I have uploaded a image which I want to use as thje logo of my wiki:MX Linux Users DE but there is only a part presented. The whole logo you can see on Peter Littmann.

What are the options? Who can shrink the presentation? Should I upload it in a special format? --Peter Littmann (talk) 19:15, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

I wish to get the Interaction section like on wikipedia, please.

On the wikipedia there is is on the left side a section named Interaction:

  • Help
  • About Wikipedia
  • Community Portal
  • Recent Ceanges
  • Contact page

How can I get a section like this on my wiki, too? --Peter Littmann (talk) 21:11, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

Peter Littmann with Mediawiki:Sidebar on Wikipedia Ucronistaw (talk) 21:23, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
But you might know that I host my wiki not at Wikipedia. So the question is: How can I implement this in my wiki here? --Peter Littmann (talk) 22:58, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
You can add a custom MediaWiki:Sidebar on your wiki. the format will be **link URL|title.--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 23:16, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
But how? Is it under tools? special pages? administration? --Peter Littmann (talk) 23:32, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

How to automatically underline links?

On wikipedia when I set a link it is underlined automatically. Here I have to use <u> and </u>. Is there a way to better this? --Peter Littmann (talk) 23:06, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

You can add a custom css for links on your user common.css and/or MediaWiki:common.css on your wiki. it should probably be like a { text-decoration:underline; }--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 23:14, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
I have selected the CSS extension now, too. But where should I place these files?
Provided you create CSS files with the names shown above, they will take effect automatically. By the way, there is also CSS code you can use if you want them to appear differently while the pointer is hovering over them (a:hover). Spıke (talk)00:25 12-May-2019
Also, it is a very good idea not to try to underline every a ("anchor") that you include on the page, but instead specify the CSS ("cascading style sheet"). "Style" includes your decision that links should be underlined. If you change this decision, the CSS is the only thing you have to edit. Every page of your wiki will obey this decision. Spıke (talk)03:42 12-May-2019
@Peter Littmann: You said that on wikipedia your link is underlined automatically. What do you mean by that? --Examknow (talk) 21:08, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

Can I create my own test wiki? LegoMaster (talk Account information: block logcontribslogsabuse logCentralAuth) 00:21, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

We prefer that users use for testing. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 18:15, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Referata compromised

I'm not sure if anyone is already aware of this, but it appears that one of our competitors, Referata, has had its databases compromised in what appears on the surface to be a DOS takedown. The vast majority of Referata sites either will not load and instead redirect to a spam message, and if they will load, are locked from editing and still have hacking spam on them (LocalSettings.php was leaked as part of the hack). Despite multiple attempts to regain control of the service, it appears that Yaron Koren, MediaWiki developer and founder of Referata, has been unable to completely expel the hacker(s). As such, I would not be surprised if Miraheze gets an uptick of wiki requests/import requests due to this. Amanda Catherine (talk) 20:59, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

The MediaWiki mailing list received an email from Yaron Koren, MediaWiki developer and lead sysadmin of Referata, saying that the problems appear to be resolved and that the security bug was in the SiteSettings extension. I have therefore suggested to Yaron to use ManageWiki instead. Amanda Catherine (talk) 12:17, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

HELP!: Fatal exception of type MWException

My wiki has an internal error. Please, fix it. I don't know how it happened. --PaladinDeGigantas (talk) 02:49, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

My wiki has been fixed! Thank you so much!!! --PaladinDeGigantas (talk) 03:38, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

Removing all content from a wiki?

I still want to continue my wiki, but between importing it from Wikia and changing nearly all of my layouts/templates to better fit the space here, it's become a disorganized mess. I'd rather start from scratch, but keep the same URL if possible. Polyrhythm (talk) 04:26, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

@Polyrhythm: That is possible, please make a request on Phabricator. Reception123 (talk) (C) 15:22, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

Comments Extension

It would nice if those that uses Comments Extension would count as our contribution and notification if replied. Mar9122 (talk) 19:33, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

On Talented Deviants Wiki, can you please enable these extensions?

The extensions that are going to be enabled are:

  2. Flow
  3. YouTube
  4. Template Sandbox
  5. Sandbox Link
  6. Poll
  7. PollNY
  8. VisualEditor

Theresnoname (talk) 07:57, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Theresnoname I can do it, but I see there are other active users. Do they agree? Hispano76 (talk) 14:05, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

They didn't care about these extensions, but do it anyway. Theresnoname (talk) 14:18, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Theresnoname Yes check.svg Done, I did not enable Poll and PollNY because they cause conflict, you must choose only one. Hispano76 (talk) 17:02, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Typo on the main page

I'm new to this wiki and noticed a typo on the main page so I thought I would report it. "Januarary 2019: Miraheze upgraded to 1.32!" Cheers! Reguyla (talk) 12:10, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing it out, fixed by Void. Reception123 (talk) (C) 16:13, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

How do I change the alignment of an infobox?

Hello! I'm writing this question because I do not know how to change the alignment of a userbox on my wiki. For instance, if I want it to be on the right side of the page, as most Wikipedia infoboxes are. Thanks! --LiamUJ (talk) 20:14, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

If you imported your infoboxes from another wiki, import the page MediaWiki:Common.css, it should fix all the styling related to most of the templates from that wiki. -- Void Whispers 20:19, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks for letting me know! --LiamUJ (talk) 20:21, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Translator permission gone?

I tried to translate a page to find out that the permissions seem to be gone. This tells me that I'm still a "translator", but I can't translate any pages. Is this part of all the broken permissions I found on my wiki and are reported on some other Japanese wikis (as seen here)?--ニア・バイオ (talk) 11:49, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

Well, I couldn't either. This is because there was an incident regarding permissions and permission groups and the permission was reseted to default on almost all wikis. Paladox is trying to restore all the settings as it used to be. Please see this phab task for updates.
If you are in a hurry, you may ask our local bureaucrats to restore the permissions manually on administrators' noticeboard.--開拓者 (The Pioneer) (talk/contribs | global🌎) 12:07, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
I've restored the translator group manually. -- Void Whispers 15:16, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
