Agent Isai[edit | edit source]

  • Statement:
As most of you may already know, I have the privilege of currently being on the Board of Directors and I serve as President of the WikiTide Foundation along with Deputy Director of Site Reliability Engineering. I also serve in many other volunteer positions, including Steward, Meta Administrator, and other roles. I would be very eager and pleased to continue serving in my Board roles, should the community agree as well.
I was one of the first incorporators of the WikiTide Foundation and served as Treasurer until January when I transitioned to President. I am proud of all the accomplishments the Foundation has been able to achieve in less than a year of existence. When WikiTide existed as its own independent farm, I was able to steer it to financial and technical stability. At its prime, the farm was severely overprovisioned and achieved 1/3rd of Miraheze's computing power for 1/7th of the cost.
I was absolutely delighted when the chance for WikiTide Foundation to help Miraheze was presented. Over the past three months, Miraheze has been propelled into a new era. We are in a place of stability, both tech-wise and financially. Gone are the days of being made fun of as the slow and fragile wiki farm which was about to go belly up at any moment because of the volatile nature of donations.
Taking a peek over at Finance, the Foundation is in a place of true stability. Our Fundraiser this year, overseen by me, went fantastically! If we were to suddenly receive no donations for a year straight, we would still have enough to operate through 2026! We have already paid all services through 2025 and yet have a surplus that surpasses our best year in donations after a fundraiser.
Our stronger finances have allowed us to upgrade from hardware that was old enough to get a drivers permit, to newer, more powerful, data center quality hardware that can not only keep up with Miraheze's growing demands but also gives us a lot of growing space. Most of our current servers have a regular CPU usage rate of <25% meaning our servers can accommodate a lot more growth if required. These extra resources have allowed us to also implement newer technologies such as Kafka and have, as promised in the Fundraiser, improved our loading speeds by tenfold. I'm sure we all enjoy the much faster loading speeds Miraheze has seen, and the better reliability that this new infrastructure has seen.
If elected to the Board of Directors of WikiTide Foundation, I would continue to help Miraheze propel into this new age and improve much more. Board affairs can be ad hoc and this new Board of Directors has already reformed so many things (such as Trust and Safety, SRE organization, Board organization and officers, etc.) so I cannot definitively say "If I'm elected, I will reform X, address the grievances Y has caused, and do Z" but I can promise everyone that I will continue to help steer the Foundation in a manner that ensures the best for the Miraheze community. I really care about Miraheze (or else I wouldn't have devoted so many hours to it) and I want what's best for it. I want Miraheze to be a serious wiki farm that is no longer the laughingstock of the wiki world for being slow, fragile, and disorganized. We have so much history but the growing pains have been tremendous. I wish to help oversee Miraheze as it transitions from a farm seen as an informal, disorganized passion project to a serious non-profit public charity with firm foundations. I am confident that if elected, I can help Miraheze continue to grow and improve, and overall help to improve user satisfaction and trust/reliability in the farm.
I look forward to answering any questions you may have. Agent Isai Talk to me! 03:31, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

  • Statement:
I initially joined Miraheze when it was suggested as an alternative over FANDOM for a new project I wanted to create, and, while I had planned a short-term stint to simply finish the project, I was fascinated by the ethos of the platform that reflected my own beliefs so strongly - a platform provided as a public good, to democratize the process of documenting knowledge without gatekeeping. That ethos led me to devote an increasing amount of my free time and I'm proud to be part of this new era of a stable, well-funded Miraheze. Should the community see fit to elect me, I would be thrilled to continue on my service as a director of the WikiTide Foundation. --NotAracham (talkcontribsglobal) 16:07, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you very much for this nomination! Agent has already extensively covered the background with WikiTide so I don't think it'd make sense if I went through that again. As most of you know, I've been around since Miraheze's inception with one hiatus and currently I am a Steward, SRE and Director. I would be honored to be given the opportunity to continue my work on the Board and bring my experience at Miraheze to the table in order to continue to improve the project for everyone and continue the transition into a more serious and organised wikifarm.
