If possible, can I get a Miraheze site tracked by WikiApiary?

Looking into it in the next 1-2 months (as things start settling down on the relaunched version of my now-week-old creative-venture wiki). Not to mention that my site, I believe, is the only Miraheze outlet at this writing to actually take advantage of the Genealogy and Mermaid extensions (for its character profiles and family trees). Beyond that, the only Miraheze references to both are at phab:T5005 (from late December 2019) and phab:T5204 (from a couple of months after)--whose requesting wikis are no longer around. --Routhwick (talk) 13:35, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Routhwick: To add your website to WikiApiary, you need to create an account on there. After confirming your email, all you need to do is go to Special:FormEdit/Website on there and add your wiki. Agent Isai (talk) 15:57, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Routhwick: Were you able to resolve this? Ugochimobi (talk) 08:11, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cannot have recaptcha when creating account

When creating an account, no recaptcha is loaded. I had thought it was because it tries to connect, but actually it connects to directly.

I have tried out in Firefox (Windows) and the recaptcha is correctly loaded, while when using Edge (Windows), Firefox Android, or other browsers in Android, no recaptcha is loaded.

I have inspected the console and found that the error is:

Refused to load the script  because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "default-src 'self' blob: data:  * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 'unsafe-inline' 'unsafe-eval'". Note that 'script-src-elem' was not explicitly set, so 'default-src' is used as a fallback.

(anonymous) @ api.js?hl=zh-cn:formatted:28
(anonymous) @ api.js?hl=zh-cn:formatted:30

In, there is

    po = d.createElement('script');
    po.type = 'text/javascript';
    po.async = true;
    po.src = ;

According to my assumption, it's because "", instead of "", was used, which is not in the CSP. I think that is a problem for users in China mainland. SolidBlock (talk) 13:43, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nice catch! Maybe a sysadmin can add it to the CSP. Bukkit 16:12, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I believe there is something more to it than that, based on my conversations with Reception123. Also, adding * is potentially quite problematic, given how much content Google hosts across its data centres (not all of it well intentioned). For the time being, ReCaptcha v. 3.0 has been delayed for deployment until the issues can be resolved. Dmehus (talk) 17:00, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Still not fixed at present. --SolidBlock (talk) 00:09, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Help with spam

Hey, having issues with spam accounts being created who make a cookie-cutter user page and random article outside of the scope of the wiki on anglish wiki. Was wondering if a miraheze administrator could do something to block them and delete all of the articles. Thanks. TimeMaster (talk) 23:10, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@TimeMaster: Indeed, the Anglish Wiki seems to be experiencing extensive spambot attacks, Stewards and Global Sysops have been alerted and will assist shortly. Thank you for reporting it. Agent Isai Talk to me! 00:12, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TimeMaster: In the meantime, while Stewards arrive and help, you should manually delete the articles and temporarily remove the "createpage" and "edit" permission from Users on Special:ManageWiki/permissions/User. Additionally, you may be able to thwart users from being created locally by removing the "createaccount" permission from the * group at Special:ManageWiki/permissions/*. Removing these permissions will not affect sysops or bureaucrats. Hope this helps! Agent Isai Talk to me! 04:47, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
TimeMaster Yes check.svg 52 spam page creations nuked on anglishwiki. I briefly checked all pages in your userspace and mainspace and believe everything that was spam has been removed. In addition to, or as an alternative to what Agent Isai mentioned, you might also prefer simply to remove the createaccount user right from the * user group on your wiki, particularly if most of your user creation log are spam only accounts. As a further alternative to either, you could also enable the Moderation extension and liberally grant the automoderated user group to human editors who are clearly not there to spam or attempt to spam. Hope that helps. :) Dmehus (talk) 21:23, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with removing white rectangle

Could you please help us remove this white rectangle using CSS or some other way ( It seems to be sticking out and i've tried many different things, but not able to remove it.

Thanks! Haritosh (talk) 17:38, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Haritosh:, hello there. I don't quite see the rectangle you mean. Has it been resolved? If not, please note the browser you use and I can check later more closely. --Raidarr (talk) 20:22, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I still see it in the top left corner, just right of the space where the logo is. Seeing it on Firefox, Edge, Chrome as well as other browsers that use the Chromium engine. I have marked it over here =>
Haritosh (talk) 21:45, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Found the issue. I raised it in the Miraheze discord, and the following code was suggested in response by a volunteer for CSS/JS. I'll use pastebin to give it - paste. I was informed that the 'background' code for #mw-panel should be removed as well. -- Raidarr (talk) 20:43, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Potential upload failure

I am aware that it can take some time until the cache reloads the images. Yet I feel like something went wrong when I uploaded a new version of my wiki logo. The old logo appears stretched because the new one has other dimensions. While the new logo appears in the version history when I click on it it still shows the old logo. I am unsure if this has to do with the fact that I went over the usual 135x135 rule for logos. If needed I can provide a screenshot. Smashidachi (talk) 17:26, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is usually caused because of an outdated local cache. Try clearing your cache and trying again. Agent Isai Talk to me! 17:33, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Clearing the cache doesn't seem to fix it. I also used a browser without any cache history and there it didn't work either. Smashidachi (talk) 17:38, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Happens to me, you should just change the file name to something else Bukkit 19:48, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes, it's also the servers cache. Try visiting again in an hour or two. Agent Isai Talk to me! 19:51, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I assume it is both. Because yeah changing the file name (or simply uploading the new logo as new file) worked. I assume something in the server cache got stucked or something. Smashidachi (talk) 20:51, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What is this source editor?

I got some problem while trying to edit the Brawl Pass page for my brawlstarsvi wiki. I could still see and edit as usual, but not the source editor.

Pisces (talk) 05:43, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am able to access your source editor after a quick check, both directly and after switching to it from VE. I would suggest forcing reload and trying again, restarting your browser, and clearing your browser cache in that order to ensure your side is working normally. It may have been the wiki and/or your end getting confused temporarily. --Raidarr (talk) 12:51, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, it doesn't work. Actually, the editor make all the text and code blanked out. I could still change the content of the page, but not in the source editor.
I guess I would make a ticket in Phabricator. Pisces (talk) 13:29, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Pisces: I totally understand what you're facing and trust me, I've personally experienced it too. This could happen sometimes when you have an internet connection that is not too strong, because switching between both editors when already editing, sometimes, needs a good internet connection.
So you could try what Raidarr said above or better-still, get a strong connection and try.
When that didn't work then you can create a phab ticket.
Hope that helps. Ugochimobi (talk) 13:34, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, I got full-speed Wifi connection on my house so the problem with the internet speed was impossible.
So I would go with T7631 as my final solution. Thanks for your help, @Ugochimobi and Raidarr:, but it's time to find for sysadmin's help. Pisces (talk) 14:23, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Pisces: Your switching between VisualEditor and SourceEditor works absolutely well over here. I'm sure you should check your connection if the problem still persists. Ugochimobi (talk) 14:56, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Once again, my connections was still good. I got my latest speed test from Ookla.
Pisces (talk) 15:31, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Of course that I need to hide few things for my privacy. Pisces (talk) 15:33, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Then it would seem this is not a speed related issue, but it is likely still a local one. The next step is attempting another browser and seeing what that one does, ideally as different as possible (ie, firefox instead of chrome) to see if the behavior repeats. Local settings may have a factor to play, as well as plugins such as blockers. I'm afraid there is nothing a sysadmin can really do on their end since this appears to be an entirely local issue. -- Raidarr (talk) 20:35, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In the meanwhile, while your issue is fixed: You can press the pen icon by the publish button to switch to the source editor or insert ?action=edit at the end of the URL of any page you're trying to edit. Agent Isai Talk to me! 16:34, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My Logo is Zoomed In

Hey, so I just uploaded my new logo and switched out the default logo for the new one. The logo shows up fine on my bookmark list and in any tabs, but the corner logo on the actual wiki page is zoomed in. I figured that the problem might be because the image was too large, but even replacing the file with a significantly smaller version didn't change anything. Here's the wiki: , and here's the file: BenTable (talk) 03:31, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was also facing this problem on my wiki (kawipedia) but later I requested the wiki to be deleted! ~ Mazzaz (talk) 05:06, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@BenTable: I hope you have fix your issues as When I visited, there was no such mentioned issue again and your wiki is also private. If you have further questions you could join us on Discord here. Thanks. Ugochimobi (talk) 20:20, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I honestly didn't know how to respond when I saw this earlier, and looking now it appears to have been fixed since I did see the problem then. @BenTable: since this seems to have come up before, could you tell us how it was fixed if someone wonders in the future (assuming it was)? --Raidarr (talk) 20:42, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for taking so long to respond. I saw that Smashidachi (two questions above mine) had a similar sort of problem with his logo, so I just did what he did and uploaded the image with a new name, and I also changed its size to 135 x 135px. I did try just replacing the original image with the smaller version, but that didn't work. Fortunately, uploading the image with the other name did.
Not sure why replacing the image didn't work, but I guess I need to keep that in mind. I didn't delete the original file, maybe that would've helped?
Hope that helps! :D BenTable (talk) 01:48, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subdomain Question

Hello. I am currently an admin of the SideM Wiki, which lists information on the two SideM games (one is an ongoing mobile game, the other is a defunct mobile game. Both are gacha-style games and are/were updated weekly with new information). A new SideM game will come out in a few months. It is another gacha mobile game that updates weekly. We are having trouble planning how to document all three games information on the same wiki as the new game appears to operate with a rebooted timeline separate from the first two. Keep in mind that the original game, which started seven years ago, is still running. It would be very confusing to have all of the information on the same wiki, so we decided to create a new wiki specifically for the third game.

Now, what I'm planning to do is something like this:

1. Get a domain name (e.g.

2. Assign the first wiki to

3. Assign the second wiki to

4. Assign the main domain name to a free Wordpress account/other site to act as a 'hub' page between the two wikis

Would this be possible? Clay (talk) 13:20, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Completely, although it's a little more technical than just throwing one wiki on one domain. But there's no reason you can't attach a wiki to a subdomain and do whatever you want with the main one. The custom domains instructions apply mostly the same way (note the part on subdomains, like, you just have to be careful to point each wiki in the right place and remember to set up your SSL certificate to subdomains as well, as they typically don't do that automatically. --Raidarr (talk) 13:56, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's good to know, thank you! --Clay (talk) 00:56, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A bit of a problem

I am having a bit of a problem. On Crappy Games Wiki, I suggested that the Qualitipedia wikis could have proposals. However, this suggestion was rejected, since the wiki would apparently get flooded with biased articles. However, on my side, consensus would be a more organized way to decide on issues rather than just polls. I suggested that at least regular proposals could be established, but it doesn't seem like they liked that idea either. However, this would help out a lot with decision making on the wikis. Dmehus himself said that he does not like that decisions on Qualitipedia are made by a small group of admins rather than the community (I don't remember where he said it). Also, there are currently three pages which I have brought up:

  • Prehibernation Week being on Terrible Shows & Episodes Wiki despite having mostly positive reception. Even though it does seem to be getting hate as Duchess pointed out, the episode seems very divisive.
  • The Lego Ninjago Movie being on Greatest Movies Wiki despite having mostly negative reception. Again, critical reception seems to be mixed on The Lego Ninjago Movie but I have seen it mostly being rated poorly.
  • The most problematic and controversial page on Qualitipedia is Encyclopedia SpongeBobia's page on Fresh Websites Wiki. First of all, despite Encyclopedia SpongeBobia showing a clear trend of going downhill since 2019, as there are a lot of off-topic blogs, the admins there hardly do their job, and nobody takes the wiki seriously, Duchess continues to insist that the wiki is good. The largest piece of evidence that shows how bad the wiki is is the responses to Duchess's proposal about moving the wiki to Miraheze. The responses were basically users blindly defending FANDOM and making fun of Miraheze, with one user even calling Miraheze a "Wikipedia knockoff".

Additionally, there is another problem surrounding Rotten Websites Wiki. A few weeks ago there was a coup on that wiki where a bunch of pages that got deleted were restored. The coup was supressed and the pages were deleted. What were those pages you may ask? Well, they were pages about anti-SJWs, which makes the wiki clearly biased towards the right-wing. Also, even though the wiki is about both websites and internet culture, the wiki seems way too political. Grust suggested that the SJW page should focus less on the ideology and more on them being, as he said, "killjoys". He later deleted this comment for unknown reasons. I would bring this up with the admins there, but they threatened to block me if I brought it up again, even though there is nothing in the policy about suggesting changes to a wiki. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 18:53, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, since I am not an admin, and since MarioMario456 and DuchessTheSponge both threatened to block me if I mentioned this again, and also since I am blocked on the show and website wikis and thus cannot directly discuss the fate of those specific pages, I have no control over the situation and I am unable to come to a compromise with them out of fear of being blocked. There are a few other problems too such as admins repeatedly ignoring my requests and all of my blog posts on Crappy Games Wiki getting deleted for no apparent reason, but this is the biggest problem, and these problems should be brought up one by one. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 19:04, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am considering putting Prehibernation Week on Best Shows & Episodes Wiki due to the positive reception, but I'll have to speak with Duchess. Anyway, consensus on deletion on reception wikis is a very bad idea, since it'll cause the wiki to get flooded with biased articles. We can look up the reception of specific media on sites like IMDb and GameFAQs to see if the piece of media is worthy of a page on the negative or positive wikis. MarioMario456 19:29, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, no, Prehibernation Week can't be on BS&EW, I've spoken with @DuchessTheSponge: and he showed that most people hate this episode. It was on ScumBob before the wiki's downfall. MarioMario456 19:45, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Plus, you don't explain why The Lego Ninjago Movie got "negative reviews". If you look at it on Metacritic and IMDb, you can see it got mixed to positive reception. So, shut up. MarioMario456 19:56, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On Rotten Tomatoes the episode has a 56% critics score and a 46% audience score, and a B+ on CinemaScore. Also, PhantomStrider gave the episode a negative review. Anyway, both Prehibernation Week and The Lego Ninjago Movie are far too mixed to be on either wiki, so they could be listed as forbidden pages.
Additionally, I can deal with Prehibernation Week and The Lego Ninjago Movie. But you ignored my other two problems I brought up above. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:16, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just because ONE single person disliked a movie doesn't mean it's bad. Also, B+ is still a decent score on CinemaScore. MarioMario456 20:19, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You forgot to mention how it has a 56% critical score and a 46% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, both of which mean that the movie has a rotten rating. I feel like The Lego Ninjago Movie shouldn't be on either wiki since it is way too mixed. Same with Prehibernation Week. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:21, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Can we please have a good read of CoC. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     online) 08:46, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if there's an element of content policy or similar being violated here, which is the frame you should consider when raising local wiki moderation issues on meta. They ultimately have their reasons for the oligarchical approval approach, although it runs counter to meta/default preferred decision making by community referendum. It does seem impractical to handle every page (except controversial ones) by consensus, so that may not be the best approach to suggest. But there is a broader thing raised that interests me.
It would be interesting to hear from the Stewards if not having a clear platform for an issue like this locally is a problem, or from the local administrators if there is a way to handle this kind of basically internal complaint locally without concern of retribution. I have to say, this is the sort of comment that should be made on a general 'Qualitipedia Meta' discussion board, which I'm not sure exists. It seems like a valid thing to consider if there is a common network of linked wikis and their rules + standards, and such an argument should be able to be platformed somewhere even if the administration disagrees or plainly, thinks that it is dumb. A reasonable admin veto after inconclusive discussion is reasonable. But this exchange between clearly invested parties can make observers look uneasy if left unaddressed and the only local administrator response is bringing along the stick by raising and debunking specific points of an argument that seems symptomatic of the issue that Bluba is raising. The small comment chain above I think would be better platformed locally than here on meta, imo.
But at the end of the day Bluba, right now it seems like you and the 'Qualitipedia' mini-network are not a good fit. Unless there's more to the wider issue of having a local platform to safely discuss these issues in a vacuum (a dedicated talk page or whatever), it might be best to simply go somewhere more liberal. I don't know your status with the New Reception Wiki, but perhaps it would allow you to attempt constructive pages with evidence contrary to what is otherwise posted on Qualitipedia wikis. My 2c, -- Raidarr (talk) 20:21, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But I like the Reception Wikis. I do not have a problem with the wikis themselves, I am just making suggestions on how to improve the wikis yet the admins (specifically MarioMario456 and DuchessTheSponge) seem to be against me for some reason. Also, this is lying underneath a different problem, since there is no such thing as consensus on Qualitipedia. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:24, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The wikis I used to edit the most were Terrible Shows & Episodes Wiki and Best Shows & Episodes Wiki but I am blocked on both those wikis for reasons that were brought up in a few past discussions. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:26, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I also edit at Great Characters Wiki and Loathsome Characters Wiki. The main reason I have been contacting them on Crappy Games Wiki is that it seems to be the most active Qualitipedia wiki. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:28, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The consensus issue is the biggest point in a meta scope I think, what do the local administrators think regarding this accusation? That one's much more interesting than disputes regarding individual titles and how good they are. --Raidarr (talk) 20:29, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I made a blog post on Crappy Games Wiki suggesting the idea of proposals and it got deleted by Duchess with the block summary being "No". He also deleted my other blogs for no apparent reason.
I do feel like consensus would help resolve these issues. However I am also blocked on the websites wikis for the same reason I am blocked on the show wikis, which has been explained in several past discussions. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:32, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I did talk to Duchess about the blogs on Crappy Games Wiki. The discussion was deleted however by MarioMario456 where he basically said that it would result in biased pages, then he commented that he thinks that Encyclopedia SpongeBobia has not gone downhill when it has gone downhill for reasons I addressed above. Additionally, there was a dispute a while ago about the Encyclopedia SpongeBobia page on Fresh Websites Wiki. Me and Duchess came to an agreement that it would be called Encyclopedia SpongeBobia (2007-2019, 2021-present). However, despite our agreement, he later reverted it to just Encyclopedia SpongeBobia just because I was blocked on Fresh Websites Wiki and thus could not do anything about it. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:36, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That is something I'll ping someone like @Dmehus: and whichever stewards to look at for the record and observe, as well as wait for local administrator response such as @MarioMario456: on since at face value it certainly does not look great. But perhaps there's another side that's gone unmentioned that would make these events a reasonable choice. I'm honestly not sure if MH policy has say in this, or what say it has if it does. --Raidarr (talk) 20:39, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. And it is @MarioMario456: not MarioMario346 Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:40, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:48, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── This is definitely going on the records book for generally raising the same issue that should've been resolved by now. Raidarr I'm sure Doug will be around later on tonight or something, as he has a few things to look into at some point. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 20:42, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. In essence I have had problems with this sort of thing since December. There have been three separate discussions about this, one of which expanded to a few different talk pages. My problems with Duchess however expand beyond Qualitipedia and go back to before I even knew what Miraheze was. These issues technically have been resolved but seem to regularly come up again. It seems like this is multiple different problems that keep coming up. There are a bunch of different threads and posts where this has been discussed, but many of them have been deleted. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 20:47, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This statement seems very much like a personal problem, and a personal issue with one of the administrators is not conductive to getting things fixed. It seems likely a lot of this issue is because you're considered to have many local behavioral issues and they just don't want to deal with it, which can make one wonder if your issue with consensus is really a wider problem or if it's a case of just you. Focusing on the subject at hand and avoiding tangents may somewhat lighten this impression when attempting to discuss with them/broadly. --Raidarr (talk) 20:58, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is indeed a larger problem since there have been cases where others have discussed this, but it is also that I feel that I am being treated unfairly. Blubabluba9990 (talk) 21:16, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mihai - this request belongs on (and maybe moved to) Stewards' noticeboard. Unfortunately it is not the first time, and only a Steward can fix this for you. @Dmehus: You mentioned in Request 19215 to ping you if this occurred again. It is now the third instance I've witnessed. Two questions for @Mihai1103: just to make sure this is what I think it is, can you see any "manage this wiki's..." administrator settings on the sidebar when you view your wiki, and is it indeed the wiki --Raidarr (talk) 13:20, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's the wiki. And no, I don't have the "manage this wiki's" settings on the sidebar. I can only see the "tools" section. Mihai1103 (talk) 13:23, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, this user has no rights on their wiki, see the CentralAuth lookup. Agent Isai Talk to me! 16:04, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Wiki - help needed to find it!

Hello all, I have been the editor of, but we did not frequently update the Wiki. I've just checked in and realised that the site is missing - possibly due to the MetaWiki upgrade. I would like some help please to figure out how to find, and reinstall the data for this wiki! Does anyone have a clue how I can do this?

Hi, in accordance with our Dormancy Policy, your wiki was deleted for inactivity. At this point the database has also been deleted, and thus we can't restore your wiki. I apologize for any trouble this may have caused you. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 16:57, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Crumb: As MacFan4000 pointed out, your wiki seems to have been deleted pursuant to the Dormancy Policy. After 6 months of no activity, your wiki is closed and deleted. However, it may be possible to restore your wiki. First, request the wiki again. Secondly, open a Phabricator ticket asking if it would be possible to restore the data on your wiki. Usually, it's possible to restore the wiki however there is no guarantee as to it. Hope this helps! Agent Isai Talk to me! 17:26, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tokusatsu Miraheze

This wiki could benefit from new admins. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 23:56, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What do you intend by this? I'd think requests for adoption would be appropriate, but the wiki is not locked and there seems to be some form of life there. So perhaps contacting the current admins and seeing if they respond is the best first step, and if/when they don't after waiting for a while (and establishing yourself with contributions), go for a local election based on whoever is still around. If no community or everyone is in favor, you might be able to petition the Stewards from there. --Raidarr (talk) 00:54, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm explaining that there need to be new admins. Iron Sword 23 (talk) 14:05, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a list of the public wikis that Miraheze hosts?

Specifically, I'm looking for wikis that discuss particular works of fiction. We'd like to link to them from the pages on All The Tropes that discuss the particular works, but in order to do that, we need to know of their existence. Robkelk (talk) 14:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Consider the Special:WikiDiscover page where you can filter options to exactly what you seek with categories and public/private, although it will be a bit of a slog (especially for wiki state of activity and completion). I'm afraid there's not an exact category for what you say, but some of them should lead the right direction. For a much less complete list (but still a place to start), there's the much shorter Gazetteer of wikis. --Raidarr (talk) 14:36, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, @Raidarr:. I see a few wikis on the gazetteer that we can link to right away. --Robkelk (talk) 15:34, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question, Is there a miraheze equvilent to fantendo?

Is there a miraheze equvilent to fantendo, I want to post fan ideas but dont want to join fandom after hearing the bad things (unless fantendo is one of the friendlier fandom communities) Glubbfubb (talk) 23:43, 15 July 2021 (UTC)GlubbfubbGlubbfubb (talk) 23:43, 15 July 2021 (UTC) Glubbfubb (talk) 23:43, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There are places to create fanfiction and ideas (see Gazetteer of wikis), but I don't believe there is one exactly the way you mention. Not advertised anyways. One could always be made though. Otherwise Fantendo could work out alright if it feels decent (or naturally, if I've taken too long with this answer and you've gone there anyways). --Raidarr (talk) 19:31, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Broken show/hide buttons on infoboxes

On the wiki I am admin on, we have imported templates which use show/hide drop-down sections/lists, but for some time they do not seem to have worked and both the button and information within is simply not displayed at all (example), is there a fix for this? This honestly looks like a bit too much of a mess (and is probably why there hasn't been much comment), but if it's any support and if you would be able to create a simple custom version, MediaWiki has a built-in hider class that I know works. mw:Manual:Collapsible_elements. In the meantime I can spread the question around depending if you'd like to use the simpler answer or try to make the imported wikipedia content work. --Raidarr (talk) 19:29, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Setting up my own wiki

Hello, I'm 54nd60x from English Wikipedia. As seen here, I want to create my own wiki to experiment with the MediaWiki software. I don't have a specific category for my planned wiki as I am still in the beginning of this stage and I want to experiment on my own first as there is still a lot I don't know about the MediaWiki software. I know that wikis can be created on other places as well like Fandom, but I don't have the developer rights and some interface pages I cannot edit. I want to be the founder of a wiki and don't know if Special:RequestWiki is most appropriate. Can you help me with this please? Thanks. 54nd60x (talk) 09:04, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Miraheze. I would say you want to check out Test wiki and request administrator rights as I think that's exactly in the field you're looking for, and when you have a wiki with a clear scope, consider putting in a request for that. As I'm aware new requests that are strictly for testing are preferred to consider the given link first. Otherwise if you do have a structured idea, Special:RequestWiki is the way to go. Hope it helps. --Raidarr (talk) 10:26, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal until proved innocent?

I joined about an hour ago

  • tried to fix an infobox on a public wiki but told that my edits need moderation so can't see if have worked
  • read the these noticeboards and implied that Test Wiki is without restrictions. So tried to test a template. But @DarkMatterMan4500: has already deleted my module!
  • reading the Farmer log, creating a wiki to achieve the above, are being declined.

Miraheze has received praise, and why I joined, but operating a closed shop I might have made my last posting?
 PercyUK (talk) 18:20, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

PercyUK I wasn't sure whether or not that Module you created should stay or remain deleted, so I restored it, and will only let the Consuls decide what to do with it. DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 18:22, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@DarkMatterMan4500: As it's for testing, I wouldn't see why it's not allowed. Agent Isai Talk to me! 18:25, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@PercyUK: It seems maybe DarkMatterMan4500 didn't see it was something made for testing. In the future, in your descriptions, add that it's for testing so that it's not mixed up in housekeeping. Additionally, your test wiki is being declined because we have that test wiki for testing. Sorry for the inconvenience and mix up! Agent Isai Talk to me! 18:23, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This has been largely answered, but I'll put a three-point summary;
  1. Note that Miraheze by design lets local administrators set up however they wish; a wiki may be more protected than usual, certain pages may have special protections or they would like to ensure newcomers are not vandals as a rule, therefore initial edits would need confirmation. Early on you would likely be confirmed as it would be clear you're not the type they're protecting against. If not it would be a strange wiki.
  2. Looks like a case of DarkMatterMan being overzealous as I see no reason from the outset why that template should be deleted. Explicit 'test' description should not be needed as it is a test wiki with open leeway for creation. A template is not an unusual case with extra steps, as strongly impled in the TestWiki testing policy.
  3. As much as this probably sucks to hear after being shafted with 2., the public test wiki is the intended place for testing to be done.
Apologies for the poor initial impression, I'm afraid it looks like a round of bad luck :/ --Raidarr (talk) 19:22, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@PercyUK: Sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused by any action you've seen. I believe I believe when DarkMatterMan4500 deleted your module, they thought it was one random spammer who just come to wikis to cause chaos, but trust me, now they know you're not, and they stated that they've already undeleted it since it shouldn't remain deleted. Welcome to Miraheze (if you're new) and I hope DarkMatterMan4500 will fix your abuse filter stuff soon. Ugochimobi (talk) 05:32, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another import inquiry

After launching my next custom namespace, I'm about to do yet another import from ByetHost (my relaunched site's penultimate one). The original content had page titles structured like Snippet:0001, and on import, they should land as subpages in the new namespace (Corpus:Snippets/0001). Is it possible to port them that way? --Routhwick (talk) 08:22, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Routhwick: If I got you correctly, you want to import pages Snippet:0001 but you want them to come into your wiki as subpage of Corpus:Snippets Ugochimobi (talk) 08:35, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. (To @Ugochimobi: Looks like you had double-posting issues, too.) --Routhwick (talk) 08:41, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Routhwick, if you are going to import from other wiki, there is an option: import as a subpage of the following page. You need to click that option and select the namespace (Corpus) and the page (Snippets) in which you want to port then. ~ Mazzaz (talk) 08:44, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For double posting issue, it's mainly caused by network connection for me.
So yes you could do what you want by using the Special:Import. Ugochimobi (talk) 08:45, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Does Skin.css overwirte Common.css or is it the other way around?

I know this question sounds weird and most likely obvious but i basically wondered which css has the "higher" priority. For example if i change the settings for ".infobox" in monobook.css would it end up overwriting the settings from common.css for the MonoBook skin or would it end up keeping the settings from common.css and ignoring the settings in monobook.css? Just to make it clear i specifically mean for the MonoBook skin in that case. I am aware that monobook.css would not end up overwriting other skins. Smashidachi (talk) 09:43, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay @Smashidachi: Nice question you know.
First of all, your wiki Common.css comes out to be the CORE CSS of your wiki, the same applies to your wiki's Common.js, They both stand as a CORE setting for your wiki.
Now, elaboratively, If you have styling in your wiki's Common.css, it's basically the styling for your wiki, regardless of the skin the user is using.
If you now put a different styling on a particular Skin.css, It works ONLY FOR THAT PARTICULAR SKIN.
So, summarily, The Common.css is a CORE styling for your wiki, while The Skin.css is a styling for that particular skin.
I sincerely hope this helps. Ugochimobi (talk) 10:15, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

⇒⇒You are not allow(ed) to post comments - Commenting is not allowed for this article. With this <comments=voting plus/> code enforced since March 6 that disclaimer still remains unharmed. This is especially noticeable at Awesome Characters Wiki since the comments must be placed at bottom. It should be changed into the latter disclaimer. Crappy and Incredible Games might have to keep the former wording. Would it be a good choice? ManageWiki UX Change (SRE Request for Community Input)

It has come to our attention in the recent annual survey that the community wishes to be involved in a more active stance in changes done by Site Reliability Engineering. To accommodate this, we will be asking the community for their opinion before making large changes to our own extensions, such as ManageWiki UX changes.

We are now asking you, the community for your opinions on a UX change to get rid of the "Submit" tab in ManageWiki, and instead style the submit button and reason field, similar to the way Special:Preferences does it, making the Submit fields floating at the bottom of every tab.

This change was originally requested in T7125.

Please let us know of any opinions, support or opposition to this change.

Demo of how it will look should this change be deployed:

Thank you,

Limit on <math> tags or just a bug?

For several pages on my wiki, we would need lists of several different equations (up to maybe 1-3 hundred) but <math> seems to stop rendering them way before this. How do I get the wiki text from this API request?

I'm trying to create code to get the wiki text of of a page using this code:

var api = new mw.Api();
var mwJsApi_wikitext;
var wikitext_reqPrm = {
	'action': 'query',
	'prop': 'revisions',
	'titles': 'MediaWiki_JavaScript_API',
	'rvslots': '*',
	'rvprop': 'content',
	'formatversion': '2'

var wgPageName = mw.config.get('wgPageName');
var mwJsApiClk = '<span id="mwJsApiClk" style="border:solid 1px #ccc; background: #eee; padding: 3px;">Click here to update this page on other wikis.</span>'
if (wgPageName == 'MediaWiki_JavaScript_API') {

I'm using the console to find the variables I need to access the source of the page but after I get to data.query.pages I get a 0 and if I use, the code breaks so I have no idea how I'm supposed to get passed the 0. Тишина (talk) 23:11, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article count stuck at 0

On my wiki here, I noticed that the article count is stuck at 0. When the wiki was first created, I enabled the CommentStream extension and saved it, but immediately changed my mind and enabled the Comments extension and saved it instead. Since then, the count has remained at 0, despite the wiki having 3 articles at the time I wrote this. Is this a technical glitch? (Also, do you have a story you want to share? The wiki needs contributors, and it's the perfect place to share it. wink) Tali64³ (talk) 01:04, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tali64³: This is because none of those pages contain a link to another page (see mw:Manual:Article count for more details).
