Counter Vandalism Team
This page documents a global Miraheze policy. This policy follows consensus and/or guidelines set by global functionaries. All Miraheze users should follow it, and changes made to it should be discussed on the talk page. In the event of any differences in meaning between the original English version and a translation, the original English version takes precedence. |
Miraheze's Counter Vandalism Team ("CVT") is a group of volunteer users dedicated to cleaning up spam and vandalism, and preventing it when possible. Across all wikis, the Counter Vandalism Team assists users and communities in combating spam and vandalism. While any user may help out in combating vandalism where possible such as by reverting vandalism and play the part, the official team currently consists of users elected as Stewards, Global Sysops, and Global Rollbackers.
Stewards have global access to read private wikis, as well as access to CheckUser and Oversight tools as well as to all parts of the MediaWiki interface, while Global Sysops and Global Rollbackers do not have the ability to read private wikis, access to CheckUser or Oversight, and only have access to tools generally available to local administrators and rollbackers, respectively.
If you have an issue with any action taken by a CVT member such as a lock or block, or if you want to request CVT assistance, you can email cvtmiraheze.org (which is received by Global Sysops and Stewards) or you can request help on the Stewards' noticeboard where a Steward, Global Sysop, or Global Rollbacker may help.
Action log
A list of CVT member's actions is located on cvtwiki. The page is on the read whitelist and visible to all users.
Opt-out
If there is local community consensus, a wiki can request to opt out of Global Sysop intervention. Stewards should be notified at Stewards' noticeboard once the local discussion has concluded, so they can assess the local consensus and effect the necessary change requested by the wiki. Opting out of Steward or Global Rollbackers intervention is not possible. If you have an issue with an action taken by a Global Rollbacker, please contact the Stewards.
