    Grobal rename[edit | edit source]

Where is person to be able to rename grobal? Noue Supernova (talk) 13:09, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What has to be globally renamed? Is it wiki site name?
    Imamy (talk) 20:47, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
My username. I Request Special:GlobalRenameRequest few days ago, not responce come. Noue Supernova (talk) 13:15, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Perhaps it just takes time. "After submitting a username change request Requests can take a few days to a week to process."
Is there a way for you to check whether your request is still open? Imamy (talk) 14:14, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes. Thanks. Noue Supernova (talk) 23:32, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
2 weeks have passed, but still no responce. Noue Supernova (talk) 06:15, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Miraheze is severely short-staffed right now so requests of all sorts will take longer than usual to process. Someone will get to it eventually. Pppery (talk) 22:55, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK, Thank you. Noue Supernova (talk) 11:53, 31 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
1 month have passed... Someone... Noue Supernova (talk) 16:20, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Please be patient; we currently only have 2 active Stewards, so everything apart from wiki requests is taking far longer than usual. Tali64³ (talk) 16:26, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    Sorry, I was impatient. Noue Supernova (talk) 05:49, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Finding a Wikibase item without a capital letter[edit | edit source]

Hi, is it possible to automatically search for a Wikibase item without capitalization to display it?

Because when I want to search for an item, I have to search for it with the capital letter...

    Astro5228 (talk) 19:43, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It might be related to this bug , which they said was fixed, but maybe it's not. You could try adding a comment there. Dimpizzy (talk) 11:31, 3 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Native Inline SVG Images?[edit | edit source]

Is there any solution to having a SVG image displayed as an inline native file/graphic? The NativeSvgHandler extension still uses the <image> tags, and so it is not actually displaying the SVG as an inline graphic.

I am hoping to find a way to do this so custom embedded mouseover events, JavaScript events, etc. are functional when the SVG file is called and displayed inline on a wiki page. — Mitchell Gore (talk) 02:49, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Infobox?[edit | edit source]

Hey, its me Bakhos, so im trying creating infobox in IShowSpeed Wiki. But its impossible to create infobox, so how can i create infobox? Bakhos (talk) 14:19, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Bakhos: I recommend that you use Wikipedia Infobox module. I can add it onto your wiki for you; and include an example infobox to show how to use. - PercyUK (talk) 14:41, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@PercyUK: oh ok, if you want add it, here's my wiki: https://ishowspeed.miraheze.org/ Bakhos (talk) 15:03, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Or - don't use Wikipedia modules and go w/ easier method, PortableInfobox. I'm currently writing a guide on infoboxes, it's not fully finished yet, but the most important parts are already here. If you still have questions, we can sort it out. Legroom (talk) 17:07, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There's also Miraheze Developers Wiki, an attempt I made to genericize and simplify Wikipedia's infoboxes and other templates. It's still very incomplete, but if you want a specific template added there I am willing to take requests. Pppery (talk) 02:25, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Pppery: So, it looks like wikipedia infobox, right? then you change infobox in 1, 2, and 3. Bakhos (talk) 05:16, 2 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry, I don't understand what you are asking for. That infobox already looks like Wikipedia's version. Pppery (talk) 16:25, 2 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Pppery: Can we actually have a guide to PortableInfobox? Spencers (Hello) 18:15, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Someone else is welcome to write one, either here, on MediaWiki.org, or on DevWiki. It won't be me, because I have no experience with it. Pppery (talk) 18:26, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    @Pppery: Okay. Spencers (Hello) 18:38, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Legroom developed an mini-guide to infoboxes that includes some information on PortableInfobox. Jph2 (talk) 20:59, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Traduction[edit | edit source]

    Hi Zazoult,
If the translation is necessary, it would be best to provide the translation. However, the translation method will ultimately be determined by the reader's preference. For example:
    1. The browser may offer to translate
    2. The writer may create a page in his own language. Then the translations will be manually generated by other writers.
    3. The reader may use DeepL or some other translation tool to translate the page

    Wordmark problem[edit | edit source]

Today I set up my logo, wordmark and favicon. They're looking great, but my wordmark is a little small. I decided to forgo the suggestion on having a SVG logo because I couldn't find a way to convert it and have it not look like a monochrome mess (or a least a free one). Anyway, does anyone have a solution? My wiki's Pokémon Fan Game Wiki. Thanks in advance! UltraOwen (talk) 23:48, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Check out this site...
    --- Imamy (talk) 04:31, 18 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This is amazing! Love the colors! It's so cool how some of them are Xerneas's (the Pokémon in the logo) antler colors! But the real question I probably should have just asked in the first place is how big should a wordmark be (in pixels) in order to fit? Thanks again! UltraOwen (talk) 19:16, 18 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Pixel size will depend on where the wordmark image is used. The final image may have to be tweaked to produce the most legible font for that size.

    Hello?[edit | edit source]

My friend, his nickname is Социал-демократ. he has lost his account password, I am trying to help him in many ways. write to technical support, or whatever it is ._. Can you somehow return his password? you have like a database of Miraheze participants or what? help him please. Maybe I'm not even writing there at all, and the problem is probably petty. but try to do it somehow. Spanish Fan (talk) 15:28, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

And yes, I know it's stupid, but I use Google Translate because I don't know English very well. It would be strange if I wrote everything here in my native Russian. Spanish Fan (talk) 16:06, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If the user in question has a verified email address, they can click on "Forgot your password?" on the login page; if they don't, there's nothing they can do besides create a new account. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 16:07, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Miraheze will stop working?[edit | edit source]

I noticed that several Miraheze-hosted wikis moved to WikiTide because the Miraheze management announced that they were going to cease operations because they are no longer financially stable and their services can no longer be sustained.

So I ask if that is still true because I see in another article by Miraheze Meta that it says that they will continue their services because the community managed to help them in their time of crisis, because if it is going to cease to exist I would like to know for sure because I have a very young wiki on its servers. Alxira5 (talk) 21:26, 29 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Miraheze is not shutting down at the moment; several longtime volunteers have taken up the responsibility of continuing operations. Tali64³ (talk | contributions) 18:33, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Tali64³ thank you for the update. Is there an overview of what would be ways to help at this point or towards the transition? ZBlace (talk) 00:59, 9 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Miraheze is Not Shutting Down is probably the most accurate overview right now. Pppery (talk) 18:34, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Change database name[edit | edit source]

Hi, I want to change the URL of my wiki but not to a custom domain: if possible I want to change the database name itself (as I understand it currently, this will change the URL). Also, would it be possible for the current irl to redirect to this new URL? Thank you! This is specifically for qsmpwiki.miraheze.org, which I want to change to qsmp.miraheze.org Levlies889 (talk) 18:48, 3 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Wiki[edit | edit source]

Hello, we have set up a new Wiki, but the Google information panel does not appear from the data we enter, what could be the reason for this? Cagridayi (talk) 23:23, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@cargridayi what do you mean by "Google information panel" and "data"? Have you registered your wiki in Google's Search Console? Check this guide: User:NotAracham/WikiSEO - Improving Search Ranking. Legroom (talk) 12:03, 12 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

So, whatever happened to...[edit | edit source]

...Betaheze (Miraheze's testing ground, spun off from its parent wiki farm) and the @MirahezeStatus feed? The former apparently quietly went offline some weeks or months ago (at this writing, the home page is a blank-slate parker), while the latter has currently hit the reset button.

On a related note: I never expected Universal Omega (one of this service's trusted regulars up till this June) to just vanish into thin air, never to return, as far as MH is concerned. (I tend to leave my own accounts well alone as an archive; cf. my Redditing since June's API standoff.) As we already know, UO's moved on as founder of WikiTide/WikiForge, and several more volunteers resigned in recent months, but still... Routhwick (talk) 16:02, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How do I add a language to my wiki?[edit | edit source]

I would like to add my own constructed language to my wiki. (It is not necessary to add to all wikis.)

My language is not registered in ISO 639 and therefore cannot be used.

I want to use the Translate extension to create translations in my language, how do I set this up?

Mysterious errors administering <splats.miraheze.org> wiki.[edit | edit source]

For reasons too boring to explain unless absolutely necessary, I believe an incomplete transaction or some such is causing weird errors in my wiki. Can it be health-checked somehow? Can I as a bureaucrat do it, or do I need a steward? -Splat (talk) 19:27, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Unfortunately, you are going to have to be way more specific about what kind of problem(s) you are seeing. There is no real health check process that we can do other than making sure the site itself is available and that at some pages (chosen at random) load properly. See the page mw:How to report a bug for details on how to make an effective report (though don't report anything through phabricator.wikimedia.org, either reply here or open a ticket using our phabricator). In short, we need to know the exact steps to reproduce the problem, the expected behavior, and the actual behavior. If you are seeing an exception or error message, please be sure to copy the full error message -- Void Whispers 20:17, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Confirmation Code?[edit | edit source]

Hello~ I recently attempted to edit my Miraheze Login page from my phone. However, it kept prompting me to enter a "confirmation code" before it could save the changes. What confirmation code is it referring to?

    0jamajo (talk) 21:11, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

    Hi 0jamajo,
I'm guessing the confirmation code may be from the phone
Either that or you are not signed in and it wants Captcha
    --- Imamy (talk) 00:41, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for replying, Imamy! I was definitely logged in. However, what you said about Captcha made me consider that there might be something I'm not seeing on my screen. So I switched from the source editing to visual editing. And you were right — it wanted Captcha. Thanks for your insight! 0jamajo (talk) 01:09, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
