how to fix error?[edit | edit source]

Hello! When I did the Template "Website" I got the error "Error Lua in Module: Wikidata on line 186: attempt to index field 'wikibase' (a nil value)." I think I need to enable the "Wikibase (client)" extension for the template to work. If I think correctly, how can I turn it on? Wiki — Kwack (talk)

Username policy[edit | edit source]

Following the closure of Requests for Comment/Username policy (2), the Username Policy has been created. However, there are a few things that still need to be clarified better.

  1. The global community is invited to create more complete definitions of offensive, insulting, harassing, and trolling to complement the first and last criteria. Note that an existing definition for harassment exists in the Code of Conduct.
  2. The community is invited to consider the creation of a Request for Comments/Usernames page per the proposal at Requests for Comment/Username policy (2)#Amendment 2 to the enforcement section (Provision for RfC/U).

For any clarification of the new policy, please ask below. For completion of these two clarifications, I'd recommend starting a new (sub)section, but you can do whatever you want. -- Void Whispers 23:46, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

  1. @Void: However, since Proposal 3 does not pass, if the locking user/or any wikis interfered with the user/or the whole Miraheze community has a large contradiction, users/staff may have to meet face-to-face or even lead to a Supreme Court decision. OwenFung87 12:53, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
    @OwenFung87: I doubt a supreme court will rule on a Username policy but one of the proposals in RfC part 2 may ease you. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     On wikibreak) 13:29, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
  • I have begun the process of drafting a discussion on harassment and trolling etc. following the recommendations in point #1. ~ RhinosF1 - (chat)· acc· c - (     On wikibreak) 21:23, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

How do you make your wiki discussion sections look like this?[edit | edit source]

I want my wiki discussion pages to look like this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pacsonic9000 (talkcontribs)

Just set up Flow. - P1av0rSe01Complaint? 16:34, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
When I try, it gives me this error: The following errors occurred:Extension blogpage was not added because of failed requirements. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pacsonic9000 (talkcontribs)
I don't think this is related to BlogPage extension, so you don't have to enable it, but you have to enable Flow instead. - P1av0rSe01Complaint? 11:02, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

The discussion bar still doesn't show up when I enable Flow.[edit | edit source]

Anything else I need to do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pacsonic9000 (talkcontribs)

After enabling the Flow extension, you have to change content model for talk namespaces. Follow these steps to do so:
  1. Go to Special:ManageWiki/namespaces page on your wiki.
  2. Select the corresponding subject namespace of talk namespace where you want to enable Flow.
  3. Move to "Talk namespace" tab.
  4. Change content model of it to flow-board.
  5. Move to "Submit" tab.
  6. Type the reason you want to enable Flow and press Submit.
It may take several minutes to apply settings. You may need to delete existing talk pages to show up Flow there instead. - P1av0rSe01Complaint? 11:02, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Every file has turned into "Error creating thumbnail: File Missing". Please help!

Thank u, next, Eiji (talk) 07:45, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

I also got an error when I tried to upload a photo.

Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/a/ad/Moxy_is_a_skinny_legend.jpg". Make sure your upload directory is configured correctly and your web server has permission to write to that directory. See$wgUploadDirectory for more information.

Unblocking Problem and Account Creation Problem[edit | edit source]

Whenever I try to unblock this anonymous user ( on Toxic Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki, they somehow get blocked again from account creation. I know that I disabled anonymous user editing on that wiki permanently a while back, but I feel bad for that user for not getting past account creation (since I made a truce from them). Is this a bug? Please help me with this issue regardless of the case. Iceyellow (talk) 08:27, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Oh, also, some of the anonymous users cannot get past their account creation since there are some that are stuck on inputting their password since they get problems with their inputs.

@Iceyellow: no this is not a bug, heres a copy of the block entry for that ip you specified on the wiki you provided, 19:14, August 8, 2019 Iceyellow blocked talk with an expiration time of indefinite (account creation disabled, email disabled, cannot edit own talk page), you disabled account creation. Zppix (Meta | CVT Member | talk to me) 12:30, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
Huh? I thought that unblocking anonymous users like the one I mentioned would mean that they can create accounts again. I suppose I should temporarily block them without any specified editing reasons and then unblock them just to solve the problem? Iceyellow (talk) 13:02, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
Strange, I've just lifted the block without any issues. It looks like your previous attempts at unblocking the IP never went through. -- Void Whispers 17:00, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

About PNG files[edit | edit source]

I have yet another problem with Altcyclopedia right now. Apparently, the PNG files have very serious issues. In a nutshell, I get nothing but “Error creating thumbnail: File missing” on all of them. Is there any to resolve this?! - Thanks ManiacACS (talk) 10:26, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

I suppose that Miraheze has server issues, I cannon upload files at all Lily (talk) 10:39, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

My avatar doesn't show up whenever I write a comment?[edit | edit source]

Everyone else's does, though. This must be a bug or something.

I know I tried deleting my avatar and reuploading/changing it again, but it's still blank in the comments.

I hope there is one way to fix it. One way or another...

How to turn off "From ... wiki" under the page name.[edit | edit source]

Synth DIY wiki now has "From Synth DIY wiki" under every main page name. How to turn this off? --Rob Kam (talk) 09:58, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Try blanking the page MediaWiki:Tagline, or adding #siteSub { display:none; } to MediaWiki:Common.css. -- Void Whispers 16:51, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Thanks blanking the page MediaWiki:Tagline fixed it. --Rob Kam (talk) 17:53, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

CoCC election[edit | edit source]

last year, CoCC election for 2018-2019 begun at 2018-11-02, which is about the last day without 'no CoCC day'. To avoid last-minute elections and co, I think we'd better start the stuff early, preferably starting next week. If nobody opposes, I will create election pages after 00:01, 24 October 2019 (UTC).

We might want to fix the election date, maybe 3 weeks before the expiration of the current CoCC? Maybe this is RFC matter. Currently, there is no provision on the selection of CoCC other than supplementary provision's "The seat for community-elected member will follow Miraheze Meta Requests for Permissions procedures". We might incorporate this into the CoCC rules via RFC, again.

+ I'm not running for re-election, I'd rather serve as a guy who creates annual election pages. We probably don't need bureaucracy like English Wikipedia ACE, we just need someone to create pages. — revi 05:41, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

I think it's decent to start next week so we can have enough time to vote for the new commission. Reception123 (talk) (C) 12:02, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Citation modules[edit | edit source]

Hi I am trying to have some citation templates (like w:Template:Cite journal) from Wikipedia, to make quick citations and profit from the visual edit. I started by copying the w:Module:Citation/CS1 and related modules, and it was ok until I needed to copy w:Module:Citation/CS1/styles.css, I get an error that says Error: Lua error at line 1: unexpected symbol near '/'. I do not know how to proceed. What am I doing wrong? Was there an easy way to do this? -MaGoV (talk) 09:00, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

The Notorious IHateShippers Is Totally Out Of Control[edit | edit source]

With all his 43 sock accounts (and more), this troll went from being a noxious shipper hater back from April 2019 to a heartless cyberbully of mine in August 30, 2019; and he's going crazy! Is there a way to actually get him out of Miraheze forever so that he can leave all of the wikis he visits alone at last?

For example, how do I use the abuse filter so that his accounts get automatically blocked the next time he makes another one? And how do I auto-delete troll pages?

Usually, he'd make troll pages that are about giving me rape threats by sending fictional characters, memes and internet users. Sometimes, he makes immature rants about everything he hates such as ships, bad games and bad companies. Sometimes, those things above can be the name of his next sock account and not just hate pages he makes.

Iceyellow (talk) 04:59, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

I'm investigating a more proactive solution with a global abuse filter. -- Void Whispers 17:42, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

When I go on while connected with an admin user, I have no way to do it.

Language template help[edit | edit source]

My wiki project has yet another template problem. I'm trying to integrate a language template to the wiki, and all I get is "Lua error in Module:Unicode_data at line 15: attempt to call field 'length' (a nil value).". Several other templates on the wiki apparently have that same unresolvable problem. Is there a way to fix Lua errors? Thanks. ManiacACS (talk) 15:29, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

Questions about Wikibase[edit | edit source]

Hi! I recently requested a wiki ( and I've enabled the Wikibase Repository. I have some questions:

  • Is there a way to move items to the main namespace, instead of using their own Item: NS? I know the MediaWiki docs show a way, but not sure if Miraheze offers this option (if not, no problem. Just wondering).
  • Secondly, and more importantly, I don't find the option to add statements to items. For example, this test item I created. The Statements header exists, but there is no edit button for that section. I think I already assigned all wikibase-related permissions to admins, but maybe I missed some? Apparently it works now. I'm guessing the installation needed some time to configure everything.
  • Also, if I understand it correctly, the extension that lets a wiki connect with another wikibase installation to display data from it is the Wikibase Client, which is not available for now, right? However, is there a way to fetch data from a Wikibase Repository installed in the same wiki without having the Client?

I think that's all for now. Thanks in advance! --Ondo (talk) 12:06, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
