Slow servers / and/or/ slow to login.

Hello. Unfortunately, today 22 January, Miraheze servers were ridiculously slow today, as shown in the section above. It seemed to stabilize now, and has improved (previously it was really good until today). So, one part that has always intrigued me since the day of the update is that it takes a long time to log in to Miraheze (most of the time, 502 bad gateway errors occur). It takes up to several seconds to complete the login, eventually a 502 occurs, which when it occurs we have to fill out the form again and try again! And ball for another eternity. Honestly, I expected more after the migration. The servers may even have been improved (decreasing the delay), but not in the case of login. What is your opinion on this? Does this happen to you? (delay when logging in). --YellowFrogger (talk) () 21:30, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

As you yourself know very well from the discussions on Discord, stuff happens. Computers will be computers and there'll always be little blips that will occur. This'll hopefully pass soon and there is really no need to make a thread to discuss this unless it's persistent and even then, a discussion on Discord/IRC would probably be better than a Community noticeboard thread. Agent Isai Talk to me! 21:46, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
When you mentioned computers I prefer to think that you cited an example: my computer is not so good, but not so bad either. "No need to make a thread to discuss this unless it's persistent", actually this has been going on for days, and it's probably persistent. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 22:14, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

A problem with Phabricator

I went on Phabricator, and it told me to click the MediaWiki button below and connect with my Miraheze wiki account. However, there are multiple problems:

 1. There is no "MediaWiki button", or at least, I don't know what they're talking about.
 2. They claim that my username and password is invalid for some reason.
 3. They say that my username and password is incorrect.

FatBurn0000 (sandbox | CentralAuth) 23:42, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

The passwords and username are invalid because you don't have a phabricator account. You must accept the OAuth permission, then it will log in by itself. What do you mean there isn't a MediaWiki button? I believe it's confusion of Fat because it's happened to me to disappear (after I fill in the login form). --YellowFrogger (talk) () 00:22, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Just to make sure, I've outlined the area that's necessary to click first after hitting the login button. It's the only valid one to use and if you don't see it, something is wrong. I know it was down for some time after transition, but that was fixed. If you still don't see it, you may need to reset your cache for miraheze/phabricator or on desktop, hit alt+f5 to force a refresh. --Raidarr (talk) 11:38, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

Create a specific AN for incident reporting

I recently made a RfC explaining to terms a new noticeboard that would especially fit the blocks (global and local) and incident reports in Meta. However, all voted against, with one user citing "not against the idea, plus the fact of an RfC for it" as well as another opponent (3–4 of votes are mixed, two cite not against the idea, another quotes "Per", but has supported the idea in the past). Definitely weak consensus, let's say. Where do I get this? If I don't need an RfC. I wish I had an answer. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 06:31, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

YellowFrogger, Special:IncidentReports actually already exists for this very thing; however, SRE, admittedly, has not been keeping up with IRs of late. Dmehus (talk) 06:34, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
YF's meaning is specifically for incidents involving blocks and locks, not the technical reports per the linked special page. --Raidarr (talk) 09:05, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
I actually have more opinion on that - there should be a new channel in the discord server and a new IRC channel for that (if #cvt doesn't already do that). Anpang📨 09:39, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
The #cvt channel does, and is typically the first destination for that. --Raidarr (talk) 09:58, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Cannot login to Phabricator

I currently cannot login to Phabricator. First, there is no "MediaWiki" button at https://phabricator.miraheze.org/auth/start/?next=%2F. Second, when I try to login to Phabricator using my GitHub account, an error like the following is shown:

Unhandled Exception ("HTTPFutureCURLResponseStatus")

[cURL/7] (https://github.com/login/oauth/access_token) <CURLE_COULDNT_CONNECT> The cURL library raised an error while making a request. You may be able to find more information about this error (error code: 7) on the cURL site: http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html#CURLECOULDNTCONNECT

So, when will logging in to Phabricator start working again (with both the "GitHub" and the "MediaWiki" buttons shown)? GTrang (talk) 22:26, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

Now, the "MediaWiki" button is back (and logging in using the Miraheze account works), but logging in using the GitHub account still gives the same error message regardless of whether I was logged in on Miraheze or not. This issue has been reported at T8617. GTrang (talk) 23:24, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
Phabricator is being wonky lately. I'm sure someone is working on this. 29TB (talk) 20:26, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
@GTrang As of right now, logging in using the MediaWiki button works, and it goes through Miraheze, as usual. I was informed the Github button is not the one to use (disabled or non-working because it doesn't use Miraheze username or associate to a Miraheze account they can follow), in case that is helpful. | -- FrozenPlum (Talk / Email)

Importing templates

Hello guys, Could someone please help me out? I am having trouble importing templates to my Wiki, I tried both the export/import method and the copypaste method, they do not work for me, and I am not skilled enough to make templates on my own. I would like to have two templates on my Wiki:

The birth date and age template seems especially confusing even though I thought it would be an easy one as it seems just a calculator template. I would need these two for my Wiki, I don't know if someone has time and is willing to help me with it, I would be very grateful. ShaytonSky (talk) 20:44, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

It seems these templates also rely on Modules to be imported. Also, when importing something from another wiki try to make sure you import everything it depends on. I could try to help out here shortly if you'd like. Hypercane (talk) 21:16, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
@Hypercane: Uh-oh, if Moduls are involved I give it up, that is extremely hard to even understand for me, not to mention editing them... Would it be easier to create an infobox and an age calculator from zero on my wiki? Would it be even possible? Thank you very much by the way. --ShaytonSky (talk) 21:36, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
I would think creating it from scratch or perhaps even checking the edit history of the template(s) would be optimal. I'm pretty sure in the edit history there's a version that didn't rely on modules. Hypercane (talk) 21:57, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
I tried checking several old versions of the Birth date and age template, but all revisions sound like they were written in Chinese to me, I understand nothing about those expressions, values, incorporated templates etc. I never thought it would be this complicated, I thought it would be a simple copypaste from another wiki... It seems like I have two choices left: I either commission someone who is professional in this field and can make the templates for me, or I give up this stuff entirely and create infoboxes 'manually' by filling in empty wikitables or such. They would be ugly, but I know no better option unfortunately. --ShaytonSky (talk) 22:12, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Well, I'm sorry about that. I am still willing to help you in any way I can. Could I perhaps give this a try? Hypercane (talk) 22:16, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your help and your offer, of course you can give it a try if you want to, I would really appreciate it! --ShaytonSky (talk) 22:23, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Alright, I'll give it my best shot. Thank you. Hypercane (talk) 22:25, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm following up to essentially mark this as Resolved. I hope you have fun with the template(s) and your wiki! Also, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need more assistance. Hypercane (talk) 02:40, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

User groups disappeared

Hi! In Miraheze, there was an update that redirects all groups (on all wikis, even though they have a page for it) to User groups. In mine, and in many wikis, there was a bug that eliminates user groups!, see an example in this wiki. Passing by to inform about it. Thanks! --YellowFrogger (talk) () 21:53, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Hmm, that's strange indeed. I would definitely pass this on to Phabricator for instance as this does not seem normal at all. Hopefully it gets resolved for you. Hypercane (talk) 21:56, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm still wondering if this is really suitable for phabricator (or if there's a task in progress). It really is weird. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 02:09, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
We noticed that issue occur on another wiki but strangely, it does not affect some wikis. I'll forward this to SRE. Thanks, Agent Isai Talk to me! 02:12, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Change the appearance of audio files?

Hi there, My audio files appear in a gray form that I don't like as you can see here : https://fiction.miraheze.org/wiki/Fichier:Youre-too-slow.ogg But I would like them to appear as in the form here : https://www.pokepedia.fr/Fichier:Cri_4_d_025.ogg Thanks in advance for your help. Hiding the "Donate to Miraheze", "Hosted by Miraheze" and "Powered by MediaWiki", and how to change the Terms of Use direct to my own one on my own wiki?

How do I hide stuff like "Donate to Miraheze", "Hosted by Miraheze", "Powered by MediaWiki", and change the Terms of Use to direct to my own Terms of Use (I've seen this before!) TheWiki (talk) 15:06, 26 January 2022 (UTC)The W1ki

@TheWiki You can't hide Donate to Miraheze or Hosted by Miraheze. Why would you want to? SoyokoAnis 15:42, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
@TheWiki: Hello! To hide the Powered by MediaWiki and hosted by Miraheze buttons, use li#footer-poweredbyico { display: none;} in your wiki's MediaWiki.common.css, and to hide the links in the Terms footer de Uso and Donate to Miraheze, use; li#footer-places-termsofservice { display: none;} (to hide the terms of use link) and li#footer-places-donate { display: none;} ( to hide the Donate to Miraheze link). But the question remains: why do you want to hide the links of "Donate to Miraheze", and that will not only help Miraheze, as only the servers of all wikis, including yours, donations help the servers to be more fast. I have the impression that you are trying to hide that your wiki is Miraheze, or simply assuming that they are "Wordmark". I would be more embarrassed to host a wiki on FANDOM. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 18:25, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
Additionally, you can change the page that "Terms of Use" links to by changing MediaWiki:Termsofservicepage. However, should you change the "Terms of Use" link, I would advise you link inside your new Terms of Use page a link to the global Terms of Use (all users are bound it and all global policies). And on top of that, I am also curious why one would wish to hide the "Donate to Miraheze" button. We are, after all, a free service that runs exclusively on donations. Agent Isai Talk to me! 19:14, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
Nobody would want to Donate to Miraheze, I do not want people to waste their money on a free Wiki hosting service. Also, I'm not trying to hide it, they would still see the domain name anyway. TheWiki (talk) 02:45, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
It may be a free wiki hosting platform, but to host something like Miraheze is most definitely not free. I don't know the specifics on how much it costs to run a site like this though it probably is a lot. So if people want to donate it would help them out too. As for your statement on "nobody would want to donate to Miraheze" that is quite honestly false. People have donated and will most likely continue to donate. All in all, I don't mind you want to potentially get rid of the donation link on your wiki...but please don't say it's a waste to donate because it is not. Hypercane (talk) 02:52, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
@TheWiki: There are people who donate to Miraheze (see Finance page, for example). Also, the donations are done to keep Miraheze well, I would donate if I had the money as it offers voluntary service unlike wiki farms like ShoutWiki (which puts a bitter price on removing ads) or FANDOM. So it's not mandatory, but it's necessary, because the site doesn't have ads and only survives on that. That's why I recommend that you keep this link in the footer, it's better for everyone. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 02:53, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Issue with infoboxes

Hello! It's not the first time that I ask for help with this particular issue. The other attempts on my part did not lead anywhere, as no Steward could offer any help due to a lack of information from my part. In anycase, that's a mistake that I don't intend on commiting this time.

After importing some .xml files from other wikis, I somehow managed to break all infoboxes, as shown on this link: [1] (It's a Imgur link with screenshots).

Any help is extremely appreciated. -- IvanCastroTheFool (talk) 21:58, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

Still waiting. -- IvanCastroTheFool (talk) 14:34, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
So firstly, please note that this is actually a matter for the Community noticeboard. Aside from that I can try to render some assistance here, moving to the community noticeboard if you would like. Since the wiki this is on is private I cannot troubleshoot directly. Breaking the infoboxes indicates something from your imports overwrote them or some component of them. A key culprit may be your MediaWiki:Common.css file. If it was overwritten, you may have your problem right there, otherwise I'd look into old versions of the infoboxes and any content that affects them in styling. --Raidarr (talk) 09:25, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
Right. Thanks for the help, in any case. I would be extremely grateful about moving this to the Community noticeboard, if that isn't too much trouble. And, in any case, I could make the wiki public to help with troubleshooting. Again: Thanks for the help. -- IvanCastroTheFool (talk) 10:06, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Quiz about wiki creations

Just because nobody responded (yet), doesn't mean nobody cares. Everyone has their own lives. 29TB (talk) 20:23, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
@29TB: Fact. Therefore, because it is unwilling. There are things for them to solve in Meta, and that takes time. They're not so interested in doing. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 20:30, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
I intended to assemble an odd 5-6 interesting edge cases for this prompt, but I must admit it is not at the top of my list, mainly because on my part it will entail some digging to get appropriate historic scenarios. I'm particularly interested in prompting for those which have a degree of disagreement between wiki creators, as to better test discretion and offered rationale. --Raidarr (talk) 20:37, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
@Raidarr: I didn't quite understand your comment. But I was wondering what exactly "odd 5-6 interesting edge cases" means. I'm inclined to know how a wiki request is handled, not least because I think my knowledge is far, far from limited. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 20:44, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
The quiz is created here. I opted to add a few more to be comprehensive and make a process that more fully encompasses how requests work. Feel free to address answers at your own time. It's a lot at once, but response time is not an element in the scenario. --Raidarr (talk) 22:02, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Problem with templates in visual editor

I wanted to make templates for a character in a story, with infoboxes (using Portable infoboxes), sections describing them, etc. I created a template for "Character", but once I embed it on a normal page and want to edit it with VisualEditor, I can't do it. Once you click on it, it becomes highlighed, and you can't type anything or edit it in any way. I can't edit it with source code, because it appears only as Template:Character, without its contents. I searched MediaWiki manual but did not find anyone who would have this problem. This is how it looks like: https://ibb.co/X7LVSRt Could someone help me out? Ozymphoenix (talk) 15:42, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

@Ozymphoenix: What happens if you click "Edit" (the blue button on the right) when the template is selected? It should allow you to edit some of the template's values? Agent Isai Talk to me! 16:57, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
I did a bit of digging and managed to partially fix the problem. I separated the infobox and the rest of the article as separate templates. Then I added every value from the source code to TemplateData and can now freely edit the infobox. However, when I do the same to the rest of the article (where there is just regular headings, text itd), changes are not visible in the article. Ozymphoenix (talk) 18:02, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello. The problem shown is an internal MediaWiki error (exemption) when saving the edit with the tag <math>, this is the third user on CN a talk about it. The error is still unknown. @Darkrai18: "1 step back to go 2 steps forward" ~ I use the Wikipedia infobox as it is used on many pages by many users, it has a simple system. It has been added to the Test Wiki. It consists of 2 parts:
 1. Module:Infobox
 2. Template:Infobox
I have recreated your infobox using this template on the Test Wiki to illustrate. So "1 step back to go 2 steps forward" you might like to use this and further infoboxes with this template.

Abuse of power in Real Life Villains Wiki

the autocratic administrator (Rangerkid51) has blocked me due to personal prejudice and is reverting my changes. too subversive towards others--Nicaragua Villainy (talk) 20:29, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

That's pretty bad, isn't it? However, could you give us more details, or even mention this on the stewards noticeboard to see what action they can take? I can go review the wiki for details as well. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 20:44, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
The block appears to have been made on a sockpuppetry charge and was performed on reallifevillainswiki. Ultimately I've opted not to move the topic to the SN, but that doesn't preclude someone else - perhaps or preferably a Steward - from doing so if seen as appropriate. Typically the correct path is to appeal locally, but the charge is serious and was made with restricted talk page access, and so that doesn't seem probable. It doesn't help that the appealing user went on a spree to raise this issue in multiple places on Meta that were clearly not appropriate, resulting in the 1 week block as of this posting and his current inability to follow up with this subject outside his talk page. I think it would be reasonable for someone to ask about the rationale/behavioral evidence behind the sockpuppetry charge resulting in a heavy indefinite block with no talk page access, otherwise there's not much to reasonably do here. --Raidarr (talk) 22:59, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

Incident disclosure

On 1 February, 2022, Site Reliability Engineering received an isolated report that the MediaWiki interface indicated that a user had been shown as being logged in to the account of another user when browsing Miraheze. As a precaution, we logged everyone out of their accounts and reset all user tokens to ensure no accounts were at risk. We have no evidence that this was abused in any way nor affected anyone other than the user who made us aware.

Your security and privacy are very important to us. As such, we have steps to harden our configuration to prevent future incidents like this from happening. In keeping with our commitment of transparency, SRE is informing the community of this incident so that they are aware. No action is required from your part.

If you have any questions, feel free to reply on to this thread or email us at sre(at)miraheze.org.

On behalf of Site Reliability Engineering,
Agent Isai (talk) 05:19, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

Has the other affected user been notified individually about the issue? Are there any recommended steps toward security improvements for users? dross (tcg) 06:05, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
Yes. In fact, the affected user was the one who alerted us that another user had been able to log in to their account as the other user reached out to the affected user to let them know. As this was something that doesn't have anything to do with passwords and the such, there's nothing that can be recommended to users at this time. Agent Isai Talk to me! 06:42, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
Is there a reason why you are not mentioning the names of the two users? Or why you seem unable to determine the cause? If users are just being logged into each others accounts and you have no idea why, that is a problem. Naleksuh (talk) 06:49, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
We can name them and you yourself can see the name of the users in this task. We were able to pinpoint the issue and have filed an upstream Wikimedia Phabricator task to address the issue. Agent Isai Talk to me! 07:02, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
The user affected was in direct contact with SRE via a now public Phabricator task. There's no need to mention them in a wider announcement. We are aware of a possible cause but due to lack of logging there is no way to tell for sure. We've taken measures to improve logging. RhinosF1 (Miraheze) (talk) 14:54, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

Generally speaking it is quite difficult to develop a community from nothing, and the founder of a new wiki who does not have background or a community is going to have to put in a lot of personal work to make the wiki worthwhile to new editors. --Raidarr (talk) 20:55, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

Partially retired

Hello everybody. Unfortunately I will have to partially retire (I will only edit Meta eventually) and I will perhaps be more active on my wikis. I would like to be wiki creator in that community than any other right, with all of my two requests being failure. Now I will edit less often and now it's going to be more complicated with my latest edits. Thanks --YellowFrogger (talk) () 19:20, 13 February 2022 (UTC) .I'll stay on Meta, but I'll be more responsible and clear, CIR: more competent. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 23:54, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

YellowFrogger, how so? Autopatrolled is not a prerequisite to apply for wikicreator. What is a prerequisite is a solid understanding of and demonstrated ability to apply correctly Content Policy, the substantial majority of the time it in wiki approval or decline decisions. You've been working with raidarr on that, as your mentor, and that's been helpful, so my best advice would not be to seek a self-nomination and let him nominate you when he thinks you're ready. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 19:26, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
@Dmehus: I didn't say autopatrolled is a requirement, I'm just saying how it feels to use it [revocation] in the future. I also think I'm aware of CP, according to my answers to @Raidarr: but for someone to make a request to me it's practically impossible. Anything you can disregard what I said above (in case I undo and go back to edit), so I will only edit the noticeboards more often. --YellowFrogger (talk) () 19:44, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
Okay. Sounds good. :) Dmehus (talk) 19:53, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

Do not include quotes on the page preview?

Hi, How not to include for example a quote when previewing the pages? When I say "preview", I mean when you are on a page, you click on the link and you can preview a page without clicking on it. Title

Can anyone tell me why how Wikipedia manages to remove the title of "Main Page" and some Miraheze wikis have that title? Thanks. Frebiees (talk) 17:47, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

You can achieve this by adding the following snippet to your MediaWiki:Common.css:
.action-view.page-Main_Page #siteSub,
.action-view.page-Main_Page #contentSub,
.action-view.page-Main_Page #contentSub2 {

@Emojiwiki: Interwiki access isn't given to Bureaucrats by default due to security concerns regarding malicious sites being given prefixes. You can request local interwiki administrator by following the process laid out in Interwiki administrators. — Arcversin (talk) 12:21, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Owner user group on wikis

A wiki must have an owner role, esp. on large wikis with a huge moderating team. When multiple bureaucrats are granted, and once they abuse their rights, nobody but stewards can stop them, and that's unacceptable.

To solve it, an owner group should be created, with the right to revoke bureaucrats. Owners should be able to grant others to be owners, however, they should be 100% trusted. For now, it is possible to create such a group with a lot of "hacks" (complex ways), but a default existing owner group will be nice. When a wiki is being adopted, the owner role is being granted to the adopter.

Thank you for reading all of these. Owner group is really needed on huge wikis. Emojiwiki (talk) 04:37, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Wikis don't have "owners", they are instead 'owned' by its local community and local consensus is ultimately what will always prevail. As such, I think an "owner" group might cause confusion by making users think that only one user has ultimate control of a wiki. Agent Isai Talk to me! 04:40, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
In theory, though, it is possible to have a "super group," defined by local policy, that cannot be revoked by anyone other than yourself, but the policy would have to be defined before users start contributing to your wiki, or there'd need to be overwhelming consensus on your wiki to establish that group. Still, though, I would personally advise against calling the group owner. Some wikis use the term leader, consul, or president, all of which should sound better than "owner." Dmehus (talk) 05:15, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
That's also OK. BTW I am surprised by this fast replying speed, which is faster than English Wikipedia. Emojiwiki (talk) 05:22, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
More detais: therefore, the right to do any group right modifications should be reassigned to owners and not bureaucrats. Emojiwiki (talk) 05:28, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
This imo is entirely unnecessary at a global level. If it is necessary, the tools are available to build it in naturally, and the arrangement should be made in considering the needs of the specific wiki. It's not that complex really, just takes understanding of how the platform operates and asking if uncertain. Otherwise the best arrangement Miraheze can offer is the default setup MediaWiki itself provides, which is what we do.
Aside from that, you're free to 'hoard' group assignment, but it sounds like bureaucrat would be obsolete + you'd have a very inefficient system. --Raidarr (talk) 15:09, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Password Reset With No Email

Unable to import Template:Infobox

Hi. I've been attempting to import Template:Infobox for my wiki using Special:Import, and while the importing process appears to be successful, the templates themselves are broken. Going to the page itself, for example, produces a slew of Script and Lua errors about missing modules. Constantly being logged out

So, when I log in here on meta, it just logs me in. But when I go to a different miraheze tab that is loaded before logging in (it says im logged out), instead of it becoming logged in, when I reload the meta tab I have used to login, it just logs me out. Is there some way to "merge" 2 wikis

The best way to "merge" a wiki is to export the contents of one wiki and import it into another. You can try to make a DataDump of your wiki and try to import it on the other wiki to see if it works and if it doesn't then you can make a Phabricator task asking that an XML dump be imported. Apology to Qualitipedia

This is a message to everyone in the Qualitipedia community.

Hello. I was a 'co writer' (unoffically, as in I contributed to it) for one of the rants about the Qualitipedia network of wikis, the one from Random-ness wiki. I'm sorry I didn't write any good points and saying the wikis enforce opinions. I apologise from the bottom of my heart. This is an apology for all the users and admins but I can't post this on the Qualitipedia meta wiki or anywhere else since I'd have to be autoconfirmed and there's nothing I can add to these wikis to get me to that position.

I found about this because I used to go on the qualitipedia meta wiki trying to understand what these wikis are about. I will tell you while I don't hate reception wikis/Qualitipedia anymore I still don't like them and they confuse me. At best, they're not really my sort of thing. However, I'm not going to make that the community's problem and rant about it anymore. Other people's better articulated arguments I agree with, simply. I failed to express that myself.

Basically, I'm sorry for what I wrote. Writing this I hope will help me put my mind at ease, since this has been worrying me both day and night. I don't want to interact with the wikis any more than this since they don't bring me any good feelings, but that's just personal and with the topic and point of the wikis in general and I'm not going to make anyone hear about that anymore. I wish the wikis luck on improving. Raichu's Endless Nights (talk) 21:00, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

hi raichu, long-time lurker from qualitipedia here who at the same time has a neutral/constructive perspective on the wikis. i have linked this apology on qualitipedia meta so others can see it. while i don't approve of the randomness wiki rant (and i also see that you blanked it once with a "we're sorry") as like most rants they have many destructive points that overwhelm any constructivism that can be rescued, it's good that you've come to peace with your personal grievances with the wikis. you're free to dislike them, but the line where we have a problem is when the hate gets out of control to the point where they act irrational and with the intent of eliminating the wikis, which of course goes agaisnt our own intentions of improving them. it's good that you're delimiting yourself there, we (or at least i) really appreciate it as it's a first amongst the hatedom. we might as well make it more clearer in the future that everyone there is free to have their own opinion on media, and encourage them to use qualitipedia as a sort of basis to form their own, plus qualitipedia won't necessarily always reflect your own opinions. cheers. Yonydesk (talk) 00:25, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
While blogs are likely restricted to autoconfirmed (page creation), you should be able to open a discussion on the talk of the main page to achieve a similar end. If you look into it, let me know if you can't. Otherwise Yony has a good introspective here. You're welcome to your opinions and indeed, to express any particular critique/outstanding issues you have on the QP central wiki. As far as I know you haven't abused multiple accounts nor been uncivilized on the wikis themselves, and that's really where the line is drawn. I'll be going over a number of reports/complaints tomorrow and addressing in a local capacity where able.
For whatever reason I've gotten myself into the wikis for their improvement, as a unique aside to my Steward role. It's something I've considered quitting several times as frankly, the standard fare of the wikis is also not my thing. But, they need guidance to be in a better place and at least fend for themselves in a way that won't bring trouble to global volunteers, so I do what I can and welcome anyone's input, including yours to help see that happen. In any case, take care. --Raidarr (talk) 14:37, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

There is a problem in the wiki page

I have a problem with some of my wiki articles maybe it's related to some template in an article (example : https://tolololpedia.miraheze.org/wiki/Fakihnesia) I hope it gets fixed soon because it's annoying and what is "Scribunto" ChioGaming2007 (talk) 00:51, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

@ChioGaming2007: I repaired the page you linked. What seems to have happened is that somehow the content model of the revision became "Scribunto" while that of the page remained "wikitext". I don't know how this happened, and you should probably open a ticket on Phabricator if it happens to other pages in the future. For reference, this had to be fixed using the API, as follows:
api = new mw.Api()
resp = await api.get({
 'action': 'query',
	'prop': 'revisions',
	'rvslots': '*',
	'rvlimit': 1,
	'rvprop': 'content',
	'titles': 'Fakihnesia'
})
await api.postWithToken('edit', {
 'action': 'edit',
	'title': 'Fakihnesia',
	'text': resp.query.pages['445'].revisions[0].slots.main['*'],
	'summary': 'repair contentmodel wierdness',
	'contentmodel': 'wikitext'
})

It's not just that article, another article is the same how I change all the articles at the same time ChioGaming2007 (talk) 03:40, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
@ChioGaming2007: You'd need to run that script (with adjustments for page name) on all affected pages. Since there seem to be a lot of them, I could do that via a bot if you'd like. — Arcversin (talk) 03:45, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Just use bots
but i have to operate it or you ChioGaming2007 (talk) 04:30, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
@ChioGaming2007: I can do it, just give ImportBot bot rights here. — Arcversin (talk) 04:38, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Done. ChioGaming2007 (talk) 04:54, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Hello ChioGaming2007 (talk) 05:06, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
It's in progress. — Arcversin (talk) 05:27, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
@ChioGaming2007: I suspect what we're trying to fix is a symptom of something worse, the wiki is giving off errors on numerous pages, keep an eye on T8842 on Phabricator. — Arcversin (talk) 05:44, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
So what should I do? ChioGaming2007 (talk) 08:47, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Done, all pages should be fixed. — Arcversin (talk) 18:40, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks! ChioGaming2007 (talk) 22:55, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Creating pages on Terrible TV Shows Wiki.

I want permission to create pages on Terrible TV Shows Wiki. SonicFTW (talk) 06:54, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

@SonicFTW: This request should be made on that wiki. — Arcversin (talk) 07:00, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
SonicFTW, in addition to what Arcversin said above, please note that I have procedurally moved this thread as out of scope of Meta:Administrators' noticeboard to community noticeboard where it is now more in scope. If you are not able to ask on-wiki, you can try posting the user talk page of any local administrator by making that request. You should be able to create a user talk page message. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 09:20, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
To be frank SonicFTW, I think you may have been misunderstanding the scope of this wiki (Meta for all of Miraheze, but not Qualitipedia in particular) given the blank requests for adminship and this request. The central wiki for requests is Qualitipedia Central, though your request can be resolved by making a request on the main talk page of the wiki you'd like rights on. Please keep this in mind. Nonetheless I have addressed your request in my local capacity. --Raidarr (talk) 13:37, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Why is it always: "Cannot access the database: Too many connections" and i cannot connect my wikis?

Today I visit my wiki, and I suddenly found a hint: Sorry! This site is experiencing technical difficulties.

and errors:Cannot access the database: Too many connections

What's problems? Is it a server problem? Rosalina129 (talk) 06:43, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

It's db111, Rosalina129 (talk) 08:07, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi, we are aware of the issues and are looking into it. Unfortunately this started happening last night and at the time most of our team were away or asleep, and so this couldn’t be resolved quickly. Apologies for the inconvenience. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 12:48, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
