Request for adoption
Shortcut:
RfA

This page is for requesting to "adopt" (reopen) a wiki (if you are not a bureaucrat) that has been closed due to inactivity.

Pictogram voting info.svg Note: Only wikis that have been automatically closed due to inactivity can be adopted! If the wiki was manually closed, it cannot be adopted.

If you would additionally like advanced rights (administrator and/or bureaucrat), please start a local election.

If you are already a bureaucrat on the wiki simply, go to Special:ManageWiki/core (on your wiki) and uncheck the "closed" box to reopen your wiki. Wikis that are set to private cannot be adopted due to privacy reasons! You must be a registered user to adopt a wiki (or to post on this page).
Please remember to:

  • Talk in a calm and respectful manner
  • Give us details

For other global issues please see: Stewards' noticeboard

To add your request, click the "Add Request" button below and enter the details asked.

FatBurn0000, with apologies for the delayed response, but given that this wiki has only two or three pages, which propose to highlight "good" and "bad" qualities, none of which are cited reliably, this wiki was likely questionably approved, at best. Given the high potential for Content Policy issues, this would need a local wiki administration team that is not only active and fully familiar with all of our global policies, but also incredibly well versed in the subject matter of the wiki in question. By your own admission, you have no knowledge of the wiki and have no interest in maintaining it as a local bureaucrat/administrator, so the mere fact you just want to add a page or two is not sufficient to warrant reopening this wiki. Moreover, Dormancy Policy even prescribes that wikis may exist, so long as they have active editors willing to maintain them, and I believe to reopen the wiki, so you can make a few edits, would be upending the spirit, if not the letter, of Dormancy Policy. Accordingly, I'm marking this as X mark.svg not done, but should you later desire to learn more about the subject, you can request a wiki for wiki creators to review, provided you take care to define a clear purpose and scope for your wiki, and clearly describe (a) the type of content it will contain and (b) not run afoul of our global policies. Thanks. Dmehus (talk) 02:25, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Y.Sugawara, with apologies for the delay, Yes check.svg reopened the wiki per your request. If you require any rights below sysop or if you require any ManageWiki changes, you can request these at stewards' noticeboard from a Steward in absence of locally available administration. Should you require additional permissions, such as sysop or bureaucrat, please hold a local election, following these guidelines, then request a Steward to assess your election after at least five (5) to (7) calendar days have passed. Additionally, it's strongly recommended you request a local sitenotice advertising your election from a Steward. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 02:34, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Are you planning to actually contribute, or are you just making a request for the sake of owning something? Firestar464 (talk) 11:46, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nowodex With apologies for the delay, this looks to have been Yes check.svg locally reopened by CatalinMetro. Please reach out to them on their local user talk page to request any permissions you may require. If you do not receive a response after at least seven (7) calendar days, you may request Stewards create a local sitenotice for that request, which would then be treated as a prominently advertised local election. After a further five (5) to seven (7) calendar days, you may return to stewards' noticeboard to request a Steward assess any supportive or opposing comments and grant rights. Thanks. DanielTheSpongeBob&DisneyChannelFan2009 Given that this wiki only has one page, can you articulate a clearer reason for wanting to adopt this wiki? Given the nature of the content, I would personally rather see you request a new wiki, on a different subdomain, articulating a very clear purpose, scope, and topic(s) for your proposed wiki, making it clear the type of content your wiki would contain per Content Policy. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 01:58, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Marking this as X mark.svg not done per no response from the requestor. As noted above, please feel free to request a wiki articulating clearly the above. Dmehus (talk) 00:07, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Auxipox, with apologies for the delay, Yes check.svg reopened the wiki per your request. • Username: Anass (CentralAuth)
  • Are you a bureaucrat? (yes/no): No
  • Reason: I want to adopt this wiki as the current bureaucrat has been without editing or showing activity for a long time. I'd like to revive the Wiki to help everyone with a question about Detective Conan.

Anass (talk) 13:55, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Anass: Just for curiousity: why do you want to adopt a wiki with so few edits? Wouldn't it be easier to request a new wiki? --LilyLilyu - smile.svg talk and I will listen · Lilypond Wiki 19:24, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Although it has few edits/articles, the wiki already has an old positioning (improves in searches) and already has some articles ready. A new wiki has to request and wait to be accepted, and start all over again: page, etc. There are reasons for him to adopt an old wiki --YellowFrogger (Talk) 19:30, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At first I asked for a Detective Conan Wiki (here) and they told me there was already one and to check it out, but I saw that the current bureaucrat I was not active so I am applying for the position of bureaucrat on the wiki, I am waiting for an answer. Anass (talk) 18:59, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Anass Yes check.svg Reopened for you. Should you require any permissions below sysop, such as autopatrolled, confirmed, and/or rollbacker, you can request this from Stewards in lieu of locally available administrators at stewards' noticeboard. Otherwise, please contribute to the wiki, then request permissions locally on your wiki. After a week or two, you can request a Steward assess your election in lieu of locally available bureaucrats. It's also recommended you request a local sitenotice for your permissions request, which you again can request from Stewards to implement. Alternatively, if you require any ManageWiki changes, Stewards can be requested to effect this too. :) Dmehus (talk) 15:58, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reason: I was inactive for a while and now I am ready to get working back on this wiki the inactivity was due to IRL problems, so I want to claim back my wiki if you can please Lunar Spectrum (talk) 11:19, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lunar Spectrum, you are already the bureaucrat on oureurovisioneshwiki. You can go to the Special:ManageWiki/core of your wiki (link) and uncheck the closed option to reopen your wiki. Thanks! Magogre (talk) 11:40, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Magogre, thank for your reply. Please do note that the /core suffix is not needed to manage the core wiki functions on local wikis. This is only required when managing a wiki's core functions from Meta Wiki (because you have to add the wiki's database name following that). In other words, while it will still work, it is an unnecessary redundancy and extraneous text. Note that you can test this by going to Special:ManageWiki/blubabluba (note the /blubabluba suffix, which does not exist anywhere in the ManageWiki codebase). I've also let Agent Isai know of this, too. Hope that helps. Dmehus (talk) 23:20, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dmehus, oh. Thanks for the clarification. :) Magogre (talk) 09:55, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lunar Spectrum, as Magogre indicated above, you can go into Special:ManageWiki, untick 'closed' and/or 'inactive', enter a brief log summary, and then hit 'save' to reopen your wiki. Nevertheless, I've Yes check.svg reopened your wiki for you this time. Dmehus (talk) 23:15, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Raintwinkleworkouttie (talk) 07:21, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Raintwinkleworkouttie: Per your CentralAuth, you seem to be local bureaucrat of the wiki. As a bureaucrat, you yourself can reopen your wiki. To do so, go to Special:ManageWiki/core (direct link to your wiki) on your wiki and uncheck the "Closed" checkbox. If you need anything else, let us know. Agent Isai Talk to me! 08:22, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agent Isai Note that the user is not required to add the /core suffix. Special:ManageWiki will suffice. The /core suffix is really for ManageWiki interwiki changes that Stewards perform from time to time from Meta Wiki. Dmehus (talk) 16:13, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Raintwinkleworkouttie, Yes check.svg Done per your request. Though, as Agent Isai suggested above, you could've done this yourself, like you even did previously back in September 2020. Nevertheless, whether you had the technical means to do or so not does not preclude me from guiding you, by way of demonstration, on how to reopen your wiki. Should this occur again, just go to here, untick any 'closed' and/or 'inactive' boxes, enter a brief log summary, and hit 'save'. Thanks. :) Dmehus (talk) 16:09, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Are you a bureaucrat? (yes/no): no
  • Reason: So the first thing is that I am a huge CountryHumans fan, I have been in the fandom for 3 years, so I know a lot about CountryHumans. Second, the creators/creators of the wiki for some reason made it private, which is why no one could read the wiki, edit and create new pages on the wiki, and I really want to get this wiki done. Please!

ZoomBoom Artist (talk) 13:59, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@ZoomBoom Artist: I'm not a steward or anything, but I'm fairly confident you can't adopt private wikis unless you're a member. You should probably ask a bureaucrat to give you member rights. FatBurn0000 (talk) 23:27, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the wiki was closed without community consent and for the intention of making it impossible to adopt, I suggest making a case on the Stewards' noticeboard. Otherwise this is indeed not possible to do in accordance with policy. I've marked it not done as a user, since the wiki being set to private places it outside the process of this page. --Raidarr (talk) 22:35, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
ZoomBoom Artist Having reviewed the wiki, I can confirm that this wiki was normally closed in accordance with Dormancy Policy. Only its original requestor, MrBendy777, has local read permissions on the wiki, and there have been no log entries to the wiki's user rights log. The wiki was last edited 13 September 2021 so should be deleted around that time in March 2022. Unless you are the alternate account of MrBendy777, in which case, you will need to sign in to MrBendy777 to confirm this, you will, unfortunately, need to choose a new subdomain. Onakin (talk) 11:20, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Onakin, thank you for your request to have this wiki reopened. While it looks to have closed automatically according to Dormancy Policy, I am familiar with this wiki, as it serves as a sort of central coordination wiki for a group of Japanese language wikis. As your account was only created a little over 24 hours ago, you are not a pre-existing contributor to this wiki's community, so I'm curious as to why you're wanting to have it reopened, given its limited purpose and scope outside of the group of Japanese language wikis? Have you used any prior Miraheze accounts and, if so, are you able to login from that account and reply here confirming the same? This would help me tremendously for the purposes of assessing your request. Thank you. Dmehus (talk) 23:48, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dmehus, thank you for your reply. I want to restart this wiki because I want to develop it project. This project does various things from Japanese dictionaries to railway encyclopedias. I like it, but this wiki that summarizes them has stopped. I was just a visitor, but I created an account to restart this wiki. This is the answer to your question. Thank you. It's hard to take what you do now seriously, even though the wiki is closed. You gave a steward a practically bizarre wiki motif and teased him, unnecessarily, asking for help on the wiki creators talk pages with the same argument. Please make sure you don't do this again with volunteers because the project is serious. --YellowFrogger (Talk) 03:55, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reason: I think the only reason this wiki hasn't been automatically closed is my request for edit access via one of the sysops' talk pages. The recent changes log indicates the existing sysops don't seem to be interested in continuing to update it, but I'd like to take on editing it, and have a few friends who would likely also be interested in contributing. There's a lot of good info on here, but it is missing up-to-date information on things like non-binary surgical options (which I've had done).

RyanC (talk) 10:42, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@RyanC: Hello! I am dross, a Miraheze volunteer. Unfortunately, your request here cannot be completed, as adoption is not the process for requesting permissions on an inactive wiki. The wiki is not currently closed, and should not automatically close for approximately 20 more days. You may edit the wiki freely. If you would like local permissions like administrator or bureaucrat, you will need to post an on-wiki request seeking community input, then report the results to stewards at Stewards' Noticeboard. Good luck, and happy editing! dross (tcg) 02:49, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
