My avatar doesn't show up whenever I write a comment?[edit | edit source]

Everyone else's does, though. This must be a bug or something.

I know I tried deleting my avatar and reuploading/changing it again, but it's still blank in the comments.

I hope there is one way to fix it. One way or another...

Cannot create new page from search[edit | edit source]

Normally to create a MediaWiki page, you can simply search for the article in your search box. If the page is not found, MediaWiki will prompt you to create the page. However, on my wiki, I am not prompted to create a new page. I can create a new page if I create a link of a word that does not have a page, but I don't get the link to create a new page from searching a page that does not exist. Is there any feature that must be enabled? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arrobarriba (talkcontribs)

How to transclude one wiki in another?[edit | edit source]

I have a Miraheze wiki about synth DIY but I want it to include something about electronic theory. That subject is of wider interest than to just synth DIY. So if I have another Miraheze wiki solely about elementary electronic theory, how can I get the pages of that wiki to be included in the synth DIY and/or other wikis, (except perhaps for Main Page)? --Rob Kam (talk) 11:01, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

You can have the wiki which you want to include on other wikis added to the interwiki list with the interwiki transclusion option enabled. This will require that the setting Enable scary transclusion (under Special:ManageWiki/settings) is enabled, and that the new interwiki prefix has transclusion enabled. -- Void Whispers 17:59, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
How to specify in the source wiki which section(s) of the transcluded page display and which are excluded in the wiki(s) linking to it? --Rob Kam (talk) 09:53, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
I believe it should work the same way as standard controls, such as the tags <noinclude></noinclude> and <onlyinclude></onlyinclude>. -- Void Whispers 17:36, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, this seems to work. Next problem is how to be able to insert some other text into a transcluded page, if it's even possible? --Rob Kam (talk) 22:58, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Community Directors[edit | edit source]

I have now closed Community Directors/Election Commission/2019 Election/Vote with a no consensus for any candidate as not enough people voted. Despite 20 users casting votes, they did not all vote for a candidate so more users would have been needed for any single candidate to pass. I'd like to open a thread to determine what the community would like to do next.

Please consider the below options. This is not a formal RfC but will precede one. Dependant on responses, I will book a Miraheze Meetings slot on 21st January to discuss this as well.

  • Should the community lower or remove the minimum number of voters requirement?
  • Is the community in a position to elect Directors at this time?
  • Is an election commission needed?
  • Should voting limits be changed for Directors as well?
  • What about other advanced roles?

Thanks, ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     offline) 16:38, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

I would definitely disagree with removing a minimum number for both directors and commissioners, as we must guarantee that many members of the community agree with the proposals. The problem is rather users being informed and understanding the purpose of the role I'd say. Reception123 (talk) (C) 18:00, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
I agree that lowering the numbers would not be ideal. I think we need to work to bring more of the community to meta and possibly look at delaying the Community Directors elections for a period of time. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     offline) 18:20, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
I have to argue that, at least for the first year, the Miraheze community is not in a condition to vote for directors. As it appears, a lot of this information has just been sprung on several people, who do not fully understand what it means for Miraheze to be owned by an independently acting corporation. For the sake of smooth establishment of Miraheze Ltd. and to give time for the community to adjust to these changes, I would support holding off on any sort of election outside of the typical Miraheze everyday functions (e.g. stewards, dev, RfXs, and the like). dross (tcg) 01:49, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
I second this. The announcements were circulated, but I doubt most users—especially those new to Miraheze and already busy trying to set up their new wikis—would have the time nor the expertise needed to make informed decisions to vote. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 22:02, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Motion to delay elections, 1 year[edit | edit source]

“The Miraheze Community thank the Board of Miraheze Limited for their invitation to nominate users for 3 seats on the Miraheze Board. Following an attempt to partake in this, The Community has opted to decline the invitation for at least 12 months.”

  • In accordance with the Community Directors policy, the standard procedure for voting and definitions applies to this.

Neutral[edit | edit source]

Oppose[edit | edit source]

Oppose From my point of view we should announce the winners and be done with this. We don't have to go a whole year without new Community Directors. I don't think it counts that the minimum votes didn't get in before the deadline, three of them still won because they got over 60% support in their favor. WickyHoney (talk) 19:34, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

@WickyHoney: That's not what we voted into policy. The rules for the elections set a minimum number of voters. That was not met. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     offline) 19:36, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
@RhinosF1: For one thing it wasn't public enough, and I am sure that the minimum votes would have gone in if it was. I don't want to waste an opportunity such as this just because enough people didn't vote. I wanted to vote, but I wasn't eligible, so there was also that. Just because someone's account is new doesn't mean they can't understand who they should vote for, but I understand why that rule is there; to prevent inexperienced users from doing something hasty, and to prevent sockpuppets from voting. However, it still is kind of unfair that someone's account was to be old enough to vote when the person typing is experienced enough. I still stand that three promotions should be made sooner that later, because from my point of view three won and one lost. The deadline was also too short. WickyHoney (talk) 19:48, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
It was open for the maximum period allowed and advertised across IRC, Discord and wikis via various methods. If you want to adjust policy, open an RfC to change it and ask that the rules are changed in that then open a vote to restart elections. 3 did NOT win under policy unfortunately. These were also only commissioners for the election and I am not aware of anyone who is willing to stand for Director. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     offline) 19:52, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
I never said I wanted to change the rules, I was just expressing my opinion. I didn't know it was advertised like that, so I apologize for thinking it wasn't. I still think that Dross lost because they got abstained the most, and that everyone else won because they got the higher support. One problem may be that people on here are just not into politics. I was though, and I guess I just don't like that a satisfying result did not come out of the election. What exactly do you mean by delaying the election anyway? That still confuses me. I am sorry if I sounded rude earlier. WickyHoney (talk) 20:09, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
I concur with Rhinos. Rule of Law says we agree on the card game before we look at our own cards! Wicky, it may seem fine to you to just invent an outcome. Might seem fine to me too if I were a candidate and didn't get a majority but did pretty well compared to the others. Point is, if we don't hold to the announced rules, things could get subjective and contentious. Your point is valid that, despite good announcement and ample time, response was anemic. (I for one am "just not into politics.") The proper response is to amend the rules to better match Miraheze reality, and conduct another vote, perhaps without waiting 1 year. Spıke (talk)02:26 25-Jan-2020
@WickyHonkey: We’ll simply have the election close to a year after this vote closes rather than restarting the process until we get somewhere (probably with an RfC) or cancelling it altogether. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     offline) 04:45, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

My account was being renamed but it stopped getting upgraded 3/4 of the way[edit | edit source]

I renamed myself from AnimalLovingGuy to ScrewSociety, but since it updated my name on each wiki in alphabetical order by the wiki's name, it stopped at Reception Flame Wars Wiki because the wiki closed down. As a result I lost access to my account a few days ago, and I really want to get it back. Can you please help me?

@ScrewSociety: I apologize for this issue, I have fixed it and you should now have access to the account. Reception123 (talk) (C) 08:26, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

How can I become an autoconfirmed user?[edit | edit source]

(this was copied and pasted) I made an account on Miraheze a year ago. On Atrocious Youtubers Wiki, I am still not an autoconfirmed user and it pisses me off. It says I need 10 edits yet I'm not allowed to edit anything on that wiki. Can someone please help me?

Edit: I contacted an admin. Hopefully I'm granted the abilities to edit. User:SaltylakeXD

@SaltylakeXD: Autoconfirmed status is up to each wiki to decide, not anything global. You should contact the administrators or bureaucrats there to request to edit. Reception123 (talk) (C) 08:23, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

"Exception" error[edit | edit source]

Hello, and thank you again for your beautiful work!

My wiki is working well, but I have a problem when a new user has to set a new password at first access. The password input works, but after that I see a page which says (italian version):

Errore interno [6ed00020e037182f9468e092] 2020-01-16 10:55:53: Errore irreversibile di tipo "Exception"

Is it possible to fix it? (the best thing should be redirecting the user to a news page, like "Your account is ready, welcome and begin navigatioN"...

How do I change the style of mobile Infoboxes to that of Wikipedia?[edit | edit source]

Hey there, so I’m trying to format my infoboxes on the mobile site of my wiki to look exactly like Wikipedia’s mobile infoboxes. Does anyone know how that is possible? Let me know please, thank you! RuffianLewis (talk) 14:46, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello and welcome! Sec. 4.4 of our FAQ may be helpful. Spıke (talk)22:00 16-Jan-2020

I did try that, however it looks different. Is it theme-related possibly? What am I missing? Could I maybe have the mobile theme on my wiki changed? Also, I can provide the link to Infobox my wiki as well as a link to the Wikipedia infobox - the difference is noticeable. RuffianLewis (talk) 07:39, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Request for interwiki of simpleelectronics[edit | edit source]

Please add an interwiki link for simpleelectronics wiki. The interwiki is simpleelectronics and the URL is$1 --Rob Kam (talk) 18:09, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

@Rob Kam: What wiki? Hispano76 (talk) 20:46, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
@Hispano76: --Rob Kam (talk) 21:18, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
Why do you need an Interwiki from Simple Electronics to Simple Electronics? If you mean globally, use [[mh:simpleelectronics:$1]] ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     offline) 21:28, 18 January 2020 (UTC) is a wiki being written to be transcluded by other wikis, Synth DIY Wiki to begin with. --Rob Kam (talk) 21:44, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
@Hispano76: Global please (but at first it'll only be in use on scruffywiki and sdiywiki). --Rob Kam (talk) 18:28, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
I don't have the permission to add it in the global interwiki, I can only modify the local interwikis. @Rob Kam: Hispano76 (talk) 20:09, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

NewUserMessage Signature[edit | edit source]

I recently added the NewUserMessage extension to my wiki. Unfortunately, it always includes a signature below the template, like so:

-- New user message (talk) 00:00, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

I think it looks unappealing and unnecessary. I've tried leaving MediaWiki:Newusermessage-signatures blank, but the signature appears anyway. How do I get rid of it? Gfdgsgxgzgdrc (talk) 23:00, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

Does anyone have any suggestions? Gfdgsgxgzgdrc (talk) 05:13, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
@Gfdgsgxgzgdrc: I've done my best to fix the issue, and this is the final result. Although it looks fine, I have to tell you that you still need to close the div tag manually, and that you cannot remove the timestamp no matter what (meaning adding div tag in your signature will result in timestamp written out of the box).--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 07:50, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks so much for all your help! I really appreciate it.
But now I have a different problem. When I try to log in to my wiki, I get an error saying "The supplied credentials could not be authenticated". When I try "Forgot your password?", it says "The password reset was not handled. Maybe no provider was configured?". Oddly, I can log in here, but I keep getting logged out every few minutes. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc (talk) 06:06, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
Hmm, I guess I need to fix that problem. Say, I'll revert MediaWiki:Newusermessage-editor, and you can create an account that is only used for the purpose. Then, set its signature to whatever you want, and add its name to the page. That should fix the issue.--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 09:06, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

Please help to undo some text weirdness on template wiki[edit | edit source]

@Reception123:@Ahmsaqib:Moved from Stewards' noticeboard#Please_help_to_fix_Recent_changes_page_on_template_wiki.

Somehow templatewiki has a navbar defacing Recent changes and maybe other pages. I can't figure out how to remove it. Please could a steward fix this. --Rob Kam (talk) 15:28, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

@Rob Kam: I can't seem to reproduce this issue. Could you please either provide a screenshot or tell us what browser (and version) you are using? Also for future reference please note that Stewards do not deal with such technical issues so Community noticeboard would be a better place for this type of request in the future. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:48, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. Okay, next time I will ask at Community noticeboard. Here'a a capture
Template wiki recent changes navbox.png
--Rob Kam (talk) 16:12, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
It's some setting @Ahmsaqib: changed. At the time I asked him to undo it but I don't think he knew how. --Rob Kam (talk) 23:21, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
@Rob Kam: Yes. It was me. But problem is, first time when I edited this page, there was no interface admin program on any wiki. But NOW (and obviously when i tried to edit second time) this is here. So that, nobody can't be able to change special pages (like Mediawiki or css) without Interface Admin, Bureaucrat or Steward right. If you want to change those pages later, you should request for interface adminship. Thanks! আ হ ম সাকিব (T) (C) 23:43, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation @Ahmsaqib:. So that one of the stewards can fix it for us; what exactly in Mediawiki, css or js needs changing to undo the navbar from appearing on Special:RecentChanges please? --Rob Kam (talk) 08:05, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Also needs fixing that when I edit my sandbox I get a message "Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted. Encyclopedic content must be verifiable. Work submitted to Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed—by anyone—subject to certain terms and conditions." and a couple of redlinks "Group notice" and "Page notice". How do I get rid of this?

See MediaWiki:Recentchangestext, MediaWiki:Editpage-head-copy-warn and MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning (and subpages) @Rob Kam: Hispano76 (talk) 22:02, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, via Special:AllMessages I've fixed Special:RecentChanges but haven't yet managed to find how the redlinks "Group notice" and "Page notice" get inserted - they're on any page that gets edited. @Hispano76: --Rob Kam (talk) 23:36, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
I can't reproduce what you see. Anyway, the only thing that mentions "group notice" is the template Editnotice load @Rob Kam: Hispano76 (talk) 00:42, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
It's there with the source editor but not there with the visual editor. --Rob Kam (talk) 09:18, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Help needed trying to get transcluded templates to function.[edit | edit source]

If for example say on modularwiki I do {{raw:templatewiki:Cite book}}, I get Script error: No such module "citation/CS1". because instead of including it with the transclusion, it's looking for the module on modularwiki. So then I try to also separately transclude the module with {{raw:templatewiki:Module:Citation/CS1}} I get Error: Lua error at line 1: unexpected symbol near '{'. I could import all the Lua modules that get errored about into modularwiki as required, but when importing there's an option "Include templates" which kind of defeats the point of transcluding templates.

How do I get templates that use Lua modules to transclude from templatewiki to other wikis!? --Rob Kam (talk) 13:50, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

What setting or extension made my link displays as its redirect target?[edit | edit source]

In, if I add a link to a redirect page, then it displays as its redirect target page name. For example, in, "Template:Documentation" will redirect to "Template:文档", then if I merely input "[[Template:Documentation]]", it will display as its redirect target "Template:文档". See my sandbox. How to fix it? --SolidBlock (talk) 08:38, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

I don't understand, you're the one who made the redirection It would only be to change the link or remove it. @SolidBlock:. Hispano76 (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
The redirection is not incorrect. What's incorrect is how the link displays. The link should have displayed as itself regardless of the redirection. --SolidBlock (talk) 01:27, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
It causes it mw:Extension:Display_Title ostensibly @SolidBlock: Hispano76 (talk) 01:37, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. I uninstalled the ext and the link is normal now. --SolidBlock (talk) 01:55, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Could you remove this wiki from my global account info?[edit | edit source]

I'm looking to remove a wiki called from my Global Account Info so that when I rename my account, the script wouldn't get stuck there. Could you remove it?

Thank u, next, Eiji (talk) 20:02, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

We can’t remove individual accounts. We do this when the wiki is removed from the databases fully but it’s not technically feasible before. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     offline) 20:04, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
