:::::::I think what Angelo Pisani is doing is wonderful, fixing lint errors. These lint errors might even affect how the page ends up looking if another tag that is added there ends up triggering something. However, I do see how this may be annoying. I personally had 3 emails sent to me about getting a new message on my talk page and was puzzled when I saw nothing. I think Angelo Pisani should be granted the bot flag to allow them to fix lint errors behind the scenes without pinging users or at least the flooder right to prevent unnecessary pings to users. == [[Meta:Patrollers|Patroller]] granted - 2021-10-31 ==

Hi, [[User:アンジェロ先輩|アンジェロ先輩]]. An [[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Administrators|administrator]] on Meta has granted you the <code>[[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Patrollers|patroller]]</code> user group permission, which gives you the ability to <code>patrol</code> [[Special:RecentChanges|recent changes]] and [[Special:NewPages|new pages]] of other Miraheze users (both registered and anonymous) who are not either [[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Autopatrolled users|autopatrolled]] or an [[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Administrators|administrator]]. In addition, this group also means that your edits are <code>autopatrolled</code>, so other patrollers or administrators don't have to patrol your edits. You should also be aware that the granting of this user group is at the discretion of Meta [[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Administrators|administrators]], so different administrators will have slightly different criteria for granting. Likewise, just as it is a discretionary appointment, revocation is also at the discretion of Meta administrators and, again, each will have their ''own'' criteria for revocation.

  +
In the medium-term, plans are in the works to develop a Meta Patrollers School, likely led by one or two active [[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Administrators|administrators]], that will provide a comprehensive set of guidelines for patrollers and answers to commonly asked questions.
  +
  +
Nevertheless, the following are some of the main guidelines for patrolling. If you follow these guidelines completely, it is unlikely your patroller user group should ever be revoked. In technical terms, even when you find content that requires deletion by an [[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Administrators|administrator]] or otherwise requires remediation, undoing, reverting, or rolling back (if you are also a <code>[[Special:MyLanguage/Meta:Rollbackers|rollbacker]]</code>, of course), you should ''always'' first mark as patrolled any revisions regardless of whether that content is destined to remain extant to the page or even on Meta entirely.
  +
  +
# When patrolling talk pages, user talk pages, and noticeboards (in '''Main''' and '''Meta''' namespaces), you should first check to see whether the user properly signed their posts using four tildes (<code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code>). If they have ''not'', you should add {{tl|unsigned}} by '''substitution''' (<code><nowiki>{{subst:Unsigned|</nowiki>''username''<nowiki>|</nowiki>''00:01, 31 August 2020 (UTC)''<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>), where ''username'' is the user's username or IP address and the timestamp is the full timestamp from the [[Special:Diff|diff]] page. As a '''best practice''', you should also link to the [[Special:Diff|diff]] in your edit summary, so other administrators and patrollers can easily tie your modification to the original edit being modified. To speed up this process, you can copy the <code>diff-permalink</code> user script from '''line 5''' of [[User:Dmehus/global.js|this page]] into either your (a) [[Special:MyPage/common.js|common.js]] or (b) [[Special:MyPage/global.js|global.js]] page (the latter applying globally on ''all'' Miraheze wikis);
  +
# When patrolling the noticeboards, ask yourself whether this topic is on the ''correct'' noticeboard. If it is ''not'', you should move it to the correct noticeboard, by either undoing the edit or manually removing the topic (if there have been intervening edits), again linking to the original noticeboard of the topic and the new noticeboard where it was moved in your edit summary. On the new noticeboard, you would simply paste in the topic (including the section header), linking to the [[Special:Diff|diff]] page as in the first step. An example edit summary might be <code><nowiki>Moved [[Special:Diff/######|this discussion]] from [[Stewards' noticeboard]] to [[Community noticeboard|here]]</nowiki></code>, where ''<nowiki>######</nowiki>'' represents the numeric revision ID of the originally posted topic;
  +
# Also when patrolling the noticeboards and talk pages (including user talk pages), as a '''best practice''', take care to kindly fix any formatting mistakes (such as excess line breaks or incorrect wiki code), per [[w:WP:LISTGAP|WP:LISTGAP]];
  +
# If something requires deletion, you can add {{tl|delete}} to the ''top'' of the page in question, taking care to follow the instructions on that template page;
  +
# If you come across a user who repeatedly makes the same mistakes, send them a guidance note on their user talk page, informing of the steps need to edit and post constructively on Meta; and, finally,
  +
# If in ''doubt'' whether something requires remediation or not, ''patrol'' it, and then ask any [[Special:ListUsers/sysop|administrator]] via their user talk page or at [[Meta:Administrators' noticeboard]] if any further action needs to be taken.

Account confirmation requested

Hi Angelo Pisani...can you confirm if this edit in which the user claims to be your legitimate alternate user account is indeed you? If not, we have a Username Policy violation from that user (not you, of course). Dmehus (talk) 20:20, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

yes it's me @Dmehus:. I'll only use it for tests. Angelo Pisani (talk) 08:47, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Angelo Pisani Thanks. That's great. As a recommended best practice for creating alternate accounts, create them whilst logged into your main account and/or create a global user page on Loginwiki, so as to provide a confirmation from the main account that the alternate account is linked to the main account it purports to represent. Hello

Hello Angelo, since you are very active in fixing lint errors. There is an error on the Stewards' noticeboard#CheckUser. MarioSuperstar77's comment got mixed with the Bukkit's signature. If you know what caused this, can you please fix this! Best, ~ Mazzaz (talk) 16:58, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lint errors on user talk pages

Hello, can you please stop lint error fixing at least on user talk pages? All users are getting notifications about new message. Thank you. MrJaroslavik (talk) 17:40, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MrJaroslavik: With the flood flag would the users don't have the notification? Angelo Pisani (talk) 17:42, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's not question. You shouldn't edit it (user talk pages) at all, if you don't want talk to them.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 17:46, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MrJaroslavik: Are you sure about that? Look here what an admin does. Angelo Pisani (talk) 17:52, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We are not on Wikipedia.--MrJaroslavik (talk) 18:04, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MrJaroslavik: Is there a policy about that? Angelo Pisani (talk) 18:20, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I would rather my posts/my pages remain unedited for such things in a conversation or archive. I place more value in an accurate transcription of what was intended than the precedence of editing 'settled' non-content pages even for clerical purposes. That is a personal take however, and would probably require higher input for a formal decision or rule (I don't know of one on MH). --Raidarr (talk) 19:44, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Raidarr: Those are lint errors. Angelo Pisani (talk) 19:46, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Patroller granted - 2021-10-31

Hi, アンジェロ先輩. An administrator on Meta has granted you the patroller user group permission, which gives you the ability to patrol recent changes and new pages of other Miraheze users (both registered and anonymous) who are not either autopatrolled or an administrator. In addition, this group also means that your edits are autopatrolled, so other patrollers or administrators don't have to patrol your edits. You should also be aware that the granting of this user group is at the discretion of Meta administrators, so different administrators will have slightly different criteria for granting. Likewise, just as it is a discretionary appointment, revocation is also at the discretion of Meta administrators and, again, each will have their own criteria for revocation.

In the medium-term, plans are in the works to develop a Meta Patrollers School, likely led by one or two active administrators, that will provide a comprehensive set of guidelines for patrollers and answers to commonly asked questions.

Nevertheless, the following are some of the main guidelines for patrolling. If you follow these guidelines completely, it is unlikely your patroller user group should ever be revoked. In technical terms, even when you find content that requires deletion by an administrator or otherwise requires remediation, undoing, reverting, or rolling back (if you are also a rollbacker, of course), you should always first mark as patrolled any revisions regardless of whether that content is destined to remain extant to the page or even on Meta entirely.

  1. When patrolling talk pages, user talk pages, and noticeboards (in Main and Meta namespaces), you should first check to see whether the user properly signed their posts using four tildes (~~~~). If they have not, you should add {{unsigned}} by substitution ({{subst:Unsigned|username|00:01, 31 August 2020 (UTC)}}), where username is the user's username or IP address and the timestamp is the full timestamp from the diff page. As a best practice, you should also link to the diff in your edit summary, so other administrators and patrollers can easily tie your modification to the original edit being modified. To speed up this process, you can copy the diff-permalink user script from line 5 of this page into either your (a) common.js or (b) global.js page (the latter applying globally on all Miraheze wikis);
  2. When patrolling the noticeboards, ask yourself whether this topic is on the correct noticeboard. If it is not, you should move it to the correct noticeboard, by either undoing the edit or manually removing the topic (if there have been intervening edits), again linking to the original noticeboard of the topic and the new noticeboard where it was moved in your edit summary. On the new noticeboard, you would simply paste in the topic (including the section header), linking to the diff page as in the first step. An example edit summary might be Moved [[Special:Diff/######|this discussion]] from [[Stewards' noticeboard]] to [[Community noticeboard|here]], where ###### represents the numeric revision ID of the originally posted topic;
  3. Also when patrolling the noticeboards and talk pages (including user talk pages), as a best practice, take care to kindly fix any formatting mistakes (such as excess line breaks or incorrect wiki code), per WP:LISTGAP;
  4. If something requires deletion, you can add {{delete}} to the top of the page in question, taking care to follow the instructions on that template page;
  5. If you come across a user who repeatedly makes the same mistakes, send them a guidance note on their user talk page, informing of the steps need to edit and post constructively on Meta; and, finally,
  6. If in doubt whether something requires remediation or not, patrol it, and then ask any administrator via their user talk page or at Meta:Administrators' noticeboard if any further action needs to be taken.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you! --Dmehus (talk) 18:46, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
