anton (talk) 18:32, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Doesn't work for some reason. This is what my MW:Common.css page looks like:
#content { background-color: #f5f5dc; }
body  {
div {
body #pageWrapper {
    margin-right: 10px;
/* Head */
div#mw-page-base {
	color: #f5f5dc !important;
    background: transparent;
    background-image: none;
#ca-view {
	background: #A0522D;

	background: #A0522D;
#ca-edit {
	background: #A0522D;

	background: #A0522D;
Is there something wrong with it? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:02, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Also the colons were added as a result of this reply. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:04, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
NVM, it works, but how do I (sorry) change the color of the link in the tabs? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:13, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Delete colons. It not works. What link you mean? Anton (talk) 19:51, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
When you click "edit", it's a link. The colons were because of the reply link, not the original page. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 19:54, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
I removed those colons for you. Turtle84375 (talk) 20:28, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

I would like to apologize for getting carried away.--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 22:58, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Iron Sword 23  No problem! Yeah, it's probably best if you post one thread promoting your wiki on community noticeboard, add your wiki to Gazetteer of wikis, then join us on IRC, ideally in #miraheze-offtopic connect but also #miraheze connect, and Discord to ask for specific help on your wiki. As a helpful tip, rather than proposing to create an English Wikipedia fork wiki, why not propose to create a wiki on a topic of particular interest to you, and, ideally, one of interest to others? Since there's, well, English Wikipedia, it's very difficult to attract interest from other editors to an English Wikipedia fork wiki. Dmehus (talk) 23:06, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Does a comic book template wiki sound interesting --Iron Sword 23 (talk) 23:18, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Iron Sword 23 It does, but it needs more detail. Do you mean comic book wiki templates, in Template: namespace for writing wiki comics? If not, what do you mean? Can you describe this in approximately 2-3 sentences? Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 23:21, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
I just hope I don't get carried away with talk pages this time around. --Iron Sword 23 (talk) 01:22, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Iron Sword 23 I mean, you could try telling yourself that you won't discuss your wiki on other users' user talk pages on Meta Wiki, unless they specifically ask you about your wiki, of course? Dmehus (talk) 02:02, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Gadgets not working

On naasgamelandwiki, HotCat and Edittools don't work. I've copied and pasted them from other wikis that HotCat and Edittools work there, but doesn't work for naasgamelandwiki. InspecterAbdel (talk) 14:45, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

I also notice that there is no gadgets section (in preferences) in my wiki, even though my other wiki (First Class Restaurants and Foods Wiki) has the gadgets section working fine. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 14:51, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
If you have local bureaucrat, go to Special:ManageWiki/extensions, install Gadgets, and go to MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition to add your gadget. —MarioMario456 16:28, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes, and <charinsert> doesn't work InspecterAbdel (NLW) 16:39, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel I believe there is an CharInsert extension you need to enable first in Special:ManageWiki/extensions in order to use the <charinsert> parser function tag. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 03:56, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

@Hugo Ar: It doesn't work in my wiki. Just the buttons look like it works. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 16:23, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
@InspecterAbdel: Do you have a CharInsert extension? Anton (talk) 16:40, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Anton They said they do above, but I haven't checked it to be sure. Dmehus (talk) 17:31, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay. I can't check it because access to the wiki is restricted. Anton (talk) 17:41, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel. Activate the charinsert extension. In your wiki you should go to Special:ManageWiki/extensionsParser booksCharinsert Hugo Ar (talk) 17:46, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
@Hugo Ar: I already did that. But Charinsert only makes buttons that don't do anything. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:14, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel. On the page it says:
  • These links are usually used in MediaWiki:Edittools (example on this wiki) system message.
  • Use <charinsert> tags with a space-separated list of characters or tags for which you wish to allow insertion.
  • Clicking the links will have no effect since there is no input or edit field.
According to what is explained there, it seems to be its only use. If you want buttons that link to articles or any page, <charinsert> is not the solution. Best regards.. Hugo Ar (talk). 23:32, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
You don't know what I mean. The buttons are not links, they are used to insert characters, but it's not working. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 13:40, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Wiki Ideas?

Hey all, I'd like to start a public wiki, as a balance-out to my current private wiki (it doesn't have to have anything to do with TurtleWiki though), but I thought I'd get your guys' ideas for what would be a common interest that people would actually enjoy editing on. I tried with a previous public wiki, but it didn't really hit off, so I've closed it and will likely let it go dormant, but I still want to experience both ends in terms of running a wiki. So, any topic/scope ideas? Thanks, much appreciated! Turtle84375 (talk) 04:20, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Do you use scratch? Maybe Scratchwiki is a good idea ( InspecterAbdel (NLW) 14:13, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel Hmm, the only problem with that is that Scratch already has its own wiki lol, but I do have an account. Turtle84375 (talk) 17:36, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
That wiki is bad. We can make a better one here on Miraheze. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 17:43, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel I just don't want it to seem like it's a content fork. Turtle84375 (talk) 17:51, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel Also, I'm curious, how is it bad? Turtle84375 (talk) 17:51, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
@Turtle84375: The pages seem to praise the scratch team, and the pages about the moderation seem to defend themselves, making an account there is very hard (I tried before), It has a bad layout, and the april fools pages are not funny. (I haven't been there in a while, since June 2020, but I didn't like the wiki) InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:09, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel Well... yeah, they're trying to keep their spotless reputation intact, not an easy thing to do in the digital world for as long as they have, so they (unfortunatly) have to control, control, control. I'm just concerned that making a new Scratch Wiki could potentially cause some conflict/would be essentially a fork. Turtle84375 (talk) 18:15, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Maybe a source wiki, like GitHub? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:27, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
InspecterAbdel That might be interesting. Turtle84375 (talk) 18:46, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

What wiki ideas should I come up with in the future?--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 15:18, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Copyright Trolls on All The Tropes

This is a general heads-up to the Miraheze Community. According to Matomo Analytics, All The Tropes has been visited multiple times in the last week-plus by Higbee & Associates, a noted "copyright troll". Although we're certainly the largest target, there's no reason to assume we are the only wiki at Miraheze they have visited or plan to visit. You may want to ensure that your content is not likely to net you a "pay up or else" letter from them. Looney Toons (talk) 18:12, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Why am I not the bureaucrat and admin of my own wiki?

Hi, I made a wiki called New Super Mario Bros. 2 and it says I'm not a bureaucrat or admin. How come? -Zai- (talk) 18:16, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

-Zai- This is likely due to a persistent bug when usernames begin with a hyphen, the CreateWiki extension is not able to grant bureaucrat and sysop permissions, as it's happened on more than one occasion prior to this with the exact same circumstances. Anyway, this is now  done. Universal Omega, please make sure you are checking the requesting user's CentralAuth after wikis are created, so we can catch instances like this and make the appropriate request to Stewards to manually grant the user rights. I do try and patrol the farmer log, but hadn't yet reviewed the last several wiki creations. Dmehus (talk) 18:25, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
-Zai- To add to what I said above, I would personally strongly recommend you request a global rename, to remove the problematic initial hyphen character from your username, otherwise you will continue to experience technical issues with the MediaWiki software on Miraheze. Dmehus (talk) 18:26, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

The Monaco Skin

Why doesn't Miraheze have the Monaco skin. It is a skin that was used by Wikia for a short period of time and is now used by ShoutWiki. If you were on FANDOM in 2010 you might remember the whole “Monaco vs Oasis” debacle. Since Miraheze made a custom version of Oasis (Cosmos), I think that they should use Monaco or make a custom version, as it is a very popular skin. Here is an example of what it looks like on a wiki that uses it: Blubabluba9990 (talk) 16:16, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

@Blubabluba9990: Hi. Miraheze did actually have Monaco for a short period of time but it was removed as it is not compatible with the newest versions of MediaWiki and also unmaintained. The skin similar to Oasis called Cosmos was not technically made by Miraheze, but by a volunteer and former sysadmin, Universal Omega. Perhaps he might be interested in doing something similar for Monaco, but that's for him to say. Reception123 (talk) (C) 16:26, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. I would like to see a custom version of that skin for Miraheze, since it is a good skin and is used by ShoutWiki, who uses MediaWiki 1.34, which is just two steps behind (ShoutWiki has not been in active development for a while and seemed to be partially abandoned by staff, though staff has come back. ShoutWiki also has less SEO than Miraheze, and Miraheze seems to be more popular nowadays. Since ShoutWiki seems to be in a bit of a pickle now with their Wiki Creation broken and partial dormancy, it would be nice for Miraheze to adopt Monaco, since if ShoutWiki closes the Anti-Wikia Alliance would have to move here, and they would want to have the Monaco skin as it was the whole Monaco vs Oasis thing that started the Anti-Wikia Alliance. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 16:39, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
@Blubabluba9990: Just to note now that you brought this up, I do plan to fork the Monaco skin and get it working and hopefully deployed on Miraheze soon. Thanks for bringing this up! User:Universal Omega/Sig  16:48, 8 May 2021 (UTC) |
Blubabluba9990 thank you for raising this. Universal Omega, thank you for looking into forking this. Separately, would you mind fixing your signature, as it's incompatible with DiscussionTools? I believe the issue is your span tags need to be inside the wikilinks, not outside. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 16:50, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
You're welcome. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 16:53, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
@Blubabluba9990: hello, though I'd give you an update on this, I have successfully done some major cleanup to Monaco on my own fork of it, and successfully got it to work on MediaWiki 1.35 and MediaWiki 1.36. Once I finish a few additional testing I will open a task on Phabricator for deployment of the skin on Miraheze. Thanks again for bringing this up, as I also like the Monaco skin and it will be great to have deployed on Miraheze. User:Universal Omega/Sig  16:33, 9 May 2021 (UTC) |
@Blubabluba9990: I have now deployed Monaco on Miraheze. It can be enabled from the "Skins" tab of Special:ManageWiki/extensions now. User:Universal Omega/Sig  03:06, 14 May 2021 (UTC) |

I tried logging out of this wiki but it says invalid CSRF token. MediaWiki interface question

How do you change the text when you use "More"

I found MediaWiki:Delete, MediaWiki:Protect, MediaWiki:Move, but they don't do anything. I even tried to test it using my now-locked AppleCrunchy sock back in September 2020, and it still didn't work. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 15:45, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Is there a way to hide the "Add as foe" button on SocialProfiles?

They can't be disabled due to limitations, but I question if there is a way to hide the link because they're forbidden on many of my wikis. —MarioMario456 21:17, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

@MarioMario456: You can hide the button via CSS in the MediaWiki:Common.css e.g. .profile-actions > a:nth-child(2) { display: none } but be very careful when editing the MediaWiki:Common.css, maybe you try first .profile-actions > a:nth-child(2) { background-color: #f0f } first to check if the right parts are affected, display: none is a very dangerous action in the MediaWiki:Common.css, if you enter this without selector your wiki is gone for good unless a global steward helps you out --Lily talk and I will listen · Lilypond Wiki 22:12, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Lily Interesting, but when you say "your wiki is gone for good," in what way? I don't doubt that, as you're quite knowledgeable when it comes to CSS and JS, but I'm just wondering if it would be a technical issue that require system administrators to handle with a maintenance script or database edit. Dmehus (talk) 22:27, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
It would result in the entire wiki interface being hidden, which would make it impossible to edit without either using the API or just disabling the styles using the browser devtools. Nothing that would require sysadmin intervention to fix. — Arcversintalk 02:54, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
I accidentally added following code to the common.css * { display: none }, which resulted in a blank page when I accessed the wiki. Is there a way to deactivate the common.css? I had to rename the common.css in the database to get my wiki working again (not on Miraheze), maybe there was an easier way, I would appreciate it to hear from that, thank you, --Lily talk and I will listen · Lilypond Wiki 10:24, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
It's possible to use the browser developer tools (through the inspector) to disable specific css rules until a reload, which would let you edit the common.css in order to fix it. — Arcversintalk 18:14, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for clarifying. I was having trouble visualizing what the solution would be, so in that case, it may not even need a Steward; rather, it just needs someone with the necessary local permissions to edit via the API or just first disabling their web browser's CSS/JS. Dmehus (talk) 13:36, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
I did not know this browser extension, I am glad that there is a simpler solution than manipulating the database if one has messed up the commons.css oder any other CSS-Page of the wiki, --Lily talk and I will listen · Lilypond Wiki 08:41, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

I granted you, admin, and interface admin. SecretSpyer (talk) 16:17, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
 Done. The problem with what you said above when you didn’t make it work is that the image given above cannot be added. Probably because it lacks a file format. I saw the Miraheze logo with a file format (png) at the end. You have to take another picture and add it in the same way as I advised above. Also, MediaWiki:Sidebar was missing from your wiki (and then I didn't get anything visible), so I created it. I just posted a message on your talk page about the same thing. Currently, Sidebar does not have a background image, for the reason mentioned above. Anton (talk) 17:21, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
@Anton:@SecretSpyer:Of course this is not working, and you need no admin rights to figure out #mw-panel { background-image: url(""); }. How do you program bots? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 13:41, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

InspecterAbdel This is an advanced, broad question not ideally suited for community noticeboard. You would be better off joining us on IRC in the #miraheze-offtopic connect or #miraheze connect channel with specific questions related to this. To start you off, I would just refer you to Manual:Pywikibot on Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 13:45, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

A request to Twinkle

Can anyone add a RFPP to the twinkle code? I tried to request that Trust and Safety be protected, but there was no option. InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:42, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

InspecterAbdel I don't think that's required. Page protections can just be requested at Meta:Administrators' noticeboard. In this case, though, with no vandalism on that page, I don't think page protection is required at this time. I mean, we could potentially protect it at autoconfirmed, to be proactive, but I do prefer to wait until actual vandalism or abuse occurs when implementing protection. Dmehus (talk) 18:44, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
But isn't it a business page like Terms of Use? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:48, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
It is, but it's not really a policy page. It's more of an informational supplement page. I will check with Owen and see what he prefers, though. Dmehus (talk) 18:49, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok, and can you help me with the problem above? (Annoying error) InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:53, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

A little question

I was working on the mh:upsettingtoys:Upsetting Toys Wiki and while I was changing the extensions, I tried enabling the "Template Upload" extension but I found out the extenstions were changed so I want to see how can I still use them. DuchessTheSponge (talk) 18:53, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Annoying error

I was importing templates from templatewiki, and I turned on TemplateStyles, but the template documentation gives me an error saying "Page Module:Documentation/styles.css must have content model "Sanitized CSS" for TemplateStyles (current model is "plain text")." How do I fix this? InspecterAbdel (NLW) 18:36, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

InspecterAbdel Easy fix. On the page where the error is referring to (in this case, Documentation/styles.css, I'm assuming), click "page information" in the sidebar, locate the row labeled "content model," and click "change." Sanitized CSS is one of the options that appears. If you let me know what wiki this is on, I can do it for you :) Turtle84375 (talk) 04:07, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Does anyone know how to create navboxes like the ones on Wikipedia?--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 19:57, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

@Iron Sword 23: You need to use Special:Import to import {{Template:Navbox}} from Wikipedia, with "include all templates" checked, and you also need to enable the "Template Styles" extension in ManageWiki. Once you do that, you can create navboxes using the template. — Arcversintalk 01:02, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

IP Editing

I have added the writeapi and createpage permissions to the * group and IPs still can't create nor edit pages in FAMEPedia. Please help Ugochimobi (talk) 08:25, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Is edit permission enabled? Writeapi has nothing to do with editing or creating pages. Have you also verified that the codes you added are not in the $wgRevokePermissions variable? --Anton (talk) 09:02, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
I have the edit and createpage permissions enabled and how can I know which permission is revoked? Ugochimobi (talk) 10:32, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
I checked your wiki settings (ListGroupRights) and there were no revoke permissions. They would have been pulled over (this way). However, I logged out, and at least I would have been able to create a new page on your wiki. Anton (talk) 13:20, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh. Ugochimobi (talk) 15:22, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Anton Just a side question, how do you "revoke" permissions for certain groups? I've never seen an option for that in the user right settings. Turtle84375 (talk) 19:16, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
$wgRevokePermissions means the right revoked from the user. For example, if you don't want administrators to be able to block users anymore, you would do it this way: $wgRevokePermissions['sysop']['block'] = true;. But also wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['block'] = false; working. --Anton (talk) 19:25, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Turtle84375 Do you mean revoke the ability for certain elevated groups to manage lower groups? Or do you mean removing user rights from a group? Both can be done in Special:ManageWiki/permissions, albeit it in different tabs. Dmehus (talk) 19:22, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Keep in mind, though, some user rights can be removed from certain groups in ManageWiki, they're actually hard-coded, for technical or security reasons, to the default user group in LocalSettings.php. These are typically rights all users need to manage their own preferences and personal options. Sometimes user rights are blacklisted from * (i.e., interface administration-related rights). Dmehus (talk) 19:25, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
I'm referring to this page, where it says (in the legend) that "Revoked right" would be indicated with a strikethrough. But is there even a ManageWiki setting to do that with? Or is that something, as Anton mentioned, that you would configure in the wiki's configuration code? I've never seen a user right crossed out on that list before, so I'm doubting if it's even a usable thing. Just curious. Turtle84375 (talk) 19:56, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Do you have $wgEmailConfirm set to true, or the EditSubpages extension enabled on your wiki? Both of those either (a) preclude anonymous users from editing or (b) cause a conflict that precludes anonymous user editing. Dmehus (talk) 14:11, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I don't know if $wgEmailConfirm is set to true and I don't have the EditSubpages extension enabled. Ugochimobi (talk) 15:24, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Go to Special:ManageWiki/permissions/* and add "edit" and "create". —MarioMario456 14:12, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
I have that already and it's still not working tho Ugochimobi (talk) 15:25, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Ugochimobi I can edit logged out on this page (if I wanted to). So I'm not sure why you can't. It seems to be either a page-specific protection issue. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 15:28, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Ugochimobi Oh no, nevermind, I can't, per, "You must confirm your email address before editing pages. Please set and validate your email address through your user preferences." So, yes, you'll need to either (a) disable $wgEmailConfirm in Special:ManageWiki/settings, or (b) just effectively disallow anonymous user editing. Dmehus (talk) 15:30, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: Exactly. Okay I'll do that now Ugochimobi (talk) 15:40, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Iron Sword 23 Well, I'm thinking of making a wiki about all of the .io games, combining them all into one information source, but separating them by namespace. I'm just trying to gauge potential interest in that type of wiki. Turtle84375 (talk) 04:09, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Wiki inactivity signs

I have noticed that every time a wiki gets closed, it will say “This wiki has been closed because there have been no edits for the last 60 days” even if the wiki was closed by a local bureaucrat and a steward. I think that the sign should be changed so that if the wiki was closed either by a local bureaucrat or steward it would give the latest ManageWiki log, like with deletion and protection logs, so that it would be easier to tell exactly why the wiki was closed. There is also another thing: Is there any specific time when an inactive wiki gets deleted? The sign says “6 months” but it seems to take longer. Atrocious YouTubers Wiki and Toxic Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki, for example, have been closed since September 6, 2020 and have not yet been deleted. Despite this, the exemption policy lists a specific amount of days. There seems to be a lot of grey area regarding that. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:35, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Blubabluba9990 Non-exempt wikis are marked as deleted automatically after 180 days since the date the of the last RC edit or log action, excepting some actions like global renames and CentralAuth automatic user account creations. Alternatively, if a wiki is manually closed, then they are marked as deleted after 135 days since the date of last RC edit or log action. The wikis you refer to have not been deleted yet because of certain extension-added user rights that still allow users to perform certain actions. Thus, I plan to discuss with the Steward team about manually marking the wikis for deletion. Dmehus (talk) 01:14, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:55, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Lily does make a good point on the Moderation extension. It's a great anti-spam tool, but really should only be used where your wiki doesn't require a lot of editing and where spam only accounts getting past the global abuse filters are a problem. You might also try the StopForumSpam extension instead. Dmehus (talk) 07:15, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes. I lost some edits made by other users, where can I find the patrol panel and how do I disable it. SecretSpyer (talk) 16:06, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
I believe patrolled edits are enabled by default. I'm not quite sure what you mean. Can you clarify this a bit? Dmehus (talk) 16:12, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus:, never mind by the lost edit part, how do I disable the moderation extension? SecretSpyer (talk) 16:18, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh, you mean the Moderation extension? Go into Special:ManageWiki/extensions, "Anti-Spam" tab, and uncheck the box. Before you do that, though, you may want to remove the extension-added user rights from all groups listed in Special:ListGroupRights. If you search for "moderation," that should cover them all. Cartoon Fatness

What happened to the Cartoon Fatness wiki? Did it got taken down because it had not encountered the guidelines? I recall seeing a URL for that domain almost a year ago. Is it from the fact exists? Most likely since Fandom shut down their version back in January 2019 I think. 2607:FB90:AA7D:D4EF:FD11:F393:E7D:708A 20:51, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

2607:FB90:AA7D:D4EF:FD11:F393:E7D:708A Do you recall what the web address URL was for this wiki? Most likely it was deleted per Dormancy Policy, but without the web address URL, I couldn't be certain as to why it's no longer available (i.e., if that's the reason or not). Also, was it a public or private wiki? If the former, there's likely an XML dump available on The Internet Archive. Dmehus (talk) 21:15, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

How do I protect pages so that custom-created user groups/non-protected priviledge can edit? On TestWiki, you can protect it so that only bureaucrats can edit it, but I don't know how you can do that, especially since that you can only protect it to only users, autoconfirmed users, or admins. InspecterAbdel (talk) 15:19, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

InspecterAbdel This requires a Phabricator request, though I can do it for you if you want, as it requires setting up restriction levels (which aren't configurable in ManageWiki) in LocalSettings.php in the GitHub repository. What do you want for the name of the user right for the restriction level (i.e., like editsemiprotected for autoconfirmed users)? Dmehus (talk) 15:54, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
I want 2 editstuffs: I want editofficial and editarchive InspecterAbdel (talk) 16:06, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

How do you make a multilanguage wiki?

I know there are some tutorials but I just can't understand them. For example, why can't miraheze just make an "add new language" button on the left side? I'm struggling hard now, please help me, thx! Tenkafuma (talk) 11:38, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

There is an extension called Translate for this purpose and with this you are able to have translated pages like Meta does. For an example of how that works you can see the Main Page here. --DeeM28 (talk) 17:17, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
I know the translate template but I'm confused by the steps. It said that I needed to download or change the localsetting thingy, but how do you download miraheze? My mother language isn't English so maybe it's my bad for misunderstanding. But, again, can't miraheze just simply make an "add new language" button on the left side in default? Like the wikipedia. Tenkafuma (talk) 12:13, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
It is also worth considering the introduction of the ContentTranslation and UniversalLanguageSelector extensions in this regard. You can also see these on Wikipedia, and they usually come from Wikidata, which requires the extensions WikibaseClient and WikibaseRepository, among others. WikibaseRepository comes in a repo wiki (like Wikidata), and a WikibaseClient client wiki (like English Wikipedia for example). As far as I know, the Translate extension alone has nothing to do with the sidebar. Anton (talk) 12:52, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Again, ContentTranslation needs to install, but the next question is how to download miraheze? It's confusing. Tenkafuma (talk) 13:17, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Tenkafuma Well, the "add new language" is for interlanguage wikis—that is to say, one language per wiki. You asked about a multilingual wiki, for which DeeM28 appropriately recommended the Translate extension. Regarding extensions and configuration, that's the danger in relying on extension documentation on Miraheze. In most cases, you can configure extensions on Miraheze in ManageWiki, a Miraheze-developed extension for wiki management. ContentTranslation can be requested, and I thought about requesting that actually. If something can't be configured in ManageWiki, you can request on Phabricator for a system administrator to configure it for you in LocalSettings.php on GitHub. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 14:25, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Thx for your help, I guess I'll just make them separately. One language per wiki seems to be the only solution.Tenkafuma (talk) 02:17, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
I mean, there's pros and cons to both. Feel free to explore Meta Wiki's various content pages in both (Main) and Meta: namespaces to see what is possible with a multilingual wiki using the Translate extension. I do tend to prefer multilingual wikis. Alternatively, explore —revi's Revi HQ for an example of a multilingual wiki (in practical terms, it's a bilingual Korean and English wiki) without using the Translate extension (i.e., translated subpages are manually created and translated, with a common template footer added to each page). See also MacFan4000's related point on the streamlining related to the Translate extension coming with MediaWiki 1.36. Dmehus (talk) 14:30, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Main page help

Hello, Miraheze users,

Can someone make me a main page for: to be copied to an offsite wiki that looks better then the one I have. Thinking of having a highlighted pages box, the backstory of the world, link to recreant changes and whatever you think would look nice. Color wise, want it to fit into the new Vector colors.

Looks wise, inspired by Wikipedia main page if possable, unless you have another idea, as I am open to other ideas. I would rather find a way to do it with CSS over templates if possible.

Thank you for your time. TheBurningPrincess (talk) 12:40, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Please help fix this, I dont know if this is a bug or something. Ugochimobi (talk) 16:13, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

You can always open a task on Phabricator. Bukkit (talk) 16:25, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Well, it depends on if it's a technical issue that requires a configuration change or is a bug report. If it's just a user right configuration or something that can be done on-wiki in any way, this is the best venue, as the Phabricator ticket will be closed as invalid. Permission Help

Hi please I want a System admin to help deleted the extended confirmed user group in my famepedia wiki from the backend and its impossible for me to delete from over here. I wanna recreate it cuz I'm having some conflicts. @Dmehus: Ugochimobi (talk) 21:58, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

Ugochimobi We've just completed the addition of the restriction level, so I'm not sure why you're wanting to delete either that or your extended confirmed users group. Instead of proposing to delete something that was only recently added, can you instead describe what issue(s) you are having? The reason I ask is because I've tested protection on both wikis, and did not encounter any issues. Dmehus (talk) 22:18, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Am I confused?.., Lol I actually want the user group to appear like Extended confirmed but the name should be extendedconfirmed Do you get me? @Dmehus: Ugochimobi (talk) 22:22, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Ugochimobi Oh, yes, I see what you mean, and I wondered if you intended for Extendedconfirmed to contain an initial capital letter or not. This can be changed if you really want, but the group name should not contain spaces and, ideally, underscores as well. If you just want to change the displayed name of the group, you would just define that with MediaWiki:Group-Extendedconfirmed and MediaWiki:Group-Extendedconfirmed. In the page text, you would type: Extended confirmed users. I can create them for you if you want. Dmehus (talk) 23:10, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I want the page text to be Extended confirmed users but I want the internal name to be extendedconfirmed without any capitalization. for example, sysop for Administrators Ugochimobi (talk) 19:31, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Ugochimobi Oh, okay. You can take care of the page text with the above-noted MediaWiki interface messages, though I would recommend, strongly, an initial character of the first word capitalized. And you can't delete the user group in ManageWiki? I mean, yes, I get the idea of wanting to delete and recreate that group, but it will mean another GitHub PR on the one wiki (the other wiki it's not capitalized). Are you still needing template editor protection as well, or do you think you might not need that at the moment? Dmehus (talk) 19:44, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Okay. Just let go of the group. Yes i need the (templateeditor) Edit protected templates protecton for both wikis. @Dmehus: Ugochimobi (talk) 19:51, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

 completed. Additionally, I also added the three MediaWiki interface messages for you, so you wouldn't have seen text like {right-editextendedconfirmedprotected} and {protect-level-extendedconfirmedprotected} Dmehus (talk) 06:56, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks very much man... I was a bit busy I think I just noticed... Many thanks Ugochimobi (talk) 07:00, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
No problem. :) Dmehus (talk) 14:22, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Miraheze

Please @Dmehus, Reception123, and Rhinosf1: can you help me set up Google API for FAMEPedia, FAMEData?? Ugochimobi (talk) 09:09, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

@Ugochimobi: Are you perhaps referring to setting up the search engine so you're wiki results can show on google? if so I can help you with that I have done it before. --Cocopuff2018 (talk) 02:01, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Okay @Dmehus: how?? Ugochimobi (talk) 07:01, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
@Cocopuff2018: how sir? Ugochimobi (talk) 07:34, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

@Ugochimobi: Sorry for the Delay if you look at this article it should help you index and add your wiki content to goolge however if you still do not get it ping me --Cocopuff2018 (talk) 12:38, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Okay checking that now.. Ugochimobi (talk) 15:22, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Translate parser function not working

the <translate> </translate> and <tvar></tvar> parserfunctions aren't working for FAMEData Ugochimobi (talk) 12:23, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi, it does appear to be working, but with something like your main page, you are using lots of templates. With templates, if they are translatable, they need to be loaded inside of Template:TNT (although that won’t be needed in MediaWiki 1.36). Currently, without Tenplate:TNT you will see raw translate tags. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 13:15, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
@MacFan4000: they're loaded inside of Template:TNT you can check the source code to confirm Ugochimobi (talk) 14:57, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Looking again, it looks like you didn't mark any of the pages for translation. You can do that using the link at the top of each translatable page. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 17:23, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay lemme try that. Ugochimobi (talk) 07:02, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
@MacFan4000: It worked thanks! Ugochimobi (talk) 09:07, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Multi language for user template

I'm going to use the {{user info}} template on the loginwiki with two version of language, since my native language was Vietnamese. But I don't know how to do this. Could you help me out with this? (Got idea from Dmehus)  -- Song Ngư MGR (talk) 14:51, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Having some trouble with posting on User talk pages on the mh:iammagnetomasterofmagnet:The Master of Randomness Wiki, a wiki I self-requested, self-approved and self-created:

Every time I want to post something on my talk page, I am greeted with this error: [ab879159f8271071f56f3f30] Caught exception of type Flow\Exception\NoParserException. I don't know how I'm supposed to make that error disappear. Could anyone help me with that? DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 16:44, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

For the extension errors, you should send this as a Task to Phabricator. Song Ngư MGR (talk) 06:39, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 Before filing a task on Phabricator as suggested above, I'd like to test and check something first; however, your wiki URL in your section header. Can you please correct this to the correct subdomain? Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 14:05, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay, I'll fix that. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:07, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Still wrong. Dmehus (talk) 14:08, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
The sub-domain should be fixed from this section. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:08, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Nope, I think there's still a typo. Dmehus (talk) 14:09, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Whoops, should be fixed now. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:12, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
DarkMatterMan4500 Not a problem. Anyway, as I suspected, you removed the writeapi from the * group, which is required for Flow talk page manager, since it's a system user, not a real user. So this is now  fixed. Dmehus (talk) 14:27, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh, whoops. I'll remember what I do in the future. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:29, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus:  Thanks for the help! Also, I've noticed that I have exceeded over 1,000 edits here on Meta. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 14:28, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Hide the administration links on the sidebar

How could I hide the administration shortcut links on an wiki's side bar? Song Ngư MGR (talk) 05:44, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Song Ngư MGR Are you referring to the links that say "Manage this wiki's core settings" and the like? I'm not sure if those can be hidden, perhaps through Common.css or .js it's possible, but if your worried about other users being able to see them, they can't, only users with the managewiki right on the wiki are able to see them. Turtle84375 (talk) 05:57, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
So then, how can I make that list collapsed by default? (sorry if my English is bad) Song Ngư MGR (talk) 06:14, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Song Ngư MGR The extension CollapsibleVector might work for this, I haven't tried it out on any of my wikis, but I would assume it would do the job, if you enable it in your wiki. Turtle84375 (talk) 06:35, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
They can be hidden. Add this to MediaWiki:Common.css:
#p-managewiki-sidebar-header {
	display: none;

Major bug with uploading images

On Different History Wiki and Sephspace, I uploaded some images. Unfortunately, I got this message when I tried uploading some of them:

Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/4/40/SpongeBob_fan_text.png". Make sure your upload directory is configured correctly and your web server has permission to write to that directory. See$wgUploadDirectory for more information.

I had no problem with uploading images before, so what happened? Please note that this happened with some other images as well, not just the image mentioned.

Trevor807 (talk) 14:48, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Trevor807 Sometimes this can be a back end technical infrastructure issue that should be reported on Phabricator. In the case of the file on sephspacewiki, I was able to  delete it as part of troubleshooting this request. Given that this was done with globally assigned user rights, I suspect, in this case, it's likely a local user rights issue whereby you, or an administrator, don't have all needed user rights to delete File: namespace media files or something like that. Dmehus (talk) 15:01, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Do you know what the file is you're having problems with on Different History Wiki? Dmehus (talk) 15:02, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
I've had problems uploading a Sonic fan image on the Sonic fan template. Its name is the same one on SephSpace. Trevor807 (talk) 15:03, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh, your issue is with uploading images. That's strange, because I did see the Spongebob image on the above wiki, so it seemed to have been uploaded correctly. Please file a task for this on Phabricator. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 15:06, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. The image uploads work fine now. Trevor807 (talk) 15:49, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay, that's great then. Likely was a strange temporary error, or may have been related to an already reported bug that's now  resolved. Dmehus (talk) 15:51, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. For greater clarity, I did note that it was likely one of the above two things. I suspected more likely the latter, and indeed it was that. Thanks for linking the Phabricator task. Dmehus (talk) 17:33, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
If you see an error like that and it's not within 1-2 minutes of a wiki being created. It's definitely best to report unless you've seen a Sysadmin acknowledge the icinga alert on irc. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 18:25, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
If you want to check yourself in future, look for a puppet failure on icinga or 'Check gluster clients' alert. Username: guest / Password: guest (as you know they go to irc too) ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 18:26, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Good afternoon

What new wikis are you guys going to create?--Iron Sword 23 (talk) 16:12, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Something very strange

I just noticed something very strange: If you look at the User Creation Log on Trashy Vyond Videos Wiki, it looks like on several occasions multiple different user accounts were all created at the same time. Though this may just seem like a coincidence, I am not sure how 4 different users logged into Trashy Vyond Videos Wiki all at once, and then a bunch of users logged in at the same time two times before. One of these users is Inkster, who is globally locked, so I am not sure how that is possible. Is this like an account creation glitch? Blubabluba9990 (talk) 22:55, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

It also happened here: Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:00, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
That is likely because someone imported pages from an existing wiki (likely DarkMatterMan4500 if I had to guess), and opted to assign edits locally where the same username/userID existed within the Miraheze user table. Dmehus (talk) 23:02, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus It was. I was simply importing pages relating to GoAnimate/Vyond videos from the Horrible Vyonders Wiki, and Atrocious YouTubers Wiki. I also imported a few templates from both wikis as well. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 23:08, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok, that makes sense, because I had also seen those users make edits from before their account creation showed up. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:16, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
This has also happened on two other wikis: and, and I am not sure what either of those wikis are but if one looks at the account creation log in those wikis, the same thing happens, idk if pages were merged there because I am unsure of the purpose of both wikis. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:46, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
I looked it up it looks like it is some sort of Indian version of Wikipedia even though it is in english and french. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:48, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Something I noticed

I was looking through my CentralAuth page when I noticed that is listed as one of my "local wiki" accounts, even though is not a wiki... Additionally, the page says that I (somehow) have 28 edits on said site, and am a 'sysop' there. However, when I click on the link to go to the site (which it thinks is a wiki, so it tries to link to a userpage), it brings me to a 404 page. Does anyone know 1.) what this is and/or 2.) how it's possible for me to have 28 edits as a sysop on a non-existent wiki? Thanks! Turtle84375 (talk) 22:25, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Turtle84375 Yes, that's an anomaly with CreateWiki and the CentralAuth extension and stems from wikis which have been marked as deleted, but which have not yet been purged. You can see a list of all deleted wikis here. When system administrators next run the wiki deletion script, those wikis will drop from your global accounts and, in turn, your global edit count will drop by the requisite number. Dmehus (talk) 22:28, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
As to which wiki is is, I wouldn't really know, but if I had to guess, do you recall assisting Iron Sword 22 with his former mywikipediawiki prior to its deletion? That'd be my leading guess. Dmehus (talk) 22:32, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Dmehus Thanks, that's the explanation I was looking for. I do see a wiki I contributed to but is now on that page, so that explains the edit count and 'sysop' badge. Turtle84375 (talk) 22:34, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
No problem. Glad to have helped. It's a good, though niche, question I'm sure others have wondered and will likely find this answer interesting. As an aside, I had nearly 100 deleted wikis on my global accounts page, and lost about 65 wikis in the last deletion batch. :) Dmehus (talk) 22:35, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Dmehus Yeah, that's gotta be a pain as far as losing all of your local edits, which in turn add up to your global edit count. I guess it encourages you to stay active! ;) Thank goodness Meta's not getting deleted anytime soon. Turtle84375 (talk) 22:43, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Editing the small copyright notice

Hello. I did like to have a question about the MediaWiki namespace. Is there any page on MediaWiki namespace to edit the copyright notice at the end of a page? Original content of that page look like this: "Content is available under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) unless otherwise noted." Could you find it for me? '_' Song Ngư MGR (talk) 02:59, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Are you wanting to change your wiki's copyright license from the default and, in turn, the footer message, or are you just wanting to modify your copyright message? One can be done with an interface message; the other requires a Phabricator task. Dmehus (talk) 04:10, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus: The wiki's default copyright settings can be changed in the settings section edit --Lily talk and I will listen · Lilypond Wiki 04:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, Lily, I'm definitely aware of that setting, but I also know that a Phabricator task is required to change either the "Content is available under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) unless otherwise noted." footer text or CreativeCommons copyright logo at the bottom of every page on a given wiki, so am not actually sure what that Special:ManageWiki/settings variable actually sets. Dmehus (talk) 12:23, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Deleting local accounts

I don't like how the CentralAuth system will automatically create an account every time you visit a wiki, because occasionally if you accidentally click on a wiki it will randomly create an account even if you never intend to use that wiki and just clicked on it. Since there is a way to delete global accounts, I think that there should be a way to delete local accounts, or remove them from the global account. This would be so that a user would not have accounts clogging their CentralAuth, including wikis that they never intend to contribute too. Just look at my CentralAuth, I have a ton of accounts: Special:CentralAuth/Blubabluba9990. This has also happened to stewards and wiki creators if they create a requested wiki, which is why they have tons of wikis in their CentralAuth. Of course, you would have to request for a local account to be deleted because this would only be able to be done by people who can edit a user's global account. There could also be a way for local accounts to be automatically deleted after a certain period of inactivity, like wiki dormancy. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:55, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Unfortunately this is not supported by CentralAuth. On your point regarding Wiki Dormancy, if a wiki is deleted for any reason. It will be removed from CentralAuth too. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (on) 06:32, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
I know. That would probably be something I would have to talk about with the MediaWiki developers, specifically the ones who developed the CentralAuth extension. Because I have some local accounts that I want deleted, and the only way to delete them would be to delete the wikis I guess. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 14:18, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
I mean, technically speaking, local user accounts can be unmerged from a global account, but they can't be deleted. They'd have to be merged into another account and then merged into that separate global account. However, without a very good reason, it's simply not a scalable practice on a wiki farm with ~4,200 wikis and ~125,000 global user accounts. Dmehus (talk) 14:58, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. So if I wanted a local account gone, I would have to create another account and merge the local account into the other global account.
Interesting how it is possible to delete global accounts but not local accounts. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:31, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Is there any way I would be able to speak with MediaWiki developers to get them to add a feature to CentralAuth to delete local accounts. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:34, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Infobox trouble

Hi. I'm having trouble with infoboxes in my wiki, I can't seem to get the infoboxes to appear on the right side of pages. I'm also wondering why the "Script error: No such module "Check for unknown parameters"." keeps popping up. Could someone please take a look and offer some tips? Thank you! Hogan (talk) 14:17, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

You need the module Check for unknown parameters. For example, you can copy it from English Wikipedia. You can adjust the Infobox location in Common.css on your wiki. Anton (talk) 14:21, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Hi Anton, thanks for replying. How do I find common.css? Thanks. Hogan (talk) 14:26, 17 May 2021 (UTC) - I haven’t visited your wiki yet, but that’s how it usually should be. Anton (talk) 14:47, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Request for log deletion

Hello, I'm Kyosu-tanni.

Can you please delete these logs: this, this and this? Because a situation that I may be specified as a individual by using these data happened in my real life. Kyosu-tanni (talk) 15:54, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

I'm asking a Miraheze Steward or Global Sysop to delete them. @Dmehus: @Void: @John: @NDKilla: @Reception123:MarioMario456 16:27, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Kyosu-tanni I don't see as this requires oversight, as there's no personally identifying information in these logs. In terms of revision deletion, I also don't feel this is needed here. Dmehus (talk) 16:31, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Kyosu-tanni I could mark these wiki requests as visible to only those with the createwiki user right, though, so only wiki creators could view these wiki requests. Would that work for you? Dmehus (talk) 16:32, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
@Dmehus Does it mean that only the users who have createwiki right will be able to see the logs? Then, it'll work for me. Thank you! Kyosu-tanni (talk) 12:09, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Kyosu-tanni Only wiki creators will be able to view the wiki requests in question; however, the Farmer log entries would still be visible, as I have talked to Reception123 and neither of us see a justified case for revision deletion. Perhaps if you can clarify your request a bit more, preferably privately off-wiki via direct message to me on either Discord or IRC, we can reevaluate whether there would be a justification here, as even changing the wiki requests' visibility is an edge case certainly. A question

I have noticed some users have the username "MirahezeGDPR" followed by a long string of random characters. At first I thought that these were just socks, they seem to be friending each other which makes me think that these are actually different users. And above, I saw something talking about users getting "GDPR'd". What does this mean? Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:43, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Also, some of these accounts are apparently globally locked, but nothing shows up in CentralAuth. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:46, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Blubabluba9990 GDPR is an acronym that refers to the European Commission's General Data Protection Regulation. When the UK left the European Union, it adopted similar legislation known as the Data Protection Act of the United Kingdom that is functionally similar to the EU's GDPR. As well, presumably as part of the UK's exit agreement from the EU, UK organizations and companies are required to adhere to the GDPR for European Union citizens/residents. As a UK-based not-for-profit corporation, Miraheze Limited is legally obligated carry out its obligations under both the UK's Data Protection Act and the EU's GDPR. Collectively, "GDPR" commonly refers to both legal regimes. The reasons for the instances you mention can range from Miraheze Limited being legally prohibited to collect personal information from users under a certain age (13) to EU/UK citizens requesting Miraheze Limited remove their personal information. Likewise, non-EU/UK citizens can also request to have their personal information removed, and Miraheze Limited would still oblige their request (although for EU/UK citizens, there are timelines in which the process must be completed and other reporting obligations to the UK data regulatory authority). Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 00:37, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
While the anonymized account will still be displayed in CentralAuth, the log entries related the account's creation, actions the account performed on all attached wikis, and the account's renaming and anonymization must be removed, hence why you see no rename log entries for the account. Dmehus (talk) 00:40, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. That makes sense. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:56, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Though the edits by the users still do show up. I guess that means that if a user is under 13 they would be globally locked and then anonymized. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:40, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes, their edits will still show up, but their social profiles, likely user pages, and user creations and renames should all be deleted. If you happen to find personally identifying information related to the above, you can e-mail to request oversight. Also, if it's personally identifying information more broadly, you can also request oversight by e-mailing Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 21:45, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Ok. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 23:11, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
