This page is for requesting permissions that can be granted on this wiki.

  • For rights that don't add advanced permissions (like autopatrolled and confirmed) please just leave a note on Meta:Administrators' noticeboard.
  • For rights on another wiki, please take up the matter with the local community.

Here you can leave requests for the following permissions. The community will discuss your request and then a bureaucrat or Steward will close the request, granting rights upon closure of successful requests.

Notes:

  • In most cases, Rights may only be granted after a request lasted for at least 7 days, and no less than 70% of the votes (only support and oppose are votes) are support votes. Some permissions have their own criteria.
  • Although anonymous users may express their opinions, logging out to leave additional comments or otherwise abusing multiple accounts (including IP addresses), is not allowed.
  • CheckUser and Oversight rights will not be granted except under exceptional circumstances. Please leave a note on the Stewards' noticeboard if you would like more information.
  • Remember to update Meta:RecentChanges/Requests with a link to your request.

HeyTürkiye (Wiki creator) (2)Edit

HeyTürkiye (talk • contribs • page moves • block log • CA • rights log • global rights log • abuselog • farmer log • block)
Group: Wiki creator
Reason: Wiki requests can accumulate throughout our private lives. I want to serve the miraheze community without waiting for wiki requests. I actively provide roles in communities and wikis, even if my editing is minimal, I think I will remove this responsibility. Appreciation in our community. Hey Türkiye message? 09:04, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: My apologies to the Meta community for unwillingly closing this application, just because I put "partially retired" on my user page does not mean that I will be permanently inactive. I am opening my application again by wanting to inform the users, I would like to underline that if you have any questions, I will gladly answer them. Hey Türkiye message? 16:34, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for candidateEdit

  • Public wiki named "Bad Celebrities Wiki" - Description "A wiki that discusses bad celebrities."
Response I would like him to explain in detail the purpose of the wiki, the subject and scope of the wiki, as the explanation is very inadequate. Hey Türkiye message? 09:26, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is partially correct. This would be declined for violation of the Content Policy, specifically this line:
Miraheze does not host wikis with the sole purpose to spread unsubstantiated insult, hate or rumours against a person or group of people
ZeusDeeGoose (talk) 12:45, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ZeusDeeGoose I partially agree with your correctness, as the English language is a language that takes some courage to understand. Hey Türkiye message? 12:49, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Private wiki named "Super Happy Tree Wiki" - Description "I want to make a wiki for me and my friends"
Response Creating wikis with friends is wrong. Miraheze's purpose is to host information on the wiki farm. Since Miraheze is not a forum-style wiki, I would most likely reject it. Hey Türkiye message? 09:26, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is incorrect, Miraheze often approves personal and core friend group projects although the description as to what it entails is lacking and it would be reasonable to ask for more. The 'forum style' and social focus prohibition is Fandom's stipulation, not Miraheze. But as long as the discussion material is compliant (you'll notice Content Policy doesn't even touch on this subject anyway), even a wiki with a social focus should be fine. --Raidarr (talk) 12:14, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Response I think personal wikis will be a huge burden for Miraheze, our goal is for everyone to have at least 1 wiki here. Thanks for your response Hey Türkiye message? 12:33, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Public wiki named "The Legendary Witch Wiki" - Description "Recently, due to Fandom's policy changes, I would like to move my wiki here. This wiki will discuss legendary witches."
Response It's nice that he moved his wiki from Fandom to Miraheze, but I would say that the scope of the wiki is insufficient, I would refuse. Hey Türkiye message? 09:26, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What would make this scope sufficient at a minimum, and how would it help your assessment of the wiki following Content Policy properly or not? --Raidarr (talk) 12:15, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What makes Scope sufficient is what the Wiki contains, for example the purpose of the X wiki is to create Brawl stars articles. But if that X article goes out of its purpose, then it is not possible to approve that wiki in my opinion dear @Raidarr, best regards Hey Türkiye message? 12:54, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Public wiki named "Tropes Wiki" - Description "A wiki for all tropes in media. Tropes Wiki will cover tropes in several pieces of media, which is included but not limited to games, films, literature, and TV shows."
Response The scope of this wiki is sufficient. I would approve of his wiki, provided it complies with its content policy. Hey Türkiye message? 09:26, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is somewhat tricky and you are not expected to know all wikis on the platform, but it would be highly beneficial to know what wikis are present and at least at the top of platform traffic. In this case AllTheTropes is a very large wiki for the platform covering everything described and so would be considered a fork and at least a direct competitor, which is a problem. For this reason it cannot be accepted and the user should be directed to the wiki doing exactly what they describe. --Raidarr (talk) 12:17, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Response I couldn't find anything to answer right now :/, @Raidarr is there anything else you want to ask? Hey Türkiye message? 12:58, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Public wiki named "Humor Wiki" - Description "A wiki for jokes. It will describe every singe joke in detail and their punchlines, alongside comedians. It will also cover comedy films and books as well."
Response The scope of this wiki is sufficient. I would approve of his wiki, provided it complies with its content policy. Hey Türkiye message? 09:26, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DiscussionEdit

Other users feel free to support/oppose/abstain from this RfP but please state your reasoning below.

SupportEdit

  1.   Support Per raidarr. I strongly suggest undergoing a mentorship-type program with an existing wiki creator, or even a prior one; of course, if willing to help.-- Bukkit[cetacean needed] 15:47, 2 October 2022 (UTC)   Support vote striked to support. The user is generally trusted, and the questions had most answers correct. I trust that the user can learn from the environment, I still say, hey, you should try a mentorship-type program, but as long as you can correctly approve/decline wiki requests, it's a +1 from me. -- Bukkit[cetacean needed] 20:11, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
my goal is to help everyone anyway @Bukkit, I made this application to speed up the work of wiki creators, thanks for your vote. Hey Türkiye message? 16:09, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Switched to support, I personally think you'd do well as long as you give some practice and confer with your peers. -- Bukkit[cetacean needed] 20:16, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Response Have no doubt that I will ask questions when I do a transaction with peers @Bukkit, I wish you a pleasant day. Thank you again for changing your vote and voting. These comments inspire me. Kind regards, Hey Türkiye message? 20:30, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  2.   Weak support User answered most questions to my satisfaction. The Goose Named Zeus (talk|contribs|accounts|uploads|email) 16:43, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Response @ZeusDeeGoose Thank you for your vote, I'm happy if my comments and answers satisfied you :) I wish you a pleasant day. Yours truly Hey Türkiye message? 20:27, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    No problem. ZeusDeeGoose (talk) 20:39, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  3.   Support Active user and I believe the user can help in this role. AlPaD (talk) 19:36, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @AlPaD for voting, seeing these trusts gives me courage. I wish you a pleasant evening (If You Use UTC time) Hey Türkiye message? 20:25, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AbstainEdit

  1.   Abstain This candidate's strength is probably being multilingual, I think it might help to know what the other languages are. That said, native English understanding does not strike me as this candidate's strong suit, which could result in communication issues since all core volunteers and most requests are English based. More difficultly, this candidate has little operational experience or background understanding with the allowances and stipulations of requests. It would be helpful to work with an active wiki creator/core volunteer to develop this understanding since understanding 'the lay of the land' is critical along with good judgement based on the Content Policy. I abstain, but the issues mean I could not support at this time if pushed to a clear vote. --Raidarr (talk) 12:21, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Raidarr Thank you raidarr for your abstention, glad to hear that from an experienced steward. I can say that my mother tongue is not English, but Turkish. Of course, this experience is a bit too necessary for the wiki creator, I'm aware of that. but it still helps me if you tell me your thoughts. Kind regards Hey Türkiye message? 12:26, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah no prob, and I think with time you could get the necessary background. Not being correct initially is not a breaker, it's largely about attitude and growth. Turkish is unfortunately a very limited use language here (I think I've seen no more than two in my time) but having that and growing your English can still result in strength. I'd give similar advice to Buel who I missed above, and for anyone else with similar circumstances thinking about it. You can get a lot just from watching the request queue when processed (right now the key people aren't at their best unfortunately), and noting the exceptions, scruples and sometimes inconsistency that happens. And of course, you can get more information from someone experienced. Dmehus used to offer some guides for best practices that are in extension of or cover holes with Content Policy in making decisions. --Raidarr (talk) 12:32, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Raidarr I guess now I realize that you were like me in the past. Dmehus was like me, he knew nothing. but he improved himself by taking notes. Thank you again for your words raidarr, I will continue to improve myself whether this application is negative or positive. Kind regards Hey Türkiye message? 12:42, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OpposeEdit

  1.   Abstain Temporarily until finding more information. On the surface user looks trustworthy and competent. Thanks - BrandonWM (talkcontribsglobalrights) 00:51, 3 October 2022 (UTC)   Weak oppose Simply put, the user only has 108 edits on Meta, 20 of which have come from this RfP alone. Most activity is only on the user's own wikis, and while that is amazing and I am in full support of their endeavors, I don't see a full understanding of Meta conventions and policies. I'd recommend being more active on Meta, and revisit this in a month or two, I'm sure you will receive a lot more support then. Other than that, I have absolutely no opposition to any other statistics, 12 months since account creation, 3,000 global edits, it all looks good. Just more activity on Meta. Thanks - BrandonWM (talkcontribsglobalrights) 23:25, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Response @BrandonWM Thank you for voting, I serve you my cause and I will continue to do so, Miraheze for one, all for one! Kind regards, Hey Türkiye message? 04:55, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  2.   Oppose I just think it is too early. --小美粉粉 (T - C - S) 1004065811 bytes of data NOTE: Do not {{ping}} me! 01:03, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@小美粉粉 Special thanks for your vote, I know it's too late for me to apply but my goal here is to collaborate with the wiki creator and ease their work. If you have any questions, I will gladly answer you :) Best regards, Hey Türkiye message? 04:44, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Group: Wiki creator
Reason: LisafBia is one of the most trusted and respectful Users. He is a user who loves to patrol and work on the Turkish Wikipedia. I believe that you can easily finish and do wiki requests. I hope he accepts my candidacy. Hey Türkiye message? 17:20, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
  I accept the request. --LisafBia (talk) 16:36, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for candidateEdit

Hello, @LisafBia I hope you have accepted the nomination, if you have accepted the nomination please answer the following questions;

  • Public wiki named "Bad Celebrities Wiki" - Description "A wiki that discusses bad celebrities."
I would deny this request, because the wiki's content violates the Content Policy.
  • Private wiki named "Super Happy Tree Wiki" - Description "I want to make a wiki for me and my friends"
If the content of the wiki is not specified, I will reject the request and ask what the content is.
  • Public wiki named "The Legendary Witch Wiki" - Description "Recently, due to Fandom's policy changes, I would like to move my wiki here. This wiki will discuss legendary witches."
  • Public wiki named "Tropes Wiki" - Description "A wiki for all tropes in media. Tropes Wiki will cover tropes in several pieces of media, which is included but not limited to games, films, literature, and TV shows."
  • Public wiki named "Humor Wiki" - Description "A wiki for jokes. It will describe every singe joke in detail and their punchlines, alongside comedians. It will also cover comedy films and books as well."

DiscussionEdit

Other users feel free to support/oppose/abstain from this RfP but please state your reasoning below.

  1.   Strongest support he is a trusted user. I realize that he will successfully fulfill his mission, first support to him :) Hey Türkiye message? 17:20, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  2.   Weak oppose Before less than two weeks ago the candidate for this position was not seen on Meta since July. That is for me a concerning sign considering that it is of utmost importance that wiki creators are regularly active in order to resolve wiki requests as quick as possible. There is not very much sense in a wiki creator who is only around sporadically - it must be someone who can check Meta regularly. It is understandable that there is not much activity that one can have on Meta due to its inherent nature but I would still prefer to observe more regular contributions. If answers to questions posed above prove to be very good and thought out I may consider changing my vote to a weak support as long as the candidate promises they will be regularly active in the future. Otherwise if the answers are not very good I am unable to support this at the time. --DeeM28 (talk) 07:20, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  3.   Oppose Since not all the questions have been answered and concerns around the activity levels of the candidate, opposing for now. But like DeeM28 above, if a commitment to being active is given, and the questions answered to satisfaction, I will consider reversing this vote to a support. Universal Omega (talk) 08:04, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  4.   Abstain for now. The candidate has not answered all the questions. Also, per above, there hasn't been a lot of activity as of recently on Meta. --Zeus (talk|contribs|accounts|email) 19:20, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Universal Omega (Administrator)Edit

Universal Omega (talk • contribs • page moves • block log • CA • rights log • global rights log • abuselog • farmer log • block)
Group: Administrator
Reason: Hello, I am making this request for Meta Administrator because over the last few months we have lost numerous Meta Administrators to resignations. I have decided to request Meta Administrator to further my involvement in the Meta community, and to remain more active within the community. Recently, I have been active as a global rollbacker, monitoring the CVT feeds, and even creating a new IRC bot to further assist in CVT monitoring. I have also recently had more time on my hands to commit to the community. Miraheze has been lacking volunteers and this has not been improving much lately, while we do have more wiki creator request as of late, we have a lack of volunteers in most other areas. Over the past year Meta Administrators have been resigning. This included Southparkfan, NDKilla, Dmehus, and RhinosF1. Currently most of the other remaining Meta Administrators only seem to be active a couple times a month (if even that). Only about two or maybe three Meta Administrators are reliably around and active. I can't say I would be around as much as the most active Meta Administrators, but I would be available most of the time, and likely be around more than the majority of current Meta Administrators. Thank you! Universal Omega (talk) 02:01, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

DiscussionEdit

Other users feel free to support/oppose/abstain from this RfP but please state your reasoning below.

  1.   Support A relatively active user, kind, and overall helpful. This user has all the qualities that I find good in an administrator. Given the current lack of sysops and good rationale, I can support this request. -- Bukkit[cetacean needed] 05:45, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  2.   Support The Goose Named Zeus (talk|contribs|accounts|uploads|email) 13:34, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  3. I have no problems. I thought you were a global sysop. Please be sensible and don't have the talk page problem etc. And be nice to people. Naleksuh (talk) 16:03, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  4.   Support LovingHaydeL (talk to me uwu!) 9:44, 5 October 2022 (PST)
  5.   Support per above. by Buel ·Talk·Wikimail 03:00, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  6.   Support As with my vote for Global Rollbacker looking at Universal Omega's contributions I do not have any concerns that they would be able to fill this role. As far as I am aware they have not had any real conflicts with other users and are a fair person. Since indeed we have lost some previous administrators it is sensible to have a new person fill the role. --DeeM28 (talk) 07:16, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  7.   Strongest support I support Omega on the condition that he does not abuse his authority and treats people kindly, I hope to see your steward candidate as well.. Hey Türkiye message? 16:38, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
